Apple recently launched its new iPad Pro models in the market in two screen sizes — 11-inch and 12.9-inch, both powered by the Apple Silicon M1 chipset. The 12.9-inch model also features a Mini-LED display.

The variant with the bigger screen is set to launch in the second half of this year but the orders place today on the company’s own online store in the United States are estimated to deliver as late as mid-July — about two months later, reports MacRumors.

However, this is not the case for the 11-inch model as some configurations of the tablet are available for delivery by the end of this month.

The reason behind delayed shipments of the Apple iPad Pro 2021 with a 12.9-inch display seems to the suppliers of the panel reportedly facing yield issues for the production. On top of that, the industry is also facing a global chip shortage and it seems that the issues could last into next year.

It’s likely that the iPad Pro is facing these issues given that the device was launched in April this year and the shipment estimates are for July this year, underscoring the supply chain and production issues faced by the company.

The same is the case with the new iMac 2021 as many configurations are showing shipments for mid-to-late June in the United States while the four-pack of Apple AirTag will be arriving in mid-June.

Apple’s 2020 iPad Pro models feature an A12Z Bionic chipset which is a variation of the A12 Bionic utilized on the flagship iPhone 11 series. This year, the company turned things around as the iPad Pro 2020 is unveiled packing an M1 chipset.

Remember the M1? The powerful chip designed for Mac was first announced last year and found its way into the MacBook Air and MacBook 13 Pro. The chipset is a powerhouse CPU packing an innovative design and performance. The processor is said to bring up to 50% improvement in performance compared to the A12Z. The GPU performance is also bumped up by 40%. The processor is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and you can get up to 2TB of storage on the tablet.

In terms of the display, the iPad Pro 2021 is available in two screen sizes; an 11-inch model that utilizes an LCD display and a 12.9-inch model equipped with a mini-LED screen which Apple calls Liquid Retina XDR display. The mini-LED screen has a peak brightness of 1,600 nits and 1,000 nits full-screen brightness. It also features support for HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG imaging formats.

On the other hand, the LCD screen manages a peak brightness of 600 nits. The screen retans support for True Tone and features the DCI-P3 color gamut. The two displays come with a 120Hz refresh rate which Apple calls ProMotion.

Further, connectivity is improved on the iPad Pro 2021 models as they now support 5G connectivity. This is the first time Apple is releasing its tablet with 5G support. The 5G variants features an eSIM.

For photography, the slate packs a 12MP TrueDepth camera as well as an ultrawide-angle lens with 122º field of view up front. The wide FOV enables a feature which Apple calls Center Stage. Ho this works is that the tablet can zoom in and pan to keep the subject in the centre of the frame when in a video call. Also, if there are two subjects, it will zoom out to keep both subjects at the centre of the frame. The rear aspect features a dual camera setup which is a 12MP main sensor and a 10MP ultrawide sensor. There is also a LiDAR scanner that helps with autofocus in low-light.

As for the pricing, the iPad Pro 12.9 starts at $1,099 for the 4G version and $1,299 for the 5G version. On the other hand, the 11-inch model starts at $799 while the WiFi+cellular version will retail for $999.

The Apple iPad Pro lineup is probably the best tablet series in the world. Apple advertises it as a replacement for laptops. Like any other product, it also gets updated with new hardware and design every now and then.

The latest iPad Pro models were released in the first half of 2020. Apple is reported to announce a newer model at around the same time this year. Ahead of its official announcement, this tablet’s design has now leaked via 3D CAD renders.

The 3D CAD renders of iPad Pro 2021 come from the source of 91Mobiles. Sadly, the publication did not get access to the specs of this premium Apple tablet except for its display, which is said to be 12.9-inch. Hence, let us only take a look at the design in this article.

Going by the renders, the upcoming iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2021 will come with the same design as its predecessor. Hence, it will arrive with squared-off edges and a dual-camera setup along with a LiDAR sensor and LED flash.

The top side of the tablet will include the power key and dual-speaker grille. Whereas, the bottom position will consist of another dual-speaker speaker grille and USB Type-C port. Further, the right side will sport volume keys and a magnetic connector to charge Apple Pencil. Lastly, apart from the cameras, the rear side of the new iPad Pro will also house Smart Connector pins for keyboard accessories.

As far as specifications are concerned, the upcoming iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2021 could be the first in the series to feature a mini-LED panel, according to multiple reports. Also, we can expect it to be powered by a beefed-up version of the 5nm A14 Bionic chipset. Unfortunately, that’s all we can speculate for now but we do expect more leaks to follow soon revealing more about this high-end tablet.
