Apple Releases iOS 17.3 Update

The iOS 17.3 update brings a new feature called Stolen Device Protection (SDP). This new security addition for iPhones makes it significantly more difficult for thieves to access your sensitive information, even if they get hold of your passcode. Given the constant advancements in fraudster tactics, this proves to be a highly valuable feature.

The iOS 17.3 update brings a new feature to our lives: collaborative playlists. Now, you can invite friends to join your playlist, and everyone can add, reorder, and remove songs. For additional details, check out Apple’s update notes:

Stolen Device Protection

Stolen Device Protection increases security of iPhone and Apple ID by requiring Face ID or Touch ID with no passcode fallback to perform certain actions
Security Delay requires Face ID or Touch ID, an hour wait, and then an additional successful biometric authentication before sensitive operations like changing device passcode or Apple ID password can be performed

Lock Screen

New Unity wallpaper honors Black history and culture in celebration of Black History Month

Music

Collaborate on playlists allows you to invite friends to join your playlist and everyone can add, reorder, and remove songs
Emoji reactions can be added to any track in a collaborative playlist

This update also includes the following improvements:

AirPlay hotel support lets you stream content directly to the TV in your room in select hotels
AppleCare & Warranty in Settings shows your coverage for all devices signed in with your Apple ID
Crash detection optimizations (all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models)

Some features may not be available for all regions or on all Apple devices. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website.

With the iOS 17.3 Update, Your iPhone Becomes a Thief’s Worst Nightmare

Apple recently released the iOS 17.2 update. In addition to new features like the Daily app, the new version also brought numerous improvements. As always, the company has already started working on the next version after this process. In fact, today, they released the first developer beta version of iOS 17.3. Naturally, with this development, some new features have emerged. The most noteworthy among these features is the “stolen device protection,” which secures your stolen device. Here are the details about the iOS 17.3 update…

No Thief Would Dare to Steal Your iPhone After the iOS 17.3 Update

The prices of smartphones are increasing day by day. In today’s world, the prices of these devices, which encompass various advanced technologies, easily exceed $1,000. Therefore, our phones, which are valuable even as spare parts, are frequently targeted by thieves. Moreover, I’m not even mentioning the personal information they contain. Everything from financial management to our precious memories is stored in these devices. The upcoming iOS 17.3 update is aware of this situation and provides a solution.

Actually, iOS already offers a “Lost Mode” for stolen devices. However, in some cases, the information obtained allows bypassing this mode. For example, scammers can take advantage of users’ immediate excitement through simple methods such as posing as the police and saying, “We found your stolen device, let’s verify your password.” This allows them to reset the phone. Fortunately, “stolen device protection” will prevent this situation.

Thanks to the iOS 17.3 update, when the “Lost Mode” is activated, your iPhone will require biometric authentication for every critical operation. Logging into your banking app? Great, use Face ID. Want to reset your phone? Perfect, authenticate with Face ID beforehand. This simple yet effective method will safeguard your phone even in a frightening scenario, such as the unauthorized access to your personal data and phone. We will have to wait a while to use the feature, which is still in beta phase.
