Earlier today we reported on the addition of two trendy new colour variants to the Huawei Mate 9 lineup which already had six attractive colours before now. Huawei seems to be emulating the strategy used on the highly successful P9 and P9 Plus on the Mate 9. First, the Mate 9 featured the same dual Leica camera setup which was first introduced on the P9. And now, the Mate 9 is being refreshed just like the P9, getting the two colours which were introduced into the P9 lineup and was very well received. Coincidentally, the duo is Huawei’s top grossing devices presently. The Mate 9 ‘s colour options now include Champagne Gold, Moonlight Silver, Mocha brown, Ceramic White, Gray, Black, and now Agate Red and Topaz Blue, eight amazing colours.

The Huawei Mate 9‘s new Agate Red and Topaz Blue variants are available only on the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage version. Huawei has silently updated its flagship Mate 9 lineup, adding two new, attractive and trendy colours. Turns out the Huawei Mate 9 is getting two new colours which were very popular in the P8 and P9 series, namely, Red Agate and Topaz Blue. Huawei first introduced the two colours on the P9 and P9 Plus which already had a long array of colour options then and records show the two colour options were instant hits. Coincidentally, the P9 and Mate 9, both feature dual Leica cameras.

The two new Huawei Mate 9 Red Agate and Topaz Blue variants are only available on the 4GB + 64GB model and they both are listed to officially go up for sale on Huawei’s official flagship store on Jingdong (JD.com) for 3899 Yuan on May 14 at 10 AM.  With this last additional two colours, the Mate 9 is now available in 8 different colours namely, Gold, Silver, Mocha brown, White, Gray, Black, and now Red Agate and Topaz Blue.

Other specifications are the same with the variants already available and as a reminder, the Mate 9 packs a 5.9-inch 1080p and is powered by a Kirin 960 chip. The Mate 9 features a dual camera setup designed by Leica at the rear which is a 12MP + 20MP combo. There is also a large 4,000mAh battery on board the device.

Huawei’s next flagship device Mate 9 is expected to drop next month as the company push harder to meet its set target for the year. However, the launch has not been officially confirmed but changes in the prices of its soon to be predecessor, the Huawei Mate 8, seem to strongly suggest the launch may be very near.

The Huawei Mate 8 initially carried a 2999 Yuan price tag but we had seen that reduced to around 2699 Yuan before the IFA Berlin in September. Now the Mate 8’s price has been reduced further to 2199 Yuan on the Jingdong (JD.com) global buy. This price is for the version with 3GB RAM + 32GB of internal storage. In addition, the dual-SIM 4G version has also seen its price reduced to 2299 Yuan from 2699 Yuan, while the version with Full network options took a slight reduction to 2659 Yuan, down from 2999 Yuan.

That is not all, the Huawei Mate 8 China Unicom version with 4G, 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM has got the biggest of price cut seen so far, as it is listed with price tags of 1999 Yuan. Of course that is a hot buy and it is already sold out presently.

The Huawei Mate 9 is expected to come with Kirin 960 Processor, dual Leica cameras, iris recognition, 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM versions as well. The device is expected in three storage versions of 64GB, 128GB and the top most with 256GB which would only be available on the 6GB RAM version. As for the expected price, the Mate 9 would likely start at 3199 Yuan for the 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM carrier specific version, while the version with entire network support would come in at 3399 yuan. The 4GB RAM + 128GB version with full network support comes in at 3899 Yuan, while the 6GB RAM + 256GB ROM full network version starts at 4699 Yuan.

Apart from the LeEco Le 3 Pro, the Xiaomi Mi 5s (and Plus) and the Pixel Phones, one other phone that is greatly anticipated is Huawei’s Mate 9. Following the company’s success with the Huawei P9 and Honor 8, more people are expecting the new phone to raise the already high bar a bit more.

Recent leaks about the device reveals a lot of new details. First is the date. Sources say the Huawei Mate 9 may launch on the 8th of November and will have four versions.

A standard version or base model that will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM; a high version that doubles the storage to 128GB but keeps the RAM at 4GB; and a top and monarch version with 6GB RAM and 256GB of built-in storage.

The versions have also been reported to sport different colour options. The standard version will be available in silver, grey, and gold; the high version will be available in rose gold and ceramic white. The top version will have all the colours listed above in addition to black enamel.

Another feature the Mate 9 may sport is an iris-scanner just like the Galaxy Note 7. Users will be able to choose between this or the fingerprint scanner that will come with it by default.

I know some of you only care about the pricing, that’s why I have saved it for last. The Standard Version will cost 3199 Yuan ($480) and a full network version will sell for 3399 Yuan ($509); the High Version will sell for 3899 Yuan ($584); a full network Top Version will sell for 4699 Yuan ($704); and the Monarch Version which seems is the top version bundled with a 2nd gen Huawei smartwatch will sell for 7388 Yuan ($1108).

Adding all of the new details to those we already know such as a 6” display, dual 20 megapixel rear cameras supplied by Leica and which has optical image stabilisation, Android 7.0 Nougat, and a kirin 960 processor, it’s sure Huawei wants to end the year on a high note.

Do remember these are leaks. The company hasn’t confirmed a bunch of these details, so things might be different when it eventually launches.
