Huawei is apparently working on a new all in desktop PC. The news arrives after a leak on the Qicha app revealed details of the patent for this system, which was granted to the company on 25th December 2020.

The Chinese tech giant had applied for four different patents. In other words, the company patented four different variations of the upcoming all in one desktop PC, as per a MyDrivers report. Looking at the patent, the new PC is basically designed with productivity in mind, with the focus being on video conference utility and other less intensive office work, which is become more common in the professional fields due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The primary aspect that differs each of these all in one desktops are the bases. These vary between each PC with one using a 45 degree angled base, one having a bracket design, or even using a simple straight stand and base as well. Similarly, another variation between the patents is for the heat dissipation vents, which can either be found on the back of the PC or on the sides. Notably, each variant arrives with in an ultra thin form factor.

At the moment, these are just patents and we have no way of confirming whether or not the company is actually working on such a product. The company had just recently launched the Huawei MateStation B515 desktops for enterprises, so it would not be surprising if it aims at launching similar work oriented stations, since it did plan on expanding its presence in the desktop market as well. Chinese giant Huawei, which is currently working on strategies to keep its business afloat, is gearing up to launch a new device in the market by the end of this year. The product is expected to be a desktop computer.

As per the report, the upcoming desktop computer from Huawei will be powered by the company’s own Kunpeng 920 chipset, along with a graphics processor from AMD which the leak reveals could be Radeon R7 430.

It is said that the device will feature a 23.8-inch display and could be aimed at business use. While the exact product is not yet known, it could be the same computer that was previously leaked.

Previous leaks indicate that the device could pack 8GB DDR4-2666 RAM and 256GB SSD storage. It is also expected to have an optical drive, keyboard, mouse, 180W power supply, and the company’s own Kylin operating system

The Huawei HiSilicon Kunpeng 920 chipset is manufactured using a 7nm process and is based on the ARM architecture that was launched back in 2019. It offers high performance and is generally aimed at workstation builds or larger server-based applications.

The Chinese giant, which already has its presence in the laptop category with its Huawei as well as Honor-branded devices, is looking to enter the desktop PC and monitor category for some time now. It will be interesting to see Huawei compete against the likes of HP and Dell in this space.

Huawei is known for its diverse consumer electronics portfolio that is sold across the globe. However, the one market that the company hasn’t entered is desktop PCs. Although, that might soon change as a new report suggests that the company’s Kunpeng 920 powered PC may soon be listed on Huawei Mall.

Previously, we had reported on Huawei launching its own workstation oriented PC for professionals that run the Kunpeng 920 processor to rival Intel workstations. Since then, other reports had also surfaced that the company is also looking into entering the consumer PC market as well, which arrives as the overall PC and laptop sales have grown in recent times due to work from home becoming more popular due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

For those unaware, the Kunpeng 920 processor is a proprietary chip made by Huawei, which is built on the 7nm process and is based on the ARM architecture that was launched back in 2019. It offers high performance and is generally aimed at workstation builds or larger server based applications. A known Weibo blogger (@勇气数码君) recently noticed multiple listings for a new desktop PC that were listed under the model name of “Yellow River K680 G1.”

Unfortunately, images were not available of this PC, although, certain specs had been revealed. The desktop features a Kunpeng 920 processor along with 8GB of DDR4 2666MHz RAM and 256GB of SD storage. It also sports an AMD Radeon R7 430 graphics card and arrives with a DVD drive, keyboard and mouse as well. Its PSU is a 180W power supply and runs the Kylin operating system.

Unfortunately, these specs do not make the desktop look like a great build from today’s standards, but it might be aimed for general office based workloads rather than gaming or content creation. Furthermore, Huawei has also grown as a laptop maker with its MateBook series and its sub-brand Honor’s Hunter series now targetting both the ultrabook category and gaming laptop markets as well. So, these might be the basic models that the company is offering now and we can probably expect to see beefier pre-built desktops from the Chinese tech giant later on.

In a conference earlier today (23rd September 2020), Wang Yinfeng, President of Huawei Tablet and PC product line, confirmed that the company is actively working towards launching consumer grade desktops in the market along with new monitors in the near future.

Previously, we had reported on the Chinese tech giant looking to launch a curved gaming monitor series, which is likely a part of the company’s proprietary monitor brand. With this, Huawei will also be competing with another Chinese company that recently entered the monitor market, Xiaomi. Reports have also revealed the supplier, BOE, that would ship the first 2 to 3 batches of the displays panels. The sizes of the Huawei monitors have been hinted at 27 inch and 34 inch variants.

Furthermore, the company had also recently launched a workstation desktop that was powered by a Kunpeng 920 processor. However, this was only aimed at developers and not the consumer, but the conference from today revealed that Huawei will soon launch desktop PCs for consumers as well, as per a MyDrivers report. According to the senior executive, the company is developing commercial grade desktop products as well that should arrive soon.

Unfortunately, no specific deadlines or launch dates were given out during the event. It is also unknown what exactly the branding of these new desktop and PC peripheral products will carry. Huawei notebooks have gained a firm foothold in the domestic Chinese market and have also driven the progress of the entire industry. The much-touted Huawei desktop PC is also about to set off a storm in the PC industry. The packaging box of the Huawei desktop PC has been shared by some netizens with key specs of the desktop PC in view.

The label on the box shows that the specific model of the Huawei desktop is Huangue K680 G1 with the production date given as July 3. Some of the key specifications include a self-developed Kunpeng 920 8-core processor, 8GB DDR4-2666 memory, and 256GB solid-state Hard disk (SSD). The laptop is also listed to feature an AMD Radeon R7 430 discrete graphics card, a DVD drive and inside the packaging box is a keyboard and mouse. The desktop PC is listed to have a power rating of 180W and is pre-installed with the domestic Galaxy Kylin operating system.Huawei first announced the Kunpeng 920 processor early last year. It is manufactured using the 7nm process and features an ARM architecture with up to 64 cores, maximum frequency 2.6GHz, and supports PCIe 4.0, eight-channel DDR4 memory. The processor can be used in servers, data centres and consumer desktop market, as well as desktop products for corporate customers.

The AMD R7 430 used is a standard OEM entry-level model which is commonly used by PC brands such as HP and Dell. There are only 384 stream processors, and the performance is basically equivalent to that of the NVIDIA GT 640 and GTX 650.

According to reports, Huawei’s self-developed desktop computers have been piloted in many places to replace the traditional combination of AMD/Intel+Windows, and the feedback received is also very good. This year, combined with national strategic preparations, it is comprehensively covering government systems, education systems, and large and medium-sized enterprises in various regions. It will gradually be promoted to consumer-level use.

Huawei’s desktop computer is manufactured by Huanghe Technology Group located in Xuchang City, Henan Province. At the beginning of this year, the Huanghe Kunpeng server and desktop production line reportedly began rolling and the first batch of product delivery ceremony was held in Xuchang.

Huawei has been long reported to enter the desktop PC market. There have been multiple leaks and rumors in the past few months regarding this computer. Recently, it even appeared in renders revealing its entire design. Now, it also gets 3C certification in China exposing its manufacturer.

Huawei has been selling laptops for a few years now. All of them are powered by Intel or AMD chipsets and mostly run Microsoft Windows. For those aware, there are some laptop models by the company with Ubuntu on-board.

But with its first desktop PC, the company is taking a different route. According to leaks, it will be powered by Huawei’s in-house 7nm HiSilcion Kunpeng 920 3211K processor paired with AMD Radeon 520 GPU. It will come equipped with 8GB RAM, 512GB Samsung SSD, and will run UOS (Unity Operating System), a Chinese Linux distro developed by UnionTech.

As per 3C certification, it is manufactured by Hongfujin Precision Electronics, a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision, which is commonly known as Foxconn.

This machine is reported to be marketed as Qingyun W510. It will include a 23.8-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) monitor with 70% color gamut, a keyboard, and a mouse. For ports, it is said to feature 7 x USB Type-A, 1 x USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, and ethernet. It will also feature an optical drive.

Having said that, Huawei is yet to announce the launch date of its first desktop PC, which is reported to be made available only in certain provinces of China.

A report that emerged in January this year indicated that Huawei was planning to launch a desktop PC and had already begun market research. Tech giant, Huawei has got several products under its belt ranging from smartphones, laptops, tablets, smartwatch, fitness band, to routers. But the company is yet to launch a desktop PC.

Right now, renders of what is said to be the rumoured Huawei desktop PC has appeared online. The desktop PC is said to have appeared on the official website of Huawei’s developers. It is reported that the PC is called Qingyun W510 and is manufactured by Foxconn.

Going by the renders, the desktop PC is equipped with a complete host, a display, keyboard and a mouse. The front of the main unit adopts a straight grid design, and the appearance is relatively simple.

According to previous reports, Huawei’s desktop is expected to be equipped with Kunpeng 920 3211K, with a 24-core specification, a frequency of up to 2.6GHz, and a non-removable CPU board. The desktop PC is said to have been designed for government and enterprise customers and is equipped with China-made UOS and so Windows cannot be installed.

Not long ago, UOS V20 Professional Edition (1021) was released. Compared to the previous version, UOS Desktop V20 Professional Edition has a new style of launcher and many powerful self-developed applications, including scan management, backup and restore, installer, file security function.

In July of this year, leakster @_rogame once exposed the appearance of a new Huawei desktop PC. The image is consistent with the design of the new image exposed this time. The PC comes with 3 USB-A and 1 USB-C port and a headphone port on the front of the device. Further, the PC is said to be equipped with an optical drive, and on the back are 4 USB-A ports, network cable ports, etc.

We don’t have any idea of when Huawei will launch this model. We also expect more detailed specs will emerge soon.
