Huawei Launches the Freebuds Pro 2, its Latest Premium Wireless ANC Earphones, in Malaysia

After launching in the European market earlier in June 2022, Huawei has finally brought its latest top-of-the-line premium wireless ANC earphones, the Huawei Freebuds Pro 2, to another key global market, Malaysia.

Co-engineered with Paris-based sound technology company Devialet, the new Huawei Freebuds Pro 2 aims to serve the ultimate acoustic audio experience for its buyers.

Starting with the design, the Huawei Freebuds Pro 2 arrives with a sleek and slim case that resembles much of the Apple AirPods Pro, but Huawei has managed to paint the casing with a matte finish to prevent fingerprints and to provide the case with more grip. Coming to the earbuds themselves, both earbuds are covered in a glossy, shiny, and glimmering paint job, which will attract some attention when you are out in public. Build quality is also on par with the competition with its IP54-rated dust and water resistance.

Audio quality wise, the newly announced Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 come with dual drivers and three microphones for 47dB noise suppression. These earbuds set a new benchmark for the company in terms of noise cancellation as in the previous generation model, the highest it could go was at 40dB. The new drivers onboard also support the largest audio frequency range in any Huawei earphones to date, going from 14Hz to 48kHz.

HUAWEI officially teases FreeBuds Pro 2 in China: World’s first HWA-certifed stereo eabuds

Earlier today, HUAWEI officially teased the FreeBuds Pro 2 through their official Weibo account. The FreeBuds Pro 2 is notably the world’s first HWA or Hi-Res Wireless Audio certified TWS earbuds. It will be released in the Chinese market on the 27th of July this year.

The “High-Definition Wireless Audio Technology and Equipment Specifications and Test Methods” (also known as the “HWA standard,” or “Hi-Res Wireless Audio”), which was jointly developed by the China Electronic Audio Industry Association and China Electronics Technology Standardization Institute, was officially released on July 13 by more than 30 domestic and foreign businesses, including Sennheiser, Goertek, and Huawei.

The HWA certification mark does exist with the Hi-Res Wireless certification on the box of the Chinese version of the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2.

Each Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 headset weighs 5.9 grams, which is less than its predecessor, according to reports. The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 has three microphones and an 11mm unit with a frequency response range of 14 Hz to 40 kHz. It also supports Bluetooth 5.2 and LDAC, AAC, and SBC decoding. This headset has three modes for noise reduction: normal, comfort, and super, as well as an outdoor awareness mode. It also offers a noise reduction depth of up to 47dB.

Like other earbuds, the Freebuds Pro 2 can detect ambient noises and cancel them out while on a call. A new deep neural network technique that learns and adjusts over time is what Huawei improved here. The earbuds should sound great as a result of the collaboration with Devialet.

At the time of launch, Huawei didn’t reveal the battery’s capacity, but guaranteed battery life of up to 30 hours when used with the case. It is claimed that a single charge will last for 4 hours of playback with active noise cancellation and 6.5 hours without. Additionally, the earbuds are IP54 compliant for water and dust resistance, something its predecessors weren’t.

Globally, the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 retails at $200 approx (around 1400 CNY) and comes in Silver Frost, Ceramic White, and new Silver Blue colors.

It will be available in the Chinese market on 27th July alongside HUAWEI Watch 3 Pro ECG Version, Smart Screen S Pro 86, the new MateBook X Pro, MatePad Pro 11, and Huawei Enjoy 50 Pro, among others.

Huawei teased its next-generation FreeBuds Pro 2 TWS earbuds for a few days and the company has now officially launched the wireless audio wearable product at a launch event for Central and Eastern European.

The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 TWS earbuds have been made in collaboration with France-based sound technology company Devialet. Compared to the processor, the new earphones come with improved performance and longer battery life.

The newly announced Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 come with dual drivers and three microphones for 47dB noise suppression. This is a new benchmark for the company in terms of noise cancellation as in the previous generation model, it was at 40dB.

It supports the biggest frequency range for Huawei earbuds, going from 14Hz to 48kHz. The company has also added an adaptive equalizer that learns the user behavior and tweaks the audio for better sound output.

The noise cancellation feature supports three different modes — General Mode, Cozy Mode, and Ultra Mode. There’s also an Awareness Mode when the user wants to be aware of the surroundings during outdoor activities. Unlike its predecessor, this time the earbuds are IP54 compliant for water and dust resistance.

Huawei has not revealed the battery capacity of the FreeBuds Pro 2 but has promised up to 30 hours of battery life with the charging case. It offers four hours of playback on a single charger with ANC enabled and 6.5 hours without Active Noise Cancellation.

The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 comes in three color options — Silver Blue, Silver Frost (Black), and Ceramic White and is priced at about €200. Those who pre-order the earbuds will get Huawei Band 7 for free. It is now up for pre-order and will start shipping from 11th July.

Huawei has teased the launch of a new accessory on its Twitter handle today. The company has not explicitly announced the name of the device but it is expected to be the Freebuds Pro 2 TWS earphones. The upcoming offering will be second-generation flagship truly wireless earbuds from the company.

The teaser shared by Huawei includes an image that likely indicates the FreeBuds Pro 2. The teaser image is also in line with a past report from tipster Roland Quandt who leaked key information and renders of the TWS earphones. The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2’s launch date remains unknown but we can expect it to be announced soon.

As per rumours, the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 will be developed in collaboration with French-based audio manufacturer Devialet. It will be equipped with dual speakers and come with Hi-Res Audio as well as ‘Triple Adaptive Equalizer’. The upcoming audio device is tipped to feature active noise cancellation up to 47dB. The TWS earphone is claimed to deliver six hours of battery life without ANC and four hours with the feature enabled.

Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 flagship TWS earbuds set to launch next month

Huawei is gearing up to launch its second-generation flagship true wireless earbuds in the market, dubbed Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2. While the exact launch date is not yet known, the company is expected to launch it sometime next month.

As per the report, the upcoming Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 will be the first earphones from the brand made in collaboration with France-based audio products manufacturer Devialet.

Devialet is known for elaborately constructed and high-priced speakers and the company will be responsible for tuning the integrated speakers in the Huawei earbuds.

The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 will come with dual drivers where one driver will be handling the bass and another the mids and highs. The second-generation earbuds are said to deliver a frequency response range of 14Hz to 48,000Hz.

The earbuds will come with support for Hi-Res Audio and a “Triple Adaptive Equalizer” in which the volume, position, and sound are adjusted simultaneously in order to achieve optimal playback, says the company.

They are also expected to come with a more powerful Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) where the noise reduction depth can reach 47dB. As for the battery life, it is said to offer four hours of usage with ANC enabled and up to six hours of usage without ANC. It can last for about 30 hours when charged with the carrying case.

The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 will be launched in three color options — Blue Silver, Ceramic White, and Frost Silver respectively. In Germany, the official price recommendation will probably be 199 euros, which is about $207.
