Huawei‘s autonomous Honor brand announced the Honor V9 in China at the tail end of February with a special flagship look. The device recently went up on sales clutching a price tag starting at 2599 Yuan ($377) for the base version. There are now indications the Honor V9 would debut in Europe under a different moniker.

According to a Twitter tipster, the Honor V9 would likely be launched in Europe as the Honor 8 Pro on April 5. Already, Huawei has sent out invites for a launch event billed for April 5 but the company didn’t explicitly state the device that would launch on that day. The tipster tips, though, that the V9 would come in gold, blue and black variants, likely omitting the sleek red variant seen in China.

Should this turn out to be true, it sure wouldn’t take a thing out of the Honor V9 which is a true flagship with lots of stunning features. Like the words of English poet, William Shakespeare, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet”.

As a reminder, the Honor V9 or Honor 8 Pro packs a powerful Kirin 960 chip inside a 5.7-inch QHD LCD screen. The processor is backed by 4GB RAM on some models and 6GB of RAM on the top models. There is the option of a 64GB or 128GB storage version to choose from. The V9 also sports a 12 MP + 12 MP f/2.2 dual cameras on the back (one sensor is monochrome ) with laser autofocus, LED flash, and 4K video capture. This isn’t a Leica branded shooter, but it is still a decent setup.

Soon we’ll be flooded with a number of flagship smartphones, but before all that, Huawei has released its second generation Huawei Honor V9 flagship. The new V series smartphones are ideally placed between the mid-range Honor series and the high-end P and Mate series. But seeing the kind of specs loaded on the new Honor V9, it’s clear that the phone can be called as a true flagship model.

So, recently, we have seen that Huawei has started giving a lot of importance on the design and looks of its flagships. The Honor 8 was a beautiful flagship and so was the Mate 9. Now, the Huawei Honor V9 is yet another good looking smartphone measuring just 6.97mm in thickness and for those who would like their phones to look unique, there’s a bright Red color option as well. There are three other official colors being offered for the V9 — Gold, Black, and Blue. But I am sure, there would be a lot of takers for this unique Red shade. And in the conference, the company made sure that the flame Red color of the device was highlighted well enough.

As for the specs, the Honor V9 comes with the powerful Huawei Kirin 960 octa-core chip inside along with 6GB of RAM on board.  This along with 64GB / 128GB ROM options make sure that the phone boasts of current flagship grade configuration. On top of that, there is a 5.7-inch 2K screen on board as well. So, once again, the V9 will be a great VR smartphone. No information on the screen protection yet, but the Huawei Honor V8 had Gorilla Glass 3, so the V9 should also come with Gorilla Glass on top.

The Honor V9 comes with a large battery as well, a 4000mAh capacity one that will ensure that the phone lasts an entire day easily. The previous generation V8 had a 3500mAh one, so this is definitely a great upgrade. As for software, the phone runs on Android 7 Nougat based on EMUI 5.0. The phone also seems to carry forward some of the features first revealed on the Huawei Honor Magic smartphone last year.

Now, coming to the most important part of the phone, the Honor V9 features the third generation 12MP f/2.2 dual camera setup which helps take photos with bokeh effect, excellent low light images, and richer images, thanks to the improved black and white sensor which takes up to 3 times more light.

Huawei is also marketing the honor V9 as the first 3D modeling smartphone. The dual cameras setup along with the help of laser focus at the back is capable of capturing 3D creative photos and using this, you can take 3D print outs too.

The Huawei Honor V9 starts at 2599 Yuan ($377) for the 4GB + 64GB, 2999 Yuan ($436) for the 6GB + 64GB  version and 3499 Yuan ($508) for the 6GB + 128GB version.

The phone goes on sale on February 28 at 10:00 AM.

Huawei‘s elite brand Honor has confirmed that it would hold a launch event on February 21 in Beijing where it would launch the Honor V9. The official press invite for the launch event has been outed and it shows that the Honor V9 would launch along with the Honor 8 Youth Edition.

From the press invite, it can be gathered that while the Honor 8 Youth Edition would come with a lower price tag than its senior sibling, the Honor 8. Also, the Honor V9 is tipped as coming with a super fast camera which had earlier been leaked as a dual camera setup.

The device comes with two memory variants, one with 4GB of RAM and another with 6GB of RAM. Both versions pack 64GB of expandable storages. The dual camera setup at the rear is said to be a 12MP + 12MP setup with f/2.2 aperture, while there is an 8MP front-facing camera as well. Keeping the lights on will be a generous 3,900mAh battery with fast charging support and providing the interface would be the Android 7.0 Nougat-based EMUI 5.0.

Huawei‘s elite brand Honor is set to release a new smartphone dubbed Honor V9 on February 21 in China. This is contained in an official poster released on Weibo announcing the conference which would hold in Beijing on February 21.

From the poster, it could be noticed that the Honor V9 has got the endorsement of Chinese Olympic Swimming champion Sun Yang and also the device would be equipped with dual cameras at the rear. The Huawei Honor V9 had appeared on TENAA earlier on, giving us a peek into what its specs look like. The V9 which appeared on TENAA with the model number DUK-TL30 is listed with a 5.5-inch 2K display and would be powered by a 2.4GHz octa-core processor believed to be the Kirin 960 chipset. The device comes with two memory variants, one with 4GB of RAM and another with 6GB of RAM. Both versions pack 64GB of expandable storages.

On the camera aspect, the Honor V9 will sport a 12MP + 12MP dual-lens camera at the rear while up front there is an 8MP selfie shooter. Keeping the lights on will be a mammoth 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support and providing the interface would be the Android 7.0 Nougat possibly with a touch of EMUI 5.0. The V9 is expected with a price tag in the region of 3,000 yuan.
