<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-332810 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/huawei-5g.png?x10805" alt="huawei" width="834" height="515" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/huawei-5g.png 834w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/huawei-5g-300x185.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/huawei-5g-768x474.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/huawei-5g-356x220.png 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/huawei-5g-696x430.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/huawei-5g-680x420.png 680w" sizes="(max-width: 834px) 100vw, 834px" /></p>
<p>According to an <a href="https://asiatimes.com/2020/12/germany-opens-the-door-to-huawei-with-conditions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>AsiaTimes</em> </a>report, the proposed legislation would make Huawei and telecom equipment providers financially liable for compromised security. This would also give security agencies complete network access to determine the integrity of the network. In other words, Germany is going ahead with Huawei for 5G building but with strict conditions, despite Washington having lobbied Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government to ban the Chinese tech giant outright.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/17/galaxy-s21-series-poses-in-all-colors-in-latest-leak-galaxy-s21-makes-an-appearance-too/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy S21 poses in all colors in latest leak; Galaxy S21+ makes an appearance too</a></strong></h6>
<p>Notably, American media described the newly proposed German law as a &#8220;a setback for the outgoing U.S. administration,” as written in the Wall Street Journal. Furthermore, the Merkel government&#8217;s decision might have been different if Donald Trump had been re-elected. Copies of these proposed law had leaked in Germany back in November but it seems that this has now been solidified.</p>

<p>This should arrive as another win for Huawei in Europe, especially as various governments in the region are following in the footsteps of the US. Previously, the UK banned the company outright and is<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/24/uk-stricter-rule-ban-5g-equipment-huawei-2021/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> aiming to phase out the company&#8217;s technology from its existing networking infrastructure</a> as well. France is also taking a somewhat similar approach, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/18/huawei-build-telecom-equipment-factory-in-france/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">despite Huawei planning on building a network equipment manufacturing factory</a> in the region.</p>

<p>According to a <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/35197477-acef-4429-a1d8-71743ee8d8e3" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>FinancialTimes</em> </a>report, the government is currently preparing to pass a new security law that would prevent the Chinese tech giant to participate in the 5G roll out due to various restrictions. This move would also add new challenges to the Chinese company&#8217;s business operations in the region as well. Huawei losing the ability to offer 5G networking based equipment would also be a negative impact on the company in the country.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/30/huaweis-italian-president-says-the-company-is-ready-to-show-its-internal-operations-to-end-security-concerns/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei’s Italian President says the company is ready to show it’s internal operations to end security concerns</a></strong></h6>
<p>Similar to the UK, Germany has also been an integral market for the Chinese brand outside of mainland China. Its customer from the region includes Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom that had helped Huawei become one of the leading telecommunications based equipment provider in the world. The new regulation will employ a new approval procedure in place which will first evaluate the technical security of the parts integrated into the equipment being provided, and then judge the &#8216;trustworthiness&#8217; of the source along with a political evaluation.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-324411 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Logo MWC 2019" width="3000" height="2000" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019.jpg 3000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-1920x1280.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 3000px) 100vw, 3000px" /></p>
<p>For those unaware, Huawei has been accused of espionage and data breach on multiple occasions. The US has alleged that the company has had close ties with the Chinese government, and even has backdoors in its systems to send data back to its home country. Thus, this new approval process might be a new hurdle for the company. According to Nils Schmid, spokesperson for the Social Democrats, &#8220;The German parliament requires the legal means to be able to exclude untrustworthy suppliers like Huawei from the 5G buildout, and this new law appears to do just that.&#8221;</p>

Germany is one ally whose body language shows isn&#8217;t looking to heed the US advise.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-logo.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-265777" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-logo.jpg?x10805" alt="huawei" width="1200" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-logo.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-logo-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-logo-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-logo-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-logo-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-logo-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-logo-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></a></p>
<p>According to a Reuters report, Germany has finalised rules for the build-out of 5G mobile networks and it doesn&#8217;t include snubbing China’s Huawei Technologies. This is in total disregard of the position of the United States. The rulebook dubbed security catalogue will be released later this week.</p>

<p>“We are not taking a pre-emptive decision to ban any actor or any company,” German government spokesman Steffen Seibert told a news conference in Berlin on Monday.</p>
<p>German carriers are all clients to Huawei and have warned that banning the Chinese vendor would add years of delays and billions of dollars in costs of launching 5G networks. Besides, Huawei has repeatedly denied the allegations by Washington, which has seen the company placed on the US entity list.</p>

Announced in August, the phone has now made its way to Germany and the good news is that there is Google Mobile Services pre-installed.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-281826" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/huawei-nova-5T-Color-Blue.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Nova 5T" width="2560" height="1438" /></p>
<p>Apparently, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/google">Google</a> already certified the Nova 5T before the US ban took effect according to <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a>, which is why the phone comes with Google services.</p>
<p>The Nova 5T has a 6.26-inch LCD screen with a punch-hole for the selfie camera and a 2340 x 1080 resolution. It is powered by the Kirin 980 which is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. You can&#8217;t add more storage as the phone doesn&#8217;t have a MicroSD card slot.</p>
<p>The Huawei Nova 5T has quad rear cameras &#8211; a 48MP f/1.8 sensor, a 16MP f/2.2 ultrawide angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. A 32MP f/2.0 camera sits in front for selfies and video calls.</p>
<p>There is no audio jack but there is Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC. The phone also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner built into the power button. It runs Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.1 and packs a 3750mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging technology.</p>
<p>The price has not yet been announced but there are speculations it will be priced at €430 just like the Honor 20 when it goes on sale on October 29. It will be available in Midsummer Purple, Black, and Blue.</p>
