The post confirms that the company is now releasing the Android 13 update for these smartphones. For those unaware, these phones were launched with the Android 12 operating system installed. However, recently, Infinix confirmed that they were planning on releasing the Android 13 for the Zero series somewhere near August. The update was delayed due to unknown reasons, and the users needed clarification if they would receive the Android 13. The company took all the feedback, and now the users can enjoy the latest Android on their eligible devices.

The update notification should arrive automatically on the Zero series smartphones. In case you have not received it, you can go to Settings > System Update > Download. The Android 13 includes various bug fixes and an improved UI, providing a better user experience. In future, we expect to receive more major updates like these.

In related news, Infinix has recently announced a limited edition variant of Note 30 VIP. It is called the Infinix Note 30 VIP Racing Edition. The smartphone will be launched in partnership with BMW Group’s Designworks.
Infinix had just held a launch event to announced two new smartphones in India. During this conference, the company unveiled its first ever flagship smartphone for the Indian market. So here is our hands on and first impressions of the Zero Ultra. Keep in mind that this is not a full review and just a first look.

With the Zero Ultra model, it is clear that the two highlighting aspect of the smartphone that immediately stand out (apart from its whopping 180W fast charging) is undoubtedly its design and display. We were invited to the launch event and had the chance to test out the device in our hands. The Zero Ultra model is available in two variants, namely Coslight Silver and Genesis Noir, with both of them featuring a different rear panel and color palette. We used both of the devices and let’s just say the Genesis Noir is the star of the day.

The Coslight Silver had unique grooves on a white panel that shimmered under the light. This panel was surrounded by a metallic frame, which adds to its premium feel and experience. On the other hand, the Genesis Noir also features a similar frame but with a dual tone back that consists mostly of a glossy glass panel along with a textured leather like material. This makes it look quite elegant and feels great in your hands. Meanwhile, the front sports a tall 6.8 inch Curved AMOLED display that has a high 120Hz refresh rate.

Curved screens aren’t as common even in flagship devices, and for a price tag of 29,999 INR, it makes this model feel a lot more premium. We didn’t get to use the device for too long, but we did play around with the cameras as well. In this segment, the Infinix Zero Ultra is the only model to offer a large 200 megapixel primary camera, which is a Samsung sensor and also offers OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). While a proper camera review wasn’t possible, initial images showed great details in each shot despite the low light environment. So do look out for this model as it drops on December 25 on Flipkart.

The Infinix Zero Ultra is scheduled to launch in India on December 20. The device will likely go official at 12 PM IST.

Since the phone is already on sale in some markets, we know everything about it. Let’s go through its specs.

The Infinix Zero Ultra flaunts a 6.8-inch curved AMOLED display with FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution and up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The centered punch hole screen supports up to 900 nits peak brightness.

The handset is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 920 SoC paired with a vapor chamber cooling system. It boots XOS 12 based on Android 12.

The device houses a triple camera system on the rear. The setup includes an OIS-assisted 200MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide unit, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, it has a 32MP shooter for selfies and video calls.

The smartphone comes with an in-screen fingerprint sensor and a MicroSD card slot. But it lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack and dual stereo speakers. Last but not least, it is backed by a 4,500mAh battery and carries support for 180W fast charging.

We recently found something fascinating. Once we got our hands on the Redmi Note 12 Pro Explorer and Infinix Zero Ultra, they started to feel very similar? If you think about it, both have 200 MP main cameras, both have superfast charging speeds, both also have mid-range chips, and even the lens design is a bit similar. Does that mean someone out there is confused about which one to buy.

This video below mainly compares charging, performance and photography, and maybe after watching this video, you will know which one to buy.

The Note 12 Pro Explorer and Zero Ultra both charge at over 150w, especially the 12 Pro Explorer at 210w. I think it’s hard to visualize how mind-bendingly fast it is with just give you a charging graph. So I decided to plug them in first and wait until the end of this video, and then we’ll see how much they charge in. This way, you will be able to experience just how fast they charge.

Although the Note 12 Pro uses MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 1080, the review video of the 12 Pro doesn’t show it to be much better than the Zero Ultra’s Dimensity 920. And so it is, the difference in scores between the two phones is very small. But when it comes to the gaming test, there is a clear difference, as the two phones have completely different responses to large games.

Since the chip is not as powerful, we chose medium Graphics. Note 12 Pro Explorer tends to release all the power, so its average fps is a little higher than Zero Ultra. But the cost is more power consumption, and with the smaller battery, the difference in power consumption with the Zero Ultra is 3%. So all things considered, these two phones perform about the same in terms of performance. Their performance will not sway your purchase choice.

Redmi Note 12 Pro Explorer vs Infinix Zero Ultra – CAMERAS

Their camera systems are equally interesting, and while they both have pros and cons, they are both completely different. For example, the Zero Ultra’s main camera algorithm likes to add sharpening effects that make the image very messy. This is not the case with the Note 12 Pro Explorer. The Note 12 Pro Explorer, for example, likes to make the dynamic range of the night mode lower, so that the contrast is increased and the photos look more like night, while the Zero Ultra likes to make the dynamic range of the night mode photos higher. Although not all photos will have a higher dynamic range, some scenes have a better dynamic range in auto mode instead. So it’s hard to say who is better when you just focus on the main camera.

200MP mode surely many people wonder, does it really give us sharper photos? The answer depends on the conditions under which you shoot. It does take super clear photos. For example, in these two pictures, both phones took 200MP photos with a clarity that no other phone could. In good light, the two phones are very similar sharpness in this mode. But as soon as evening came, the difference between turning on 200MP mode and automatic 12MP mode was narrowing. In very dark conditions, the Note 12 Pro Explorer is only a little better than 12MP mode in terms of sharpness, while the Zero Ultra has just less sharpening effect and 200MP mode has almost no improvement in sharpness. And the size of 200MP photos is 7 to 10 times bigger than 12MP photos. So I think it’s usually better to use the automatic mode, 200MP mode is more like a gimmick.

Coming to the ultra-wide angle camera part, I declare Zero Ultra the overall winner. The samples from both phones in auto mode look like they’re about the same, but in fact the Zero Ultra has more detail and better noise control than the Note 12 Pro Explorer. What’s really great about the Zero Ultra is the Night View mode. Whether it’s exposure, dynamic range or clarity, it’s much better than the Note 12 Pro Explorer. If you are a fan of ultra-wide angle lenses, then you must try the Zero Ultra’s ultra-wide angle camera.

Both phones recorded 4K 30fps video without EIS, so the footage looked shaky. If you switch back to 1080p 30fps, the EIS is back. And the Zero Ultra has less image crop, so it doesn’t look as stable as the Note 12 Pro Explorer. But with Ultra steady mode turned on, the Zero Ultra is as stable as the Note 12 Pro Explorer. So in terms of video recording, they are a tie.

The video is also near the end, let’s see how much the two phones have been charged.

Redmi Note 12 Explorer vs Infinix Zero Ultra 03

What do you think, the time to watch a video can charge so much, over your expectations, it is? Even if you forget to charge it at night, the time it takes to brush your teeth and wash your face in the morning can charge it to more than 70%. So the world’s fastest charging phone is actually a mid-range phone, which is kind of what Redmi and Infinix deserve the most praise for, right?

After our test, although they are very similar, they are not exactly the same.

I have made a table, you can refer to the table to choose which one is more suitable for you. Of course, if you find that one phone is much cheaper than the other, then we recommend you to choose the cheaper one. Because the difference between them is not very huge, saving money is more important than anything else.

As the device has already debuted in the global market, we know what to expect regarding specs and features.

Infinix ZERO ULTRA Specifications and Features

The Infinix ZERO ULTRA has a curved 6.8-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display (2400 × 1080 pixels resolution) with 120Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 900 nits. The back of the device features a 3D textured glass finish.

It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 920 SoC, which is based on a 6nm technology and includes two 2.5GHz Cortex-A78 CPUs and six 2GHz Cortex-A55 CPUs. The SoC also houses the Mali- G68 MC4 GPU. This chipset is paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. As for software, the device boots Android 12-based XOS 12 out of the box.

The camera system is the main attraction of this device. The ZERO ULTRA has a triple camera setup on the back consisting of a 200-megapixel main camera with OIS, paired with a 13-megapixel ultrawide and 2-megapixel sensor. The front of the device houses a 32-megapixel selfie camera in the centered punch-hole.

It has a respectable 4,500mAh battery capacity which is augmented by Infinix’s latest 180W Thunder Charge technology. The brand claims that the phone can be charged up to 100% in just 12 minutes. The device offers 5G, along with LTE, dual-band WiFi, and Bluetooth on the connectivity front.

As for pricing, the Infinix ZERO ULTRA has launched with a $520 price tag for the 8GB + 256GB model. It will be interesting to see if the Indian price will be tweaker and if the device will be made available in a lower configuration.

Take the Infinix Zero Ultra, for example. It is one of the world’s first phones with a 200 MP camera and it has one of the fastest charging technologies ever seen on a mobile device. It is definitely one of the most interesting phones of this year, but it has an internal rival that is making people save much money while still getting a great phone: the Infinix Zero 20. They are both midrange phones belonging to the same series, but with very different specifications. This is a comparison between the main specifications of the Infinix Zero 20 and the Infinix Zero Ultra.

Design

Despite it being a mid-ranger, the Infinix Zero Ultra is definitely one of the most beautiful phones of this year. Unlike almost every mid-ranger out there, it comes with a display sporting curved edges at the sides, as well as premium materials. The screen to body ratio is very high and this allowed the manufacturer to put a very wide display in a pretty compact body. The Infinix Zero 20 has a good build quality, but not the best design. It is equipped with a sturdy aluminum frame, but the presence of a waterdrop notch above the display is a bit anachronistic for a midrange phone released in 2022. So, if you are looking for the most beautiful design, you should choose the Infinix Zero Ultra without thinking twice.

Display

The displays of these two phones are very similar in terms of image quality, but they are not the same. The Infinix Zero Ultra has a wide 6.8-inch panel with AMOLED technology, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, an in-display fingerprint reader, and a punch hole placed in the central part. The Infinix Zero 20 has an AMOLED display too, with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, but it comes with a lower refresh rate of 90 Hz and a diagonal of 6.7 inches. It even loses the in-display fingerprint reader: on this device, it is side-mounted. On the other hand, unlike its internal rival, it is equipped with stereo speakers as the earpiece doubles as a secondary speaker. Now, you know which one has the best display and which one has the best audio.

Hardware/Software

The hardware department of the Infinix Zero Ultra is way better. First of all, it is the only one in the duo with 5G connectivity. Further, it has a superior chipset: a Dimensity 920 by Mediatek built with a 6 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture composed of two Cortex A78 CPUs running at a max frequency of 2.5 GHz, six Cortex A55 CPUs running at 2 GHz, and a Mali G68 MC4 GPU. The SoC is paired with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of native storage and the internal storage is expandable with a micro SD. You can get the same memory configuration with the Infinix Zero 20, but with an inferior chipset and without the 5G connectivity. The SoC is an Helio G99 by Mediatek built with a 6 nm production process and with an octa-core architecture including two Cortex A76 CPUs running at a max frequency of 2.2 GHz, six Cortex A55 CPUs running at 2 GHz, and a Mali G57 MC2 GPU. The operating system installed is Android 12, customized by XOS 12 user interface.

Camera

The Infinix Zero Ultra is one of the most incredible camera phones released this year and it wins the camera comparison. It has a triple camera setup with the world’s first 200 MP main camera (supporting optical stabilization too), with a 13 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP macro lens. The Infinix Zero 20 has an inferior triple camera including a 108 MP main sensor, a 13 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP macro camera, but the selfie shooter is definitely better with its 60 MP resolution, OIS support, and front-facing LED flash.

Battery

The battery capacities of these two phones are the same: 4500 mAh. The energy consumption of their components does not differ too much, so they should provide similar battery life. What changes is the charging speed: the Infinix Zero Ultra wins because it supports 180W fast charging, it is the fastest technology out there if we exclude iQOO’s 200W fast charging.

Infinix Zero 20 vs Infinix Zero Ultra: Price

The starting price of the Infinix Zero 20 in the Asian market roughly translates into €275 or $275, while the Infinix Zero Ultra starts from $520 or €520 at the actual change. The Zero 20 has a better front camera, but overall, it is an inferior phone. The Ultra offers a better display, superior chipset, 5G connectivity, better rear cameras, and faster charging.

Four different brands have scheduled events. Some of these conferences will witness the announcement of more than one phone.

The companies that have confirmed to debut new handsets in the coming days are Motorola, Xiaomi, Infinix, and Google. The Motorola announcement will be limited to India, while the presentation by other brands will be global.

All of these forthcoming phones are either mid-ranger or flagship. But none of them will be foldable.

With that out of the way, let’s look at these devices one by one.

According to a TechYorker report, the smartphone maker is set to launch the Infinix Zero Ultra in India soon with 180W fast charging, which it refers to as Thunder Charge. However, finer details regarding the smartphone is still unknown. Although, based on the previous teaser, we know that it will be powered by a 4,500mAh battery pack that will be able to charge to 50 percent in just 4 minutes thanks to the Thunder Charge feature.

Apart from this, the device is expected to house up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Although, it states that the handset might be a 4G only model. As per the report, the Infinix Zero Ultra may be equipped with an older generation chipset. While finer details are still unknown, the report has revealed its possible price range that might be between the 25,000 INR and 30,000 INR (roughly 315 to 379 US Dollars).

In other words, its an upper mid range handset that will compete against other models in the same price segment like the OnePlus Nord 2T, iOOO Neo 6, and the POCO F4 5G. Its highlight feature is undoubtedly its impressive fast charging rate. But it remains to be seen if its price tag is worth it based on its other specifications.
