Nova 15 Pro & Ultra Specifications

Both the Nova 15 Pro and Ultra feature a 6.84-inch OLED flat display with a resolution of 2856×1320 pixels, 10.7 billion colors, and P3 wide color gamut. The Ultra version adds 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and enhanced Kunlun Glass protection with anti-reflective treatment. Huawei has also integrated AI HDR and dynamic eye-care features across both models.

Both devices are powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9010S chipset and run HarmonyOS 6. The company claims an 18% performance boost over the previous generation, with improved system fluency and gaming frame rate stability enabled by HarmonyOS-level hardware-software optimization.

It also features a 1.5MP Red Maple color sensor that enhances color reproduction. The Pro model swaps out the periscope lens for a 12MP telephoto portrait camera and uses a 13MP ultra-wide macro sensor. It also drops the variable aperture from the main lens.

The Huawei Nova 15 series is set to debut in China on Dec. 22, and ahead of the official launch, Huawei has revealed several key details about the upcoming lineup. The company has confirmed the presence of three models and showcased their exterior styling, color choices and storage configurations. While the complete hardware details remain under wraps, the early reveals put strong emphasis on design changes and visual identity. Here is a closer look at what has been disclosed so far.

Huawei Nova 15 series design and colour options revealed

Huawei Nova 15

Huawei has listed the Nova 15, Nova 15 Pro and Nova 15 Ultra on its official store, offering a clear view of their final designs. The standard Nova 15 sticks to a familiar look that closely resembles its predecessor, featuring a single punch-hole display and a simpler rear camera layout. This approach keeps the base model visually consistent with earlier Nova phones.

The Nova 15 Pro and Nova 15 Ultra, however, mark a noticeable design shift. Both models adopt a horizontally aligned camera matrix, a first for the Nova lineup, giving them a more distinctive appearance. The Nova 15 Ultra goes a step further with a dual circular camera ring layout, enhancing visual symmetry and recognition. Official posters also hint at a metal middle frame on the Ultra, suggesting a more premium in-hand feel compared to earlier generations.

The green and purple variants feature a striped rear panel finish, making them stand out with a more vibrant and youthful look, while the white and black options keep things understated and clean.

Huawei has confirmed that the Nova 15 series will launch in China on Dec. 22. At present, there is no clarity on whether these phones will be introduced in global markets or remain China-exclusive.

The official image reveals a redesigned rear camera layout for the Nova 15 Ultra. The phone features a rectangular camera module that houses two separate circular sections. One circle contains the three rear cameras, while the second circle accommodates the LED flash along with the “XD Portrait” branding, giving the device a more distinctive and premium visual identity. Likely, the other Nova 15 models may sport the same design language.

Huawei Nova 15 series: What’s known so far?

According to leaks, the Nova lineup will include three models: Nova 15, Nova 15 Pro, and Nova 15 Ultra. The standard Nova 15 is expected to feature a 6.7-inch display, while the Pro model could arrive with a larger 6.84-inch screen. Both are tipped to use 1.5K LTPO OLED panels for smoother visuals and improved efficiency.

According to tipster Bald Panda, both the Nova 15 and Nova 15 Pro are expected to be powered by the Kirin 8020 chipset. The Nova 15 Ultra, however, may use a more powerful Kirin 9010S processor, with a Kirin 9020A also mentioned as a possible alternative.

The Nova 15 Pro may come with a dual front camera setup featuring 50-megapixel and 8-megapixel sensors, while the standard model could stick to a single 50-megapixel front camera. On the rear, the Pro variant is said to include a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, an ultra-wide camera, and a multispectral sensor for better colour accuracy. All three models are said to pack a 5,700mAh battery.

Tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo has shared possible specs for the upcoming Huawei Nova 15 lineup, and it looks like three models are in the works: the Huawei Nova 15, Nova 15 Pro, and Nova 15 Ultra.

Nova 15 / Nova 15 Pro

The base Nova 15 will reportedly sport a 6.7-inch screen, while the Nova 15 Pro is said to feature a slightly larger 6.84-inch panel. Both phones are expected to use 1.5K LTPO OLED displays.

The Pro model may also include a dual front-camera setup consisting of 50MP and 8MP sensors. The base model will likely stick to a single 50MP unit.

On the back, the Nova 15 Pro is expected to feature a 50MP main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and an additional ultra-wide camera. Digital Chat Station also mentions a “multispectral sensor,” which Huawei often uses to improve color accuracy and low-light performance.

Lastly, both the standard and Pro versions are reportedly powered by new Kirin 8-series chips.

Nova 15 Ultra

The Nova 15 Ultra is, of course, the headline device. It’s expected to use a more powerful Kirin 9-series chip and a larger 1/1.3-inch 50MP main sensor. Although the tipster doesn’t mention it, it’s safe to assume the Ultra will also get a periscope, an ultra-wide lens, and the multispectral sensor at the very least.

All three models are tipped to pack batteries exceeding 6,000mAh.

Multiple reports have claimed that Huawei will announce the Mate 80 series and the Mate X7 foldable phone this month (November) in China. It is also being said that the brand may unveil the Nova 15 series in December in the country. However, a new update suggests that the company will not launch the Nova 15 lineup this year.

Huawei Nova 15 series said to be delayed

Huawei Nova 15 series dealyed, claims tipster

According to a Chinese tech blogger, Huawei’s upcoming Mate lineup, which includes the Mate 80 series and the Mate X7 foldable, is ready for launch. He also mentioned that the Nova 15 series is unlikely to launch in December.

This revised timeline suggests the company is prioritizing resources toward ensuring sufficient production capacity and promotional support for the Mate range, which remains its core premium line. The Nova delay could also be influenced by adjustments within the supply chain and overall product scheduling optimization.

As per reports, the Nova 15 lineup will include multiple models, including the top-of-the-line Nova 15 Ultra. Reports have revealed that the device will feature a 50-megapixel main camera backed by a 1/1.3-inch large sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, and a dedicated multispectral sensor.

Huawei Nova 14 Ultra

The Nova 15 Ultra is expected to feature a Kirin chipset and run on HarmonyOS 6. It could be equipped with a 6,500mAh battery that supports 100W charging. It is also expected to come with other features such as satellite connectivity, a metal middle frame, and an IP68/69-rated dust and water-resistant chassis.

Apart from the Ultra model, the lineup is also expected to include the Huawei Nova 15 and Nova 15 Pro.
