Honor is gearing up for the announcement of the Magic 3 series, which is just hours away. But prior to the launch event, live images of a high end Magic 3 model has surfaced online that showcases the device with five cameras on the rear and a design similar to an older Huawei flagship.

The news arrives from a report from AnTuTu and known Weibo blogger DigitalChatStation. Looking at the images, a smartphone can be seen with a penta camera setup on the rear. If this is true, it is probably the higher end Pro variant of the Magic 3 lineup that will be launching in a few hours. However, the most notable aspect of this leaked handset isn’t its five camera module, rather, its design which is oddly similar to the Huawei Mate 40 RS Porsche Design.

The leaked images reveal a rear panel that carries a design that features lines which are placed in manner similar to the limited edition of the Mate 40. The only thing missing is the Huawei branding on the rear. Although, even if the design is similar, the specs of the camera module on the rear will be different. As per DigitalChatStation, the high end Magic 3 model will sport a 50 megapixel primary lens, along with a 64MP periscope camera that has a 3.5X optical zoom which is also capable of 100x digital zoom.

However, the report did not mention any details regarding the other lenses. But we can assume the likes of an ultra wide angle lens, macro camera, and even a depth sensor as well. Unfortunately, this is still an unconfirmed leak so take it with a pinch of salt for now, and stay tuned as we will be covering the launch event in a few hours.

The Huawei Mate 40 series was recently announced and is positioned as the company’s current flagship lineup. Now, the Chinese tech giant has revealed the repair charges for the premium grade handset, which carries a price tag just as hefty as the smartphones.

Looking at the prices, we can observe that the display and motherboard are by far one of the most expensive components of the device. For example, the motherboard for the Mate 40 RS Porsche Edition costs about 6,699 Yuan (roughly 1,020 US Dollars). Even the most affordable motherboard replacement costs about 3,199 Yuan (roughly 483 US Dollars) for the Mate 40 Pro.

Furthermore, the selfie shooter costs 418 Yuan (roughly 63 US Dollars) for repairs across the entire lineup. However, the rear camera setup costs vary between different variants, like the Mate 40 Pro (940 Yuan or 143 US Dollars) and Mate 40 Pro+ (1185 Yuan or 180 US Dollars). The battery is another aspect that remains the same between the Pro series and the RS Porsche Edition, costing just 196 Yuan (roughly 30 US Dollars).

The prices for some of the components seem especially high, especially the Mate 40 RS Porsche Edition as its motherboard costs nearly half of its total 11,999 Yuan (roughly 1,814 US Dollars) price tag. So if you own a Mate 40 device, do be careful and consider grabbing a good case for your smartphone or you might end up shelving out a lot of money on repairs.

Huawei launched the Huawei Mate 40 series in China on October 30. Soon after the launch, Jingdong(JD.com), Tmall opened the official sales of the series as promised. As expected, the device has received a huge response on initial sales and is already out of stock in many places.

A report by MyDrivers says that JD.com opened the sale of the Huawei Mate 40 series at 18:00 China time on October 30. Accordingly, all the devices got sold out in just 11 seconds. And if the report is true, the first sale recorded 100 million sales in just 8 seconds on Jingdong. Similarly, Tmall’s sales clocked a record time of 20 seconds. To celebrate the insane response for Huawei’s new smartphones, JD.com flew hundreds of drones over its HQ last night.

The report says that hundreds of drones lined up in the drone show to form words like “JDxHuawei”, “Kirin 9000“. And shapes of Mate 40 series camera ring, and more. you can take a look at them below:

Apparently, there was a 600% increase in opting for the one-hour quick service while buying these devices. The e-commerce company also has offers like a one-hour service, a 30-day return policy, a one-year battery replacement, trade-in. Additionally, people who by the RS Porsche Design will get JZD customized services, special vehicles with prioritized in-line delivery.

Offline pre-orders: Huawei stores

That said, another report says many models of the Huawei Mate 40 series are already out of stock. A visit by China Security news reveals pre-orders on the Shanghai Official Huawei store are open only for White, Black versions of Mate 40 Pro. However, Mate 40 Pro+ and RS Porsche Design are out of stock.

A similar situation prevails for official/experience stores in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and many others. Also, the models, which can be pre-ordered, don’t have an exact delivery date. And two of Huawei Authorized stores in Beijing have gone to the extent of suspending the reservations of the series.

As per a staff in the Chengdu store, huge supply scarcity is due to very early bookings that go as far as July/August. Looks like Huawei is crushing it with initial sales, and we will have to wait for a bit to know the exact sale numbers.

Huawei today held the Mate 40 series China launch conference and as you can guess, the Mate 40 series was launched for the Chinese market. the company took the wraps off all the models in the series including the Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+ and the Mate 40 RS Porsche Design Edition.

The Mate 40 series has already been launched in Europe last week so, the entire specs and Europe prices are already known. Here are the prices of the models in China.

Huawei also unveiled a Mate 40 RS Porsche Design Collector’s Edition. The Collector’s Edition models have an additional infrared temperature measurement function. At the same time, the Collector Edition model comes with a leather smart window protective cover and Huawei super-fast charging car charger (Max 66W). It is available in 12GB+512GB option and will be sold for 13,999 yuan (~$2094).

Availability

Huawei Mate 40 will officially go on sale on December 21 while the Mate 40 Pro has already gone on sale for the first time today. The Mate 40 Pro+ also went on sale today (October 30) for the first time. The Mate 40 RS Porsche Design sales also commenced today but there is no indication when the Collector’s edition will go on sale.

We must note that the price in China is way lower than that of Europe but then if you are a hardcore Huawei fan or have interest in any of the models, you should be more worried about being able to lay your hands on the device than the price. Huawei is likely to have issues with availability for the models considering the inability to get chip supply from TSMC a wanted due to the US ban.
