<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-359992" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Huawei-Nova-8-Series-December-23-Launch-.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1080" height="884" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Huawei-Nova-8-Series-December-23-Launch-.jpg 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Huawei-Nova-8-Series-December-23-Launch--300x246.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Huawei-Nova-8-Series-December-23-Launch--768x629.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Huawei-Nova-8-Series-December-23-Launch--1024x838.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Huawei-Nova-8-Series-December-23-Launch--696x570.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Huawei-Nova-8-Series-December-23-Launch--1068x874.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Huawei-Nova-8-Series-December-23-Launch--513x420.jpg 513w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></p>
<p>Tipster Digital Chat Station(via <a href="https://news.mydrivers.com/1/729/729551.htm">Mydrivers</a>) has shared the supposed specifications of the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-nova-8">Huawei Nova 8</a> and <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-nova-8-pro">8 Pro</a>. To get things out of the way, he says that the images are for reference only. Anyway, the leak says that both the devices will retain the same <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-985">Kirin 985 SoC</a> from predecessor.</p>
<p>For the unaware, Huawei <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/23/huawei-nova-7-pro-5g-nova-7-se-5g-nova-7-5g-launched/">launched the Nova 7 series</a> in April and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/15/honor-30-honor-30-pro-pro-launched-with-kirin-990-40w-charging-periscope-cameras/">Honor 30 series</a> back in April. Both the series have the same SoC which is a slightly cut-down version of the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-990">Kirin 990 flagship SoC</a>. Now, we aren&#8217;t sure how this would be possible considering early reports which say that the company&#8217;s Kirin SoC devices <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/17/huawei-phones-kirin-soc-sold-at-high-prices/">have been selling at high prices</a> due to chipset shortage.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-360144" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/nova-8-series-specs.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="892" height="432" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/nova-8-series-specs.jpg 892w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/nova-8-series-specs-300x145.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/nova-8-series-specs-768x372.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/nova-8-series-specs-696x337.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/nova-8-series-specs-867x420.jpg 867w" sizes="(max-width: 892px) 100vw, 892px" /></p>
<p>This is due to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/17/us-reinforces-restrictions-on-huaweis-access-to-chips-and-other-tech/">US ban</a> that effectively stops Huawei from producing its own Kirin SoC. Anyway, if it lands on Nova 8 series, one of the reasons could be the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/26/huawei-survival-mode-suppliers-beat-us-deadline/">result of a survival mode</a>. The company had to stock SoCs for the future before the US ban deadline arrived.</p>
<h4><strong>Huawei Nova 8, 8 Pro Specifications(Rumored)</strong></h4>
<p>Anyway, the spec sheet says that Huawei Nova 8 will have a 3D hyperboloid Glass design and a thickness of 7.64mm. It will likely feature a 90Hz <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OLED">OLED</a> curved screen with 1 billion colors. For cameras, it will have a quad-camera setup(same on 8 Pro) with a 64MP main sensor. Other sensors include an 8MP ultra-wide, two 2MP macro and depth sensors. Upfront, it will have a 32MP selfie shooter.</p>
<p>The Nova 8 Pro, on the other hand, will have an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/25/huawei-nova-8-pro-live-shots-appear-to-reveal-front-design/">ultra-curved screen</a>(80° curvature) with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1 billion colors as per the leak. However, compared to non-Pro, this will have a 32MP and a 16MP dual selfie cameras. Apparently, it has features like vlog mode, front&amp; rear dual-scene recording. It is worth noting that official teasers confirm the earlier report on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/12/huawei-nova-8-honor-v40-arriving-in-december-camera-design-revealed/">oval-shaped camera layout</a> for the Nova 8.</p>
<p>That said, both the devices are said to feature the Huawei 66W <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/supercharge">SuperCharge</a> technology. Further, Nova 8 and 8 Pro will have 8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage options. Regarding the price, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/05/huawei-nova-8-and-nova-8-plus-pricing-and-release-date-leaked/">rumors say</a> that Nova 8 will start at 3,000 yuan($458), while the Nova 8 Pro will begin at 4,000 yuan($611). Let&#8217;s wait and see if these specs turn out to be true.</p>

<p>As Digital Chat Station reports(via <a href="https://m.ithome.com/html/524357.htm">ITHome</a>), a device with a model number YOK-AN10 appears on China&#8217;s MIIT certification website. The listing shows the applicant as Glory Terminal Co Ltd.,(Translated) which refers to <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/honor">Honor</a>. Further, the listing also confirms that the device will be a <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5G">5G</a> device.</p>
<p>Now, if we recall, the tipster <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/04/honor-v40s-york-codename-and-yok-an10-model-number-revealed/">revealed the codename</a> of the upcoming Honor smartphone last week. According to him, Honor V40 will have the codename YORK and model number YOK-AN10. Hence, the above listing and tipster&#8217;s info suggests that the device is most likely the V40 from Honor. Further, he also says that the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/honor-v40">Honor V40</a> will support 66W fast charging.</p>

<p>Precisely, he says that the standard charger of Honor is reportedly the same( HW-110600C0x) as Huawei. Previously, a Huawei <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/03/huawei-66w-charger-certified-by-chinas-3c-may-ship-with-the-mate-40/">66W charger got China&#8217;s 3C certification</a> back in July. It had the model number HW-110600C00 and rated as 11V/6A. This charging tech later debuted in the company&#8217;s latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/30/huawei-mate-40-series-launched-in-china-pricing-availability-details/">flagship Mate 40 series</a>.</p>
<p>While Honor is now <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/17/huawei-sells-honor-subsidiary-to-zhixin-new-information-technology-co-ltd/">effectively independent</a> from Huawei, it seems like the company wants to use some of the latter&#8217;s technology even after parting ways. Anyway, the Honor V40 is likely to sport the MediaTek <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dimensity-1000+">Dimensity 1000+ SoC</a>. Earlier rumors said that the device will feature an AMOLED 120Hz display, 50MP Sony IMX700 RYYB camera sensor. Let&#8217;s wait for more leaks in the coming days.</p>
