Display

Even if we talk about displays, Xiaomi Mi 9T takes the first place in this comparison. While both Huawei P20 Lite 2019 and Samsung Galaxy M20 sport a classic LCD panel, Xiaomi Mi 9T has a wonderful AMOLED display with deeper blacks and vivid colors. It is even HDR compliant, a standard which furtherly improves its color reproduction, especially with multimedia content. And, unlike Samsung Galaxy M40 and Huawei P20 Lite 2019, it is protected by the strong Gorilla Glass 5.

Specs & Software

On the hardware side, it is again a victory for the Xiaomi Mi 9T. Under the hood, the handset sports an amazing Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chipset. Not the best Qualcomm’s chipset as this device is just a mid-ranger, but it rocks the most incredible Qualcomm’s SoC in the midrange sector with the best midrange GPU. Right behind it, we got the Samsung Galaxy M40 with its Snapdragon 675 which is more or less at the same level as the Snapdragon 710 (worse GPU, better CPU). Huawei P20 Lite 2019 still comes with the old Kirin 710 chipset (comparable to the Snapdragon 660). All of them come with Android 9 Pie out of the box and a customized user interface.

Camera

You may call me a Xiaomi fan, but we tested Xiaomi Mi 9T’s camera and we found it amazing, can not deny it. On the paper, it is way better than the camera departments from both the Galaxy M40 and the Huawei P20 Lite 2019, despite the latter sports a quad camera setup. Xiaomi Mi 9T has a similar setup to the vanilla Mi 9 with a 48 MP Sony main sensor, an ultrawide 13 MP lens and a telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom.

Battery

Thanks to their big 4000 mAh batteries, Huawei P20 Lite 2019 and Xiaomi Mi 9T will most likely provide a longer battery life than Galaxy M40. We believe that Xiaomi Mi 9T will last more than Huawei P20 Lite 2019 due to its AMOLED display and its efficient Snapdragon 730 chipset.

Price

The prices of these handsets strictly depend on the markets. Samsung Galaxy M40 starts from about €260/$292, Huawei P20 Lite 2019 costs €280/$315, while Xiaomi Mi 9T comes with a €300/$337 initial price. Overall, we suggest you spend a bit more to grab a unit of the Xiaomi Mi 9T as it is a way better handset than the others in this trio.

The Huawei P20 Lite 2019 is the successor to the P20 Lite that launched alongside the P20 and P20 Pro last year. Even though there is a P30 Lite already, Huawei is refreshing last year’s model. This new version comes with a bunch of new features and is now available for purchase in Switzerland.

The Huawei P20 Lite is sold by MediaMarkt and has a price tag of CHF 299.95 (~$303/€268). That price gets you a phone with a 6.4-inch 2340 x 1080 punch hole display, a Kirin 710 processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.

You also get 16MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP quad cameras on the rear and a 16MP camera inside the punch hole for video calls and selfies. It has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC, dual SIM (nano only), an audio jack, a Type-C port, and a 4000mAh battery.

MediaMarkt has the phone in Crush Blue, Charming Red, and Midnight Black. The listing says the phone will come with a pair of wired earphones.

The price of the Huawei P20 Lite 2019 also gives us a hint as to the price of another upcoming Huawei phone – the Nova 5i. Both phones share the same design, dimensions, and nearly the same specs. The only difference is that the Nova 5i swaps the 16MP cameras on the front and rear for 24MP sensors.

Huawei Nova 5i is an upcoming smartphone that is expected to go official in June along with the Nova 5 phone. On Thursday, the smartphone was spotted with its model number GKL-LX3 on Geekbench. Now, the same model number has been spotted on AnTuTu benchmarks to reveal some of its key specs.

The GKL-LX3 is fitted with a display that carries support for full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. As Geekbench listing had suggested, AnTuTu listing has confirmed that it is powered by the Kirin 710 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. The handset has an internal storage of 64 GB. The Android 9 Pie coupled with EMUI 9.1 will come preinstalled on the device. The average benchmarking score recorded on AnTuTu by the smartphone is 131,715.

Recently, the Nova 5i was approved by FCC in the U.S. and NCC in Taiwan. These certifications revealed that the Nova 5i will be arriving in 64 GB and 128 GB storage options. Both models may feature 4 GB of RAM. For additional storage, there will be a microSD card slot on the device. The Nova 5i will be backed by a 3,900mAh minimum capacity battery that will offer 10W charging. The typical of the battery will be 4,000mAh.

It is easier to speculate on the other specs of the phone as a recent report had revealed that the Nova 5i will be releasing as P20 Lite (2019) smartphone in some markets. The P20 Lite (2019) will be featuring a punch-hole display of 6.4 inches. It will be coming with a rear-mounted triple camera setup that may include a 24-megapixel main lens, an 8-megpixel superwide lens and a depth sensor of 2-megapixel. For snapping selfies, it is expected to sport a 16-megapixel camera inside the small hole on the display. In Europe, it could be priced between 280 euros (~$310) and 330 euros (~$365). While the Nova 5 is expected to arrive with flagship specs, the Nova 5i will be a mid-ranger with Kirin 710 SoC onboard. The Nova 5i has appeared on Geekbench to suggest that it will be indeed arriving with Kirin 710 SoC. The handset has also received approval from National Communications Commission (NCC) authority in Taiwan through which its storage variants have been revealed. Also, the Nova 5i has also been certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the U.S. through which its battery size been revealed.

The Huawei Nova 5i has appeared with its model number GLK-LX3 on Geekbench. While it is not directly mentioned on the Geekbench listing that the phone is powered by Kirin 710, the base frequency of the processor and benchmarking scores suggests that it could be featuring the very same SoC. The smartphone features 4 GB of RAM and it runs on Android 9 Pie OS. In the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench, the handset has respectively scored 1538 and 5388.

The NCC certification of the Nova 5i has revealed that the phone is equipped with 4 GB of RAM and it will be arriving in 64 GB and 128 GB storage choices. However, fresh information shared by the publication states that it will be arriving with a 6.4-inch IPS LCD panel with a punch-hole at its top-left corner. It will carry support for 1080 x 2310 pixels full HD+ resolution. The punch-hole on the display will be housing an f/2.2 aperture 16-megapixel selfie camera.

The Kirin 710 chipset will be powering the phone with 4 GB of RAM. It will be coming with a native storage of 128 GB. There is a possibility that the phone could be available in 64 GB option as well.

Every once in a while, Huawei tries to show us it can take its crazy naming scheme up a notch. The Huawei P20 Lite 2019 is its latest attempt at doing so. The last time it pulled such a trick was in 2017 when it launched the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 a.k.a. Huawei P9 Lite (2017) which is totally different from the 2015 Huawei P8 Lite.

Renders of the Huawei P20 Lite 2019 along with its specs and price have surfaced thanks to Winfuture.de. The phone is a successor to last year’s Huawei P20 Lite and it comes with a bunch of new features and a pretty nice design.

The Huawei P20 Lite 2019 ditches the notch of its predecessor for a punch hole display. The hole is pretty small and is positioned at the top left corner of the display. There is a bit of bezel at the bottom but that is expected. The screen is still 5.84-inches and the resolution is FHD+.

On the back, the phone packs a quad camera setup, a big upgrade from the dual camera setup of last year’s edition. The primary rear camera is said to be a 24MP f/1.8 sensor but the resolution of the other sensors are unknown. Three of the cameras are arranged vertically while the fourth is housed separately. We believe one of the sensors is an ultra-wide angle camera while another should be a depth sensor. Images of the device show it has a camera bump.

Winfuture reports the phone is powered by the Kirin 710 processor and it is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of expandable storage. Battery capacity is expected to remain unchanged since the screen size hasn’t increased, so expect a 3000mAh battery.

The Huawei P20 Lite 2019 will have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, and dual-SIM support. It will be available in blue, black, and red. The last two colors have a gradient finish. It will also have a plastic frame.

The phone is expected to sell for between €280 to €330. Some retailers in Italy are said to have it listed for €329 while a Swiss listing puts the price at €279. Notwithstanding, pricing will be based on the variant you wish to purchase.
