What is special about the new phone is that it comes with <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Huawei">Huawei</a> Mobile Services (HMS) out of the box!</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-415320" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/LeTV-S1.jpg?x10805" alt="LeTV S1" width="820" height="1458" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/LeTV-S1.jpg 820w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/LeTV-S1-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/LeTV-S1-768x1366.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/LeTV-S1-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/LeTV-S1-696x1238.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/LeTV-S1-236x420.jpg 236w" sizes="(max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></p>
<p>LeTV says that the decision to use HMS stems from its decision to be open to all ecosystems. So alongside its own services, it is also going with Huawei&#8217;s own services. Users who purchase the LeTV S1 will be able to use the phone with products under Huawei&#8217;s ecosystem. LeTV is also building a connected platform for its phones, TVs, and other products. Once it is announced, users will also be able to use their LeTV phones to interact with other LeTV products on the platform.</p>
<p>The LeTV S1 not only has HMS Core powering it but its hardware is also provided by Chinese suppliers. For instance, the processor is the Tiger T7510 processor which is from the Chinese semiconductor company, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/unisoc">Unisoc</a>. LeTV also said the display and memory are from Chinese companies.</p>
<p>The full specification sheet of the phone wasn&#8217;t revealed by the manufacturer but it has been reported that it has an HD+ display with a waterdrop notch for the front-facing camera and there is a 4900mAh battery under the hood. The poster also shows that there are three cameras on the back of the phone along with a fingerprint scanner.</p>
<p>LeTV says the new 5G smartphone is targeted at drivers who work for ride-sharing platforms and delivery services as well as older citizens. It also revealed that its high-end smartphone which it briefly revealed at its conference in May is still in development and will be announced next year.</p>
<p>The LeTV S1 will be available for purchase next month via the LeMall online store. Its full specifications and price should be revealed by then.</p>

This promotion is to help bring the benefits of e-commerce and online retail to businesses and app developers during this time of crisis.</p>
<p>As per the company&#8217;s official notes, the campaign aims to boost and support brands and enterprises that are facing hurdles in operations due to the state of the market caused by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/coronavirus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Coronavirus</a> pandemic. Thus, the Chinese tech giant is providing benefits to businesses by offering prominent positioning on its AppGallery&#8217;s &#8216;Collections&#8217; tab, which highlights e-commerce brands.</p>
<p>This is a sliding banner on the home page of the platform and offers free advertising to brands worth up to 2,500 Euros (roughly 3,000 US Dollars). Any brand or content provider can sign up for this promotion anytime from now until the 31st of December 2020. In other words, Huawei is offerings brands advertising/exposure to its 36 million active monthly userbase of AppGallery in Europe for free.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-360302 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/MASTER_Ecommerce-lockdown-campaign_topbanner_984x576_v1_prev.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="984" height="576" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/MASTER_Ecommerce-lockdown-campaign_topbanner_984x576_v1_prev.jpg 984w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/MASTER_Ecommerce-lockdown-campaign_topbanner_984x576_v1_prev-300x176.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/MASTER_Ecommerce-lockdown-campaign_topbanner_984x576_v1_prev-768x450.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/MASTER_Ecommerce-lockdown-campaign_topbanner_984x576_v1_prev-696x407.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/MASTER_Ecommerce-lockdown-campaign_topbanner_984x576_v1_prev-718x420.jpg 718w" sizes="(max-width: 984px) 100vw, 984px" /></p>
<p>At the moment, the Chinese smartphone maker is targeting three specific business groups with this offer, including businesses that currently have no presence on AppGallery; second, being businesses with apps already available on the platform but are also &#8220;willing to upgrade to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-mobile-services/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei Mobile Services</a> (HMS) in order to gain from the platform’s additional advantages and increased audience&#8221;; and finally, the third being &#8220;e-commerce businesses whose apps already integrated with HMS.&#8221;</p>

<p>According to Wang Heng, Vice President, Global Partnerships and Eco-Development at Huawei Consumer Business Group, &#8220;We want to galvanize businesses and app developers in the e-commerce retail industry to accelerate their listing on AppGallery before the end of the year. Huawei mobile users are looking for great ideas and inspiration while they are in or in-between lockdowns, and becoming part of AppGallery, particularly with the extra exposure and promotional boost we can deliver, will ensure these apps are positioned front and center of their search.”</p>

<p>The new AppGallery promotion can have businesses avail a number of benefits, which include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Top 5 inclusion in AppGallery’s ‘Collection’ tab which features on the Home Page and highlights themed or seasonal collections of apps.</li>
<li>Sliding banner ad featuring the apps on the Home Page.</li>
<li>Access to AppGallery’s ‘Gift’ tab, which allows businesses to make special offers to users.</li>
<li>Access to Push notifications to make consumers aware of key messages and information.</li>
<li>In-country technical support team for app integration and dedicated business support to optimise experience in Huawei ecosystem.</li>
<li>5 or 10 days-worth of free advertising on AppGallery worth €250 per day.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>

Now, this service is seeing a healthy surge of developers as more than 1.5 million app developers have registered to fill the Chinese tech giant&#8217;s software ecosystem.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-298624 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/hms-core.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="614" height="365" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/hms-core.jpg 614w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/hms-core-300x178.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px" /></p>
<p>Previously, Huawei had set up a massive fund to incentivize various app developers to make applications for the AppGallery, since it lacked a large number of popular apps and software. This move has been seemingly successful, as the adoption of HMS is now becoming more smoother. According to Huawei Consumer Business Cloud Services Vice President, Tan Donghui, the HMS is showing a lot of promise with rising numbers.</p>

<p>For those unaware, Huawei had <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/20/huawei-banned-from-using-google-services-future-phones-to-feature-proprietary-os/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">lost support for Google apps and services back in 2019</a>, when it was placed on the Entity List by the US, and faced a trade ban. This essentially caused the company to acquire a license to buy or sell services to American firms, so the company planned on developing its very own alternative. While <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">HarmonyOS</a> did make rounds online, the company settled for vanilla Android with its proprietary services.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-301189 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/hms.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="718" height="351" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/hms.jpg 718w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/hms-300x147.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/hms-533x261.jpg 533w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/hms-696x340.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 718px) 100vw, 718px" /></p>
<p>At the moment, the HMS has nearly 650 million monthly active users across the globe. This is quite impressive as it marks an increase of 25 percent during the same time last year. Furthermore, the 1.5 million registered developers showcase a massive increase of 115 percent over 2019. Currently, over 60,000 applications can be found in the HMS core, marking another significant increase of 66.7 percent. So while it&#8217;s still too early to say that Huawei has turned things around, it is well on its way to carving its own independent path.</p>

The senior executive has stated that Huawei&#8217;s consumer business is expected to grow by over 20 percent in 2020, especially in China.</p>
<p>The statement was made in an interview with a Chinese news reporting agency. Yu Chengdong is confident about the growth of Huawei&#8217;s smartphone sales in the Chinese market, although the same cannot be said for the global market. The senior official believes that the numbers won&#8217;t be as high as 20 percent, due to the lack of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/gms/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">GMS</a> (Google Mobile Services).</p>
<figure id="attachment_301189" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-301189" style="width: 718px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-301189 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/hms.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="718" height="351" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/hms.jpg 718w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/hms-300x147.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/hms-533x261.jpg 533w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/hms-696x340.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 718px) 100vw, 718px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-301189" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei Mobile Services</figcaption></figure>
<p>For those unaware, after the US Commerce Department blacklisted Huawei back in 2019, the company was banned from trading or partnering with US based companies. This led to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/20/huawei-banned-from-using-google-services-future-phones-to-feature-proprietary-os/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei smartphones shipping without Google&#8217;s services</a>. The move was a clear strategy by the US to pressure the company and by its extension, China.</p>

<p>However, in response to this, Huawei made its very own mobile services ecosystem, which Yu Chengdong said &#8220;is now very good and selling well. The P40 series are all equipped with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/hms/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">HMS</a> and are already being shipped. Due to the epidemic, some stores can&#8217;t open, but the second half will be better.&#8221; However, its viability outside of China is still under scrutiny.</p>
<figure id="attachment_313630" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-313630" style="width: 912px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-313630 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Kirin-820-5G-featured-b.png?x10805" alt="Kirin 820 5G featured" width="912" height="576" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Kirin-820-5G-featured-b.png 912w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Kirin-820-5G-featured-b-300x189.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Kirin-820-5G-featured-b-768x485.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Kirin-820-5G-featured-b-696x440.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Kirin-820-5G-featured-b-665x420.png 665w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-313630" class="wp-caption-text">HiSilicon Kirin 820 SoC</figcaption></figure>
<p>In another attempt to hamper Huawei&#8217;s operations, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/02/18/us-considers-dealing-a-massive-blow-to-huawei-by-blocking-chip-supply-from-tsmc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">US is trying to limit the company&#8217;s chip making process</a> through <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tsmc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TSMC</a>. <p>According to <em>Android Authority</em>, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/honor">Honor</a> stated in a press release sent to them that the Honor 9X Pro will be its “first HMS-based smartphone”. HMS is short for Huawei Mobile Services and is the solution <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> came up with as an alternative to Google Mobile Services (GMS). This info nullifies the earlier report that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/02/17/honor-view-30-to-launch-with-hms-services-in-europe/">Honor View 30 will be the first HMS-based smartphone</a>.</p>

<p>The Honor 9X was already announced in China more than six months ago but it will just be getting a global launch. The phone has a Kirin 810 processor which is more powerful than the Kirin 710/Kirin 710F found in the global version of the Honor 9X.</p>
<p>The press release also revealed that Honor will also announce new MagicBook laptops. These should be the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/26/honor-magicbook-series-launched-china/">Honor MagicBook 14 and MagicBook 15 that launched in China last November</a>. It remains to be seen if Honor will launch the Intel version or Ryzen version or both.</p>
<p>The Honor 9X Pro has a 6.59-inch 1080 x 2340 display. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of expandable storage. There is a 16MP motorized pop-up selfie camera and a 48MP + 8MP + 2MP triple camera setup on the back. Honor has included a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and ships it with a 4000mAh battery and Android 9 Pie.</p>

The Chinese giant has developed its own mobile app infrastructure called Huawei Mobile Services (HMS). The latest news from Turkey says Turkish operator, Turkcell, has now signed a partnership with Huawei to use its mobile app infrastructure.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-305196" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Turkcell.jpg?x10805" alt="Turkcell" width="864" height="486" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Turkcell.jpg 864w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Turkcell-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Turkcell-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Turkcell-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Turkcell-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 864px) 100vw, 864px" /></p>
<p>The info was announced at a news conference that had in attendance Turkcell CEO, Murat Erkan, and the country manager of Huawei Turkey Consumer Electronics Group, Seth Wang.</p>
<p>Mr. Erkan saidTurkcell has a sales target of 1 million HMS-enabled Huawei phones between April 2020 and the end of next year. Huawei currently has 4.6 million mobile users in Turkey with a Huawei ID.</p>
<p>The CEO also revealed that they have begun working on the integration of nearly 30 Turkcell apps into Huawei Mobile Services. The first set of Huawei devices sold in Turkey that will run HMS will be available this April.</p>

In a similar move, the company has started a new incentive program for developers.</p>
<p>Huawei says that it will be offering £20 million to developers in Ireland and Britain for creating applications and services for its Dublin-headquartered mobile services unit. This announcement from the company was made at a developer conference hosted in London.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-279813 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/huawei-logo.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1200" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/huawei-logo.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/huawei-logo-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/huawei-logo-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/huawei-logo-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/huawei-logo-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/huawei-logo-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/huawei-logo-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>This comes at a time when Huawei looks to make itself more self-sufficient after being hit by US sanctions that have left it unable to use Google’s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android">Android</a> operating system on its latest smartphones.</p>
<p>The Chinese company is also focusing to bolster its own mobile services. It has already launched open-source access kits for developers to integrate their apps into the Huawei App Gallery, which is the company&#8217;s equivalent service to the Google Play Store.</p>
<p class="no_name selectionShareable">Huawei Mobile Services (HMS), also known as Huawei ID in some markets, allow users to access the company’s specially designed apps and to store personal information, including payment details, in the cloud.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/01/15/huawei-shipped-over-240-million-phones-in-2019-spurred-by-the-mate-p-series/">Huawei shipped over 240 million phones in 2019 spurred by the Mate/P series</a></strong></h6>
<p>In April last year, the services were transferred to the Dublin-headquartered subsidiary from the Shenzhen headquarters for the business operations and development for all the group’s mobile service outside of mainland China, with a particular focus on Europe.</p>
<p>The company currently has 600 million mobile active users across more than 170 countries, including 68 million in Europe. In 2018, more than 270 million users downloaded apps from the company’s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-app-gallery">App Gallery</a> each month.</p>
<p>It is also reported that Huawei is engaging with Indian developers with lucrative incentives to build localised mobile services that can be offered with its smartphones in the country. The Chinese company is reportedly in talks with about 150 top apps in India to get them on its HMS or Huawei Media Services.</p>

HMS is an alternative to Google Mobile Sevices (GMS) and will ship with phones this year.</p>
<p>At a press conference yesterday, December 31, the rotating chairman of Huawei, Xu Zhijun, said in his New Year speech that Huawei Mobile Services will be finished this year and will be available not only on local phones but also those that will be sold outside China too.</p>
<figure id="attachment_297198" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-297198" style="width: 680px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-297198" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Alleged-Huawei-P40-render.jpg?x10805" alt="Alleged Huawei P40 render" width="680" height="374" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Alleged-Huawei-P40-render.jpg 680w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Alleged-Huawei-P40-render-300x165.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-297198" class="wp-caption-text">The Huawei P40 will not come with GMS but should be the first to come with HMS</figcaption></figure>
<p>As of a few weeks ago, it was revealed that most of the main apps for HMS such as the ones for navigation (maps), payment, messaging, and gaming will be finished by the end of December.</p>
<p>Huawei Mobile Services should be ready by the time the Huawei P40 series is about to launch and should ship with both phones. It should then become a standard feature for future devices.</p>
<p>Huawei faced challenges last year following the United States&#8217; decision to place it on an entity list. However, it still recorded up to 18% in growth but will be facing an even tougher 2020 as its P-series flagships will not have Google Mobile services support, unlike last year&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-p30/">P30</a> series which already got certified before the ban took effect.</p>

<figure id="attachment_296901" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-296901" style="width: 649px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-296901 " src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/1omyg4b9nhphjpOYsS0FWkvUuSwTQYm8TBNJM9FuHN8MtznYvBQiEWgDqgw6moWtH7Pm.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="649" height="317" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/1omyg4b9nhphjpOYsS0FWkvUuSwTQYm8TBNJM9FuHN8MtznYvBQiEWgDqgw6moWtH7Pm.jpg 512w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/1omyg4b9nhphjpOYsS0FWkvUuSwTQYm8TBNJM9FuHN8MtznYvBQiEWgDqgw6moWtH7Pm-300x146.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 649px) 100vw, 649px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-296901" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei Mobile Services</figcaption></figure>
<p>Reportedly, Huawei will be moving forward with its own services and replace Google&#8217;s services by 2020 for its smartphones. The new replacement is dubbed as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-mobile-services/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei Mobile Services</a> and will be launched by the end of 2019. The Chinese tech giant has been working on the service for a while so the company could be functionally self-sufficient and less reliant.</p>
<p>According to a recent report, the CEO of Huawei and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/honor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Honor</a> India, Charles Peng, spoke to news outlets regarding the upcoming services&#8217; app ecosystem. In other words, the company is looking to attract developers of the top 150 apps in India to ensure the availability of the same apps in the company&#8217;s smartphones as well. This is done since the lack of Google Services means no <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/play-store/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Play Store</a>. Thus, bringing various developers to its proprietary store is crucial to the Huawei Mobile Services&#8217; success.</p>
<figure id="attachment_296903" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-296903" style="width: 693px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-296903 " src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/1061805.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="693" height="230" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/1061805.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/1061805-300x100.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 693px) 100vw, 693px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-296903" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei App Gallery</figcaption></figure>
<p>Furthermore, India is the second largest smartphone market in the world with social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and more being extremely popular. Currently, these apps are still not natively supported or included in the Huawei app store. So, to help in the transition from Google services to its own, Huawei needs to include popular apps and features to its services as well.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/24/japan-eases-restrictions-on-crucial-smartphone-components-export-to-south-korea/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Japan eases export restrictions on key industrial components to South Korea</a> </strong></h6>
<p>Google&#8217;s success in its services lies with its tight-knit ecosystem that includes apps like YouTube, Google Maps, Play Store and more. Huawei needs to find suitable and effective replacements for these few crucial apps to be better welcomed by the large userbase. So far, the company has confirmed alternatives to navigation, payments, gaming, and messages which will debut on its HMS platform by the end of 2019.</p>
<figure id="attachment_270012" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-270012" style="width: 1282px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-270012 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-HMS-Core-Map-Kit.png?x10805" alt="Huawei HMS Core Map Kit" width="1282" height="625" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-HMS-Core-Map-Kit.png 1282w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-HMS-Core-Map-Kit-300x146.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-HMS-Core-Map-Kit-768x374.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-HMS-Core-Map-Kit-1024x499.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-HMS-Core-Map-Kit-533x261.png 533w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-HMS-Core-Map-Kit-696x339.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-HMS-Core-Map-Kit-1068x521.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Huawei-HMS-Core-Map-Kit-862x420.png 862w" sizes="(max-width: 1282px) 100vw, 1282px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-270012" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei HMS Core Map Kit</figcaption></figure>
<p>It remains to be seen how well the new Huawei Mobile Services is implemented as it stands as the only viable mainstream alternative to Google right now. Historically, the search engine giant has had dominance in this field and has yet to be toppled off its throne.</p>

Huawei Mobile Service offers a bunch of basic applications for a smartphone which includes the likes of phone, SMS, email, among others.</p>
<p>As per the reports, the company released two public beta applications &#8212; <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> Mobile Services and HMS Core. This version of Huawei Mobile Services come with several bug fixes and new features as well as improved performance experience.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-255268 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/huawei-2.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei " width="800" height="533" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/huawei-2.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/huawei-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/huawei-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/huawei-2-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/huawei-2-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>The new features on the app now includes Huawei accounts, applications internal payment system, message notifications, wallet service, among others. The app is now also claimed to provide more stable and high-quality services to users.</p>
<p>Coming to the HMS Core Test application, it is said to be a small application marketplace model that integrates the installation and download of six basic HMS services. It includes Games, Fido &amp; Safety, Purchase, Identity, Scan, Nearby, ML, and other apps.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/24/oneplus-wants-to-expand-offline-presence-in-india-partners-with-srk-group/">Aiming to expand its offline presence in India, smartphone maker OnePlus partners with SRK Group</a></strong></h6>
<p>The launch of these apps and services from Huawei comes as the company remains banned from using Google apps and services given that the United States government has put the company on its &#8220;Entity List&#8221;, effectively barring it from doing business with any of the U.S. based firms without permission from the government.</p>
<p>To counter the dependency on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google">Google</a>, Huawei launched its own ecological services with HMS or Huawei Mobile Services. As per the data released by the company, as of August 2019, the HMS has grown rapidly and now over one million developers are using it with HMS Core having more than 450,00 apps on the platform.</p>
<p>This seems like a major boost for the company&#8217;s own <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos">HarmonyOS</a> (aka HongMeng OS) which was launched a couple of months ago. This home-grown operating system from Huawei aims to be a one-stop-solution for all the company&#8217;s hardware and will soon be powering Huawei and Honor&#8217;s smartphones.</p>

<p>It is no surprise that <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> wants to create its own mapping service seeing as the US ban means it can&#8217;t load Google services which includes Google Maps on its smartphones.</p>
<p>Map Kit won&#8217;t be available directly for consumer use according to the source. Instead, it is designed for developers to build applications that take advantage of its mapping capabilities.</p>
<p>The service will be developed in partnership with Russia&#8217;s Yandex and US travel website, Booking Holdings. It will be connected to local mapping services, be available in 40 languages, and will have coverage in 150 countries and regions. Huawei will be able to leverage on its telecom base stations across several countries to complement satellite positioning for its mapping service.</p>
<p>Map Kit will provide real-time traffic conditions, a highly advanced navigation system that can recognize when a car switches between lanes, and also have support for AR mapping said Zhang Pigan, the president of cloud services at Huawei Consumer Business Group.</p>
<p>Huawei mentioned Map Kit back at its developer conference last week. It is one of its planned Huawei Mobile Services (HMS). The others include Site Kit, Location Kit, Drive Kit, and Scan Kit e.t.c.</p>
