Ever since Huawei announced EMUI 10.1 / Magic UI 3.1 in late March, it has been rolling out beta builds to eligible devices in China. After almost two months of testing, the company has now begun to release stable builds for certain devices. Earlier today, we reported the arrival of EMUI 10.1 stable update for Huawei P30 series and MatePad Pro. Now, Huawei Nova 6 series and Honor V30 series are getting a similar treatment.

So far, Huawei / Honor has managed to roll out EMUI 10.1 / Magic UI 3.1 stable update for 7 devices including a tablet. The latest batch of devices to get the update are the ones listed below.

• Huawei Nova 6 5G
• Huawei Nova 6
• Huawei Nova 6 SE
• Honor V30
• Honor V30 Pro

Before these devices, the stable update was first available for Huawei P30, P30 Pro, and MatePad Pro.

Anyway, it is worth noting that the update for the above-mentioned devices is limited to China only. Also, uses will have to register in Huawei Club app to receive the update. The wider rollout for these devices will begin based on feedback from the early adopters.

We except more devices to receive stable builds in the coming days, especially those models that entered Open Beta channel last week. Nevertheless, Huawei and Honor are yet to announce the global rollout of EMUI 10.1 and Magic UI 3.1.

Huawei introduced EMUI 10.1 alongside the P40 series last month. Since then, the company has announced a list of eligible devices and even updated some of them with a closed beta build in China. As for Honor devices, the new EMUI iteration is known as Magic UI 3.1 and only one device has received it so far. But now, the brand has started rolling out the update to more devices such as Honor 20 series, Honor V30 series, and Honor V20. 

Huawei has been seeding out EMUI 10.1 closed beta updates to multiple devices over the past few days. The first batch of devices included the P30 Series and Mate 30 series, which was later followed by Nova 5 series and Honor 20S (Magic UI 3.1). Recently, even the company’s first 5G smartphone, the Mate 20X 5G also got the update.

With that being said, the new set of Honor smartphones that are currently receiving the Magic UI 3.1 closed beta update in China are as listed below.

The Magic UI 3.1 closed beta update for Honor 20 (YAL-Al00, YAL-TL00), Honor 20 Pro (YAL-AL10), and Honor V20 (PCT-AL10, PCT-TL10) comes with build number Magic UI 10.1.0.116.

Whereas, the update for Honor V30 ( OXF-AN00) and Honor V30 Pro (OXF-AN10) bear the build number Magic UI 3.1.0.75.

Wang Chenglu, President of Huawei Consumer BG Software Department, has introduced a new feature in EMUI for select Honor and Huawei smartphones — Smart Charging Mode which is meant to protect battery health of the device.

The company’s executive says that smartphones are powered by lithium batteries and have varying degrees of ageing and battery capacity degradation. If it is used improperly, the battery ageing process can be accelerated.

He claims this as a reason for launching this new feature in EMUI called Smart Charging Mode which effectively deduces the battery ageing and extends the battery life through reasonable management and usage.

What the feature does is that it learns the user’s charging habits through the built-in AI in the device and then slows down the battery charging as it reaches 100 percent, effectively preventing the battery from being idle at fully charged state for a longer time.

The Smart Charging Mode will stop the charging of the smartphone after it reaches 80 percent to protect the battery from ageing during overnight charging. So, if you need to charge the device beyond that, simply turn off the feature from the settings and once the device is fully charged, you can turn the feature on again.

Once you get this new EMUI feature, you can easily manage it by going to Settings > Battery > More battery settings > Smart charging mode. Currently, the feature is being made available in Huawei Mate 30 and Honor V30 series and could be rolled out to other devices in the near future.

Despite it does not come with 12 GB of RAM unlike the Oppo Reno3, the better chipset makes it more powerful on the paper. Oppo Reno3 comes right after with a great Dimensity 1000L SoC and up to 12 GB of RAM, as well as UFS 2.1 internal storage. Note that the 5G modem found on the Honor V30 supports both sub-6 GHz frequencies and mmWave just like the Snapdragon 765G found on the Redmi K30 5G, while the Dimensity 1000L of the Oppo Reno3 only supports sub-6 GHz frequencies, so it can not take advantage of the full potential of 5G networks. Android 10 is installed out of the box in each case.

Camera

On the paper, Oppo Reno3 offers a very interesting camera setup on the rear side. First of all, it supports optical stabilization. Further, it has a quad-camera setup including a monochromatic sensor which boosts the photo quality. On the other hand, Honor V30 is all but disappointing with its 40 MP triple camera including OIS and 3x optical zoom. Further, it is the only with a dual front camera including an ultrawide lens. Despite it has a triple rear camera, Honor V30 looks amazing. If you want a real camera phone, just do not go for the Redmi K30 5G.

Battery

Redmi K30 5G wins the battery comparison thanks to its bigger 4500 mAh battery, while Honor V30 wins the fast charging comparison thanks to its 40W charging technology allowing it to reach 70 percent of battery charge in just 30 minutes.

Price

Redmi K30 5G starts from just €255/$283 in the 6/64 GB configuration, Oppo Reno3 starts from €445/$494, and Honor V30 starts from €430/$477. Overall, if we exclude the display, Honor V30 looks like a better handset overall. But Redmi K30 5G has a higher value for money. Oppo Reno3 offers a great AMOLED display as well as a nice design without a lot of compromises.

It has been almost a month since the Honor V30 and Honor V30 Pro were announced in China and the two 5G phones are already on sale. Today, Honor announced a new color variant for the standard model at an event in China.

The Honor V30 was originally announced in three color variants – Gradient White, Black, and Blue. Starting on Tuesday, the 24th of December, buyers will be able to purchase the phone in a new color variant called Dawn Orange.

The new color variant is the same shade as the Huawei Mate 30 5G’ (and Mate 30 Pro 5G) Vegan Leather Orange but the Honor flagship keeps the glass body of the other colorways.

Honor says the new Dawn Orange variant will be available in two configurations – 6GB RAM + 128GB for ¥3299 (~$470) and 8GB RAM + 128GB for ¥3699 (~$528). It will go on sale on December 24 at 10:08 AM on Vmall, Jingdong (JD.com), Tmall, and Suning.

The Honor V30 has a 6.57-inch 1080 x 2400 LCD display with a punch hole at the top left corner for dual front-facing cameras. It is powered by the Kirin 990 processor and has a Balong 5000 modem for 5G.

The phone comes with a 40MP + 8MP telephoto + 8MP ultrawide triple rear cameras while the front is home to 32MP + 8MP ultrawide front-facing cameras. The telephoto rear cameras has 3x optical zoom and optical image stabilization.

The Honor V30 packs a 4200mAh battery with support for 40W fast charging technology. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC, dual-frequency GPS, and dual SIM support. It runs Magic UI 3.0 based on Android 10 out of the box.

Huawei launched a brand new flagship killer: Honor V30. At a very modest price, it offers incredibly powerful hardware and a complete specs sheet. But Huawei actually has to compete with two other Chinese manufacturers in the affordable high-end phone segment: Xiaomi and Oppo. The former recently launched the Mi Note 10 with an amazing camera department, while the latter came up with the Oppo Reno2. All of these devices are focused on the quality-price ratio and they are among the most wanted phones for people who cannot afford the most expensive flagship. Here is a comparison between their specifications.

Design

When it comes to the design it is all a matter of tastes, but I personally think Oppo Reno2 is superior. It has a more original glass back and a full borderless display without a notch or other interruptions. The phone features a shark fin pop-up camera which makes notches and holes unnecessary so that the phone can provide a full borderless experience. Oppo Reno2 also comes with a high builds quality, including a Gorilla Glass 5 back, a Gorilla Glass 6 front glass, and an aluminum frame. Xiaomi Mi Note 10 and Honor V30 still provide a very elegant look: the first has a great curved edge-to-edge display, while the second has a punch-hole display and a very modern form factor.

Display

The most convincing display is the one of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. First of all, it is able to provide a higher image quality, thanks to the HDR10 technology and DCI P3 coverage. It even provides very high brightness with a peak of 600 nits. Right after, there is Oppo Reno2 with a still flawless AMOLED display, but it does not support HDR that is why we put it in second place. Honor V30 has a classic IPS display like the ones you can find on most mid-rangers.

Hardware/Software

While both Oppo Reno2 and Xiaomi Mi Note 10 have midrange-class hardware, Honor V30 is actually a flagship. It is fueled by the latest Huawei’s flagship chipset: Kirin 990. And it even supports 5G connectivity. Alongside the chipset, there are up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. Xiaomi Mi Note 10 and Oppo Reno 2 are both powered by the Snapdragon 730G, but only the Oppo Reno2 has an 8/256 GB configuration, while the Mi Note 10 only comes with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of native storage.

Camera

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is the king of camera phones. We believe its 108 MP penta-camera currently has only one rival, and it is not the Honor V30 and neither the Oppo Reno2. The camera department of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 includes OIS and 5x optical zoom, as well as a dedicated macro camera and an ultrawide sensor. While Xiaomi Mi Note 10 wins the rear camera comparison, Honor V30 offers a better selfie setup with a 32 + 8 MP dual camera and wide angle. Oppo Reno2 is still an amazing camera phone, but its photo quality does not reach the Xiaomi Mi Note 10.

Battery

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 packs a mammoth 5260 mAh battery and it lasts up to three days on a single charge. It is the winner of the battery comparison, while Honor V30 and Oppo Reno2 offer a similar battery life with their 4200 and 4000 mAh units, respectively.

Price

Honor V30 made its debut in China with a €430/$474 price tag (it will go global in 2020), Xiaomi Mi Note 10 starts from €599/$660 globally but it is easy to find it at €450 thanks to online street prices, while Oppo Reno2 costs €499/$550. Overall, Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is the best phone if you are searching for the best camera and longest battery life, while Honor V30 has superior performances and offers 5G. The new series comes two months after the new Huawei’s flagship line-up Mate 30 and just a few days after the launch of the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro. Honor V30, Mate 30 and Mi CC9 Pro are amazing camera phones available at modest prices, but they are very different devices suitable for people with different needs; that is why we decided to compare their specifications and let you know which is the most interesting.

Design

The Honor V30 has a very attractive design thanks to its punch-hole display which does not include a notch but still has very minimal bezels. But not everyone might like the huge rectangle-shaped camera module on the back. If you are one of these people, then you may like the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro more. It offers a notched but borderless display with elegant curved edges, as well as a cleaner glass back. Huawei Mate 30 is less beautiful due to its bigger notch and bigger dimensions, but it is dust resistant and splash resistant, and it even supports 3D facial recognition.

Display

Each of these phones will not have an excessive price, that is why not all of their components are flagship-class. On the Honor V30, the weak point is the display. It is not a high-end OLED panel but an average IPS panel. Not that it does not provide a good image quality, but Huawei Mate 30 and Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro are both superior. They both come with an AMOLED display supporting a high DCI P3 coverage and HDR10. Huawei Mate 30 has a wider panel, perfect for productivity. Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro has curved edges, something you can love or hate.

Hardware/Software

Huawei Mate 30 wins the gold medal when it comes to hardware. It has the same Kirin 990 chipset found on the Honor V30, but in a slightly more advanced variant built with a 7 nm+ production process. It even supports 5G connectivity thanks to an integrated 5G modem. Further, it offers up to 8 GB of RAM and a very fast UFS 3.0 internal storage. Unlike the Honor V30, it has an additional slot to expand the internal storage. Honor V30 takes the silver medal since it still comes with Kirin 990 that is a flagship chipset, while Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro has a midrange Snapdragon 730G mobile platform and it does not support 5G.

Camera

The best camera is on board of the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro which is the world’s first phone (after the expensive Mi Mix Alpha) to sport a 108 MP camera. On the rear side, it has a Penta-camera with 5x optical zoom, a dedicated macro camera, an ultrawide sensor and, as mentioned above, the astonishing 108 MP Samsung sensor capturing an amazing level of detail. In the second place, we find the Huawei Mate 30 with its 40 MP triple camera including a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS. Honor V30 seems to have a better selfie camera: a dual setup with 32 and 8 MP lens (including an ultrawide sensor).

Battery

The huge 5260 mAh battery found on the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro makes it one of the best battery monsters out there. The phone lasts a lot more than Honor V30 and Huawei Mate 30. But, unlike the Huawei Mate 30 which still delivers a great battery life, it does not support fast wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging.

Price

Honor V30 hitten China with a €425/$468 starting price, Huawei Mate 30 starts from €510/$560, and Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro starts from €360/$396. Overall, Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro is a very interesting device due to its higher camera capabilities, but I would personally go for the Huawei Mate 30 due to its better chipset, reverse wireless charging, dust and splash protection, 3D facial recognition, and stereo speakers, even though its design is not the best, according to my tastes.

After the launch of the Honor V30 series ended yesterday, President Zhao Ming of Honor talked about DxOMARK camera ratings in an interview with the media. According to Zhao, the Honor V-series devices may not participate in DxOMARK scoring anymore due to the standards that camera rating site sets for devices.

Zhao goes on to state that many of the metrics that DxOMARK use for scoring are purely hardware-based, and as the hardware specifications get higher, so too will the scores. Because of this, cameras like the Honor V30’s that don’t push the boundary in terms of pure hardware doesn’t sit well with DxOMARK’s scoring system.

While this does seem a bit dismissive and one could poke many holes in the argument, it does make some sense. The Honor V30 and V30 Pro cameras don’t really wow in terms of pure specs, but rather with all the optimizations and features that have been added. Whether the cameras live up to actual standards remains to be seen though.

Today, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor held an unveil event in China to announce the Honor V30 (Vera 30) series of flagship phones. At the same event, it also announced the Honor MagicBook 15, Honor Magic Watch 2, Honor Flypods 2 and Honor Hunter Gaming Router. The Honor V30 and Honor V30 Pro are the first phones to arrive with support for 5G connectivity. The smartphone manages to impress with its topnotch features such as dual punch-hole display, Kirin 990 chipset, fast wireless charging support, dual front-facing cameras and 40-megapixel triple rear cameras.

Honor V30 5G and Honor V30 Pro 5G Specifications

The Honor V30 Pro 5G comes with a 6.57-inch IPS LCD display that offers full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixel along with a tall aspect ratio of 20:9. The display has an elliptical cutout at the top-left corner for its dual front-facing cameras. The fingerprint sensor of the phone can be found on the right edge embedded in the power button. The Honor V30 features the same dual punch-hole display and also comes with a side-facing fingerprint reader. Both phones offer 91.46 percent screen-to-body ratio.

The Honor V30 Pro is driven by the 7nm Kirin 990 5G which is integrated with a 5G modem. The SoC brings support for SA (Standalone) and NSA (Non-Standalone) dual-mode 5G. The company claimed that the AI capabilities of the Kirin 990 AI is ahead of Apple A13 chipset. The V30 Pro houses a 4,100mAh battery that supports 40W fast charging. The Honor V30 has Kirin 990 chipset onboard along with Balong 5000 5G modem for 5G connectivity. It features a slightly larger 4,200mAh battery which also supports 40W rapid charging. It lacks support for wireless charging. The Honor V30 series is designed for high-end gaming. Users can connect single or dual-handed gamepad to the V30 / V30 Pro for immersive gaming experience.

Honor will be holding a launch event in China tomorrow to announce Honor V30 and Honor V30 Pro 5G phones. Several leaks have appeared in the recent weeks to reveal the specs and design of the phone. Now, freshly baked leaked images of the actual Honor V30 (or V30 Pro) have surfaced on Weibo.

The images seem to be new since the Nov. 25 date can be seen on the display of the Honor V30. The pill-shaped punch-hole enabled display is surrounded by very thin bezels which indicates that it will be boasting a remarkable screen space.

The rear shell of the phone has a rectangular camera module that is packed with three camera sensors and an LED flash. The volume rocker can be seen on the right edge of the device. Below it is the side-facing fingerprint sensor. Another shot reveals the box package of the device that has been previously spotted. It contains the Vera brand name.

The Honor V30 and V30 Pro are both likely to come with full HD+ IPS LCD display of 6.57 inches. The V30 series is expected to offer 91.46 percent screen-to-body ratio. The Kirin 990 5G SoC will be fueling these phones. The Honor V30 may come with in 6 GB / 8 GB RAM version and 128 GB of storage. It could be housing a 4,200mAh battery with 40W fast charging support.

On the other side, the Honor V30 Pro could be coming with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB / 256 GB storage options. It may feature a 4,100mAh battery and it may carry support for 40W fast charging, 27W wireless charging and 7.5W reverse wireless charging. The Honor V30 Pro was recently spotted on AnTuTu benchmarks with 476,480 scores.

The details of the front cameras of the front cameras of the Honor V30 and V30 Pro are not known yet. Both phones are rumored to feature triple rear cameras. The V30 may come with a 40-megapixel Sony IMX686 + 8-megapixel telephoto + OIS assisted 8-megapixel wide-angle triple cameras. On other side, the Honor V30 Pro’s triple shooters may comprise of a 40-megapixel Sony IMX686, an 8-megapixel telephoto and an OIS assisted 12-megapixel videography lens-angle triple cameras. We had a clue that the new flagship models were going to feature Hisilicon’s best chipset, but today, the company has officially confirmed that the Honor V30 will feature its flagship-grade Kirin 990 5G processor. This also confirms them to be the first 5G smartphones from the brand.

Given its high-end placement, the Honor V30 and V30 Pro 5G models are expected to be expensive as well. According to a recent leak on Weibo, the V30 could be priced at 4999 yuan ($710). This would put it in direct competition to the Mate 30 models which also start at the same price in China.

We don’t know much about this Matrix Camera, but Huawei had trademarked two words, Camera Matrix, and Cine Lens, back in July 2019. So if they are similar technologies, the Matrix camera could be a really exciting camera feature. On coming Tuesday, Honor will be holding an unveil event in China to announce the Honor V30 and V30 Pro phones. The Honor V30 series will be the first 5G phones from the company. Recently, the OXF-AN10 phone was spotted on Geekbench with some of its key specs. Today, the same model has surfaced on AnTuTu benchmarking platform to reveal more details. According to AnTuTu, OXF-AN10 model number belongs to the Honor V30 Pro 5G phone and not Honor V30 5Gv as it was believed before.

On AnTuTu, the Honor V30 Pro 5G phone has recorded 476,480 average benchmarking score. This score is an average of CPU, GPU, memory and UX tests in which the phone scored 154,496, 169,369, 92,807 and 59,811 points. AnTuTu claimed that the Huawei Mate 30 Pro’s benchmarking scores for CPU and memory tests are higher than V30 Pro 5G. Both phones have scored recorded similar points in the UX score. However, the V30 Pro 5G outscored the Mate 30 Pro in the graphics test.

Coming to the specs of the Honor V30 Pro 5G phone that revealed through AnTuTu listing, it features a display that produces full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2440 pixels. Hence, the display of the Honor V30 Pro with an elliptical cutout for its two front-facing cameras will deliver a tall aspect ratio of 20:9. The Kirin 990 5G chipset that powers the Mate 30 Pro 5G is also present under the hood of the V30 Pro 5G. The SoC is coupled with 8 GB of RAM.

Honor will be announcing the Honor V30 series of flagship smartphones on Nov. 26. Recently, an official promo video of the phone had revealed the design of the rear camera module of the Honor V30. It showed the smartphone sporting triple rear cameras. Today, a reliable tipster has shared an image of the Honor V30. Considering the fact that it is equipped with four rear-facing cameras, it appears that it could be Honor V30 Pro 5G phone.

The image shows that the smartphone has a V-shaped pattern on its rear panel that seems to be made out of glass. The upper-right corner of the back panel has ‘AI Vision’ text mentioned. There is an offbeat rectangular camera module that includes three vertically placed camera lenses and alongside it is the fourth lens with an LED flash.

It could be the Honor V30 Pro because the handset that was spotted recently in Honor’s promo video has a slightly different camera setup. In the above image, the LED flash is placed besides the third lens whereas in the screenshot taken from Honor’s promo video shows the LED flash next to the first camera. It also features a rectangular camera module with only three camera sensors.

Hence, it appears that the Honor V30 could be featuring three rear-facing cameras whereas the Honor V30 Pro could be coming with four rear-mounted cameras. The Honor Vera 30 will be unveiled on November 26 but it won’t be the only new hardware from Huawei’s sub-brand. New info says we will be getting two health fitness-related products alongside the new V30 phones.

First is the Honor Watch Magic 2, a successor to the Honor Watch Magic that launched on October 31, 2018. The Honor smartwatch is actually a cheaper version of the Huawei Watch GT, and according to @Digital Chat Station, the Honor Watch Magic 2 looks just like the Huawei Watch GT 2. The Watch Magic 2 will have a heart rate sensor, GPS, and NFC. It should also sell for less than the Watch GT 2 priced at €229.

Sketches of the Watch Magic 2 have surfaced on the web and they confirm a similar design to Huawei’s latest smartwatch. We expect the new Honor smartwatch will also have a Kirin A1 chip for better performance, battery life, and connectivity.

Alongside the smartwatch, Digital Chat Station, also revealed we will be getting a new Honor Smart Body Composition Scale which we expect to launch as the Honor Smart Scale 2. Honor already has a smart scale but it is due for a successor. The new scale should have a new design and new features. Like the original, it should be able to measure parameters such as BMI, body fat, bone mass, muscle mass, protein, visceral fat, body water percentage, and of course weight.

The original was available outside China, so we expect the new one will be too.

At a live-streamed show to officially begin its Single’s Day (11-11) shopping festival, Honor’s CEO, George Zhao, revealed that its upcoming flagships, the Honor V30 series, will launch on November 26.

Mr. Zhao also confirmed that the entire series will have support for 5G which hints at a higher starting price than its predecessor, the Honor V20.

While 5G support will translate into an increase in the price, the Honor V30 series is expected to come with impressive cameras. It has been reported that the series will be the first to feature what is called “Camera Matrix” technology which is a new algorithm.

Actually, this is not the first time we have come across the name as Huawei filed a trademark application for Camera Matrix and Cine Lens back in July. Cine Lens or rather, a 40MP ultrawide Cine Camera did appear on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro a few months after the filing. Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has already confirmed that the company will soon launch its Honor V30 series smartphones powered by the company’s own Kirin 990 5G chipset. Today, Honor President Zhao Ming has shared a screenshot of the device showcasing the internet speed on the upcoming device.

In the screenshot, we can see that the phone managed to get 741 Mbps download speed and 69.4 Mbps upload speed. This showcases the acceleration of the 5G technology as the next-generation mobile network technology on the network of China Mobile.

Recently, an image of the smartphone’s front panel leaked online, which confirmed that the phone will feature a hole-punch display for housing camera sensors whereas the Pro model will house two camera sensors in the punch-hole design.

As for the main camera module at the back of the device, reports indicate that it will come with a 60-megapixel primary sensor, coupled with a 16-megapixel super wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a ToF camera sensor, completing the quad-camera setup.

On the front side, the smartphones will come with a 32-megapixel sensor while the Pro model will be accompanied by a secondary sensor which remains unknown. Both the devices are expected to come with a 90Hz refresh rate for the full-screen display and the punch-hole will be on the top-left corner.

We expect both the smartphones to come running EMUI 10 custom user interface based on the latest Android 10 operating system. However, the phones will likely lack support for Google apps and services, if the company isn’t granted a special license.

While the phone’s launch date, pricing and availability information still remains unknown, some reports indicate that the Honor V30 series will be priced under 3,000 Yuan which roughly converts to $420. Huawei is reportedly working on the launch two new smartphones. Past reports have revealed plenty of information on the Honor V30 5G that has a model number of OXF-AN00. A report that was published earlier today that not only the Honor V30 5G has been approved by the China’s TENAA telecom authority, the Nova 6 5G with WLZ-AN00 has also been approved by the same body. It appears that the arrival of Huawei Nova 6 5G phone is drawing near as a leaked render revealing its front and rear design has surfaced.

The leaked render revealed by 91mobiles shows the Huawei Nova 6 5G smartphone with glass panels on front and rear sides. The gradient rear of the phone has a vertical camera system that includes three camera sensors followed by an LED flash. Alongside it is another module that could be a 3D ToF sensor or laser autofocus. The right edge of the phone seems to feature a volume rocker and a power key.

Huawei Technologies, the China-based smartphone maker has filed application with the Ministry of Industry Certification for its two new smartphones having model numbers WLZ-AN00 and OXF-AN00.

Some reports from the Chinese market claims that the smartphone with model number WLZ-AN00 is the Huawei Nova 6 while the one carrying model number OXF-AN00 is the Honor V30. Both the smartphone are said to have similar design.

Among the two smartphones, nothing is known about the Huawei Nova 6. However, the Honor V30 smartphone has already been confirmed by the company and will get launched next month.

Honor President Zhao Ming confirmed in a recent interview with Chinese media that the smartphone will come with support for both Non-Stand Alone (NSA) and Stand Alone (SA) modes for 5G, essentially future-proofing the device.

The specs were posted on Twitter by Teme (特米) (@RODENT950). According to the tweet, the Honor V30 Pro will have support for 5G.

Honor V30

The Honor V30 will have an LCD display with a punch-hole for a single front-facing camera just like the Honor V20. There is no mention of the display size or the selfie camera’s configuration.

The phone will have a 4000mAh battery capacity just like its predecessor and also support 22.5W SuperCharge fast charging technology. Honor will include an extra camera for a triple-camera setup and the primary sensor will be a 60MP camera. The specs of the other two sensors are not mentioned.

The Honor V30 will be powered by the 7nm Kirin 990 processor which powers the Huawei Mate 30 and Huawei Mate 30 Pro.

Honor V30 Pro

The Honor V30 Pro will have an OLED display with a punch hole for dual front-facing cameras. The specs of the two sensors are also kept under wraps. The display of the V30 Pro already leaked a few weeks ago. Powering the Honor V30 Pro will be the Kirin 990 5G processor.

The phone will also have a 60MP primary rear camera but it will be paired with 3 other sensors for a quad-camera setup. The Honor V30 Pro will have a 4200mAh battery with support for 40W SuperCharge just like the Mate 30 series. However, it will not have support for their 27W fast wireless charging. Instead, it will come with 15W wireless charging support.

While both phones boast interesting specs, they will face the same issues as the Mate 30 series – no Google Services; which will make them practically useless for interested buyers outside China.

The Honor V30 is shown to have a display with very thin bezels. In addition to that, the screen has a punch hole. However, this is not like the one in its Honor 20 series but a pill-shaped one like that of the Samsung Galaxy S10+.

The punch hole houses two cameras but differs from that of the Galaxy S10+ with its position. Honor has decided to place it on the top left corner of the display instead of the right corner.

The display type is not known but we hope Honor makes the switch to AMOLED for its V-series flagship. If it is an AMOLED screen, then we can expect an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Apart from the upcoming Mate 30 series from Huawei, its sub-brand Honor is also expected to launch Kirin 990 powered flagship smartphone. Today, Honor confirmed through a Weibo post that the Honor Vera30 (V30) series will be coming with 5G Kirin 990 chipset.

In the previous week, Honor President George Zhao had confirmed that Honor’s 5G phone will be Honor V30 5G and it will be powered by Kirin 990. The below shown poster has been released today to confirm that it will be arriving in China as ‘Vera30.’ At present, there is no information available on the specifications of the smartphone. However, it is speculated that it could be sporting a round-shaped camera housing on its rear.

The Kirin 990 chipset come with an octa-core processor that two cores of Cortex A76 gunning at 2.86GHz and another two cores of Cortex A76 working at 2.36GHz. Its quad-core Cortex A55 clocks at 1.95GHz. The SoC includes 16-core Mali-G76 graphics and it tags along two big-core and one tiny-core NPU unit. The Honor V20 had gone official in December 2018. The smartphone was made available in international markets as Honor View 20. Probably, the Honor Vera30 could be debuting in China by December 2019.

The Honor V20 that is fueled by Kirin 980 chipset features 6.4-inch IPS LCD display with punch-hole design. It offers full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The punch-hole on the display has a 25-megapixel selfie camera. The rear shell of the phone features a Sony IMX586 48-megapixel lens with f/1.8 aperture and a ToF 3D camera.

The smartphone is backed by a 4,000mAh battery that supports 22.5W fast charging. There is no microSD card slot on the device. It features up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of native storage. It also features a 3.5mm audio jack.

While Apple and Google are going for a squircle camera housing for their upcoming flagships, other manufacturers like OnePlus (OnePlus 7T), Huawei (Mate 30), and now Honor will be adopting the circular camera housing design which Motorola made famous for their own flagships.

A render of an Honor smartphone with the circular camera housing has surfaced online and there are speculations as to which upcoming phone it is.

The picture was shared on Weibo yesterday by @ IT Da Shixiong. It shows the phone in green (Phantom Blue), with a similar light pattern to that of the Honor 20. However, rather than have its cameras lined up vertically by the side, this phone has its cameras arranged in a circle in the middle.

There is a camera sensor at each cardinal point while an LED flash is in the middle. One of the cameras even has a square-shaped lens like that of the Huawei P30 Pro. This sensor is most likely a periscope zoom lens. The angle of the picture doesn’t let us know if it has a camera bump or not.

Some say this may be the Honor V30, the successor to the Honor V20 and which should launch outside China as the Honor View 30. However, the V30 isn’t expected to arrive until the end of the year.

Others say it may be an upcoming phone called the Honor 20S (not Honor 20 SE). This phone was recently seen on Google’s Android Enterprise Recommended Device list but has been pulled down. Thankfully, someone managed to take a screenshot of the page.

The Honor 20S will come with a 6-inch screen with a waterdrop notch, 8GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of storage, and run Android 10 out of the box. The rest of the specs are unknown.

There are not enough reasons to say if the phone above is the Honor V30 or Honor 20S but we are pretty sure the device is a flagship phone. Honor is scheduled to announce a new phone called the Honor 20 SE next month. We do not know where this phone sits in the Honor 20 series but it may not be a flagship phone.

Soon after Xiaomi’s VP Lu Weibing confirmed the Redmi K30 smartphone with 5G support, Zhao Ming, President of Honor, has confirmed on Weibo that the Honor V30 will be the brand’s first 5G smartphone.

He has revealed that not only the Honor V30 will come with 5G support, the smartphone will also have support for full 5G SA and NSA network, similar to the flagship smartphones. However, he has shared no further details about this phone.

However, we expect the upcoming 5G smartphone from Honor to come powered by the company’s own flagship Kirin processor for powerful performance. Since the Kirin 990 SoC is set to get launched in a couple of weeks, we expect the Honor V30 to come powered by the same chipset.

Honor’s parent company Huawei has started selling its first 5G smartphone in its home country China. Huawei Mate 20 X 5G smartphone is now available for purchase in China costing 6,199 Yuan, which roughly converts to $881. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage in Emerald Green color.

The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G features a massive 7.2-inch OLED display with a waterdrop notch, Full HD+ screen resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. The 7nm Kirin 980 chipset is present under the hood, along with Balong 5000 5G modem that brings 5G connection on the device. It is a dual SIM phone that supports a 5G SIM and a 4G SIM at the same time.

On the front side, the phone comes with a 24-megapixel selfie camera having f/2.0 aperture. The rear shell of the smartphone features Leica engineered three camera sensors housed inside a square-shaped module. It includes an LED flash, an f/1.8 aperture 40-megapixel primary sensor, an f/2.4 aperture 8-megapixel telephoto lens with OIS and a 20-megapixel ultrawide lens.

Other features on the device include Dolby Atmos support, facial unlock, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a rear-facing fingerprint sensor. It comes pre-loaded with Android 9 Pie OS that is customized with EMUI 9.1 and is powered by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 40W fast charging.
