<p>Gamers and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/intel">Intel </a>fanboys have an extra reason to celebrate today. Intel has unveiled the i9-14900KS, the crown jewel of their 14th generation desktop <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/processor">processor </a>family. This unlocked beast came through the gate swinging, boasting a record-breaking turbo frequency of up to 6.2 GHz. It&#8217;s not just setting new records, it&#8217;s pushing the boundaries of desktop performance. The launch date of the processor was <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/03/07/intel-will-reportedly-launch-the-core-i9-14900ks-processor-on-march-14-which-may-reach-up-to-6-2-ghz/">previously revealed </a>in a report by VideoCardz. </p>

<h3>The CPU supports up to 192GB of DDR5 memory &amp; is compatible with Z790 and Z690 motherboards.</h3>

<p>&#8220;This processor showcases the raw power of our 14th Gen lineup,&#8221; says Intel&#8217;s Roger Chandler. &#8220;Gamers and creators can expect a whole new level of performance, taking their experiences to the next level.&#8221;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/newsroom-core-unlocked.jpg.rendition.intel_.web_.1920.1080-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="Intel" class="wp-image-611349" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/newsroom-core-unlocked.jpg.rendition.intel_.web_.1920.1080-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/newsroom-core-unlocked.jpg.rendition.intel_.web_.1920.1080-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/newsroom-core-unlocked.jpg.rendition.intel_.web_.1920.1080-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/newsroom-core-unlocked.jpg.rendition.intel_.web_.1920.1080-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/newsroom-core-unlocked.jpg.rendition.intel_.web_.1920.1080-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/newsroom-core-unlocked.jpg.rendition.intel_.web_.1920.1080-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/newsroom-core-unlocked.jpg.rendition.intel_.web_.1920.1080-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/newsroom-core-unlocked.jpg.rendition.intel_.web_.1920.1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The i9-14900KS packs a serious punch with 24 cores (8 performance-oriented and 16 efficiency cores), 32 threads, and 36MB of Intel Smart Cache. Official benchmarks claim a 15% gaming performance leap over the previous generation, while content creators will enjoy significant efficiency gains in demanding workflows like 3D rendering.</p>

<p>The i9-14900KS boasts a flagship set of features: a record-breaking 6.2 GHz turbo frequency fueled by Thermal Velocity Boost technology, 24 cores, 32 threads, 150W base power, 36MB Intel Smart Cache, and 20 PCIe lanes (including 16 PCIe 5.0 lanes). Gamers can expect an extra edge with Intel <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/gaming">Gaming </a>Optimizer (APO), delivering up to an 11% performance boost in supported titles (currently 14 games). Additionally, it supports up to 192GB of DDR5 memory and is compatible with Z790 and Z690 motherboards.</p>

<p>The i9-14900KS will be priced at $689, and it will be available for purchase boxed at retailers or pre-integrated into high-end systems from Intel and its partners. </p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/intel/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Intel</a> is set to release the Core i9-14900KS processor on March 14, according to reports from VideoCardz.</p>

<h2>The Core i9-14900KS is expected to hit a boost clock of 6.2 GHz</h2>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="532" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/4b182d04-2327-485f-adee-af58864cead1.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-609713" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/4b182d04-2327-485f-adee-af58864cead1.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/4b182d04-2327-485f-adee-af58864cead1-300x156.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/4b182d04-2327-485f-adee-af58864cead1-768x399.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/4b182d04-2327-485f-adee-af58864cead1-696x362.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/4b182d04-2327-485f-adee-af58864cead1-808x420.webp 808w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Core i9-14900KS, source: pakhtunov/OCN</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The Core i9-14900KS joins the lineup alongside its predecessors, the Core i9-12900KS and Core i9-13900KS, which were released on April 5, 2022, and January 12, 2023, respectively. Unlike its predecessors, the i9-14900KS reportedly boasts a higher clock speed of up to 6.2 GHz (instead of 6.0 GHz) on two cores, which was <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/02/20/intel-lunar-lake-core-i9-leak/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">previously spotted</a> in a leak in late February along with Lunar Lake Laptop CPUs. The Core i9-14900KS is also expected to reach up to 5.9 GHz on all P cores and 4.5 GHz on the E cores.</p>

<p>One notable aspect of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/intel-core-i9/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Intel Core i9</a>-14900KS is its pricing, which is reported to be around $740, approximately 30% higher than the current flagship i9-14900K. Despite the higher price tag, the i9-14900KS promises significant performance improvements, making it an attractive option for enthusiasts and power users.</p>

<p>In terms of specifications, the i9-14900KS is based on the Raptor Lake Refresh architecture and features 8 performance cores (P) and 16 efficient cores (E), resulting in a total of 24 cores and 32 threads. It comes equipped with 36MB of L3 cache and 32MB of L2 cache, providing ample memory for demanding tasks and multitasking scenarios. Additionally, the maximum thermal design power (TDP) has likely been bumped up from the i9-14900K&#8217;s 125W to 150W for the upcoming i9-14900KS.</p>

<p>Notably, this processor will be the final addition to Intel&#8217;s LGA-1700 platform and marks the end of an era with the last CPU to utilize the old naming convention for Desktop CPUs. Going forward, it will be replaced by the LGA-1851 socket starting with the 15th-generation Arrow Lake CPUs by the end of this year.</p>

<p>As of right now, the Core i9-12900H appears to be the fastest chip from Team Blue&#8217;s 11th generation of mobile CPU. It was recently spotted within Ashes of The Singularity benchmark. For those unaware, the new Alder Lake P lineup will be replacing the last generation&#8217;s Tiger Lake H45, Tiger Lake H35, and the Tiger Lake UP3 series processors. Looking at the benchmark results in AOTS, the Core i9 features 14 cores (6 P Cores + 8 E Cores) and 20 threads (Via <a href="https://wccftech.com/intel-core-i9-12900h-alder-lake-p-laptop-cpu-with-14-cores-20-threads-spotted-coming-to-high-end-gaming-laptops-soon/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>WccFTech</em></a>).</p>
<p>The results of the benchmark has also revealed that the new processors was listed with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 laptop GPU and 16GB of RAM. Unfortunately, the benchmark did not reveal any other finer details like core clock speeds, cache, or memory specifications. In other words, no comparison can be made as of right now to other processors. But seeing how the chip was paired with a top end NVIDIA GPU, we can expect to see it ship with premium gaming laptops.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-420324 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Intel-Alder-Lake-P-Core-i9-12900H-Laptop-CPU-With-14-Cores-and-20-Threads-820x402.png?x44794" alt="Intel" width="820" height="402" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Intel-Alder-Lake-P-Core-i9-12900H-Laptop-CPU-With-14-Cores-and-20-Threads-820x402.png 820w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Intel-Alder-Lake-P-Core-i9-12900H-Laptop-CPU-With-14-Cores-and-20-Threads-820x402-300x147.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Intel-Alder-Lake-P-Core-i9-12900H-Laptop-CPU-With-14-Cores-and-20-Threads-820x402-768x377.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Intel-Alder-Lake-P-Core-i9-12900H-Laptop-CPU-With-14-Cores-and-20-Threads-820x402-324x160.png 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Intel-Alder-Lake-P-Core-i9-12900H-Laptop-CPU-With-14-Cores-and-20-Threads-820x402-533x261.png 533w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Intel-Alder-Lake-P-Core-i9-12900H-Laptop-CPU-With-14-Cores-and-20-Threads-820x402-696x341.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px" /></p>
<p>These laptops will likely launch sometime next year. Although, since Intel is making its own graphics cards as well, we could even see an all Intel powered laptop in the market as well. For those unaware, the chipmaker is also working on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/05/intel-arc-alchemist-gpu-launch-late-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">ARC Alchemist series of discrete GPUs</a> that will compete with the likes of NVIDIA and ARM in the PC market.</p>

The company also claims that the new chipset is up to 19 percent faster than the predecessor.</p>
<p>The Intel Core i9-11900K, the flagship chipset, is set to be available in the first quarter of 2021 and has also provided the latest preview of this series as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ces-2021">CES 2021</a>. Apart from faster performance, the company is also promising better integrated graphics and better AI.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-364939 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Intel-Core-i9-11thGen.png?x44794" alt="Intel Core i9 11th Generation Rocket Lake-S Chipset" width="920" height="613" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Intel-Core-i9-11thGen.png 920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Intel-Core-i9-11thGen-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Intel-Core-i9-11thGen-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Intel-Core-i9-11thGen-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Intel-Core-i9-11thGen-630x420.png 630w" sizes="(max-width: 920px) 100vw, 920px" /></p>
<p>The top-end model in the lineup &#8212; Intel Core i9 features an eight-core, 16-thread <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/chipset">chipset</a> that supports a boosted clock speed of up to 5.3GHz. It also has support for DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz, a total of 20 PCIe 4.0 lanes, and also supports backward compatibility with the Intel 400 series chipsets.</p>
<p>Although these are the 11th generation chipset from Intel, the Rocket Lake-S lineup is still a 14nm chips and don&#8217;t use the company&#8217;s latest 10nm process. But, the new chips do come with Intel&#8217;s Cypress Cove cores, which brings improvements from the 10nm design to 14nm for faster speeds.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK:</span> </strong><a title="MediaTek’s next chipset is the Dimensity 1200 and it will best the Snapdragon 865" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/12/mediateks-next-chipset-is-the-dimensity-1200-and-it-will-best-the-snapdragon-865/" rel="bookmark"><strong>MediaTek’s next chipset is the Dimensity 1200 and it will best the Snapdragon 865</strong></a></p>
<p>It&#8217;s noteworthy that the new Rocket Lake-S chips core count has dropped to eight compared to 10 cores in its predecessors. Despite that, the company promises that the overall performance will be better in the 11th generation models.</p>
<p>While the company has shared these details, more information still remains to be revealed. We expect the company to share more in the coming weeks, including the chipset models, their specs and features, as well as pricing and availability details.</p>

The new Lenovo Legion Y9000K, Y7000P, and Y7000 were all announced and it must be stated that the models were first unveiled at CES 2019but with Core i7 SoC.<img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-249410" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>Perhaps the most spectacular feature is the latest 9th-gen Intel Core i9 processor they all pack. The 15-inch laptops are also equipped with the new generation of NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards and buyers get to chose between the RTX and GTX. Zhang Hua, vice president of Lenovo Group and general manager of consumer business in Lenovo China disclosed that the Lenovo Legion notebook has three unique features namely; Dual-Direct GFX dual-mode enhanced display, TSI frost blade cooling system, and Fn+Q one-button beast mode. The TSI frost blade cooling system has a heat pipe with a diameter of up to 8mm. This has led to an increase in the heat transfer area by 78% and a reduction in the irregular fan cover noise by 10%.<img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-249411" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-2-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-2-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-2-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-2-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-2-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-2-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/lenovo-legion-2.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>The Beast mode is activated using the Fn+Q button. The Beast mode, when activated let the fan spin at full-speed in order to quickly dissipate heat from the system. This leads to stabilization of the hardware temperature, ensuring the stability of the game operation. Beast mode also turns off power consumption limits, increases CPU power and clock speed, gains more computing performance, and increases game speed. Furthermore, the laptops feature a full-size keyboard with a white backlight.</p>
<p>There is no word yet on the pricing and availability of the Lenovo Legion Y7000 gaming laptops.</p>

<p>Intel&#8217;s 18-core  Core i9 chip takes the bar a tad higher from where AMD left off with its 16-core Threadripper CPU. The 18-core chip is the first time the company is utilising an 18-core CPU for its processor. As would be expected, the new chip equally has a huge price tag slammed on it. Manufacturers would have to part with $1,999 for a single unit making this a super high-end chip which you may definitely not find on just any desktop PC. But the chip will sure satisfy the yearnings of gaming enthusiasts who would like to play games in 4K while attending to other tasks like broadcasting the game in HD live. The Intel Core i9 also scores another first in the aspect of packing a teraflop of computing power.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Intelxseriesfamily.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-134053" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Intelxseriesfamily.jpg?x44794" alt="Intel core x series" width="1166" height="603" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Intelxseriesfamily.jpg 1166w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Intelxseriesfamily-300x155.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Intelxseriesfamily-768x397.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Intelxseriesfamily-1024x530.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1166px) 100vw, 1166px" /></a></p>

<p>Apart from the 18-core chip, Intel also has other models in the Core X family which uses 10 cores, 12 cores, 14 cores and 16 cores respectively. The model with 10 cores comes with the model number i9-7900X and will sell for $999 which is cheaper than last year&#8217;s deca-core chip. Despite the difference in cores, all the i9chips come with a base clock frequency of 3.3GHz and can reach up to 4.3Ghz dual-core speeds with Turbo Boost 3.0. The performance of the new X-series chips has been greatly improved, thus increasing both single and dual-core speed.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/IntelXSeriesplatformcomparison.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-134054" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/IntelXSeriesplatformcomparison.jpg?x44794" alt="intel core i9" width="1159" height="653" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/IntelXSeriesplatformcomparison.jpg 1159w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/IntelXSeriesplatformcomparison-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/IntelXSeriesplatformcomparison-768x433.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/IntelXSeriesplatformcomparison-1024x577.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1159px) 100vw, 1159px" /></a></p>

<p>Other members of the X series include a set of lower core count models such as a Quad-core i5-7640X and i7 models available in 4-cores, 6 cores and 8 core models. In order to take care of the heat issues that might arise from the higher numbers of cores, Intel also developed its own liquid cooling solution which will work across these new chips, as well as some previous generations. All of the new Core i9 processors, along with the 6-core and 8-core i7 chips, feature 140W thermal design points (TDPs) which are the maximum amount of power that they&#8217;ll draw just like last year&#8217;s 10-core CPU.</p>
