<p>It has been years since HTC has given up on the smartphone market. However, the brand continues to sell phones in a limited fashion in its home country Taiwan, and a select few markets.</p>

<p>Earlier this year, the company <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/18/htc-u23-u23-pro-launched-with-120hz-oled-display-snapdragon-7-gen-1-64mp-108mp-main-camera/">launched the HTC U23 and HTC U23 Pro</a>. They are actually mid-rangers despite sounding like a couple of flagship smartphones.</p>

<p>Months after their initial debut, the brand has now released a new color variant for the ‘Pro’ model.</p>

<h3><strong>HTC U23 Pro now comes in Red ahead of Christmas</strong></h3>

<p>HTC U23 Pro gets a new ‘Misty Red’ color option in Taiwan. This version of the handset arrives in a single 8GB + 256GB memory configuration priced at TWD 15,490 (~$490).</p>

<p>There’s a limited-time launch offer for the new hue starting today until December 27. Customers purchasing the phone during this period will get a shockproof case and a wireless charger for free.</p>

<p>Feature-wise, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/htc-u23-pro/">HTC U23 Pro</a> has nothing special going for it, except for some tidbits like IP rating and wireless charging. It has the standard set of specs that you find on most devices in this range.</p>

<p>The smartphone sports a 6.7-inch centered punch-hole OLED display with an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It is powered by a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/05/20/qualcomm-snapdragon-7-gen-1-launched-144hz-fhd-display-200mp-camera-android-se-and-more/">Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1</a> chipset and boots <a href="https://gizmochina.com/tag/Android-13/">Android 13</a>.</p>

<p>The handset is equipped with a quad camera system on the rear comprising a 108MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide unit, a 5MP macro snapper, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, it has a 32MP shooter for selfies and video calls.</p>

<p>The device is IP67-rated for dust and water resistance. It even has a MicroSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB 3.0 port.</p>

<p>Last but not least, the phone is backed by a 4,600mAh battery with support for 30W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.</p>

<p>HTC <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/12/htc-u23-pro-to-launch-on-may-18/">has scheduled</a> a launch event for May 18. The company is expected to unveil the HTC U23 Pro smartphone at this conference.</p>

<p>We have been hearing about this handset for the last few days. It has now appeared online in official renders.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="660" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Renders-1024x660.jpg?x44794" alt="HTC U23 Pro" class="wp-image-537309" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Renders-1024x660.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Renders-300x193.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Renders-768x495.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Renders-1536x991.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Renders-2048x1321.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Renders-696x449.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Renders-1068x689.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Renders-1920x1238.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Renders-651x420.jpg 651w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The renders of the upcoming HTC U23 Pro <a href="https://twitter.com/evleaks/status/1657866441788473346">were shared</a> by popular leaker Evan Blass who goes by @evleaks on Twitter. The pictures show the phone in two shades.</p>

<p>As per the images, the handset will arrive in white and light brown color options. It may also come in a grey color version that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/04/htc-u23-pro-5g-photos-spotted-108mp-ois-camera-snapdragon-7-gen-1/">was leaked in real-life pictures</a> earlier.</p>

<p>Going by the pictures, the phone’s rear design will be inspired by Samsung’s older Galaxy S Ultra models. The backside will include a quad-camera setup and the brand logo, while the front will be equipped with a centered punch-hole display.</p>

<p>Previous leaks suggest that the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. The SoC will be paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. On the software front, it will boot Android 13 and will have support for the Viverse platform.</p>

<p>The device will be built around a 120Hz AMOLED display. It will sport a 108MP primary camera assisted by OIS. Finally, it will draw energy from a 4,500mAh battery and will support wireless charging.</p>

<p>It doesn’t look like new smartphone releases will stop anytime soon. Four brands have officially confirmed to debut new phones in the next few days.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The brands we are talking about are <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Oppo/">Oppo</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Realme/">Realme</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi/">Redmi</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Lava/">Lava</a>, and <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/HTC/">HTC</a>. The first four companies will announce products in India.</p>

<p>Both Realme and Redmi have confirmed to unveil budget models, while Oppo and Lava have revealed to take wraps off mid-range devices. On the other hand, HTC will release an upper mid-range phone with Viverse support.</p>

<p>Let’s check out these handsets one by one.</p>

<h2><strong>Upcoming Smartphones Next Week</strong></h2>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3><strong>Oppo F23 5G</strong></h3>

<p>The Oppo F23 5G is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/09/oppo-f23-5g-to-launch-in-india-on-may-15th-amazon-availability-confirmed/">set to launch</a> in India on May 15 (Monday). The device is said to cost ₹23,999 and will be available for purchase from May 18.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-1024x768.jpg?x44794" alt="Oppo" class="wp-image-536232" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-696x522.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-1068x801.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-560x420.jpg 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Going by the teasers and leaks, the phone will be a rebranded Oppo A98 5G that recently went official in Malaysia. Thus, it should arrive with features, such as a 120Hz FHD+ display (LCD), Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, a 40x microlens camera, and 67W fast charging support.</p>

<p>Since there was no F21, the F23 can be regarded as the successor of the 4G-only F19 with an AMOLED display. However, the newer handset will cost as much as the F21 Pro released last year.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3><strong>Lava Agni 2 5G</strong></h3>

<p>The Lava Agni 2 5G <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/12/lava-agni-2-5g-to-launch-in-india-on-may-16-key-features-teased/">will be launched</a> in India on May 16 (Tuesday) at 12 PM IST. According to leaks and teaers, the successor of Agni will offer upgrades in multiple categories.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/photo_6248866894295708714_y-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="Lava Agni 2 5G" class="wp-image-535116" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/photo_6248866894295708714_y-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/photo_6248866894295708714_y-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/photo_6248866894295708714_y-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/photo_6248866894295708714_y-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/photo_6248866894295708714_y-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/photo_6248866894295708714_y-746x420.jpg 746w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/photo_6248866894295708714_y.jpg 1157w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>It will be one of the few handsets in the sub-₹25,000 price segment with a curved display. It will be powered by the newly announced MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset.</p>

<p>Interesingly, it will flaunt a circular camera island like premium smartphones and the back panel will be even made of glass.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3><strong>Realme Narzo N53</strong></h3>

<p>The Realme Narzo N53 is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/11/realme-narzo-n53-indian-launch-date/">scheduled to launch</a> in India on May 18 (Thursday) at 12 PM IST. Not much is known about this product, except for its design.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="529" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Realme-Narzo-N53-1-1024x529-1.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-536258" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Realme-Narzo-N53-1-1024x529-1.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Realme-Narzo-N53-1-1024x529-1-300x155.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Realme-Narzo-N53-1-1024x529-1-768x397.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Realme-Narzo-N53-1-1024x529-1-696x360.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Realme-Narzo-N53-1-1024x529-1-813x420.webp 813w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Realme</figcaption></figure>

<p>As per the official renders, the device will look like an iPhone Pro model. The brand claims that it will be its thinnest smartphone to date.</p>

<p>The handset is expected to come with a waterdrop notch and 33W fast charging support. Finally, it will be available in gold and black color options.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3><strong>HTC U23 Pro</strong></h3>

<p>The HTC U23 Pro <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/12/htc-u23-pro-to-launch-on-may-18/">will be unveiled</a> on May 18 (Thursday). It will be the first smartphone directly from the Taiwanese company after a long while.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-1024x683.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-534514" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-1024x683.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-300x200.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-768x512.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-696x464.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-1068x712.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-630x420.webp 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2.webp 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>But unfortunately, as per leaks, it could be an ODM product since it will sport a generic design mimicking Samsung&#8217;s Galaxy S Ultra lineup. The main highlights of the device will be support for HTC’s metaverse platform Viverse and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset.</p>

<p>Other expected features include a 108MP primary camera, a 120Hz centered punch-hole AMOLED display, a 4,500mAh battery, and wireless charging support.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3><strong>Redmi A2 Series</strong></h3>

<p>The Redmi A2 series is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/12/redmi-a2-series-india-launch/">confirmed to launch</a> in India on May 19 (Friday) at 11 AM IST. Usually, Xiaomi events take place at 12 PM IST in the country but this one will begin an hour earlier.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="707" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-1024x707.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi A2" class="wp-image-525154" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-1024x707.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-300x207.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-768x531.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-218x150.jpg 218w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-696x481.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-1068x738.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-608x420.jpg 608w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1.jpg 1116w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Since the Redmi A2 lineup is already official in some markets, we know everything about it. Just like its predecessor, the series includes two models, namely Redmi A2 and Redmi A2 Plus. The latter has a fingerprint sensor, which is the only difference between them.</p>

<p>The phones offer an HD+ display, MediaTek Helio G36 chip, 8MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, 5,000mAh battery, and 10W charging support.</p>

<p>Last year <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/?s=htc">HTC</a> launched the metaverse-focussed Desire 22 smartphone. Now the brand has started teasing a new smartphone based on the VIVERSE platform. For those unaware, the HTC Vive brand created the virtual reality concept Viverse. It is a metaverse world that offers immersive experiences and a seamless bridge to other virtual universes. </p>

<h2>HTC teases new VIVERSE phone </h2>

</div></figure>

<p>The teaser video shared by HTC shows just the upcoming smartphone’s exterior partially and the HTC and VIVERSE branding. The brand has not explicitly revealed the name of the upcoming offering however the caption #seeUsoon hints at an U-series device. Key details of the device are also scarce at the moment. </p>

<p>To recall, the HTC Desire 22 Pro debuted as the brand’s first smartphone with VIVERSE last year. It was a typical mid-range phone with Snapdragon 695 SoC with 8GB RAM, 120Hz display, and a 4,520mAh battery unit. It packed a number of VR-related applications.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The upcoming HTC VIVERSE could be the HTC U23 Pro that has surfaced recently. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/04/htc-u23-pro-5g-photos-spotted-108mp-ois-camera-snapdragon-7-gen-1/">leaked live image</a> of the phone revealed a rectangular camera module housing three sensors including a 108MP primary lens with OIS support. On the front, there is a center-aligned punch-hole cutout. The Geekbench benchmark listing of the smartphone revealed a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC paired with 12GB RAM. It will ship with Android 13 OS out of the box. Leaks and rumors suggest that the HTC U23 Pro may feature a 120Hz AMOLED display and a large battery with support for fast charging. </p>

<p>The HTC U23 Pro is tipped to debut next month in June.&nbsp;</p>

Expected to debut in Taiwan in June, the HTC U23 Pro could become a significant contender in the midrange smartphone market.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/htc">HTC</a> is reportedly working on a new upper-midrange phone. The Bluetooth SIG authority <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/28/htc-phone-around-corner/">certified</a> the said device last week. The listing revealed three model numbers: 2QC9200, 2QC9100, and 2QCB100. It is being said that these model numbers belong to the three different country variants of the same smartphone. It seems that it could be the HTC U23 Pro smartphone, which has been spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking platform.</p>

<p>As can be seen in the screengrab below, the forthcoming HTC U23 Pro has appeared on Geekbench 6. The Taiwanese manufacturer has launched a couple of low-end Wildfire-branded smartphones in recent months. It has also been launching Desire-series phones each year. However, the U23 Pro is the successor to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/htc-u20-5g">HTC U20 5G</a>, which was announced back in June 2020.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="718" height="940" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Geekbench.png?x44794" alt="HTC U23 Pro Geekbench listing" class="wp-image-533831" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Geekbench.png 718w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Geekbench-229x300.png 229w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Geekbench-696x911.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-Geekbench-321x420.png 321w" sizes="(max-width: 718px) 100vw, 718px" /><figcaption>HTC U23 Pro Geekbench listing</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The Geekbench listing reveals that the HTC U23 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm chip, which is equipped with four CPU cores working a 1.80GHz, three CPU cores operating at 2.36GHz, and a single CPU core running at 2.40GHz. The source code of the listing shows that the SoC includes the Adreno 644 GPU. These CPU and GPU details are enough to confirm that the HTC U23 Pro is powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochiina.com/tag/snapdragon-7-gen-1">Snapdragon 7 Gen 1</a> chipset.</p>

<p>The Geekbench listing further shows that the HTC U23 Pro has 12 GB of RAM and Android 13 OS. In the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench 6, the device scored 933 and 2351 points, respectively.</p>

<p>At present, there is no information available on the other specifications of the HTC U23 Pro. It is likely that the device may arrive with a 120Hz AMOLED display, up to 256 GB of storage, top-notch cameras, and a big battery with fast charging support. In all likelihood, the U23 Pro may debut in Taiwan in June.</p>
