The company advertises the feature with the slogan “Even when your phone has run out of battery, your phone still has the energy to go further”.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As reported earlier by </span><a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/638/295.htm"><span style="font-weight: 400">ITHome</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, the Chinese news site cited industry sources that </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei"><span style="font-weight: 400">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> has developed an “emergency battery mode” in </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/07/18/huawei-harmonyos-3-launch-27-june/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Harmony OS 3</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> designed for the Huawei Mate 50 series. Unlike competing ultra battery saver modes from its competitors, Huawei’s upcoming emergency battery mode can still allow users to scan QR codes and make calls even when the phone is supposed “out of battery”.</span></p>
<p><figure id="attachment_482875" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-482875" style="width: 1000px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-482875 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Huawei-Battery-Illustration-Picture.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Battery Illustration Picture" width="1000" height="465" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Huawei-Battery-Illustration-Picture.jpg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Huawei-Battery-Illustration-Picture-300x140.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Huawei-Battery-Illustration-Picture-768x357.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Huawei-Battery-Illustration-Picture-696x324.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Huawei-Battery-Illustration-Picture-903x420.jpg 903w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-482875" class="wp-caption-text">Source: Huawei</figcaption></figure></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The technology scene in China has been speculating what </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei"><span style="font-weight: 400">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">’s emergency mode may look like. Some proposed the idea that the smartphone reserves 5 percent of the power for emergency calls and QR code scanning services: some proposed the idea to set the smartphone voltage to a very low level at a certain time before the power is turned off, such as setting the voltage from an idle 3.2 V to below 2.8 V, so as to squeeze out tens of hundreds of mAh of power for emergency use.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">In simpler terms, the emergency battery mode has some examples where it could be useful for interested buyers. For instance, after the smartphone has run out of power, you can enable emergency mode and scan the nearest QR location code and enter a nearby electronics store to borrow a power bank.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone wp-image-482874 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/huawei-xmage.jpeg?x10805" alt="huawei xmage" width="2000" height="1040" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/huawei-xmage.jpeg 2000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/huawei-xmage-300x156.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/huawei-xmage-1024x532.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/huawei-xmage-768x399.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/huawei-xmage-1536x799.jpeg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/huawei-xmage-696x362.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/huawei-xmage-1068x555.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/huawei-xmage-1920x998.jpeg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/huawei-xmage-808x420.jpeg 808w" sizes="(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px" /></p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-473058 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_001-4.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="800" height="466" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_001-4.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_001-4-300x175.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_001-4-768x447.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_001-4-696x405.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_001-4-721x420.jpg 721w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>Due to the changes in US export rules, the major foundries were also banned from shipping cutting edge technology that used US based tech to the Chinese tech giants. This is why Huawei was forced to use Qualcomm&#8217;s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoCs, with its 5G capabilities disabled. The 4G only Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor will also power the Huawei&#8217;s upcoming 2022 flagship Mate 50 series.</p>
<p>Since the brand had suffered a major blow on its smartphones operations, the company had began focusing on only launching one flagship series in a year. At the moment, Huawei is expected to release the Mate 50 series, which includes 4 models, on 6th September 2022. But prior to the announcement, the brand started taking reservations for the Mate 50 lineup from its official website in China as well as its other e-commerce partners.</p>
<p>And looking at these reservations, we can see that more than 1 million people have already signed up for the Mate 50 series. In other words, this basically means that the company still has a loyal customer base in its home market of China. To be fair, reservations does not imply sales directly like pre-orders. But this still helps showcase the popularity of the brand in the region.</p>

The lineup is expected to include a number of smartphones, including the Mate 50, Mate 50e, Mate 50 Pro, and the Mate 50 RS edition. Recently, the devices have been making rounds on various <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/08/17/huawei-mate-50-launch-soon-receive-certification/">certification sites</a>. Today, a new report reveals the company has started the mass production of Mate 50 Series’ core components, which hints at an imminent launch.</p>
<p>According to a report by <a href="https://phone.cnmo.com/news/736873.html">CNMO</a>, Huawei is actively preparing for mass production of the core components of the upcoming Mate 50 Series. The company is apparently stocking up its inventory for the upcoming September launch. Further, the publication claims that the Huawei Mate50 series will make use of components manufactured by domestic suppliers. The company is said to be committed to technological self-reliance.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-473058" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_001-4.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="800" height="466" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_001-4.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_001-4-300x175.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_001-4-768x447.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_001-4-696x405.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_001-4-721x420.jpg 721w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>Huawei did the same thing with the Huawei Mate 40E, P50, and other smartphones—It increased the component localization by more than half, including but not limited to screens, batteries, communication modules, and fingerprint sensors.</p>
<p>Details about the Huawei 50 Series are yet to be officially confirmed, however, we have information thanks to various leaks and rumors. The series is expected to be equipped with 66W fast charging, along with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/08/16/huawei-mate-50-snapdragon-888-processor/">4G only version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888</a> chipset. The Mate 50e model may feature the Snapdragon 778G SoC.</p>
<p>Mate 50 Pro and 50 RS editions will likely have up to a 120hz refresh rate, whereas the base models will feature a 90Hz panel. More details will be revealed soon. We’ll keep you updated about any new development.</p>

<p>Looking at their social media post, it was claimed that the Mate 50 series will be equipped with 66W fast charging support and has just passed through three certification websites in China (namely 3C, SRRC, and CTA). The tipster further added that the Huawei Mate 50 Pro will also being a number of new features and functions, apart from the regular face recognition system for biometric security. It will reportedly also sport a curved display design as well on the front.</p>

The lineup will reportedly consist of standard, Pro and RS Porsche Design variants. The upcoming offerings will arrive as the successors to the Mate 40 series. The brand had unveiled HarmonyOS 3.0 with a host of new features last month.  </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Now according to a Chinese blogger, the Huawei Mate 50 series will ship with HarmongOS 3.0 and also an emergency mode feature. As the name suggests, the emergency mode will allow users to make certain tasks in case of an emergency. It has certain application scenarios. When the battery runs out, the emergency mode supports calls, text messages, and scan functions. For example, when the phone is out of power users can scan the location code and enter the shopping mall to borrow a power bank. It remains unclear how the function will be implemented. It’s likely that the phone’s system will reserve a little power at the end of emergency use. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The blogger also added that the Mate 50 standard edition will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor instead of the previously reported Snapdragon 888 4G. The Pro and RS Porsche Design variants are expected to be equipped with Kirin 9000S chipsets. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As for HarmonyOS 3.0, it packs a host of new features including a universal card widget, HyperTerminal, performance upgrades, privacy and security improvements. </span></p>

<p>According to tipster @<a href="https://m.weibo.cn/detail/4796281572820639" target="_blank" rel="noopener">厂长是关同学</a>, the Huawei Mate 50 series will debut in the month of September. The tipster Further adds that the series will consist of three devices &#8211; the Mate 50, the Mate 50 Pro, and the Mate 50 RS.</p>
<p>The devices will likely come powered by the company&#8217;s in-home Kirin 9000S chipset, which will likely be a tweaked version of the Kirin 9000 chip, and will come with 4G-only connectivity.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-473059 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_002-1.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Mate Mate 50 series" width="800" height="727" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_002-1.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_002-1-300x273.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_002-1-768x698.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_002-1-696x632.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_002-1-462x420.jpg 462w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>Relatedly, reliable Chinese tipster <i>Digital Chat Station </i>has shared renders of the back panel of the upcoming Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro. From the image, we can see that the device will come with a curved back panel and curved edges. The circular camera module appears to house three camera lenses and two flash modules along with a sensor.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-473060 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_003.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="800" height="568" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_003.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_003-300x213.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_003-768x545.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_003-696x494.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_003-592x420.jpg 592w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/gsmarena_003-100x70.jpg 100w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>Moving on to the front of the device, <a href="https://m.weibo.cn/detail/4795043766338377" target="_blank" rel="noopener">leaked images</a> of the tempered glass of the Mate 50 series reveals that the vanilla variant will have a punch-hole cutout in the center, while the Mate 50 Pro and likely Mate 50 RS will come with an iPhone like cutout, which indicates that it will likely come with face ID unlock feature.</p>
<p>The smartphone will make its debut in China in September and is also expected to launch globally. Although it is not confirmed if the global variant of the device will also use the Kirin 9000 SoC or opt for Snapdragon 888 4G.</p>

<p>HarmonyOS 3.0 beta rollouts were originally scheduled for March with stable releases following in July but a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/29/harmonyos-3-0-stable-release-looks-delayed/">report</a> from a few days back indicated that the launch may be delayed. However, it now looks that the stable version of the update will in fact be released per schedule.</p>
<p>If the news holds true, then we may likely see the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/02/22/huawei-mate-50-series-will-come-in-single-snapdragon-variant/">HUAWEI Mate 50 series</a>, that&#8217;s scheduled to launch also in July, boot into HarmonyOS 3.0 right out of the box. The phone will be sold in two variants &#8212; one with the Snapdragon 888 4G chip and the other with the Kirin 9000 4G chip &#8212; yep, no 5G once again owing to the US ban.</p>
<p>At the end of 2021, it was reported that more than 220 million devices have been equipped with Huawei&#8217;s HarmonyOS operating system, and over a hundred HUAWEI mobile phones will be eligible for the upcoming version.</p>
<p>Huawei’s Hongmeng Zhilian has already acquired 2,000 partners meaning we should be seeing even more devices supporting the HarmonyOS hardware ecosystem and deeper integration with the world of IoT.</p>

A few days later, one of the popular tipsters in China revealed more details about the situation. Let’s take a look at what he has to say.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">According to </span><a href="https://weibo.com/6084203417/KkNma6CWX"><i><span style="font-weight: 400">菊厂影业Fans</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> on Weibo, the HUAWEI Mate50 series is not canceled. He reassures that the company’s high-end smartphones for H2 are merely delayed. He asks the public to stay away from fake rumors about the devices being canceled.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Further, he adds that even if the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/HUAWEI-Mate-50/"><span style="font-weight: 400">HUAWEI Mate50</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> series don’t launch in 2021, then it may come out in 2022. In other words, he is too optimistic since the HUAWEI Mate series is the company’s popular high-end smartphone lineup other than the HUAWEI P series. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Confirming this leakster’s claim, an exclusive report by </span><a href="https://weibo.com/1315587597/Kl1wbbiiF"><i><span style="font-weight: 400">China Securities Journal</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> has also revealed that the design of the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/HUAWEI/"><span style="font-weight: 400">HUAWEI</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> Mate50 series has been finalized. It’s that the company is yet to decide when to kickstart mass manufacturing due to supply shortage.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">For now, </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400">菊厂影业Fans</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400"> requests people to wait for the launch of the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/HUAWEI-P50/"><span style="font-weight: 400">HUAWEI P50</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> series. He says that the zooming will be smooth without any stutter and there won’t be any discoloration either.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Last but not least, since the HUAWEI P50 series will be the first smartphone lineup with </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/HarmonyOS/"><span style="font-weight: 400">HarmonyOS</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> out of the box, it will have some exclusive features as well.</span></p>
