Huawei has officially launched its FreeClip open-ear true wireless earbuds in India, bringing a fresh take on TWS audio with a unique and lightweight design. Unlike traditional in-ear buds, the FreeClip features an open-ear design, so here’s everything you need to know.

Huawei FreeClip: What makes it special?

The Chinese tech giant unveiled the FreeClip a while back in China, with new Beige and Rose Gold color options dropping later on. But now, these open ear TWS are finally making their way to the Indian market. It features a unique design that brings an ergonomic fit from the Comfort Bean shape. The C-bridge connects the earpiece to the Acoustic Ball for a rounded style that helps offer a great fit on the user’s ears. An open-ear design enables you to be completely aware of your surroundings, even while listening to music.

These earbuds are rated IP54 for water and dust resistance and house 10.8mm dual magnet drivers for improved bass. Huawei’s FreeClip also supports SBC, AAC, and L2HC codecs for audio streaming. On a single full charge, these can deliver up to 8 hours of playback, which can be boosted to 32 hours with the pebbled shaped charging case. Just a quick 10 minute charge can also offer 3 hours of battery life.

Other notable features include gesture controls and head movement controls, dual device connection, AI Crystal Clear Call, and more. It is currently available for purchase in India for 14,999 INR. Baseu has just unveiled the new AirGo AS01 truly wireless earbuds in China. The brand’s latest hearables feature a unique design and some notable features. So here’s everything you need to know regarding the specs, pricing, and more.

Talking about the design, the earbuds offer an open-ear design that is similar to the Huawei FreeClip. The open-back nature basically means that users can enjoy music while being aware of their surroundings. It houses a 10mm dynamic audio driver and brings support for noise reduction via a dual mic setup, and directional sound transmission technology.

The Baseus AirGo A201 TWS earbuds support Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity and each earbuds weigh just 4.6 grams. On a single full charge, the wireless earphones can last for 6 hours, with the charging case offering an additional 25 hours of audio playback. The case offers a USB Type-C port for charging. Notably, the earbuds and the case is made using TPU materials. It has an official price tag of 129 Yuan (roughly 18 US Dollars) but is available for an introductory price of just 107 Yuan (roughly 15 US Dollars).

Huawei has introduced its FreeClip Open-Ear Buds globally, initially debuting in the UK and EU. The latest unveiling took place at the Huawei Nova 12 series launch event, marking the availability of the FreeClip Open-Ear Buds in the brand’s home country, China.

What’s unique about the FreeClip Open-Ear Buds is the fact that it’s the industry’s first open headset that doesn’t differentiate between left and right ears. Weighing only 5.6g in a single ear, they prioritize a comfortable and balanced listening experience.

The FreeClip, comprising the Comfort Bean, Acoustic Ball, and C-bridge section, prioritizes both comfort and functionality. The ergonomic Comfort Bean seamlessly fits the ear contours, the Acoustic Ball eliminates potential discomfort, and the C-bridge incorporates adaptive sensors and a thin cantilevered beam with nine core wires.

The earbuds include the ability to connect to two devices simultaneously, supporting SBC, AAC, and L2HC. The earbuds are compatible with both Android and iOS devices, promoting versatility. Additionally, they hold an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance, ensuring durability in various environments.

Huawei is rolling out the first software update for its FreeClip earphones

Huawei‘s new open-back FreeClip earbuds (review), recently launched globally, are receiving their first software update. This update, weighing in at just 794KB, focuses on improving Bluetooth connectivity and stability.

The changelog highlights enhanced Bluetooth performance, meaning you can expect fewer dropped connections and a smoother listening experience. Huawei hasn’t detailed any other changes, but there might be some hidden optimizations tucked away in the firmware.

To update your FreeClips earphones, simply open the Huawei Smart AI Life app and navigate to the Device section. If the update is available, you’ll see it listed in the settings. Tap to download and install, and your earbuds will be up-to-date in no time.

To recap, Huawei FreeClip are company’s first open-ear style earphones that don’t require users to discern between left and right ears. It comes in a unique two-part structure consisting of a comfort bean (rear portion) and an acoustic ball (speaker) joined in by a C-bridge design.

The earbuds are also pretty lightweight at just 5.6 grams per bud and are reversible meaning you don’t need to determine which bud fits in which ear. Huawei says the onboard sensors determine which bud is in which ear and tune it accordingly.

As with other open-ear earphones, the FreeClip doesn’t sit up against your ear canal, so you will pretty much be hearing outside-world noises, no matter what.

You can connect these buds to two devices simultaneously, offering users flexibility in terms of devices. These are also IP54 dust and water-resistant and offer a battery life of up to 32 hours. They also support fast charging allowing for 3 hours of listening time with just 10 minutes of charge.

Huawei’s first open-back earphones, FreeClip, leaks before launch

Huawei’s much-anticipated Dubai product launch is just hours away. The company is expected to launch at least two products at the event, a sleek tablet and, most intriguingly, an open-back style earphone, called Hawei FreeClip. Ahead of the launch, a leaked promo material has now given us a glimpse of these innovative open-back earphones.

The FreeClip is the company’s debut foray into open-back earphones. As can be seen in the promo, each earpiece consists of two parts connected by a unique curved center-piece. Huawei is calling it a C-bridge design, and it looks reminiscent of a modern clip earring.

The open-back design should make these earbuds more comfortable to wear for long periods, possibly preventing ear fatigue. Rumors also suggest the buds will have built-in vents for better airflow and sound quality.

The leaked image also reveals a familiar-looking charging case that cradles the FreeClips in an inverted position. While technical specifications remain shrouded in secrecy, one thing is certain: the FreeClip’s independent design sets it apart from other wearables.

Battery life is expected to reach up to 8 hours on a single charge, and previous reports suggest the Huawei FreeClip will come in two color options: Black and Purple.
