Huawei is prepping to refresh its mid-range smartphone lineup with the upcoming Huawei Nova 16 series. The company has now started teasing the new phones and announced their launch date.

The Huawei Nova 16 series will launch on June 1 in China. The event is also expected to introduce more devices from Huawei’s ecosystem, including the MatePad Pro Max tablet and a new Supernova smartwatch.

The company has also revealed the new “Sky Blue” color option for the Nova 16 Pro. The image shows the phone with a blue finish and a white ribbon-like accent running across the back panel.

The camera module is what stands out the most. It houses two circular black discs that appear to hold a triple-camera setup and an LED light.

Huawei Nova 16 series: What we know so far

According to previous reports, the Nova 16 family will include three models: the Nova 16, Nova 16 Pro, and Nova 16 Pro Max. Huawei is reportedly skipping the Ultra model this time around.

The standard Nova 16 and Nova 16 Pro are expected to arrive in black, white, blue, and a gradient finish. The top-end version, however, may skip the gradient look entirely and stick to black, white, and blue.

The Pro Max is also rumored to feature a 6.84-inch 1.5K LTPO display alongside a Kirin 9000-series chipset. Powering the device could be a 7000mAh battery.

The Nova 16 Pro Max’s camera hardware may also include a 200-megapixel main camera with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, a periscope telephoto lens, and a multispectral sensor. The phone is likely to get wireless charging support as well.

As always with leaks, details could change before launch. So take everything with a pinch of salt.

The tipster even teased followers, asking whether they could guess which sensor Huawei is using this time.

Huawei Nova 16 family: What we know so far?

According to previous reports, the Nova 16 family will include three members: Nova 16, Nova 16 Pro, and Nova 16 Pro Max. There’s reportedly no Ultra this time around.

Backing this could be a 7000mAh cell.

The Nova 16 Pro Max’s camera hardware may also include a periscope telephoto lens and a multispectral sensor, while wireless charging is expected to be included as well.

For reference, the previous Huawei Nova 15 series launched late last year with Kirin 8020 and 9010S processors. The lineup started at 2699 yuan, while the Ultra variant mainly focused on a redesigned appearance instead of major hardware upgrades.

As always with early leaks, details could change before launch. So take everything with a pinch of salt.

A new set of leaks has spilled the beans on what the Huawei Nova 16 series might look like. According to a post from tipster Fixed Focus Digital, the upcoming lineup could stick with some familiar colors.

The standard Nova 16 and Nova 16 Pro are said to arrive in classic black and white, along with a blue and a gradient finish. The top-end model, however, may skip the gradient look entirely with just black, white, and blue on its helm.

The top model is also where things get a bit more interesting. A newer leak suggests Huawei might call it the Huawei Pura Nova 16 Pro Max, instead of the previously expected “Ultra” branding.

Fortunately, a previous report gives us an idea of what this Ultra—or now Pro Max—model might offer.

Huawei Nova 16 Pro Max Possible Specifications

A previous report from tipster Digital Chat Station revealed a prototype device in the works with a 6.84-inch 1.5K LTPO display. It’s expected to be the top-tier model in the Nova 16 series, powered by a “9-series flagship processor,” which likely means a Kirin 9000-series chip, along with a battery that could land around 7000mAh.

As for the camera, the device is said to include a 50-megapixel main sensor in the 1/1.3-inch range, paired with a 50MP periscope telephoto lens and a multispectral sensor. Wireless charging is also reportedly part of the package.

For context, the Huawei Nova 15 series launched late last year with Kirin 8020 and 9010S chipsets, starting at 2699 yuan. The Ultra variant stood out mostly for its dual “red maple leaf” design, rather than major hardware changes.

Like most early leaks, none of this is final. Names, specs, and even the overall direction could change before Huawei makes anything official.
