<p>Huawei has been unable to use 5G technology or Google services due to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/03/05/huawei-us-export-restrictions-nvidia-qualcomm/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">US trade ban</a>. As a result, the company has relied on 4G chipsets from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Qualcomm</a> in recent years. However, there are reports that Huawei is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/13/huawei-aims-for-5g-smartphone-comeback-overcoming-us-ban-with-domestic-chip-procurement/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">working with</a> its domestic chip partner to resolve these issues and enable 5G on its devices. The Bluetooth SIG has now certified five new Huawei phones, and their identifiers show that they will offer 5G connectivity.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="536" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Huawei-5G-Smartphones-Certified-in-Bluetooth-SIG-Certification-1024x536.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei 5G Smartphones Certified in Bluetooth SIG Certification" class="wp-image-557633" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Huawei-5G-Smartphones-Certified-in-Bluetooth-SIG-Certification-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Huawei-5G-Smartphones-Certified-in-Bluetooth-SIG-Certification-300x157.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Huawei-5G-Smartphones-Certified-in-Bluetooth-SIG-Certification-768x402.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Huawei-5G-Smartphones-Certified-in-Bluetooth-SIG-Certification-696x364.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Huawei-5G-Smartphones-Certified-in-Bluetooth-SIG-Certification-1068x559.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Huawei-5G-Smartphones-Certified-in-Bluetooth-SIG-Certification-803x420.jpg 803w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Huawei-5G-Smartphones-Certified-in-Bluetooth-SIG-Certification.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The five new devices that are certified by Bluetooth SIG are:</p>

<ul><li>ADA-AN00</li><li>PSD-AN00</li><li>ADA-TN00</li><li>BLK-AN00</li><li>BLK-TN00</li></ul>

<p>The names of these new Huawei phones are unknown, but they all have either the &#8220;AN&#8221; or &#8220;TN&#8221; suffix in their model numbers, which indicates that they support 5G connectivity. To put that in context, Huawei phones with the &#8220;AL&#8221; suffix have 4G connectivity. For example, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-50/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei Mate 50 </a>has the model number CET-AL00, which means it is a 4G phone.&nbsp;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="467" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Huawei-5G-Phones-Bluetooth-SIG-Certification.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-557632" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Huawei-5G-Phones-Bluetooth-SIG-Certification.jpg 467w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Huawei-5G-Phones-Bluetooth-SIG-Certification-234x300.jpg 234w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Huawei-5G-Phones-Bluetooth-SIG-Certification-327x420.jpg 327w" sizes="(max-width: 467px) 100vw, 467px" /></figure></div>

<p>In addition to these unnamed devices, the Huawei Nova 13, Nova 14, Nova 15, and Nova 16 series have also appeared in the Bluetooth SIG certification. These phones will be available in vanilla, Pro, and Ultra versions, and their model number indicates that they will also have support for 5G connectivity.</p>

<p>As mentioned earlier, Huawei is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/13/huawei-aims-for-5g-smartphone-comeback-overcoming-us-ban-with-domestic-chip-procurement/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">said to be working with Chinese chipmaker</a> Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) to develop 5G chipsets. In particular, Huawei is rumored to make use of SMIC&#8217;s N+1 process, which is similar to the 7nm process used by other leading chipmakers. Using SMIC&#8217;s production node, Huawei could produce cheaper 5G smartphones for the mass market. This would allow it to increase sales of its smartphones and gain experience with domestic technologies for 5G smartphones. The company is reportedly aiming to launch its first 5G phones with the newly developed chipset later this year, possibly as part of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/08/08/huawei-mate-60-launch-timeline-tipped/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 60 series</a>.</p>
