Much to the delight of the Chinese tech firm, the P20 Pro became an instant hit among smartphone lovers who fancy using a big-screen mobile device for watching videos and playing popular games.

In a bid to make its steeply priced handset available to those living on a tight budget, Huawei is now offering various models of the P20 Pro at considerably lowered prices in collaboration with GeekBuying. We’ll even show how you can extend the discounts while checking out without breaking much of a sweat.

Huawei P20 Pro (6GB RAM+64GB ROM) – Twilight

You’d normally end up spending a lot of money on a top-branded smartphone that ships with 6GB of RAM and 64GB ROM. The P20 Pro offering the same storage and memory capacity is now available for just $629.99 on GeekBuying.
This is a 48% decrease in the phone’s original asking price of $1199.99. But if that doesn’t impress you much, you can apply coupon code KQDFDAOJ to get an additional $347 off at the time of checking out.

The extra discount helps you bring your cart value down to just $609.99. The discount will be valid for the Twilight color version of the P20 Pro. You can follow this link to avail the discount before the promo ends in 3 days.

Huawei P20 Pro (6GB RAM+64GB ROM) – Jewelry Blue

You can get a noteworthy 38% off on the P20 Pro smartphone model offering 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Without the aforesaid discount, this variant of the P20 Pro would set you back a whopping $999.99 on online other stores, but you can now buy it for just $619 on GeekBuying.

On top of that, you can apply coupon code KQDFDAOJ and save an extra $347 while checking out. In other words, you can reduce your order value to just $609.99 without the help of the coupon before it expires.
You can click here to check out more details about this model of the P20 Pro and receive the discount, which will only be valid for the jewelry blue color version of the smartphone.
There are no prizes for guessing that the aforesaid model doesn’t come cheap. In fact, this 6GB RAM+128GB ROM model normally sells for $1199.99. Huawei is now offering cost-conscious buyers an opportunity to buy this model at a reduced price of just $729.99 on GeekBuying.

Furthermore, this model comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It runs on EMUI 8.1-based Android 8.1 Oreo OS and is backed by a 4000mAh battery.

The figures have been streaming in, enabling the company to coast past Apple to emerge as the second largest smartphone vendor globally. That is because the P20 Pro came out as Huawei’s best smartphones to date. Four months after, the company has refreshed the model with four new attractive colour options. The new colour variants were showcased at IFA 2018. We bring you the colour options, thanks to GSMArena.

Two of the four new colours come with a cool leather texture. There is an Elegant Black as well as a Gold Brown variant which is manufactured using a plastic/polycarbonate back panel wrapped with genuine Italian calfskin. The Huawei logo, as well as the Leica badge, are embossed on the back.

The third colour option is a Pearl White variant similar to the White variant of the Honor 10. The variant utilises a glass back which is covered by Gorilla Glass. Finally, the fourth colour variant looks very much to the Twilight aurora variant of the P20 Pro but this one is called Morphon Aurora and it has a more violet hue instead of an aquamarine-greenish hue. There is absolutely no change in the front panel of all four colour options.

The internals of the new Huawei P20 Pro variants still retains a Kirin 970 chipset at the driving seat. The glass variants are available in 6GB+128GB memory while the leather variants come in a new 8GB+256GB memory. All other specs remain the same. As for the price, the Glass variants will retail for €899, while the leather variants sell for €999 and that is because of the higher storage rather than the leather back. Huawei will make all versions available in Europe via major offline and online retailers from September 5.

When it comes to testing the durability or rather build quality, there is only one name which pops up and that is Zacks Jerry who runs the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything. Presently, the YouTuber has uploaded a video of the Huawei P20 Pro durability test.

Zacks Jerry’s durability tests usually includes a scratch test, bend test and burn tests. During the scratch test, the P20 Pro’s screen scratches only with a level 6 Mohs pick, and at level 7 there’s a deeper groove. Huawei fits the P20 Pro with a plastic screen protector from the factory, but it wasn’t advertised as having a Gorilla Glass on top of the display panel. The screen protector is just the generic tempered glass. The glass seems not to be strong enough as the P20 Pro’s front glass panel got cracked during the bend test. But then, the device isn’t anticipated to go through such extreme traumas during normal usage. Besides, the crack seems to have started from the faulty line created during the scratch test and it is just the glass that got affected and not the AMOLED panel underneath.

During the burn test, the Huawei P20 Pro’s AMOLED screen survives for about 20 seconds and after that, it never recovers. Check out the video from below.

To remove the back cover, the guys from iFixit had to use a special tool with two suction cups, but, even though the Pro is waterproof, they didn’t have to heat the device. In order to separate the backplate from the rest of the device, they had to disconnect the autofocus laser cable from the motherboard.

After removing the NFC antenna under a shield held by a few screws, it is possible to access to the motherboard, which has a small footprint leaving space for the big 4000 mAh battery. The motherboard is connected to the three camera modules (through two connectors) and the LED flash. According to iFixit, despite Huawei‘s claims suggesting that only one lens is optically-stabilized, every camera module has OIS as each of them can move around just like every optically-stabilized sensor. In case you do not remember, Huawei P20 Pro has a triple camera composed of a 40 MP RGB sensor, a 20 MP monochrome sensor and an 8 MP telephoto sensor.

According to Huawei, only the latter has OIS. Guys from iFixit also discovered that Huawei P20 Pro has a modular charging port, so it will be easy to replace it when it does not work properly anymore. On the other hand, the display is kinda hard to replace as it requires taking off the rear glass and disconnecting its cable which is connected to the motherboard. Further, the battery is difficult to remove as well. Several components of this device are modular and can be replaced, but according to iFixit that P20 Pro has just a 4/10 grade of repairability, which isn’t much for a costly device like this. This is popularly known as display notch and already, as many as 23 models presently use the design. One of such models is the Huawei P20.

From a technical point of view, the notch design seems to make it easier for manufacturers to extend the display to create a higher screen ratio with compromising the durability. It also allows for the camera sensor to remain at the top centre where the selfie shooter is preferred. Unfortunately, this design seems not to be popular with smartphone users as a lot of fans are kicking against the notch. A recent OnePlus survey showed that a large number of the company’s fans indicated that they don’t want the notch on the OnePlus 6 flagship. OnePlus still intend using the design and so had to explain to the fans why they will have to make do with an OP6 with a display notch.

However, Huawei has shown itself once more to be the leading manufacturer it is. The company has revealed that apart from using a small notch on its P20 flagship, they also provided a way to turn off the notch display in the display settings option which then darkens the surrounding area. This is an impressive one but the effect will only be felt on the display. Aesthetically, the physical looks of the device will still feature the notch but on usage, the notch will disappear. This may be a better option for those that cant stand the notch but love the P20’s sleek design.

The tech giant is expected to take the wraps off the models in an event scheduled for March 27. However, the models have continued to dominate discussions and the latest is the rumour of a Huawei P20 Pro whose specs just leaked.

The leaked document seems to be a screenshot of the retail page of an e-commerce platform where the P20 Pro is already listed with a price tag of 5899 Yuan ($930 or €757). With this hefty price tag, comes a device with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The specs details also include the Kirin 970 chip, an 18:9 display Aspect ratio, a 6GB + 128GB model which is expected to be expandable up to 256GB.

An interesting aspect is that the device also packs a triple camera configured as a 12MP+ 16MP+16MP triple shooters with OIS, f1/8 aperture etc. At the front, the device packs a single 8MP sensor with f2.0 aperture and front focus. This P20 Pro is likely the second model after the P20 Plus which would be announced with an innovative triple camera setup at the rear. We don’t know how that would be starked.

The renders of the P20 and P20 Plus also made their grand appearance in the open. Indeed, the appearance is grand as it highlights the device with an iPhone X-like notch. Both devices are also shown to have ultra-thin bezels at the sides. One striking difference between the two is that while the P20 has a home button reminiscent of the full-screen design of the Honor 7X while the P20 Plus lacks a home button up front. That means the P20 will likely pack a front fingerprint sensor while the P20 Plus may come with a rear-mounted one.

Do take the purported specs of the Huawei P20 Pro with a pinch of salt.
