<p>After initial buzz about <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/hongmeng-os">HongMeng OS</a> being Huawei&#8217;s answer to Google&#8217;s Android operating system, the company&#8217;s executive claimed that HongMong OS was never meant to be an Android replacement and is for enterprise use.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-263170 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-hongmeng.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei HongMeng OS aka Oak OS" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-hongmeng.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-hongmeng-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-hongmeng-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-hongmeng-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-hongmeng-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-hongmeng-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/huawei-hongmeng-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>
<p>However, it was recently reported that the company is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/05/huawei-hongmeng-os-smartphone-launch-q4-2019/">working on to launch a new smartphone</a> by the end of this year, which will be running HongMeng OS out-of-the-box. The report also claimed that the budget smartphone will be priced around 2,000 yuan.</p>
<p>Now, a new report has surfaced online which claims that the upcoming Huawei Mate 30 Lite will be the first smartphone to run the company&#8217;s in-house developed HongMeng OS. The report claims that while the international variant will be running <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-q">Android Q</a> and EMUI 10, the Chinese variant will be powered by HongMeng OS.</p>
<p>As per the leaks, the Mate 30 Lite will come with a 6.26-inch punch-hole display and is expected to feature quadruple-camera setup on the back which is housed within a square-shaped module. It will have 48 MP primary camera, an 8 MP secondary camera and two 2 MP camera sensors.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-269226 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-Mate-30-Lite-Leak.png?x10805" alt="Huawei Mate 30 Lite Leak" width="940" height="627" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-Mate-30-Lite-Leak.png 940w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-Mate-30-Lite-Leak-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-Mate-30-Lite-Leak-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-Mate-30-Lite-Leak-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-Mate-30-Lite-Leak-630x420.png 630w" sizes="(max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px" /></p>
<p>Under the hood, the device is powered by Huawei&#8217;s HiSilicon <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/06/21/huawei-announces-kirin-810-chipset/">Kirin 810</a> octa-core processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage as well as 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The phone is said to have been fuelled by a 3,900mAh battery.</p>
<p>The previous report had claimed that the mid-range smartphone running HongMeng OS will be launched in order to attract software developers to join the company’s new ecosystem. It also added that the system has cryptographic functions that protect personal data and prevents users’ privacy from being breached.</p>
<p>As per the reports, the HongMeng OS is based on open-source <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android">Android</a> and is fully compatible with Android applications. Also, during the test run, the operating system turned out to be 60 percent faster than Android.</p>

<p>Just like every year, this time too the company will be launching multiple models under its Mate 30 series &#8212; the standard Huawei Mate 30, more powerful Mate 30 Pro, and a watered-down Mate 30 Lite.</p>
<p>Also, the company is expected to continue the trend of launching the Mate 30 Lite model earlier than the other models &#8212; Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. Further, the report says that like its predecessor, the Mate 30 Lite will be launched in China under a different name.</p>

<p>Now, coming to the specifications, the report revealed that the Huawei Mate 30 Lite smartphone will be powered by the recently launched company&#8217;s own <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/06/21/huawei-announces-kirin-810-chipset/">HiSilicon Kirin 810</a> octa-core processor.</p>
<p>The Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 810 is an octa-core processor which comes equipped with two Cortex-A76 high-performance large cores clocked at 2.27 GHz and six Cortex-A55 energy efficient small cores clocked at 1.88 GHz. It is coupled with Mali-G52 GPU for graphics processing and the new Huawei DaVinci architecture NPU for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ai/">AI</a> processing.</p>
<p>It is also expected to come with a full-screen display having a punch-hole design that will house the front-facing camera of 24MP. The previous report indicates that the phone could feature a 6.4-inch IPS display with 2310 x 1080 pixels screen resolution.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400"><div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"></span><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">Editor&#8217;s Pick:</span> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/06/24/huawei-beat-apple-to-top-of-chinas-premium-phone-market-for-the-first-time-in-q1-2019/">Huawei beats Apple to top China’s premium phone market for the first time in Q1 2019</a></strong><b></b><span style="font-weight: 400"></div></div></span></p>
<p>On the back side, the phone will come with a quad-camera setup. The device is also said to come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for authentication. The phone could come with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variants.</p>
<p>Reports also indicate that the smartphone will be powered by a 4,000mAh battery and will come with support for 20W fast charging technology. Earlier this year, during the company’s press briefing in Malaysia, Huawei confirmed that it has started working on the Mate 30 series and is currently under the testing phase. While the launch date is not yet revealed, the Huawei Mate 30 series is expected to go official in September or October.</p>
