Acer Aspire 16 AI laptops launched: Up to 27hr battery life in Intel Core Ultra, AMD Ryzen AI, & Snapdragon X CPUs

Acer has just announced a bunch of new PCs with cutting edge hardware. The Acer Predator Orion 3000 is a desktop PC, while the Predator Helios Neo 14 AI and Predator Triton 15 AI are powerful gaming laptops. But alongside these models, the company has also unveiled Aspire 16 AI laptops that offer impressively long battery life across latest gen Intel, AMD, and Snapdragon platforms. So let’s check it out.

Acer Aspire 16 AI launch: What makes it special?

Acer has built the Aspire 16 AI with new and efficient processors that promise great battery life while not compromising on performance. The Intel variant arrived with up to a Core Ultra 7 258V, which is paired with Intel Arc graphics. Acer promises up to 26 hours of battery life on this model. Meanwhile, the AMD option features either the Ryzen AI 7 350 or Ryzen AI 5 340 processors. This is coupled with Radeon 860M and Radeon 840M, respectively.

Lastly, there is the ARM based Snapdragon version which includes the Snapdragon X platform. The most notable aspect of this model is its impressively long battery life of 27 hours. The new Aspire 16 AI sports a tall 16-inch OLED WUXGA+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 500 nits of peak brightness. Although, the Qualcomm option skips the OLED display for an LCD WUXGA panel that can be opted with 100 percent sRGB or 45 percent NTSC color gamut.

Acer Aspire 16 AI Laptop

All Aspire 16 AI laptop can be paired with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of PCIe Gen4 SSD storage. These also support microSD expansion. A sizeable 65Wh battery pack powers this model. Connectivity options include USB 3.2 Type-A, USB-C, HDMI 2.1, a MicroSD slot, and WiFi 6E/7. Acer Aspire 16 AI runs on Windows 11 OS, with the AMD options featuring Microsoft’s Pluton security chip and facial recognition. The Snapdragon variant gets the basic Windows Hello.

Other notable AI powered features include PurifiedVoice, LiveArt, and Copilot+ Hotkey. Acer is set to launch the Aspire 16 AI in the Snapdragon option in July for a starting price tag of 749 Euros. On the other hand, the AMD and Intel variants will go on sale in August. Team Red options will start from 999 Euros, while the base model of Team Blue versions costs 1,049 Euros.

Xiaomi is apparently working on the next generation of notebooks from its Redmi sub brand. A fresh teaser has revealed that a new Redmi Book Pro model is set to launch soon, which is likely the 2025 variant of the brand’s higher end laptop lineup. The leak also reveals one of its key specs. So let’s have a look.

The Chinese tech giant’s upcoming Redmi Book Pro 2025 model can be seen with the Intel Core Ultra 5 processor. This was shared Weibo by the product marketing director of Xiaomi, Ma Zhiyu. Looking at the leaked images, we can see that the Redmi Book Pro arrives with Xiaomi Xiaomi PC Manager pre-installed. We also get a look at the stickers that confirmed Intel Arc integrated graphics.

As of right now, it is unclear whether the Intel Core Ultra 5 is a first gen or Series 2 chipset. But it is likely the newer chipset. We also get an idea regarding the performance as well since the upcoming Redmi Book Pro (2025) can be seen running Black Myth: Wukong. While the exact graphics settings are unknown, the notebook managed to get an average of 67 fps, with the highest frames hitting 75 fps, and the biggest drop only being 59 fps.

Interestingly, the wallpaper on the new Redmi Book Pro is the Xiaomi SU7 electric car, which is set to launch at the start of next month. This teaser arrives after the new Redmi Book 14/16 (2025) models were announced in China.

Geekbench score of the MSI Prestige 13 AI Evo laptop has leaked ahead of the launch, providing insights into Intel’s new Core Ultra 200V series.

We expect Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra 200V series to debut by the end of this year. Previous leaks revealed it will feature three processor series: Core Ultra 5, 7, and 9. The Lunar Lake is focused on efficiency and low-power mobile devices, and it will be featured with Intel’s new mobile processors. The Core Ultra 288V which appeared in Geekbench results, is part of this series and stands out as the best in Core Ultra 9 famiily.

Intel Core Ultra 288V vs. Core Ultra 9 185H

Recently surfaced Geekbench score reveals Intel Core Ultra 9 288V achieved a single-core score of 2790 and a multi-core score of 11048. While these numbers might not seem impressive at first glance, remember that the Core Ultra 9 288V’s maximum turbo power is just 30W. We rely on the processor’s power consumption based on previously leaked information, so it’s not actually official until Intel launches the new chips.

Comparing the Core Ultra 9 288V’s score to Intel’s currently available high-end Core Ultra 9 185H, we see a significant boost in single-core performance. A single-core score of close to 3000 points is quite impressive. If the leaked base and turbo power rates hold true, Intel appears set to introduce a processor that’s both powerful and efficient.

Acer Swift Go 14 AI PC with Intel Core Ultra 7 & 500 nits OLED display launching soon in India

Acer recently announced that it will soon be launching the Predator Helios 16 gaming laptop featuring a 14th Gen Intel CPU and an RTX 4080 GPU in India. Along with that, the brand has also revealed its plans to launch another laptop by the name of Acer Swift Go 14 AI PC in the country. This laptop also comes with the latest Intel CPUs, along with an OLED display.

Acer Swift Go 14 AI PC specs:

As per the dedicated Amazon page, the new Swift Go 14 AI laptop features a 14-inch OLED display with a peak brightness of 500 nits. This panel comes with 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut and is certified with DisplayHDR 500 True Black.

The Swift Go 14 AI PC is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and supports up to 16GB LPDDR5X 6400 RAM and 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen 4 SSD. It also incorporates Intel’s AI Boost and Acer’s own AI solution to improve AI-driven tasks. It is also worth noting that the laptop comes with Intel Evo certification, which means that it passes Intel’s rigorous standards for an EVO notebook. Intel EVO requirements include biometric login support, a robust processor, AI-based noise suppression for video calls, rapid charging via USB Type C, over 9.5 hours of battery life with an FHD display, and an FHD 1080p @ 30 fps webcam, among other features.

Coming back to the laptop specifications, users can expect up to 12.5 hours of battery life on a single charge, with the option of quick charging up to 100W via USB C port. The device also features a 1440p QHD webcam for clear video calls and includes multiple connectivity options such as HDMI 2.1, USB Type C ports, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth LE audio.

With the announcement of Intel’s Core Ultra series CPUs earlier today, OEMs have started showing their hand as well. The latest to join the growing list is Lenovo, which has unveiled its ThinkPad X1 Carbon 12th Gen and the ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 9th Gen laptops along with the IdeaPad Pro 5i. Here are all the details:

ThinkPad X1 Carbon 12th Gen/ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 specs & features:

In terms of performance, both the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 12th Gen and the ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 9th Gen are equipped with the latest Intel Core Ultra processors. However, there are notable differences in memory specifications, with the X1 Carbon supporting up to 64GB of LPDDR5X memory, while the X1 2-in-1 accommodates up to 32GB of LPDDR4X memory. Both laptops offer impressive storage options with up to 2TB of PCIe NVMe SSD storage. The X1 Carbon features Intel Arc Graphics, whereas the X1 2-in-1 is equipped with Intel Iris Xe graphics.

Intel drops “i” from future Core CPU names as it throws in a new Ultra tier

For the longest time, Intel Core CPUs came with an iconic “i” in their names— Intel Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7. But moving forward, the company may get rid of the “i” from the names of its processors, branding them to a simpler “Core 3/5/7/9” concept. This rebranding will apparently make Intel’s products better align with customer requests. Additionally, the company is introducing an Ultra tier for higher-end chips.

Say goodbye to the “i” and hello to “Ultra”

Benchmarks of the upcoming “Meteor Lake generation” of CPUs have leaked, revealing the name “Core Ultra 5 1003H,” as reported by VideoCardz. The absence of the “i” in the processor’s name suggests that Intel is indeed abandoning the iconic letter. The reasoning behind this decision is intriguing—Intel believes that the name “Intel” is becoming overshadowed, and customers primarily identify the company through terms like “Core i5” or “Core i7.”

“When we looked at how the tech press, how our retailers, our OEMs, our partners talk about it, it was interesting to see how we got shortchanged all the way to a letter and a number,” Christopher Hirsch, Intel’s director of product branding, told The Verge.

Furthermore, the US tech giant will introduce a new tier called “Ultra” in its branding, positioned before the number. This means the future high-end processors may be referred to as “Intel Core Ultra X.” Intel has clarified that generational information will still be included at the end, such as “Intel Core X processor 1300AB.” The company has stated that both the standard Core and Core Ultra processors will be compatible with its Intel Arc graphics (Via Engadet).
