Huawei phones might not be as popular as they used to be but the company’s smartwatches are still a good deal. The brand has recently introduced a range of new wearables and appears ready to release a new smartwatch under the Watch Fit series in the global market. Huawei has hinted at an imminent launch but has remained tight-lipped about the specific date and the precise name of the watch.

Is it the Huawei Watch Fit 3?

Huawei took to Twitter to tease the launch of a new smartwatch. Although the company did not reveal the name of the wearable, the poster shows a Watch Fit series smartwatch. Huawei did not mention the exact launch date but said “a wave of freshness is about to wash over us, and we (Huawei) can’t wait to pull off the veil of secrecy and unveil it soon”.

The upcoming watch could be a new model, possibly the Huawei Watch Fit 3. The company unveiled the Watch Fit 2 last year in July with a rectangular AMOLED display measuring 1.74-inches and bearing an HD resolution. The wearable comes with Always-on display and a number of customizable watch faces. It is water-resistant up to 50 meters. 

It’s possible the Huawei Watch Fit 3 will bring some notable upgrades in the fitness tracking department. The current Watch Fit 2 is equipped with a heart rate monitor and a SpO2 sensor. It lets you track sleep patterns, stress levels, and menstrual cycle for women. The wearable also gets 97 workout modes. The Watch Fit 2 is fueled by a 292mAh battery unit that can last up to 10 days on a single charge. It is available for purchase in China at Yuan 799 ($119).

Multiple color options are available to pick from namely Pomelo Red, Distilled Blue, Sakura Pink, and Graphite Black. Its introductory offer includes a Huawei Mini speaker for free with the purchase of the watch.

Huawei Watch Fit, a fitness tracker from the Chinese company which was first launched last year, has been updated when the company launched its successor, dubbed as Huawei Watch Fit New. Recently, it was revealed that the device will soon debut in India.

Now, Amazon India has published a landing page that confirms the imminent launch of the Huawei Watch Fit New in the country. This also indicates that the wearable device will be exclusively available through the online marketplace Amazon.

The Huawei Watch Fit New will be offered in four color options in India — Distilled Blue, Graphite Black, Pomelo Red, and Sakura Pink. As of now, the pricing and availability details of the wearable product for the Indian market aren’t known.

We expect the device to be similar to the model launched in China. Like most electric devices, there are few options of smart wearable that really cares female users with fine design and exclusive features beyond tech things. But recently a latest HUAWEI smart watch caught my eyes, the HUAWEI Watch Fit Elegant Edition. As a female user, it’s my pleasure to give you a picture how the watch performs from a female perspective, after seeing most review works were done by non-female peers.

Design

The very first good detail of the Watch Fit is the rectangular 2.5D curved display. And it truly means that the dial is curved with a beautiful arc to fit the surface of my wrist, which smartly makes it not to bump up too much over your wrist. Personally, a big display is really not necessary as it is unavoidable to have a bigger size of dial. It generally looks strange when those full-size wearables occur to my thin wrist. Wearing the Watch Fit (1.64-inch display) I didn’t have this concern. The Watch Fit (size: 46mm×30mm×10.7mm; weight: 27g) is lighter and thinner than most full-function smartwatches that I’ve ever tried.

The included off-white strap with the polished golden watch frame looks pretty stylish for female users. And more importantly, it didn’t make me spend much time again thinking about how to match my clothes with a smart wearable. Casual, formal or sports dress with this watch is very suitable, and it wouldn’t be abrupt or even too distracting.

Water-proofness

Another feature that saved my life is the so called 5ATM water-proofness. The official explanation says the watch could be used for shallow-water activities like swimming. For me, it’s a greatly release that I didn’t need to take down the watch as I’m cooking at home, where I relied much on the watch features like timer and stopwatch. The dial didn’t leave a little water stain after drenching.

Sports & Health tracking

At the beginning, I thought like the other watches, it would provide the similar sports modes with good sport data collection and display. However, it offers more than what I expected. Besides the 96 workout modes with reliable sport tracking, it can work like a private trainer by offering 12 kinds of animated fitness courses (Exercise at Work, Neck & shoulder Relaxation, Burn Fat Fast, etc.) these animated courses includes 44 standard movement demonstrations which perfectly guides your workout without any equipment.

And the other lasted wearable fitness trackers like the build-in GPS sensor, all-time heartrate monitoring and Blood oxygen saturation monitoring are all included in the Watch Fit. Furthermore, it’s so warm that the watch features a Period-cycle tracking specially for female users. With this feature on, the watch kept tracking the cycle and estimated ovulation date for me, and sent me reminders to let me know the special days coming. I’ve used several phone APPs that have the similar functions, but a wearable product is definitely more convenient to keep me better informed.

Battery

By far I’m satisfied with its battery standby. With almost all important functions on, the watch has lasted for one week without charging. HUAWEI officially claimed it can last for 10 days and can collect back the power for a whole day with only a 5-minute fast charge. The official claim sounds good but I didn’t really care much about it since I only required it to give me a continuous use for the whole week.

Conclusion

I used to complain with my friends about why most tech-thing producers do not seriously think about forms and functions of their products from the perspective of women. But now it seems someone is reviewing their products seriously. The HUAWEI Watch Fit is likely to be the first few products thinking about it seriously.

The new technology is not necessary to come with some kinds of ‘technological sense’, but more importantly, when transforming it into products for all human uses, I think it should be more humane and warmer. Fortunately, at least on the Watch Fit, I saw their efforts.

Now, an image of the Huawei Watch Fit Elegant Edition has leaked online, showcasing its design and revealing some information about the upcoming wearable device.

It appears that the smartwatch will be adopting a metal middle frame design. Further, the strap has been replaced from Silicon Rubber to Fluorine Rubber, making it comfortable for the skin. Because of the metal frame, the weight has been increased to 27 grams.

Recently, a Chinese tipster known for Huawei leaks had claimed that Huawei will announce the Nova 8 and Nova 8 Pro smartphones in China on Dec. 23. Today, another well-known leakster from China posted on Weibo that Huawei will not only launch Nova 8 series smartphones but also other products on the said date.

In November, Huawei unveiled the Huawei Nova 8 SE in Dimensity 720 and Dimensity 800U chipset variants. It is unclear which chipsets will be powering the Nova 8 and 8 Pro smartphones. The new leak reveals that the company will also take off covers from the Huawei Enjoy 20 SE smartphone and the Huawei Watch Fit.

The Huawei Nova 8 and Nova 8 Pro are speculated to sport a dual punch-hole display design. Both phones are expected to sport high refresh rates. These phones arrive with respective starting prices of 3,000 Yuan (~$459) and 4,000 Yuan (~$611).

Nothing much is known about the Huawei Enjoy 20 SE smartphone. The moniker suggests that it will be positioned lower than the Dimensity 720 powered Enjoy 20 5G.

While the company launched the Huawei Watch Fit globally in September, it is yet to be land in the home market. Hence, it appears that the same Watch Fit may land in China on Dec. 23 along with other products. The key features of the Watch Fit include a 1.54-inch AMOLED display, 10-day battery life, and 12 kinds of workout modes. The Watch Fit bears resemblance to the Honor Watch ES, but the major difference between the two is that the Huawei model has built-in GPS.

Apple launched its new smartwatch lineup and, for the first time, it contains an affordable variant: the Apple Watch SE. Given its affordable price, the new wearable will compete with several other devices from other manufacturers. My favorite design belongs to the OPPO Watch (especially in its 41 mm version because it is more compact): it has a curved display and it is very elegant. On the other hand, Huawei Watch Fit is the most original one with its rectangle-shaped display. But the silver medal when it comes to the look goes to the Apple Watch SE: it is similar to the OPPO Watch, but it has a flat display. Someone may prefer the Watch SE due to the presence of a crown instead of physical keys: it is a matter of tastes. In each case, you get a waterproof design with water resistance up to 5 ATM.

Display

Besides getting a very elegant design, with the OPPO Watch, you also get an amazing display. In its 46 mm version, the smartwatch comes with a wide 1.91-inch panel with 100 percent DCI P3 coverage and a high resolution of 402 x 476 pixels. Even the Apple Watch SE has a great display with its 1000 nits peak brightness and Retina LTPO OLED technology. Huawei Watch Fit has an inferior display to the OPPO Watch and the  Watch SE in terms of image quality, but it has a very interesting rectangle-shaped form factor that improves usability.

The OPPO Watch has the most powerful chipset and 1 GB of RAM, while the Apple Watch SE has the highest amount of internal storage (32 GB). Huawei Watch Fit has the weakest hardware department and it does not need powerful hardware because it comes with a proprietary OS. OPPO Watch runs Wear OS based on Android, while Watch SE has watchOS. In terms of features, OPPO Watch and Apple Watch SE are actually better: the former is better if paired with Android devices, while the latter is better with iPhones. OPPO Watch and Apple Watch SE have several preinstalled applications and you can download more through the official stores. Huawei Watch Fit has a proprietary OS and it is inferior to its rivals in terms of features, but it supports more sports mode and it is a better smartwatch for sports lovers. If sport is not your only priority, then you should choose either OPPO Watch or Apple Watch SE.

Sensors and connectivity

As mentioned above, Huawei Watch Fit is a better smartwatch for sports not only for its higher amount of sports modes but also because it has the SpO2 sensor. On the other hand, OPPO Watch and Apple Watch SE offer very accurate measurements, but they lack SpO2 tracking. With all of these smartwatches, you get a GPS module, but only the Apple Watch SE and OPPO Watch have cellular connectivity. Note that cellular connectivity is optional on the Watch SE and the OPPO Watch: you have to buy a more expensive variant in order to get it.

Huawei Watch Fit is the king of battery life as it lasts up to 10 days on a single charge. With the OPPO Watch and the Apple Watch SE, you can only get one day of battery life.

OPPO Watch 41 mm is priced at €249/$300 in the global market (the price varies depending on the market), while Apple Watch SE costs €309/$279 in its base 40 mm variant. For the Huawei Watch Fit, you need just €129,90/$150. For everything but sports, OPPO Watch and Apple Watch SE are better wearable devices than Huawei Watch Fit. Huawei sees Japan as one of its important territories as it recently got more supplies from the country amidst a tussle with the US. Although its own products are limited in Japan, the company is looking to launch two new Huawei Smartwatches in the country next month.

A report from Nikkei says two new Smartwatches will be Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro and the Huawei Watch Fit. In fact, the company has already launched the Watch GT 2 in Japan back in November. The report adds that two versions of Huawei’s GT 2 Pro, and Watch Fit will retail for 30,000($285) and 13,800($131) Japanese Yen respectively.

In a conference, Huawei is quoted highlighting the seamless integration and ability of Watch GT 2 Pro. Apparently, he highlighted its ability to convert images from a Huawei phone to its wallpaper seamlessly.

Will Huawei retain its Smartwatch segment in Japan?

However, Huawei has only a handful of Smartphones in Japan to succeed in its 1+8+N strategy. Nikkei’s report says it had only 5% of the Smartphone share in Japan as of 2019 according to Euromonitor Intl. With the US restricting Huawei more in 2020, that hasn’t improved a lot. Also, it hasn’t launched many of its 5G outside of China after the USA ban let alone Japan.

In spite of all this, its Smartwatch market share has remained healthy at 15.6% as of Q2 2020 as per an IDC report. This could due to the value-for-money features they offer for the price. Hence, it might play the trick of launching new Smartwatches in a bid to maintain a healthy position second to Apple. That being said, it will be interesting to see how Japan welcomes the new Smartwatches considering Huawei’s products lack GMS(Google Mobile Services) as well.

Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro and Watch Fit Specifications

Huawei’s Watch GT 2 Pro has a 1.39-inch 454×454 AMOLED rounded display with scratch-resistant glass, titanium body, and ceramic underside. It has two versions- Classic, Sport. There are more than 100 workout modes, many watch faces to choose from. Other features include Kirin A1 SoC, 4GB RAM, Huawei Lite OS, offline navigator, SpO2 and heart-rate monitor, GPS, NFC, and 14-days battery life.

Huawei recently launched the budget Watch Fit in the UAE. It has a squircle 1.64-inch 280×456 AMOLED display. The Smartwatch features GPS, SpO2 and heart-rate sensor, 6-axis IMU sensor, 11-sport modes, 10 days of battery life.

Huawei is now taking orders for the Watch Fit and pre-orders for the Watch GT 2 Pro and the FreeBuds Pro in Germany. All three wearables were announced in Europe earlier this week. According to the order pages, those who order/pre-order these items will get a free Huawei Body Fat Scale with their orders.

The Huawei Watch Fit is priced at €129 and is available in Graphite Black, Mint Green, Cantaloupe Orange, and Sakura Pink. Along with your order, you get the free smart scale which is worth €69.99. That sure is a better gift when compared to the pre-order bundle of the Honor Watch ES which is available for a discounted price of €79.99 (original price is €99.99) and includes a free pair of Bluetooth earphones.

Huawei says if you throw in the FreeBuds 3i with your order, you get it for a discounted price of €49.9 instead of €99.

Those who pre-order the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro (available in Night Black and Nebula Gray) or FreeBuds Pro (available in Ceramic White, Silver Frost, and Carbon Black) also get a free Huawei Body Fat Scale with their orders. If you pre-order both, that means you should get two smart scales (I’ll advise you to pre-order them separately). The Watch GT 2 Pro and FreeBuds Pro are both discounted to €299 and €179 respectively when you pre-order.

Unlike the Huawei Watch Fit which seems to be shipping out immediately, the Watch GT 2 Pro and FreeBuds 3 Pro won’t ship until October 3rd. It also appears the free scale will only be available for orders made between now and the 2nd of October.

At the Huawei AI Life Product launch today in Europe, the Chinese giant announced two new watches. The first is the luxury Watch GT 2 Pro which boasts some significant upgrades over its predecessors and there is the Watch Fit that was announced in the Middle East a few weeks ago.

Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro

The Watch GT 2 Pro is a premium watch and that shows in the type of materials used. The 1.39-inch 454 x454 AMOLED display is covered in scratch-resistant sapphire glass, the body is made from titanium, and the underside is ceramic.

While there are multiple watch faces to choose from, there are some notable ones such as the Starry Sky Watch Face that show the moon phase. Another feature Huawei announced for the watch is OneHop Watch Face. This feature allows you to take a picture with your phone and use it as a watch face just by touching the phone (Huawei models with NFC and running EMUI 11+) against the dial of the watch and you have a new watch face.

The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro is available in two variants – Classic and Sport. There are more than 100 workout modes including professional ones such as Golf Driving Range mode and Skiing and Snowboarding mode that show info such as slope and elevation.

Another feature is an offline navigator with a route back mode. Health isn’t left out either as the watch has a stress monitor, sleep tracking, SpO2 monitor, and a heart rate monitor that alerts you when it detects an abnormal heart rate.

The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro boasts a 14-day battery life in typical usage. It will last 30 hours with GPS enabled and can also provide up to 24 hours of playback on a single charge. One of the major additions to the watch is support for wireless charge and a 5-minute charge will provide up to 10 hours of usage.

The new smartwatch also has support for smart watch apps that bring additional features. There is less than 4GB of storage available, so we don’t expect the watch to be able to take more than a few apps. You can also accept calls with the watch when paired with your phone as it has a built-in microphone and speaker.

The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro will go on sale this month. The Sport version will sell for €329 while the Classic version will sell for €349. You will be able to choose between Night Black and Nebula Gray color options.

The Huawei Watch Fit which was announced a few weeks ago in the Middle East has also received a launch in Europe. The watch which has a 10-day battery life and has built-in animated workouts will sell for €129 and will go on sale later this month.

The Honor Watch ES was announced at IFA 2020 yesterday. A lot of you already know that this is Honor’s version of the Huawei Watch Fit which launched about a week earlier. However, while both watches are near identical and also share several features, there is a key difference between them that you should know in case you plan to purchase any of the two.

While one of the visual differences between the Huawei Watch Fit and the Honor Watch ES includes a red accent on the home button of the latter, a more important difference is under the hood.

This key difference is GPS. The Huawei Watch Fit has built-in GPS which is important for outdoor runs. However, the cheaper Honor Watch ES has connected GPS. What this means is that Honor’s own watch needs to connect to your phone to get location data.

The lack of GPS on the Honor Watch ES should explain why it costs less at €99.99 than the Huawei Watch Fit that launched for AED 399 and has been reported will cost €119 when it lands in Europe.

If having built-in GPS is a must for you, then you may want to pick up the Huawei Watch Fit. But if you don’t mind taking your phone along with you while running, then you can save some money with Honor’s own watch.

Another difference that you should know is the number of workouts supported. The Honor Watch ES supports 10 professional workout modes and 85 customized training modes for a total of 95 while the Huawei Watch Fit has 11 professional workout modes and 85 custom training modes for a total of 96 workout modes. Unfortunately, neither Huawei nor Honor has provided a list of the supported professional modes, so we can’t narrow down the missing sports mode.

The two smartwatches have built-in storage for storing files you can listen to while working out. They also both have a SpO2 monitor, stress measurement, animated workout courses, and can track menstrual cycles.

Honor has confirmed that it has a new smartwatch on the way. The wearable will launch as the Honor Watch GS Pro on September 4 at IFA 2020. However, that isn’t the only smartwatch we should expect from the Huawei-owned company.

The president of Honor, George Zhao, asked on Weibo a few days ago if folks prefer round dials or square dials. The top executive’s post is actually a quote of another post that was made by the official Honor Life Weibo account. This original post includes a long image, part of which we have cut out and added below.

As you can see, the image shows two hands holding each other. On one wrist is a watch with a round dial and on the other wrist is a watch with a square/rectangular dial. The latter has a display similar to that of the recently announced Huawei Watch Fit.

Honor doesn’t have a watch with that design and we want to believe it is teasing the arrival of its first watch with a square dial. However, it will most likely be Honor’s version of the Huawei Watch Fit. This is not the first time Honor will launch a product similar to that announced by its parent company. And as is the tradition, Honor’s version usually costs less.

The Huawei Watch Fit has a 1.64-inch 280 x 456 AMOLED display with a 70% screen-to-body ratio. There are lots of customizable watch faces including AOD ones. The watch has 12 animated exercises built-in and can track up to 11 different sports. There is also a custom workout mode. The watch also has GPS, a heart rate sensor, sleep tracking, SpO2 detection, and menstrual cycle tracking. Huawei claims its new watch has a battery life of 10 days with typical usage and has put a price tag of 399 AED (~$110) on it.

Huawei is in good stead in the wearable market, recording a YoY growth of over 57% in the first half of 2020.  The Chinese tech giant is looking to expand its market share with the launchof a new smartwatch dubbed Huawei Watch Fit.

The Watch Fit has been in the news for quite a while but the company has finally taken the wraps off the product with the launch in the UAE.

The Huawei Watch Fit features a 1.64-inch AMOLED display with 2.5D curved glass on top. The watch has an HD reolution of 280 x 456 pixels, 326PPI and 70% screen to body ratio. The display supports full-screen input. The watch has a dimension of 46 x 30 x 10.7mm.

At the left side, there is a single button which acts as power button and to wake up the device. The watch equally comes with support for six new Always-on Display watch faces that will show information even when your watch is inactive.

Huawei Watch Fit brings along 12 kinds of animated quick-workout such as exercise at work, full-body stretch, ab ripper and includes 44 standard movement demonstrations. Further, it has on board a cool 96 workout modes, including 11 sports modes such as running, swimming, and cycling. The custom workout mode allows you to vary your workout from yoga to other intense training.

The smartwatch also features a built-in GPS sensor, 5ATM water protection, AI heart rate algorithm, and new sensors that help you train better by providing real-time metrics, scientific training effect evaluation, and guidance. The smartwatch also comes with 6-axis IMU sensor (Accelerometer sensor, Gyroscope sensor), Optical heart rate sensor, capacitive sensor and ambient light sensor.

You also get access to Huawei’s health app to keep track of your fitness data. Other features onboard includes 24-hour heart rate monitoring, SpO2 blood oxygen saturation detection, menstruation cycle trackers, Huawei TruSleep 2.0 for better sleep tracking, and TruRelax to keep track of your stress meter. Others are reminders for SMS messages, incoming calls, calendar events, and other social media Apps. Also, it comes with all necessary apps and widgets to take better control over music playback, snap a photo, find your phone, as well as other features such as Weather, Alarm, Timer, Stopwatch, and a flashlight.

As for the battery life, the Huawei Watch Fit boasts of up to 10 days of battery life which comes down to 7 days in heavy usage and 12 hours in GPS mode.

The Huawei Watch Fit will go on sale in the UAE from September 3 and is priced at 399AED ($110). There is no official word yet as to when it will be available in other countries and regions.

Before we delve into the products, the date of the event is also the same date the Huawei Developer Conference 2020 is scheduled to start, so there is a possibility the products will be announced at the conference.

As seen in the poster shared on Twitter by @RODENT950, there are three images which we think are hints for the new products. The first is a notebook with a X, the second is a watch dial, and the third is a sound wave. We believe the first hints at a new Huawei MateBook X. Yes, we know Huawei just announced the MateBook X 2020 last week but that model is available with Intel processors. Knowing Huawei, there is most likely going to be a Ryzen version too which we believe will be announced on September 10.

The second is a watch dial and is a teaser for a smartwatch. Huawei has two new smartwatches in the pipeline – there is the Huawei Watch Fit and there is the Watch GT 2 Pro. Earlier reports have revealed the former will be announced in September while the latter will launch alongside the Mate 40 series. Sepetember 10 does sound like a good date for the Watch Fit to be unveiled.

The third image, which is of a soundwave, hints at the launch of a new audio product, most likely a speaker with a built-in assistant. There is also a chance it may be a proper launch for the FreeGo Portable Bluetooth Speaker that was first unveiled in June.

A new smartwatch has recently been certified by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. The watch should launch under the Huawei brand but the model number is different from those we already know.

The watch has model number TIA-B09 which is different from the model numbers of that of the upcoming Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro (VID-B19) and that of the Honor Watch GS Pro (KAN-B19).

Huawei trademarked the “Mate Watch” this year and the smartwatch was rumored to launch alongside the Mate 40 series, but there is a chance it may not be announced this year. So which smartwatch is this? There is a high chance that this is the Huawei Watch Fit that leaked a few weeks ago.

The Huawei Watch Fit doesn’t have a round display like Huawei’s other smartwatches. It also doesn’t have a square display but a rectangular one but in portrait and not landscape.

The display is a 1.64-inch AMOLED panel with a 456 x 280 resolution and it is surrounded by a frame which we hope is metal with a silver, gray, or gold finish. The watch faces shown in the render have a simple design but we hope there are others rather than just one with different colors.

There is a single pill-shaped button on the side of the watch along with a hole at the top. We are not sure if that hole is a microphone but if it is one, then the Huawei Watch Fit may have a built-in assistant. The smartwatch is shown in four colorways – green, black/gray, orange, and beige, all with silicone straps.

Huawei Watch Fit Specs

According to the leaker, the Huawei Watch Fit has a 5 ATM water resistance rating. It has a heart rate monitor, accelerometer, ambient light, built-in GPS, and a barometer. It can track the following activities – walking, running, swimming, and cycling (indoor and outdoor). It also has sleep tracking, stress test, and breathing exercises.

The battery life of the watch is said to be up to 10 days but the capacity wasn’t stated. We presume the battery life will be longer in basic watch mode. The smartwatch will work with both iOS and Android devices running Android 5.0+ and iOS 9.0+ respectively.

Huawei Watch Fit Price

The Huawei Watch Fit will sell for €119 and will be announced in September. The retail box will contain the watch itself, a charging station, cable, and a quick start guide.

The upcoming Mate40 series has been confirmed to be the last Huawei smartphone to feature HiSilicon Kirin chipset for the time being. But the company is still working on a number of products including three smartphones, a foldable, a TWS, and a smartwatch.

The information regarding the existence of these products comes from popular leakster Evan Blass aka @eveleaks on Twitter. Unfortunately, he did not reveal anything but the codenames and they are as listed below.

That’s not all, Ross Young, the founder and lead research of DSSC and DisplaySearch revealed further details about the Mate X2 in a reply to Evan’s tweet.

According to him, the upcoming Huawei foldable smartphone will feature an inward folding display just like Samsung Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Fold 2. Also, he mentioned that the Chinese telecom giant will be sourcing panels from Samsung Display and BOE, however, it will lack UTG (Ultra Thin Glass), which is kind of a bummer.

Anyway, if this smartphone ever releases, then it will be the first non-Samsung foldable to come with Samsung Display panel.
