Honor X40i smartphone goes on sale in China; price starts at 1,599 yuan ($235)

Honor announced its new smartphone dubbed Honor X40i a few days ago, and now the company has officially launched the device in China.

The Honor X40i smartphone, which is a successor to the Honor X30i launched last year, is now available for purchase in the Chinese market for the starting price of 1,599 yuan, which is approximately $235.

The base model of the smartphone packs 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, costing 1,599 yuan (~$235), while the 8GB RAM and 256GB model costs 1,799 yuan (~$265). The top-end model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at 1,999 yuan (~$295). It comes in four colors — Magic Night Black, Mo Yuqing, Xingmeng Silver, and Rose Galaxy.

The Honor X40i features a 6.7-inch LTPS LCD display that supports a Full HD+ screen resolution of 1080 x 2388 pixels and offers a screen-to-body ratio of 93.6 percent, a 90Hz refresh rate, and comes packed with Honor’s self-developed screen-by-screen color temperature calibration technology.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The phone also supports up to 5GB of virtual RAM for a performance boost.

In the camera department, there’s a dual-camera setup on the back that consists of a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front side, it features an 8-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

The phone runs the Android 12 operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own Magic UI 6.1 custom interface on top. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery that comes with support for 40W fast charging.

The Honor X40i measures 7.43mm in thickness and weighs 175 grams. It has a flat-edge design and houses a 6.7-inch LTPS LCD punch-hole display that supports a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2388 pixels. The screen-to-body ratio of the device is 93.6 percent.

Honor x40i Rose Galaxy color teaser showcases the phone’s design ahead of launch

A couple of days ago, Honor officially announced that the company is gearing up to launch a new smartphone in its home market China, dubbed as Honor x40i. As the name indicates, the phone is a successor to the Honor x30i launched last year.

Today, the company has shared a new teaser on Weibo which showcases the smartphone in the Rose Galaxy color option. It also reveals the phone’s design, hinting at what to expect from the upcoming smartphone.

The teaser shows that the Honor x40i Rose Galaxy version comes with a diamond color design with a dual ring camera module placed in the top-left corner on the back panel where the rings have an intersecting design.

On the front side, the smartphone has a punch-hole cutout at the top of the screen for housing the front-facing camera sensor and it features narrow bezels. In the teaser, the company is touting the smartphone to have “the most imaginative design in the history of the Honor X series.”

In the camera department, the smartphone is expected to feature a 50-megapixel primary camera sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. Apart from this, nothing else is known about the phone’s specifications.

The Honor x40i smartphone will be up for reservations across several retail platforms in China from 13th July. The phone is expected to get officially announced later this month along with the Honor Tablet 8 and Honor Smart Screen X3 series.

Last year, in October, Honor launched a lightweight and thin smartphone, dubbed the Honor X30i. The handset debuted with an affordable price tag and decent features. Now, the Chinese company is gearing up to launch the successor of the X30i in the form of the Honor X40i. Details about the upcoming smartphone are pretty short. However, some leaks and renders do give us a whiff of its specifications.

in a Weibo post, Jiang Hairong, CMO of Honor Terminal Co. Ltd, officially announced the new Honor X40i phone Hairong stated that the phone would be launched soon and also shared three teaser posters of the smartphone.

The posters have a space theme, and one of them has “Cosmic Romance” written on it. This suggests that the smartphone may come with a space-inspired design. Previous renders of the smartphone combined with the teaser posters signal that the Honor X40i will have a right-angle frame design and a straight screen. The overall design of the smartphone could have a boxy appearance like its predecessor.

In terms of optics, the device houses triple rear cameras, with a 48MP main camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens.
