<p>According to the Chinese Intellectual Property Database, the patent is titled &#8220;Sports Gesture <span class="accentTextColor">Recognition Method, Terminal Equipment and Storage Media&#8221;, has a </span>publication number of CN113509173A, and was filed back in April 2020 in China (via <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/581/712.htm">IT Home</a>).</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-420584 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/huawei-sports-posture-correction-patent-1024x877.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei sports posture correction patent" width="696" height="596" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/huawei-sports-posture-correction-patent-1024x877.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/huawei-sports-posture-correction-patent-300x257.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/huawei-sports-posture-correction-patent-768x658.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/huawei-sports-posture-correction-patent-696x596.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/huawei-sports-posture-correction-patent-1068x915.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/huawei-sports-posture-correction-patent-490x420.jpg 490w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/huawei-sports-posture-correction-patent.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>The feature works by collecting real-time motion data from the accelerometer built into a device. This helps it recognize the motion state of the athlete through the motion data or auxiliary data and analyze it for any incorrect motion postures.</p>
<p>The patent technology aims to provide adequate info to athletes to make them avoid wrong movements. A wearable with this function will be able to not only detect wrong moves but also notify through an alarm or other means about it. It will encourage professionalism in players during workouts and reduce the chances of injuries.</p>

<p data-vmark="667b">Huawei has already launched a number of smartwatches that have seen quite some success including <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/13/huawei-watch-gt-2-pro-moon-phase-collection-launched-india/">Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-watch-gt-2-porsche-design/">Huawei Watch GT 2</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/14/huawei-watch-gt-2e-launched-in-india-costs-less-than-in-china/">Huawei Watch GT 2e</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/18/huawei-watch-3-gets-better-than-ever-with-latest-harmonyos-update/">Huawei Watch 3</a>.</p>
<p data-vmark="667b">It is unclear if the sports posture correction feature will be making it to any of the Huawei watches given above through an update, or whether it will be shipped with a new smartwatch.</p>
