The report covers phone sales between July and September and it shows that a total of 46.6 million smartphone shipments were effected, which is higher than the 42.6 million units shipped during the same period last year.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/idc-india.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-288915" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/idc-india.png?x44794" alt="" width="719" height="298" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/idc-india.png 719w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/idc-india-300x124.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/idc-india-696x288.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 719px) 100vw, 719px" /></a></p>
<p>The improvement in the market was felt by all the top five brands, except <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a>, with a YoY increase in their shipments. The top five spots consist of <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi,</a> Samsung, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/vivo">Vivo</a>, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/realme">Realme</a> and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oppo">Oppo</a>.</p>

<p>Xiaomi continued its dominance of the Indian market with an estimated shipment of 12.6 million units, representing an 8.5% yearly growth. With a total shipping estimate of 8.8 million units, Samsung came in second but this is lower than the 9.6 million units shipped the year prior.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/idc-india-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-288916" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/idc-india-2.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="727" height="495" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/idc-india-2.jpg 727w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/idc-india-2-300x204.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/idc-india-2-696x474.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/idc-india-2-617x420.jpg 617w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /></a></p>
<p>BBK subsidiaries Vivo, Realme and OPPO completed the top five. Vivo is reported to have shipped an estimated 7.1 million smartphone with a hugely impressive 58.7% yearly growth. If you think this is impressive as well, wait until you see Realme&#8217;s growth curve. The new OPPO spin-off shipped a huge 7.1 million units in Q3 2019, up from 1.3 million in the same period last year. This massive shipment represents a growth of 401.3%. IDC fingers the affordable Realme C2, Realme 3 and 5 series for the success.  Oppo itself managed 5.5 million shipments and a solid 92.3% year on year growth. This indeed shows that BBK&#8217;s aim for creating a sub-brand out of OPPO is spot-on.</p>
<p>In terms of price category, the report shows that the INR 14,000 ($200) and under bracket accounted for 80% of all smartphone shipments in India for the period. This perhaps, explains why Realme is king. Affordable pricing. The INR 14,000 &#8211; 35,000 ($200-500) category got almost 19%, leaving just over a percent for the $500+ phones. Apple is king in the premium class with 51.3% share while the fastest-growing segment is the INR 21,000 &#8211; 35,000 ($300-500) range.</p>
