Huawei, well known for its craftsmanship and industry-leading specifications, has a bunch of laptops selling under the MateBook series lineup. After the entire smartphone industry saga with Google services, the company decided to make the transition to HarmonyOS, an in-house operating system. Well, as for Huawei MateBook users, the only big transition in the pipeline is the Windows 11 upgrade. Huawei has officially confirmed that all its MateBook series laptops will be upgraded to the new version of Windows.

This confirmation from the official social media of Huawei on Weibo comes ahead of the October 5 launch of Windows 11. Huawei confirms that all MateBook laptops with pre-installed Windows 10 are eligible for a completely free-of-cost Windows 11 upgrade.

Huawei’s MateBook notebooks are categorized into ‎‎the X-Series, the MateBook Series, the D-Series, as well as‎‎ the recently launched MateBook B-Series. We can expect the Windows 11 update to air for these MateBook devices soon after Microsoft officially launches it globally.

Windows 11 brings a plethora of visual changes, the addition of widgets, along with an all-new Microsoft Store with the ability to run Android apps on a desktop. The next generation of Windows will have a revamped look, which will also boost productivity.

Huawei Consumer Business Group today hosted the Huawei Seamless AI Life new products global launch event in China where the company announced six new products that further enrich the 1+8+N all-scenario ecosystem. The new products revealed during today’s keynote cut across audio, wearable and PC products.

The new products unveiled during today’s keynote include the Huawei FreeBuds Pro and  FreeLace Pro, new pro-variants of the highly acclaimed audio products featuring improved Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), new designs and user-centric features.

Huawei FreeBuds Pro is the world’s first true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones to support intelligent dynamic noise cancellation. Featuring hardware and software integrated solution, the new TWS earphones intelligently identify the type of ambient noise based on the user’s immediate surroundings and switch between three profiles – General, Cosy and Ultimate – to offer the optimal noise-cancelling performance. Further, Huawei FreeBuds Pro delivers the best noise-cancelling performance yet on a Huawei audio product with an industry-leading noise cancellation rating of 40dB2. Dual Connection with Android, iOS and Windows smart systems means users can seamlessly switch between devices without being tied to one brand, and the new gesture control enables users to easily take control of the earphones by performing a swipe or a pinch on the cubic earphone stem.

Huawei FreeLace Pro offers great audio and a stylish design. Supporting noise cancellation up to 40dB, the neckband earphones take advantage of industry-leading algorithms to provide stable noise cancelling performance in any situation. Huawei also launched the Watch GT 2 Pro and Watch Fit. The latest entries to Huawei’s wearable product line-up with striking aesthetics, new fitness data tracking features and workout modes.

The new HUAWEI WATCH GT 2 Pro not only come with features that consumers have come to love on the HUAWEI WATCH GT Series, the elegantly modern smartwatch also offers up to two weeks of battery life, more than 100 workout modes, plus pro-grade fitness data tracking features.

Health tracking features are at their most advanced yet with the upgraded HUAWEI TruSeen 4.0+ providing more accurate heart rate readings. Huawei has introduced new workout modes including Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Snowboarding and Golf Driving Range. These join the existing range to provide users with real-time performance tracking and analyses for professional sports.

The new flagship smartwatch launches with a rugged design featuring premium materials, including a sapphire watch crystal, titanium case and skin-friendly ceramic case back that combines with another sapphire glass black to enhance monitoring accuracy and wearing comfort. Additionally, HUAWEI WATCH GT 2 Pro supports apps to provide a convenient means for users to get even more features. Huawei also plans to further augment the smart experience on offer in the future.

Launched alongside the HUAWEI WATCH GT 2 Pro, HUAWEI WATCH FIT is the first Huawei sports smartwatch to feature a rounded rectangular watch face design. The smartwatch combines a dazzling 1.64-inch AMOLED display, which lends itself to displaying more content and better interactive experience.

At 34g, the HUAWEI Watch FIT feels as light as a sports wristband. The watch features newly upgraded HUAWEI TruSeen 4.0 heart rate technology, which leverages Huawei’s own multi-sensor AI neural network algorithm and advanced PPG components to provide more accurate, 24-hour heart monitoring to track changes in blood oxygen, sleep and stress conditions. All the data is also analysed to generate fitness advice that helps users lead better, healthier lives.

HUAWEI Watch FIT is the first Huawei smartwatch to support Quick-workout Animations5. By combining 44 standard fitness routines (including fat burn, shoulder muscle relief, body sculpting and other routines) into 12 animations, this feature provides a quick and easy way for users to work out at a moment’s notice. The smartwatch offers 13 running classes that are specifically tailored for jogging enthusiasts. Running pace is analysed scientifically with results provided in real-time to help users optimise their workout. Further, as the ideal outdoor companion, the smartwatch comes with 96 workout modes, built-in GPS and 5ATM water resistance.

While compact, the smartphone supports up to 10-days battery in typical scenarios. Huawei Watch FIT also supports Huawei’s fast charging technology. Five minutes of charging can provide enough charge to sustain the smartwatch for an entire day of typical use.

Huawei MateBook X and MateBook 14, two new lightweight notebooks that revolutionise mobile productivity with compact form factors and smart experiences enabled by the innovative Huawei Share feature.

The latest entry to Huawei’s flagship PC product line, HUAWEI MateBook X combines the flagship series’ iconic design and innovative technology with an improved lightweight design and smart features. Weighing just 1kg8, the lightweight notebook measures just 13.6mm9 at its thickest part and is smaller than a piece of A4 paper, so users can easily slide it into a backpack and carry it with them wherever they go.

The new Huawei MateBook X is the first notebook to feature the 3K Infinite FullView Display, realised with a borderless design that offers an immersive viewing experience and stunning image quality. During the virtual launch, Huawei also unveiled HUAWEI MateBook 14, the benchmark of high-performance laptops in the era of mobile productivity 3.0. Featuring a highly portable design and powerful performance, HUAWEI MateBook 14 integrates the AMD Ryzen 4000 H Series processor, with HUAWEI Shark Fin Fans delivering superior thermal performance even under intense workloads. Besides performance, it has a 2K HUAWEI FullView Display14 and supports smart features including Multi-screen Collaboration to help consumers stay productive on the road.

Pricing and Availability

The products will be available in Europe in September and in some cases October this year. As for the pricing, the FreeBuds Pro will retail for 199 Euro. The FreeLace Pro will be sold for 119Euro while the Watch GT 2 Pro Sport comes in at 349 Euro. The Watch GT 2 Pro Classic carries a retail price of 349 Euro.

Huawei will be hosting an event tomorrow (August 19) to launch MateBook X 2020. This thin and light laptop is said to be the direct successor to the first model in the series launched back in 2017. The company has been teasing the design of this notebook for the past few days. Today’s teaser poster reveals it to come in at least two colors.

The internals of the upcoming HUAWEI MateBook X 2020 is a mystery. However, the company has revealed its design in a series of teasers. In a nutshell, it looks similar to the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro 2020 from earlier this year.

Having said that, the new teaser poster shared by the company confirms at least two colors for this forthcoming notebook – Silver and Pink. We are saying “at least” and that’s because a leaked render shows this laptop in four colors.

According to that leak (via Notebook Check), the HUAWEI MateBook X 2020 will be available in four colors and they are as listed below.

• Frost Silver
• Interstellar Blue
• Green Mountain Daisy
• Cherry Blossom Powder

Anyway, we would recommend you to consider this leak with a pinch of salt. Because these are exactly the same colors that MateBook X Pro 2020 is available in. If Huawei is indeed launching the MateBook X 2020 in the same four colors why would it only tease two in the poster?

Apart from this, the upcoming Huawei laptop is also reported to be the first Windows laptop to ship with a pressure-sensitive trackpad.

Apart from smartphones, Huawei also sells a wide variety of laptops with its own branding as well as Honor. The latter is even set to debut its first gaming laptops under Hunter series powered by Intel. On the other hand, Huawei has scheduled an event for August 19 to launch the successor to the original MateBook X from 2017. According to a new leak, it could be the first-ever Windows laptop to come with a pressure-sensitive trackpad.

Apple MacBooks have had pressure-sensitive trackpad called “Force Touch” since 2015. They even mimic the clicking experience (haptics) using a vibration motor. The company uses a similar trick for the home button on iPhone 7/7 Plus, iPhone 8/8 Plus, and the new iPhone SE 2020.

Now, if this tip by a blogger called 看山的叔叔 on Weibo is true, then the upcoming Huawei MateBook X 2020 will be the first Windows laptop to come with a pressure-sensitive trackpad and it will be called Free Touch. 

However, the leakster is not sure if the company will include a linear motor. Whereas, for the hardware, we guess the company to use Synaptics ZPad, which was showcased at CES 2019 with haptics functionality.

With this feature and Windows Precision Driver, the trackpad on MateBook X 2020 should be one of the best in the market. Anyway, this is merely a leak and the company is yet to confirm it.

Huawei has scheduled a launch event for august 19 and the product that will be launched is the MateBook X notebook PC. The company has sent out launch invites to some media houses. The one sent to IT home seems to have drawn inspiration from the laptop itself.

The invitation is a booklet designed like a Notebook PC. This is no doubt a reflection of design the laptop will adopt, which is a thin and light build, no bigger than the size of an A4 paper.

The teaser poster of the MateBook X inside the launch invite equally contains a render of the laptop, confirming a thin and light build. The teaser poster also shows the device will utilise the faster USB-C port. It is also shown to have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The hardware configuration of the MateBook X has not been released by Huawei but we expect it to come with a top of the pack specs. We’ll have to wait until the launch date to find out more details.

Huawei and its Honor brand have been very busy fro the past couple of weeks with quite a number of new releases from both ends. Honor recently announced the Honor 6A, the Honor Router X1 and Router X1 Plus, the Play Pad 2, and the A2 Smartband earlier today in China. On its part, Huawei unveiled in quick succession, the MateBook D, MateBook E, and MateBook X  and also the Nova 2, Nova 2 Plus, the Mediapad M3 Lite and a couple of accessories including a Sports band, panoramic camera and Bluetooth headset. 

The Huawei MateBook models were announced in Germany and as should be expected, Huawei has gone official with the laptop models in China. The company launched the new generation models in Shanghai China today and as a result, we get to find out their prices as well as get a reminder of the exclusive features the MateBook series come with.

As for their prices, the Huawei MateBook X versions starts at 6988 Yuan ($1,028) for the model with Intel Core i5 chip, 4GB RAM and 256GB storage. The model with Core i5, 8GB RAM and 256HB storage goes up for 7988 Yuan ($1,175). The Matebook X model with Core i5 chip, 8GB RAM and 512GB storage will cost 8988 Yuan ($1323) and finally, the topmost model with Intel core17 processor, 8GB RAM and 512GB storage will retail for 9988 Yuan ($1,470).

On the other hand, the Huawei MateBook E is available in three models. The base model with a 7th Gen Intel Core M3 processor, 4GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at 4988 Yuan ($734). The model with a Core i5 chip 4GB RAM and 256GB storage starts at 6,888 Yuan ($1013) and finally, the top MateBook E model with Core i5, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage carries a price tag of 7,388 Yuan ($1,087).

On its part, the Matebook D models are priced as follows; the model with Intel Core i5+4GB RAM+128GB SSD+ 500GB HDD is priced at 4988 Yuan ($734),  Core i5+4GB RAM+ 500GB SSD+ NV 2G will sell for  5,288 Yuan ($778). Same configuration but with 8GB RAM takes the price to 5,699 Yuan ($838). Finally, the Matebook D top most model packing a Core i7+8GB RAM+ 128GB SSD+ 1TB HDD 7,288 Yuan ($1072).

In addition to the laptop models, Huawei also launched some accessories which would be sold separately like the MateDock 2 with a price of  399 Yuan ($58). There is also a wireless mouse priced at 179 Yuan ($26), a Matebook Backpack priced at 199 Yuan ($29), a protective case for the Matebook X which cost 99 Yuan ($14).

The Huawei MateBook is due for a refresh this year. Before the end of 2016, an insider source had revealed that the next model will feature two new sizes. A tweet by EvanBlass (@evleaks) yesterday confirmed it and also revealed their codenames and models.

The Huawei MateBook will be available in three different sizes this year. The sizes were not mentioned in this new leak but we presume they will be 12, 13, and 15 inches. What the leak does reveal are the codenames for the devices. One is codenamed Pascal, another is called Bell, and the third one is Watt. When they launch they will be called the Huawei MateBook E, MateBook X, and MateBook D.

Pascal + Bell + Watt = Matebooks E, X, & D (/not/ respectively).

If you can recollect, Pascal was benchmarked recently and according to another leakster (@rquandt), it has a 15-inch screen. There is a likelihood that they will not only differ in terms of size but also in configuration. Pascal has 8GB of RAM and a Core i5-7200U CPU. The other two may feature less RAM and a less powerful processor.

If you look closely at the image below, the three models differ in terms of design too. The MateBook E looks more like a Microsoft Surface as it doesn’t look like it is permanently attached to the keyboard/kickstand. So its more of a tablet than a regular laptop.

The MateBook X and MateBook D on the other hand look like regular laptops although with different hinge designs.
