It has been revealed by one of the most famous leaksters online: Evan Blass, and just one day after this leak, a new report revealed the launch date of the handset in Europe, together with its price tag. According to the new report, the midrange will be officially available to purchase in Europe in late January.

The European price will be 249 euros (that is equivalent to about $300) for the base variant with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, the report only mentions the 3/32 GB version of the phone, we still do not know if and when the most powerful version with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM will go on sale outside of China. In case you do not remember, Huawei P Smart has a full metal unibody design and it sports a bezel-less display just like every midrange phone launched by Huawei in the latest months.

The panel has a size of 5.65 inches and it can show images at a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. On the hardware side, Huawei P Smart is equipped with an octa-core Kirin 659 SoC running at a max frequency of 2.36 GHz. On the rear side, there is a dual camera setup with resolutions of 13 + 2 MP, while the front camera has an 8 MP resolution. The battery has a capacity of 3000 mAh and Android Oreo is installed out of the box. Full specs here!

They have good performance and they are well balanced in every aspect. Given that we are talking about two of the best midranges sold at around 200 dollars, we think it is time to make a Huawei Enjoy 7S vs Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus comparison to help you save money in the best way.

Even though both these phones have a metal design and a borderless display with a similar screen-to-body ratio, their dimensions are different. While Huawei Honor 7S is thinner and more compact, Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is bigger but it also has a bigger display. The viewing quality of these displays should not be very different on paper as they both have a Full HD+ resolution but Huawei Enjoy 7S has a slightly higher pixel density as its display is smaller. On the other hand, the Redmi 5 Plus has a bigger and more comfortable display.

On the hardware side, it is a challenge between Kirin 659 and Snapdragon 625: we still do not know how these midrange SoCs behave on these phones. Snapdragon 625 may be more efficient, while Kirin 659 may be more powerful. A real advantage of Huawei Enjoy 7S is the fact that it has been launched with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, while Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus has Nougat and you will have to wait almost a year to get the latest version.

But MIUI 9 is full of features and it is a very advanced user interface, so you shouldn’t mind the wait for Oreo. The dual camera setup of Huawei Enjoy 7S should also be better than the single camera found on Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, but we cannot say for sure until we see the first camera samples. On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus has a much bigger battery and a longer battery life.

Personally, I would go for the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus because it has a way longer battery life and it makes a big difference these days. Huawei Enjoy 7S has been launched in China (and probably it will stay there) with a price tag of about 227 dollars (192 euros), while Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus starts from 151 dollars (128 euros), so R5P is also more affordable.

Huawei Enjoy 7S Design

The Huawei Enjoy 7S sports a full-screen display with minimal bezels and a two-tone finish on the rear. The upper part where the cameras sit and the lower part which houses the antenna have a lighter shade compared to the rest of the phone. Our guess is that the lighter parts are made of plastic while the area around the fingerprint scanner is metal.

The cameras are raised but sit closer to the edge compared to that of the Honor 7X. However, both the 7S and 7X share a similar front design even though the latter has a larger display.

The Honor 7S measures 150.1 x 7 2.05 x 7.45 (mm) and weighs 143g.

Enjoy 7S Specs

The Huawei Enjoy 7S packs a 5.65-inch 2160 x 1080 display. It comes in 3GB RAM + 32GB and 4GB RM + 64GB variants and both are powered by the Kirin 659.

It has dual rear cameras like its cousin the Honor 7X but in a 13MP + 2MP combo. There is also an 8MP front facing camera for selfies.

While the Honor 7X comes with Android Nougat out of the box, the Enjoy 7S gets Android Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on top. Some of the features it brings includes single key split-screen and face unlock.

The Enjoy 7S has a 3000mAh battery capacity, dual SIM support (nano only), storage expansion slot (256GB max.), rear mounted fingerprint scanner, and Bluetooth 4.2. You also get a micro USB port and a 3.5mm audio jack at the bottom.
