<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A report by </span><a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/621/902.htm"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">IThome</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> reveals that Huawei has put some of its old 5G smartphones on sale on its official eCommerce platform Vmall. These devices belong to the Nova lineup.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The company had been selling the Huawei Nova 8 5G series every now and then. But now, for the first time, it has listed the Huawei Nova 7 5G and the Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G Lohas Edition for purchase after a long time.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For the unaware, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-nova-7-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei Nova 7 5G</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> made its debut in April 2020. It comes powered by a Hisilicon Kirin 985 chipset. On the other hand, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/22/huawei-nova-7-se-5g-lohas-edition-with-new-kirin-820e-launched-specifications-and-pricing/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G Lohas Edition</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> was announced in January 2021 with a Hisilicon Kirin 820E chip underneath it.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Apart from these two 5G-enabled phones, Huawei is also selling 5G models from the Huawei Nova 8 series. These devices are </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-nova-8-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei Nova 8 5G</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-nova-8-pro-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei Nova 8 Pro 5G</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-nova-8-se/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei Nova 8 SE 5G</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei is most likely clearing the old stock. Hence, if you are interested in buying a brand-new unused </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 5G smartphone, then this could be your last chance since the US sanctions don’t seem to go away in the near future.</span></p>

This has not only halted Huawei&#8217;s progress in the 5G smartphone domain, but may also make future expansion hard for the tech giant. Huawei is on a hunt to bring onboard new players and if rumors are anything to go by, Huawei would re-launch smartphones with 5G this time.</p>

<p>After Huawei got banned for further conducting business with American companies, it started to explore alternative sources to keep the business alive. However, some <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tags/huawei-mate-40e/">Huawei Mate 40E</a> units are still <a href="https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Huawei-crackdown/Chinese-components-double-to-60-in-new-Huawei-smartphone">reportedly</a> using American communication chips, possibly the ones acquired before the ban.</p>
<p>The Mate 40E was released in China in March and is now out of the stock for the majority of the time. What is more surprising is that the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tags/huawei-p50-pro/">Huawei P50</a> series was launched with 4G where its predecessors enjoy 5G. All because Huawei is struggling to procure components in this U.S. and Japanese hegemony.</p>
<figure id="attachment_413320" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-413320" style="width: 696px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-413320 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-1011x1024.jpeg?x44794" alt="huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg" width="696" height="705" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-1011x1024.jpeg 1011w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-296x300.jpeg 296w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-768x778.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-696x705.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-1068x1082.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-415x420.jpeg 415w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg.jpeg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-413320" class="wp-caption-text">Source: Weibo</figcaption></figure>
<p>But it looks like Huawei may finally have a solution if the <a href="https://m.weibo.cn/status/4682080372656810">rumors</a> are to be believed. A person who claims to be a Huawei employee states that Huawei would re-launch devices with 5G. This, if true, should bring joy to both the company and its users. The only way forward is by finding new sources, which is not going to be an easy task for Huawei. Note that this is just a rumor at this point so take it with a pinch of salt.</p>
<p>Huawei Mate 50 series is expected to launch later this year, and it should ideally support 5G. What remains to be seen is from where is Huawei planning to procure components.</p>

While many smartphone manufacturers are working on a 5G-compatible smartphone, none of them have officially launched a 5G smartphone.</p>
<p>While OnePlus and Samsung are said to be among the first to launch their 5G smartphones, Huawei has also confirmed that the company&#8217;s 5G smartphone will be launched soon. This puts the rumors to rest which suggested that Huawei could <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/11/15/huawei-could-showcase-its-first-5g-foldable-phone-at-mwc-2019/">unveil its 5G smartphone at MWC 2019</a> in Barcelona.</p>
<p>At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Huawei&#8217;s chairman Hu Houkun (aka Ken Hu) confirmed that the company will be launching its 5G smartphone in June this year. He also announced that the company has deployed 5G networks in 10 countries and will soon deploy in 20 more countries.<b></b></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-77915 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/huawei-logo-mwc-2015-4.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei patents" width="600" height="430" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/huawei-logo-mwc-2015-4.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/huawei-logo-mwc-2015-4-300x215.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>The announcement regarding the company&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g/">5G</a> smartphone comes at a time when Huawei is going through difficulties. Several countries have blocked Huawei from working on their network infrastructure because of national security concerns. Last month, Huawei&#8217;s CFO Meng Wanzhou was arrested in Canada, at the request of the United States, on charges related to the violation of American sanctions on Iran.</p>
<p>Hu Koukun also said that this year will be crucial for the tech sector as technologies such as the internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ai/">AI</a>), and blockchain are now reaching critical application stages.</p>
<p>It appears that South Korea could be one of the first markets to receive Huawei’s first 5G smartphone since it&#8217;s the only country along with the U.S. where commercialization of 5G network is expected to happen by the first half of 2019. In the second half of 2019, the 5G networks may get commercialized in Japan, Chin, and Europe.</p>
<p>The 5G smartphone from OnePlus is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/06/oneplus-5g-phone-with-snapdragon-855-confirmed-to-launch-in-early-2019/">confirmed</a> to be powered by Qualcomm&#8217;s latest Snapdragon 855 octa-core 7nm processor. The phone, which will kick-off a new lineup for the company, will be priced around $100 more than the OP6T and is expected to launch by the end of May this year.</p>

<p>Apart from Samsung and OnePlus, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> has already introduced its first 5G-compatible handset &#8212; Mi MIX 3, which will be released later this year. Another Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo recently demonstrated a working 5G smartphone prototype.</p>
