The UMIDIGI S2 and S2 Pro are set to go on sale later this month in China. However, if you are in Berlin, you may have come across both phones but under a different name.

Popular leaker, Roland Quandt, who is attending this year’s edition of IFA tweeted about two new phones he came across at the event- the NOA N8 and NOA N8 Pro, “made” by a company from Hungary called Hangar 18.

Initially fascinated by the specs and the warranty protection, a follow-up tweet revealed that he has realized that they are actually rebranded phones. Take a good look at the phones and you will realize they share a striking resemblance to the UMIDIGI S2 and S2 Pro.

We decided to visit the official website and found out that the NOA N8 and N8 Pro are not the only rebranded phones from the new company. Another phone, the NOA Element H10le is actually a rebranded UMIDIGI Z1 Pro (or Ulefone Gemini Pro).

Now, we are not saying rebranding phones is wrong. There are quite a number of manufacturers that do that. One example that comes to mind is American smartphone company BLU.

The UMIDIGI S2 and S2 Pro may likely never make it to Europe and even if it does, it will be via third party sellers. The disadvantage that comes with importing phones through resellers is that owners are usually responsible for repairs as it is usually too expensive to ship it back to the manufacturer for repair or to claim warranties.

However, if a company based in Europe or any other market for that matter, where the phone isn’t sold decides to sell the phone under a new name while offering repairs too, that doesn’t seem like a bad idea.

So if you live in Europe and have been looking forward to the UMIDIGI S2 or the S2 Pro, you may want to keep an eye on the NOA N8 and N8 Pro. Unfortunately, both phones won’t hit markets till Q1 2018.

NOA N8 and NOA N8 Pro Specs

Both devices have a 5.9-inch 18:9 display but the resolution is 720p on the N8 and 1080p on the pro version. The N8 is powered by a Helio P10 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It has a 16MP front facing camera and a 13MP + 5MP dual combo on the rear. Below the camera setup on the back is a fingerprint scanner.

The N8 runs Android Nougat, has a 4950mAh battery, a USB type-C port and dual SIM slots (micro). There is Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, GPS and a bunch of sensors. It will be available in red and black and cost 220 Euros ($262).

The N8 Pro swaps the Helio P10 for a Helio P25. RAM is 6GB and storage is doubled to 128GB. It has a 5000mAh battery and a USB Type-C 3.1 port. The rest of the specs are the same as the base model. It will also be available in red and black and cost 260 Euros ($309).

The icing on the cake is the cover-all warranty. Hangar 18 says they will repair or replace the phone for 2 years without asking any questions. That includes broken screens, liquid spills, theft by burglary, natural disasters or any other thing you can think of.

Huawei has already confirmed that it will be holding a launch event on Sept. 2. The official invitation contains a hashtag #HuaweiMobileAI. Rumors have revealed that the Kirin 970 chipset integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be announced on the coming Saturday. The official details of the Kirin 970 chipset are not available yet, but the some of the details of the SoC have been already spotted at the IFA 2017. The details are quite similar to the leaked information of the Kirin 970 chipset that was recently shared by popular leakster, Roland Quandt.

First of all, Huawei’s new in-house chipset, the Kirin 970 that is developed by HiSilicon is manufactured by TSMC using its 10nm process. Some of the features of this octa-core processor are 12-core graphics, dual-SIP and Category 18 LTE modem. Since it is equipped with dedicated neural network silicon, the chipset is dubbed as Neural Processing Unit (NPU). It is expected to power the upcoming Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro smartphones.

The USP of the Kirin 970 is that it is integrated with an exclusive computing unit for AI. As far as performance of AI is concerned, the Kirin 970 is expected to produce 25 times better performance than similar processor based AI and is also pegged to be 50 times more power efficient. The smartphones that will be driven by Kirin 970 will be able to offer various kinds of AI features such as image recognition, interaction through voice and intelligent photo shooting.

The internal specs of the chipset are still under the wraps as it will be fully disclosed during the upcoming launch event. A snapshot that has surfaced from the floor of the IFA 2017 has revealed that Kirin 970 would be featuring four cores of Cortex A73 running at 2.4 GHz and four cores of Cortex A53 clocking at 1.8 GHz. The octa-core processor will be coupled with Mali-G72 MP12 graphics. It is the most recent graphics from ARM. The dual ISP will offer features like motion detection and low light enhancement.

It will support HDR 10, 4K video decoding at 60 fps and 4K video encoding at 30 fps. The Cat. 18 LTE modem will support download speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps. It will be also coming with TEE and inSE security engines.

Huawei has scheduled October 16 as the day it announces its flagship phone, the Mate 10. The Mate 10 has been confirmed by one of the company’s executives to be powered by the Kirin 970, its latest flagship processor.

One of the key features of the Kirin 970 is that it is the first processor to feature an integrated Artificial Intelligence processing unit. This info was confirmed by Yu Chengdong, another of the company’s top executives.

Huawei’s president of smartphone division, He Gang, has taken to Weibo in the past few days to announce that Huawei’s new Mobile AI will be unveiled at IFA Berlin 2017. Since the AI processing unit is integrated into the main chip, it is believed that the Kirin 970 itself will make an appearance.

We may also see the Huawei Mate 10 at the event on Saturday, however it won’t be a plain reveal. Last year, when the Kirin 960 was announced, there was a phone wrapped up in brown paper (excluding the screen) to serve as the prototype device for the new chip. To test the new AI processing unit, there has to be a prototype on site too. That device will most likely be the Huawei Mate 10 or Mate 10 Pro.

The Kirin 970 will be built on TSMC’s 10nm process. The octa-core chip will feature 4 x Cortex-A73 cores and 4 x Cortex-A53 cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.8 GHz. It will have a Mali-G72 GPU, Cat. 12 LTE and support for dual cameras. It is also said to be the world’s first pre-5G (4.5G) LTE chip.

Earlier this year, Sony had unveiled the Sony Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA Ultra smartphones that respectively features 5-inch and 6-inch displays. A Russian publication has revealed that Sony may unleash a new smartphone called Xperia XA1 Plus at the upcoming Sony IFA 2017 launch event on Aug. 31. The leaked renders of the smartphone have also appeared.

Since the rumored Xperia XA1 Plus is expected to arrive with a 5.5-inch display, this new handset will slot itself between Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra phones. The Xperia XA1 Plus is rumored to carry support for full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The MediaTek MT6757 chipset that is also known as Helio P20 along with 4 GB of RAM is speculated to power the Xperia XA1 Plus.

It will be arriving with a native storage of 32 GB and it is rumored to include a 3,430mAh battery. It is interesting to note that this battery would be one of the biggest that Sony has used in its smartphones. The 6-inch Xperia XA1 Ultra has a battery of 2,700mAh capacity and the 5.5-inch Xperia XZ Premium smartphone features a 3,230mAh battery.

The Xperia XA1 Plus may feature a 23-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing snapper of 8-megapixel. It may arrive preloaded with Android 7.0 Nougat OS and will be upgradeable to Android 8.0 Oreo. As of this writing, there is no information available on its pricing. Renders indicate that it would be coming in four colors like black, pink, gold and blue

Reports have revealed that Sony may announce at least 3 smartphones through its IFA 2017 event. Previous reports have revealed that the Japanese company would be launching flagship phones like Sony Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact at IFA 2017. However, there is no accurate information available on the third device.

The Xperia X1 with mid-range specs like 5-inch FHD display, Snapdragon 660 chipset, 4 GB of RAM and 2,800mAh battery could be the third Sony phone that may get unveiled at Sony IFA 2017. Sony will be holding its IFA 2017 event on Aug.31. The rumor mill has revealed that the Japanese company would be debuting the Sony Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact with flagship specs at the upcoming launch event. Reports have also revealed that the company may unveil Xperia X1 too at IFA 2017. It appears that it will be also unveiling a new phablet as a new device with model number G8541 has appeared on GFXBench benchmarking site.

The Sony G8541 has a 6.2-inch full HD display and it is driven by Snapdragon 835 chipset as the listing show the presence of Adreno 540 graphics along with 4 GB of RAM. The internal storage of the device is 128 GB and it is preinstalled with Android 8.0 Oreo that is overlaid with Sony’s own UI.

It features a rear camera of 19-megapixel that will carry support for 4K video recording. It could be the same Motion Eye sensor with 960 fps slow motion video shooting support that is available on Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZ smartphones. It has a selfie camera 12-megapixel that also supports 4K video shooting. Some of its other features include NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, gyroscope, accelerometer, barometer, proximity sensor and GPS.

Interestingly, the Sony G8541 listing includes another display variant of 12.3 inches which supports 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. It could either be a miscalculation or there is a possibility that Sony may release a tablet variant of the same device. Reports suggest that the G8541 could be a successor of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra phablet from 2013. Hence, the Sony G8541 is speculated to launch as Xperia XZ1 Ultra.  Other rumors suggest that it would be sporting a IP68 certified chassis.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ Compact are speculated to be powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. The Xperia XZ1 is expected to feature a 5.2-inch full HD screen and 3,000mAh battery whereas the XZ1 Compact is pegged to house a 4.6-inch HD screen and a 2,800mAh battery. Both smartphones are expected to arrive with 19-megapixel rear cameras and 12-megapixel front cameras. They are also preinstalled with Android 8.0 Oreo. The leaked renders of the Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact have been already revealed.

The Xperia XZ1 is speculated as the successor of the Xperia XZ and Xperia XZs smartphones. Well-known leakster @OnLeaks and CompareRaja have worked together reveal the alleged renders of the Xperia XZ1.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 renders suggest that it resembles a lot with Xperia XZs. It has a simple metal body design but comes with large bezels above and below the screen. The top left corner of the rear panel features the main camera. The large-sized LED flash sit horizontal to the camera. Its placement is similar to that of Xperia XZ Premium, but more towards the middle.

The bottom side of the Xperia XZ1 has a USB-C port whereas the topside features a 3.5mm audio jack. The right side of the smartphone features a Power button that may probably come embedded with a fingerprint reader. The volume controllers are also present on the right side along with a dedicated button for launching the camera. The left side of the Xperia XZ1 does not feature any button, but includes a microSD / SIM card slot.

The dimensions of the Sony Xperia XZ1 are 146.8 x 73.4 x 7.6mm which makes it slightly bigger than the Xperia XZs 146 x 72 x 8.1mm. Also, the new XZ1 is smaller than the predecessor phone. Like the Xperia XZs, the successor smartphone is expected to come with a 5.2-inch display. It is expected to support full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

Previous rumors revealed that the Sony Xperia XZ1 will be powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. It is expected to feature a 19-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel front-facing snapper. It is expected to arrive preinstalled with Android 8.0 and it is pegged to come with a 3,000mAh battery. Its model number has been revealed by the rumor mill as G8441 and it is also rumored to be available in dual-SIM version.

The Xperia XZ1 Compact with model number G8341 is also expected to come with similar specs. Rumors have revealed that a 4.6-inch HD display will be present on it. Its other specs include Snapdragon 835, 4 GB RAM, Android 8.0, 19-megapixel rear camera and 12-megapixel selfie snapper and 2,800mAh battery. A mid-range Xperia X1 featuring 5-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 835, 2,800mAh and same set of cameras is also expected to get unveiled on Aug. 31.

Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones are being released in various markets across the world. In January, a leaked slide had revealed that Nokia would be launching six to seven smartphones this year.  A Chinese leakster who holds a consistent track record about many leaks related to Nokia in the past has revealed that Nokia will be releasing 7 smartphones this year. Not only this, he has mentioned the list of 7 Nokia smartphones for 2017 along with the processor that will be powering each one of them.

The Nokia 6 that was unveiled first is powered by Snapdragon 430. Currently, it is selling well in the U.S.  The Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 that were unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. These phones are respectively powered by MediaTek MT6737 and Snapdragon 430. The remaining four smartphones that are slated to launch in the second half of 2017 are Nokia 2, Nokia 7, Nokia 8 and Nokia 9.

According to the Chinese leakster, Nokia 2 will be available in Snapdragon 212 and a MediaTek processor. It indicates that Nokia 2 will be an entry-level smartphone. Some of the regions will be receiving its Snapdragon edition whereas other regions will be getting its low-end MediaTek processor version.

The Nokia 7 will be driven by Snapdragon 630 chipset and the Nokia 8 would be a more powerful smartphone as the Snapdragon 660 chip will be giving power to it. Previous leaks have revealed that the Nokia 7 would be coming with a single rear camera but the Nokia 8 would be equipped with a dual rear camera system from Zeiss.

An unknown Nokia phone with that had appeared on AnTuTu with Snapdragon 660 could be the Nokia 8 smartphone. The AnTuTu listing revealed that it would be equipped with a 2K screen, 6 GB of RAM, a native storage of 64 GB, a pair 12-megapxiel rear camera sensors and Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The Nokia 7 may feature a full HD display.

The leakster has revealed that the Nokia 9 is powered by Snapdragon 835 which suggests that it is indeed the much-awaited flagship phone from the Finnish brand. Nokia 9 is expected to come with a 5.3-inch QHD display, 13-megapixel dual rear cameras, and 8 GB RAM and it is expected to be launch with a price tag of $699.

Nokia has confirmed that it won’t be releasing any Nokia Android tablets this year. Also, there won’t be any Nokia 4 smartphone as the number 4 is a bad omen in various countries. The Nokia 9, Nokia 8, Nokia 7 and Nokia are expected to debut at IFA 2017.

The rumor mill has revealed plenty of information on the specifications and features of the LG V30. In the previous month, a South Korean publication had revealed that LG would be launching the V30 flagship phone on Aug. 31. Today, Evan Blass, the well-known tipster, has released a leaked invitation from LG will be launching a new smartphone on Aug. 31. It seems that the LG V30 will be indeed launching on Aug. 31.

The invitation does not tell directly that the LG V30 will be debuting on Aug. 31. However, the image of the smartphone with a design of V on its display indicates that the LG V30 is slated for an announcement on the said date.

In the previous year, the LG V20 was launched on Oct. 1 and the South Korean company had released its launch invitation around 15 days before it. In 2015, the LG V10’s invitation was sent around one month before its official unveil. However, Blass has managed to leak the invitation of LG V30 pretty early as the launch date is around 50 days away.

The IFA 2017 annual tech trade show that will be held in Berlin, Germany will run between Sept. 1 to Sept. 6 which suggests that LG would be launching the LG V30 through a pre-IFA press conference.

The secondary ticker screen that shows notifications and frequently used apps has been one of the most unique features of LG V series flagship phablets. This year, the feature is unlikely to be present on the LG V30. The upcoming LG flagship will be the first smartphone from the company to use OLED panel.

OLED panels will make it possible to show notifications and other alerts on the top part of the screen while the rest of the portion of the screen is in sleep state. Speculations are rife that LG V30 would be gracing the Full Vision display that was introduced on the LG G6. Since the LG G6 features a 5.7-inch display, the upcoming LG V30 is expected to feature a 6-inch screen.

Speculations indicate that the LG V30 will be sporting a water and dust resistant all-glass body. Other feature of the LG V30 include Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4 GB / 6 GB RAM models, dual rear cameras, improved Quad DAC, 3.5mm audio jack, and a 3,200mAh battery with wireless charging support.

Lenovo has announced that its IFA 2017 keynote will hold on the 31st of August. IFA Berlin actually starts on the 1st of September and runs through to 6th but. it is not unusual to see manufacturers hold their product launches a day or two before it commences.

It is unclear what Lenovo will be announcing at the event but there are rumors of new products under the Yoga line. We are not so sure about any mobile phone for now but there is a chance some newly announced models will be on display. We might even be lucky to see some new Moto Mods too.

Some also say we may get new Lenovo branded phones. Although the Chinese giant keeps saying that it isn’t ditching Lenovo Mobile in favor of Motorola or Moto, recent activities have proved otherwise.

Motorola already has an event scheduled for July 25 and has started sending out press invites. The event will hold in New York and the bet is that it is for the Moto Z2 Force.

Previous rumors have revealed that the Sony Xperia X1 Compact would be coming with a 4.6-inch display. It is also speculated to house a 2,800mAh battery. As far as the Sony Xperia XZ1 is concerned, it is rumored to come with a 5.2-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4 GB RAM, and a 3,000mAh battery.

Apart from these two phones, the rumor mill is also talking that the Sony flagship would be driven by the company’s inhouse chipset. Other reports claim that this flagship would be full-screen display from JDI.

Since the news of the Sony chipset has arrived from an unverified source, it is best to digest this report with a pinch of salt.

A new rumour emanating from China has hinted that Sony is likely to launch a bezel-less smartphone at IFA Berlin 2017. Sony announced the Xperia XZ Premium at MWC 2017 with a nearly bezel-less design with bezels at the top and bottom but the new flagship which is said to launch at IFA will come with a large bezel-less display.

The Weibo post referred to JDI’s announcement earlier in June that they have started the mass production of their Full Active display technology. JDI was formed in 2012 through the consolidation of the display panel businesses of Sony, Hitachi and Toshiba and had announced the Full Active LCD display technology last year which would bring completely bezel-less displays to smartphones. As a result of the mass production, it is safe to say Sony is preparing something big sometime soon since it is the most active in the smartphone industry of the three which formed JDI.

JDI has struggled in recent times due to the proliferation of LCD manufacturers in China and the shift to OLED displays spearheaded by Samsung’s AMOLED panels which seem to achieve better resolutions than LCDs. But the recent technology uses a 6-inch display and an aspect ratio of 18:9 which would place it higher than the Mi Mix in terms of screen-to-body ratio.

As exciting as this may sound, you should take it with a pinch of salt as nothing in respect to a Sony IFA 2017 launch is confirmed yet. It may turn out to be true anyway, as bezel-less smartphones seem to be the way to go presently. We have got lots of them tipped to be in the works, like the iPhoen 8, Galaxy Note 8, Mi Mix 2 and a host of others. So, it makes perfect sense if Sony decides to release their own, using JDI’s latest LCD display technology.

LG had introduced its first V series flagship smartphone as LG V10 in October 2015. In the previous year, it released the LG V20 in October. Hence, the rumor mill has been speculating that the LG V30 would be introduced in October this year. Fresh information coming through South Korean media suggests that LG may debut the V30 early this year. It is now speculated to launch as early as in August.

A report published on Aju Business Daily that has been cited by The Investor claims that the LG V30 is arriving in August this year. Moreover, it even states that the LG G7 would be launching in January 2018. First of all, we would like to convey our readers to take this report with a pinch of salt as there is no concrete evidence to support these claims.

If the new rumor about the LG V30 is true, the South Korean company may unleash it during the major press conferences that will be held on the last two days of August. It may then debut the V30 at the IFA event that officially begins on Sept. 1 in Berlin, Germany and release it on a later date.

LG has never used the IFA platform to announce the LG V series smartphones probably because these phones have not been launched in European markets. However, this year, LG may use a different strategy to unveil the LG V30. However, on the contrary, Samsung may launch the Galaxy Note 8 at August end and in September, the new iPhones will arrive. These high popular smartphones can completely disrupt the sales of LG G7 if it is launched in August.

As far as the LG G7’s January 2018 release is concerned, it seems that the company may unleash it through the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that will be held in the same month. However, the CES platform is normally used to showcase next-generation home appliances like TVs and refrigerators. It will make more sense if the LG G7 flagship smartphone is unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona that is usually used for showcasing mobile devices. It seems that LG is looking forward to launch the LG G7 before the Samsung Galaxy S9 is introduced. It may so happen that the LG G7 may get announced in January and then release in February.

There are strong indications that Samsung may launch the Galaxy Note 8 at IFA Berlin 2017. Sammobile reports that the tech giant has some chances of launching the successor to the defunct Note 7, as against recent reports that stated otherwise. The flagship Galaxy Note model is expected to debut this year with a better design and more thorough safety checks that would make a hurried launch unlikely. This is obviously to avoid a repeat of the unfortunate issues that bogged the Galaxy Note 7 and led to its total recall. 

Even though Samsung is yet to share any detail of the Galaxy Note 8, Sammobile quoted internal sources as saying the tech giant is planning to release the Galaxy Note 8 at the tech conference held annually in Berlin. To buttress their claim, the internal sources gave the point that Samsung had always unveiled a device during IFA and that the Gear S4 which could possibly be the alternative gadget that might be unveiled is unlikely to be ready before the conference. This they attributed to the fact that the development of a Tizen 3.0 wearable has only just started.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is rumoured to feature an edge-to-edge Infinity display that would be 6.3 inches in size. The device is also expected to pack an Exynos 8895 chip and a yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 836 chip on other models. The device is also expected with 6GB / 8GB RAM and AKG stereo speakers. The Note 8 is also expected to pack a powerful dual camera setup with 3X Optical zoom, a Bixby button and other features.

Jens Heithecker, IFA Executive Director said in a press meet in Lisbon that the IFA tech tradeshow (usually held in September) is an ideal place for Samsung to introduce the Galaxy Note 8. It means that the Galaxy Note 8 may launch in September to rival against the next-generation iPhones as well as the rumored iPhone 8/X flagship.

Since 2011, Samsung has used the pre-IFA platform to launch the first Note phablet, Note 2, Note 3 and Note 4. However, in 2015 and 2016, the South Korean tech giant did not launch the Galaxy Note 5 and Note 7 at IFA tech tradeshow, but they were launched through unveil events in New York. in the month of August.

Speculations have it that Samsung wanted to avoid clashing of Galaxy Note’s launch with its best rival, the iPhone. Hence, it chose to unleash the Galaxy Note 5 and Note 7 in August for better sales result. The Galaxy Note 5 did achieve better sales but as we all know the Note 7 met with a premature death because of its faulty battery.

Heithicker wants Samsung to return to IFA this year to debut the Galaxy Note 8. The South Korean company is expected to hold the biggest presentation at the upcoming IFA 2017. As of this writing, there is no confirmation on whether the company will be unveiling smart TVs, other home appliances or the Galaxy Note 8.

Hethicker said during the recent press conference that the journalists and media from across the globe will be coming to Berlin where the IFA tradeshow is regularly held. It is not possible to gather media and journalists in other cities in August, he added.This year, the IFA 2017 will be held between Sept. 1 to 6.

The rumor mill is slowly picking up pace on revealing leaked information of Galaxy Note 8. Recently, a prototype of Galaxy S8+ was spotted with vertically arranged dual rear camera setup. Speculations suggest that this device could end up releasing as Galaxy Note 8.

Also, KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed key information on the specs of Galaxy Note 8. According to Kuo, the 12-megapixel + 13-megapixel dual rear camera setup will be on par with the twin rear camera of iPhone 8. The rear is also pegged to sport fingerprint scanner like the Galaxy S8 duo. The phablet would probably include a 6.4-inch display that will support QHD+ resolution. It will be driven by Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 in different markets.
