These earbuds are priced at ¥899 ($140) in China. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">This means they are ¥100 cheaper than the original HUAWEI FreeBuds 4, which retail for ¥999 ($155). Either way, the company is currently offering a ¥30 ($5) discount on both models for a limited time.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The new truly wireless earphones from Huawei are exactly the same as its original model from earlier this year. But as mentioned earlier, it lacks wireless charging and therefore, only charges via the USB Type-C port.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Talking about specs, these semi-open earbuds feature 14.3mm drivers and weigh about 4.1g each. They are IPX4-rated for splash resistance and support touch gesture controls.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The earphones connect via Bluetooth 5.2 and support dual-device connection as well as fast pairing with devices running </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/EMUI/"><span style="font-weight: 400">EMUI 10</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> or above and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/HarmonyOS/"><span style="font-weight: 400">HarmonyOS</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. Like most truly wireless earphones in the market, these also come with ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) and wear detection.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As far as endurance is concerned, Huawei claims 4 hours on a full charge and 22 hours with the charging case. It is worth noting that these numbers are for when ANC is disabled.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Last but not least, the HUAWEI FreeBuds 4 Wired Charging Version comes in three colors, namely Frost Silver, Ceramic White, and Honey Red.</span></p>

Huawei FreeBuds 4 was <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/05/19/huawei-freebuds-4-arrives-semi-in-ear-design-active-noise-cancellation/">first unveiled in China</a> last month with a retail price of 999 yuan (~$155). The FreeBuds 4 will begin its global journey in the UK on June 21 with a starting price of £129.99 for the wired charging edition. The earbuds are presently on reservation via <a href="https://consumer.huawei.com/uk/headphones/freebuds4/buy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei Store</a> and other retail channels until June 20. Huawei will also be launching the wireless charging edition of the FreeBuds 4 in mid-July for £149.99.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-5.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-392824" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-5.png?x10805" alt="Huawei FreeBuds 4" width="869" height="620" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-5.png 869w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-5-300x214.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-5-768x548.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-5-100x70.png 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-5-696x497.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-5-589x420.png 589w" sizes="(max-width: 869px) 100vw, 869px" /></a></p>
<p>Huawei touts the FreeBuds 4 as featuring an upgraded Open-fit ANC 2.0 technology which brings improvement to the noise cancellation at the hardware and software level. Also, the earbuds adopt a dual-microphone noise cancellation technology which delivers upgraded noise cancellation performance. Huawei claims the headsets are the first open-fit earbuds in the industry to use dual-microphone noise cancellation technology. This design ensures that the microphones pick up ambient noise with far greater accuracy, reaching industry-leading levels.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-6.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-392825" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-6.png?x10805" alt="Huawei FreeBuds 4" width="1004" height="570" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-6.png 1004w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-6-300x170.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-6-768x436.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-6-696x395.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-6-740x420.png 740w" sizes="(max-width: 1004px) 100vw, 1004px" /></a></p>
<p>In terms of the design, the FreeBuds 4 truly wireless earbuds still use a semi-in-ear design just like the FreeBuds 3. The device also comes with Adaptive Ear Matching (AEM) noise cancellation technology which enhances noise cancellation effectively across different wearing scenarios. How this works is that when the noise cancellation is turned on, the earbuds automatically detect the user’s ear shape and determine the optimum noise cancellation setup for each user, resulting in the most comfortable noise cancellation experience.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-official.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-392826" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-official.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="700" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-official.jpg 700w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-official-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-official-696x390.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></a></p>
<p>In terms of sound quality, Huawei’s FreeBuds 4 uses a classic dynamic speaker structure. It features a Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) diaphragm that is lighter and more rigid. This takes the headset’s frequency response range up to 40kHz. The bass is also of vivid sound quality.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-4.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-392823" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-4.png?x10805" alt="Huawei FreeBuds 4 UK" width="796" height="564" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-4.png 796w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-4-300x213.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-4-768x544.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-4-100x70.png 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-4-696x493.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-4-593x420.png 593w" sizes="(max-width: 796px) 100vw, 796px" /></a></p>
<p>Further, the FreeBuds 4 is equipped with a high-sensitivity microphone that can record high-fidelity sound with a sampling rate of up to 48 kHz, retaining the rich details of the sound. The microphone also has a powerful noise pickup reduction.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-392820" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global.png?x10805" alt="Huawei FreeBuds 4" width="792" height="556" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global.png 792w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-300x211.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-768x539.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-100x70.png 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-696x489.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/huawei-freebuds-4-global-598x420.png 598w" sizes="(max-width: 792px) 100vw, 792px" /></a></p>
<p>In terms of connectivity, the Huawei FreeBuds 4 supports dual device connectivity, allowing users to pair simultaneously with any two of a Huawei smartphone, tablet, PC, smartwatch or smart display, or any other smart devices running Android, iOS, or Windows OS. With this style, when the user is using the tablet to listen to music or watch a movie if a phone call comes in, the video is paused while the earbuds swiftly switch to the phone. The Audio Connectivity Centre within Huawei AI Life contains the list of the ten recently connected devices, allowing users to switch between devices seamlessly.</p>

The wireless <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/earbuds">earbuds</a> come with active noise cancellation. The FreeBuds 4 is priced at 999 yuan (~$155) and will go on sale on June 1.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official-3.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-390428" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official-3.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei FreeBuds 4" width="700" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official-3.jpg 700w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official-3-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official-3-696x390.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></a></p>
<p>In terms of the design, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-freebuds-4i/">Huawei FreeBuds 4</a> truly wireless earbuds still use a semi-in-ear design just like FreeBuds 3. Huawei says it collected tens of thousands of 3D human ear model data to create a wearing comfort that meets the needs of more people, making it more comfortable than in-ear headphones. The earbuds are said to fit the user&#8217;s ears better and are not stuffy when worn for a long time.</p>
<p>Huawei FreeBuds 4 retains support for active noise cancellation technology, which is more difficult to apply to semi-in-ear headphones. Most of the common active noise reduction headphones use in-ear design, precisely because the in-ear design has better innate sealing. However, to solve this challenge, the FreeBuds 4 adopts the &#8220;dual-microphone hybrid noise reduction technology&#8221; bringing an excellent noise reduction performance.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official-2.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-390427" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official-2.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei FreeBuds 4" width="700" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official-2.jpg 700w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official-2-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official-2-696x390.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></a></p>
<p>In terms of sound quality, Huawei’s FreeBuds 4 uses a classic dynamic speaker structure. It features a liquid crystal composite (LCP) diaphragm that is lighter and more rigid. This takes the headset’s frequency response range up to 40kHz. The bass is also of vivid sound quality.</p>
<p>Further, the FreeBuds 4 is equipped with a high-sensitivity microphone that can record high-fidelity sound with a sampling rate of up to 48 kHz, retaining the rich details of the sound. The microphone also has a powerful noise pickup reduction.</p>
<p>In terms of the smart connection, the FreeBuds 4 supports dual connections with mobile phones, tablets, PCs, watches, and smart screens. For example, when the user is using the tablet to listen to music or watch a movie if a phone call comes in, the tablet will automatically pause the content, and the headset will seamlessly switch to the phone channel. In the Huawei Audio Connection Center, you can switch devices with one key without repeating the tedious operation of disconnecting and connecting before.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-390426" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei FreeBuds 4" width="700" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official.jpg 700w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/huawei-freebuds-official-696x390.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></a></p>
<p>Each of the earbuds weighs only 4.1g while the storage box weighs 38g. As for the pricing, the Huawei FreeBuds 4 starts at 999 yuan (~$155) and will be sold via <a href="https://consumer.huawei.com/cn/headphones/freebuds4/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei Mall</a>, Huawei experience stores, major authorized e-commerce, and other retail licensees.</p>

The storage case is shorter which indicates that the FreeBuds 4 will have a shorter stem. The case also seems to have an LCD screen at the front that&#8217;ll possibly display the battery level. The wider storage box also suggests the FreeBuds 4 have a longer battery life than its predecessor.</span></p>

<p>The poster shared by the company showcases that the upcoming earphones as well as its charging or carrying case look almost similar to its predecessor. The company has adopted the semi in-ear design for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/earbuds">earbuds</a> instead of the full in-ear design.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-389587 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Huawei-FreeBuds-4-Launch-Date.jpeg?x10805" alt="Huawei FreeBuds 4 Launch Date" width="690" height="388" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Huawei-FreeBuds-4-Launch-Date.jpeg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Huawei-FreeBuds-4-Launch-Date-300x169.jpeg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>Now, with this semi in-ear design of the Huawei FreeBuds 4, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/anc">noise cancellation</a> feature&#8217;s performance remains to be seen. It will be interesting to see how the company has managed to offer this feature.</p>
<p>Its predecessor, the Huawei FreeBuds 3 launched in 2019, comes powered by the company&#8217;s own <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-a1">Kirin A1 chipset</a> and supports noise cancellation. Given the company&#8217;s issues with the chipset business, it is not yet known if Huawei can use its own chip or chooses to use a different chip for the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tws-earphones">earphones</a>.</p>
<p>The Huawei FreeBuds 4 TWS earphones will be made available in at least three color options &#8212; White, Gray, and Red. Ahead of the launch on 19th May, the earphones are already available for pre-sale on Huawei Mall.</p>
<p>At the 19th May launch event, Huawei is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/05/13/huawei-announce-new-products-on-may-19/">expected to announce several other products</a>, including TVs, earphones, and smartwatches. It could also launch a high-end notebook and a new Mate-branded tablet, among others.</p>
<p>While the company has yet to officially announce the products that will be released on the launch event, we have recently covered a few devices that we expect to be announced on this date. This includes the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/05/12/new-huawei-childrens-watch-4x-leak-first-look/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">new variant of the Huawei Children’s Watch 4X</a>, which was leaked recently, along with the Huawei Body Fat Scale 3 Pro.</p>
<p>OPPO <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/05/14/oppo-enco-anc-launch-20-may/">has also confirmed</a> that it will be launching its new OPPO Enco TWS earphones in China on 20th May, the same day when Vivo is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/05/13/vivo-tws-2-china-launch-20-may/">scheduled to launch</a> its new Vivo TWS 2 true wireless earphones.</p>

<p>Despite the problems, Huawei continues to march ahead with the launch of several new products. In line with that, the company is reportedly all set to host a launch event next month, most likely on 19th May.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-386986 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Huawei-May2021-Launch-Event-Rumors.png?x10805" alt="Huawei May 2021 Launch Event Rumors" width="1186" height="732" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Huawei-May2021-Launch-Event-Rumors.png 1186w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Huawei-May2021-Launch-Event-Rumors-300x185.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Huawei-May2021-Launch-Event-Rumors-768x474.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Huawei-May2021-Launch-Event-Rumors-1024x632.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Huawei-May2021-Launch-Event-Rumors-356x220.png 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Huawei-May2021-Launch-Event-Rumors-696x430.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Huawei-May2021-Launch-Event-Rumors-1068x659.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Huawei-May2021-Launch-Event-Rumors-680x420.png 680w" sizes="(max-width: 1186px) 100vw, 1186px" /></p>
<p>At the event, the company is expected to launch several new products, including its new semi in-ear <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tws-earphones">true-wireless earphones</a> named FreeBuds 4. It is expected to have a newly refined and stylish design and offer powerful noise reduction as well as battery life.</p>
<p>Additionally, there will also be Huawei Watch 3 series of smartwatches which are expected to come powered by the company&#8217;s own <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos">HarmonyOS</a> (HongMeng OS in China) and a new user interface. The device is said to have support for eSIM and have a powerful app marketplace but we will have to wait for the launch to know for sure about the apps.</p>
<p>It is also reported that the company is working on a new 16-inch high-end notebook named <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-matebook-16">MateBook 16</a> but more information about this device is not known at this time. It also remains to be seen if this laptop gets launched at the same event.</p>
<p>Despite facing issues in the smartphone business, the company isn&#8217;t backing down. It is reportedly planning to launch three foldable smartphones in the market across different price ranges The company <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/04/23/huawei-mate-40-pro-mate-x2-4g-listed-china/">recently listed</a> the Huawei Mate40 Pro 4G and the Huawei Mate X2 4G smartphones on its website in China.</p>
<p>Huawei reported about a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/04/29/huawei-reports-decline-q1-2021-revenue-struggling-smartphone-arm/">16.5 percent dip in its revenue</a> in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year. This is mainly due to the US sanctions that forced the company to revamp its business strategy and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/17/huawei-sells-honor-subsidiary-to-zhixin-new-information-technology-co-ltd/">selling its subsidiary Honor</a> last year.</p>
