The marketing name is unknown but the phone’s model number is 2Q741. It was spotted on Geekbench yesterday and its benchmark result reveals some key specs.

The HTC 2Q741 runs Android 9 Pie and has 6GB of RAM. There is a MediaTek MT6765 chipset a.k.a. Helio P35 processor under the hood. This is the same chipset that powers the Mi Play and the Honor 8A Pro. The advantage the HTC has over these two phones is its RAM. It’s twice that of the Honor and 2GB more than the Mi Play’s.

It is a wild guess but we have a feeling this might be a follow-up to last year’s HTC Desire 12 or Desire 12+. The former is powered by the 28nm MT6739 while the Desire 12+ uses the 14nm Snapdragon 450. Switching to the 12nm Helio P35 for improved efficiency isn’t a bad decision. Both devices were announced in March 2018 and were available for purchase in May, so they are due for successors. However, the fact that the HTC 2Q741 has 6GB of RAM seems pretty unusual since the chipset is entry-level/mid-range. Most phones in that category max out at 4GB RAM.
