Apple Releases iOS 17.3 Update

The iOS 17.3 update brings a new feature called Stolen Device Protection (SDP). This new security addition for iPhones makes it significantly more difficult for thieves to access your sensitive information, even if they get hold of your passcode. Given the constant advancements in fraudster tactics, this proves to be a highly valuable feature.

The iOS 17.3 update brings a new feature to our lives: collaborative playlists. Now, you can invite friends to join your playlist, and everyone can add, reorder, and remove songs. For additional details, check out Apple’s update notes:

Stolen Device Protection

• Stolen Device Protection increases security of iPhone and Apple ID by requiring Face ID or Touch ID with no passcode fallback to perform certain actions
• Security Delay requires Face ID or Touch ID, an hour wait, and then an additional successful biometric authentication before sensitive operations like changing device passcode or Apple ID password can be performed

Lock Screen

• New Unity wallpaper honors Black history and culture in celebration of Black History Month

Music

• Collaborate on playlists allows you to invite friends to join your playlist and everyone can add, reorder, and remove songs
• Emoji reactions can be added to any track in a collaborative playlist

This update also includes the following improvements:

• AirPlay hotel support lets you stream content directly to the TV in your room in select hotels
• AppleCare & Warranty in Settings shows your coverage for all devices signed in with your Apple ID
• Crash detection optimizations (all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models)

Some features may not be available for all regions or on all Apple devices. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website.

As the world anticipates Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC23), rumors are beginning to circulate about the company’s upcoming software releases. While Apple has been relatively quiet about its plans, recent leaks suggest that iOS 17 will be a major focus of the event, alongside updates for iPadOS and macOS.

With so much speculation surrounding the upcoming release, it’s unclear exactly what features and improvements will make the final cut. While there haven’t been any major leaks yet, early information from Setsuna Digital via Weibo suggests that iOS 17 could bring some improvements.

Rumored features of iOS 17:

According to the leak, the flashlight toggle on iOS 17 will have more granular control over brightness, while the Lock Screen will have more customization options, such as font sizes and emoji wallpaper. Users will also reportedly have the ability to share custom Lock Screen configurations. Additionally, Apple Music could undergo a revamp, moving away from text and towards graphics, and featuring lyrics on the Lock Screen.

One of the most exciting rumored changes is the ability to customize and organize the App Library, giving users more control over how they access their apps. Another potential change is a revamped Control Center, which could give users the freedom to customize shortcuts and other features.

While some users have been hoping for the ability to sideload apps on iOS 17, it’s unclear if this feature will make it to the final release. However, with the EU pressuring Apple to introduce such an option in Europe, there’s a chance that this could become a reality.

Overall, while the rumored changes to iOS 17 may not be groundbreaking, they could still offer some much-needed quality-of-life improvements for users. Apple is set to announce iOS 17 at WWDC on June 5. Developers will have access to the beta version immediately after the keynote, while a public beta is expected in July.
