Even though the Taiwanese company is also struggling, it has no plans to exit the market yet. Actually, it has new 5G phones planned for this quarter according to a new report.</p>
<p>The info comes from <em><a href="https://www.digitimes.com/news/a20210406PD212.html">DigiTimes</a></em> who cites unnamed industry sources. According to them, HTC has plans to launch new <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/5G">5G</a> smartphones along with new AR/VR products this quarter. These new products are expected to help invigorate sales.</p>
<figure id="attachment_328511" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-328511" style="width: 630px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-328511" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/HTC-U20-5G-1.jpg?x10805" alt="HTC U20 5G" width="630" height="630" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/HTC-U20-5G-1.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/HTC-U20-5G-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/HTC-U20-5G-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/HTC-U20-5G-1-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-328511" class="wp-caption-text">HTC U20 5G gets an official price cut in Taiwan</figcaption></figure>
<p>The manufacturer has also cut the price of its first 5G smartphone, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/htc-u20-5g/">HTC U20 5G</a>. The phone which launched last June is now selling for TWD$13,990 (~$492), just TWD$1,000 more than the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/htc-desire-21-pro-5g/">HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G</a> that was announced at the beginning of the year. You do get a more powerful processor, double the storage, and a higher-resolution selfie camera. However, that price is on the high side when compared to the competition.</p>
<p>For its AR/VR plans, HTC wants to release more commercial devices that serve those who need them for communication, work, and education. These new devices should launch under the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/HTC-Vive">VIVE</a> series.</p>
<p>All of these products are planned for release this quarter but we won&#8217;t rule out the possibility of a delay considering the world is facing a chip shortage issue. Nevertheless, when they do arrive, they should be announced first in Taiwan before a wider release.</p>
