Huawei continues its resurgence in the extended tech market by releasing two smart wearable devices that offer some wonderful upgrades from their predecessors. Today, the Chinese tech giant has released the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro ECG and the Band 6 Pro smartwatches today. The launch is coming on the heels of several releases, including its new generation smart speaker and smart screen and the P50 series.

The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro ECG and the Huawei Band 6 Pro are improved versions of their predecessors, the Watch GT 2 and the Band 6. The Watch GT 2 Pro ECG comes with a sensor that takes electrocardiogram measurements, and the Band 6 Pro has a body temperature sensor. In addition to the ECG heart measurements, the Watch GT 2 Pro ECG also retained the sensors present in its predecessor like blood oxygen monitoring, heart rate tracking, sleep, and stress levels indicators. It features a 1.39-inch AMOLED display, 100 workout modes and comes with Huawei’s Lite OS. The Watch GT 2 Pro ECG has Sapphite crystal-infused glass protection and a titanium frame.

The Huawei Band 6 Pro sports a bigger 1.47-inch AMOLED display and the same sensors as the Watch GT 2 Pro, except that the ECG sensor is absent in the Band 6 Pro, replaced by a body temperature sensor. The Band 6 Pro has up to 96 workout modes. It also has a 14-day battery life on a full charge and moderate usage.

Pricing and local availability information have also been made public. The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro ECG will be available from August 12, and it will sell at CNY 3,088 ($478), while the Band 6 Pro will sell at CNY 449 ($70) when sales begin on August 20. The pricier Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro comes in a single color variant – black.

The year is almost over but Chinese manufacturers are not done announcing new products. Next week, a few products will be launching, some of which we expect to get to the hands of buyers before the month ends.

On Monday, Huawei kicks off the stream of launches with a smart screen. The new smart screen is practically a smart TV with more advanced features, most of which work with other Huawei devices. It is expected to be the first to run Harmony OS 2.0 out of the box with new features such as multi-tasking.

Huawei will also announce the Watch GT 2 Pro ECG version in China on that day. The smartwatch is already available for pre-order in China

On Tuesday, Hisense will announce the first e-reader smartphone with support for 5G. If you want a phone with an e-ink display, then you don’t want to miss the launch of this new device.

On the 23rd of December, Huawei will return for the launch of new smartphones – the Nova 8 and Nova 8 Pro. The new smartphones will expand the Nova 8 series which began with the Nova 8 SE that was launched in early November. The new phones will come with a new design, Kirin processors, and displays with a hole punch. Huawei is also expected to announce another phone, the Enjoy 20 SE, but it has not yet confirmed the launch.

On the same day but in India, realme will announce three new products. The highlight of the launch is the realme Watch S Pro, a smartwatch with a round AMOLED display, support for 15 sports modes, and GPS. The standard realme Watch S which already launched in other markets will also be announced on that day.

The other product that will be unveiled is the realme Buds Air Pro Master Edition. This is a version of the Buds Air Pro announced back at IFA 2020 but with a new color and premium finish.

Fans of Huawei have a lot to look up to in the next few months as a lot of details regarding their plans have surfaced. The leak mentions upcoming products that include phones and smart displays and when they are expected to arrive.

The source of the leak is Teme (@RODENT950) and he begins with the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro ECG which is expected to launch on December 12. According to him, the smartwatch will go on sale on December 21, this is the same date Huawei says the standard Mate 40 will go on sale too. That is nearly two weeks after it would have been announced. It has been reported that the ECG version will sell for ¥2688 (~$410) when it launches. While he didn’t say, we believe the ECG version of the watch will get a global release next year.

To round off the year, Huawei is also expected to announce a new smart screen too. There are also some other products that should launch and one of them may be the smart display that leaked last month. While Huawei has announced a few smart speakers, it is yet to announce a smart display.

A second tweet says that the smart screen will launch with a new version of HarmonyOS designed for large displays. There is also mention of the Nova 8 series which may launch this year or might be moved to January like the Honor V40 series.

The tweet also mentions the Mate X2 foldable phone but there is no launch date yet, however, MWC 2021 does seem like a possible time for it to launch. Huawei announced its second foldable device, the Mate Xs back in February, so MWC (Shanghai) 2021 does seem like a plausible time for the Mate X2 to launch. For those who don’t know, the GSMA announced a reshuffle of its events a few months ago. The new calendar puts MWC Shanghai in the first half of the year (February 23 – February 25 next year) while MWC Barcelona will be held between June 28 and July 1.

In March, Huawei will announce the P50 series which is expected to bring new features. Unfortunately, as excited as the phones may be, the flagships will suffer from availability issues just like the Mate 40 series. The Huawei P50 series will run EMUI 11.1 based on Android 11 out of the box.

He also mentions that Huawei will unveil its next-gen flagship tablet, the MatePad Pro 2 later in Spring. The new tablet should come with a new chipset and be available in Wi-Fi and 5G variants.

These dates are unconfirmed and even though the leaker has a good track record, dates can change, so take the info with a pinch of salt.

Huawei has recently launched a few devices in the market and the company has planned another product which will reportedly go on sale from 12th December in China. The product is said to be a smartwatch — Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro with support for ECG.

With the addition of the ECG feature, the device will be an upgrade over the Watch GT 2 Pro which was launched last month in China. It is said that the wearable device could be priced around 2,688 yuan, which is roughly $409.

Huawei has said that the Watch GT 2 Pro ECG is the company’s first wearable device that has obtained the National Medical Products Administration’s Class II medical device registration certificate. Also, users can also get professional ECG interpretation reports from the top three hospitals in the country.

We expect all the other specs and features on the smartwatch to remain the same as the model launched last month. The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro has a 1.39-inch 454 x 454 AMOLED display that is protected by scratch-resistant Sapphire Glass.

The watch can track more than 100 sport modes including golf, skiing, and snowboarding with detailed info. It also has 4GB of built-in storage. It has a built-in GPS with a route back feature in case the GPS signal is low and you need to return to your starting point.

It also comes with support for sleep tracking, 24-hour heart rate monitoring, as well as stress monitoring. A couple of weeks ago, it received a new update which introduced support for 24×7 blood oxygen monitoring (SpO2).

This year, Huawei took a different approach for its Watch GT series. Instead of announcing the Huawei Watch GT 3, it decided to launch the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro. Now, it appears the Watch GT 2 lineup is about to get bigger with a new model that should arrive as the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro ECG.

ECG is a feature that we have been seeing on more smartwatches lately. From the OPPO Watch ECG version to the Galaxy Watch3 to the Apple Watch Series 6, and now Huawei’s own Watch GT 2 Pro will be joining the list.

The info comes from Teme (@RODENT950), the leaker known for Huawei-related leaks. He posted a tweet earlier today mentioning all the models of the Watch GT 2 series and included in the list is the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro ECG which is yet to launch.

We are not sure when Huawei will announce this new model but it should not be far off. We won’t be surprised if it launches at the Mate 40 series event on October 22.

The list also includes the yet-to-be-announced Huawei Watch GT 2 Porsche Design that leaked last month and a Fashion variant of the Watch GT 2 Pro which is currently available in Sport and Classic variants.
