The controversy is giving Huawei a tough time, as it has almost run out of its 5G chipsets after the U.S. imposed sanctions on <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tags/kirin/">Kirin</a> chipsets from <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tags/tsmc/">TSMC</a>. This has not only halted Huawei&#8217;s progress in the 5G smartphone domain, but may also make future expansion hard for the tech giant. Huawei is on a hunt to bring onboard new players and if rumors are anything to go by, Huawei would re-launch smartphones with 5G this time.</p>

<p>After Huawei got banned for further conducting business with American companies, it started to explore alternative sources to keep the business alive. However, some <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tags/huawei-mate-40e/">Huawei Mate 40E</a> units are still <a href="https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Huawei-crackdown/Chinese-components-double-to-60-in-new-Huawei-smartphone">reportedly</a> using American communication chips, possibly the ones acquired before the ban.</p>
<p>The Mate 40E was released in China in March and is now out of the stock for the majority of the time. What is more surprising is that the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tags/huawei-p50-pro/">Huawei P50</a> series was launched with 4G where its predecessors enjoy 5G. All because Huawei is struggling to procure components in this U.S. and Japanese hegemony.</p>
<figure id="attachment_413320" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-413320" style="width: 696px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-413320 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-1011x1024.jpeg?x44794" alt="huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg" width="696" height="705" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-1011x1024.jpeg 1011w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-296x300.jpeg 296w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-768x778.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-696x705.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-1068x1082.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg-415x420.jpeg 415w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/huawei-rumored-to-re-launch-5g-phones.jpg.jpeg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-413320" class="wp-caption-text">Source: Weibo</figcaption></figure>
<p>But it looks like Huawei may finally have a solution if the <a href="https://m.weibo.cn/status/4682080372656810">rumors</a> are to be believed. A person who claims to be a Huawei employee states that Huawei would re-launch devices with 5G. This, if true, should bring joy to both the company and its users. The only way forward is by finding new sources, which is not going to be an easy task for Huawei. Note that this is just a rumor at this point so take it with a pinch of salt.</p>
<p>Huawei Mate 50 series is expected to launch later this year, and it should ideally support 5G. What remains to be seen is from where is Huawei planning to procure components.</p>
