<p>The premium tablet market is becoming more competitive, with OnePlus pushing into high-end territory while Apple continues to dominate the professional segment. The OnePlus Pad 4 focuses on delivering a massive display, flagship Snapdragon performance, and huge battery life at a lower price. Meanwhile, the iPad Pro 11 (2025) offers Apple&#8217;s latest M5 chip, a premium OLED display, and deep integration with the Apple ecosystem. Here&#8217;s how they compare.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="774" height="493" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-8.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-740625" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-8.png 774w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-8-300x191.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-8-768x489.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-8-696x443.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-8-659x420.png 659w" sizes="(max-width: 774px) 100vw, 774px" /></figure></div>

<h2><strong>Design and Display</strong></h2>

<h3><strong>Build Quality</strong></h3>

<p>The OnePlus Pad 4 is built from aluminum with a glass front and feels every bit like a premium flagship tablet. However, its larger 13.2-inch form factor makes it noticeably bigger and heavier at 672g. It is designed more for desk use, productivity, and media consumption than for frequent handheld use.</p>

<p>Apple takes a different approach with the iPad Pro 11. Despite its premium aluminum construction, it remains incredibly thin at just 5.3mm and weighs only 444g. The compact size makes it easier to carry and more comfortable for extended handheld use. The availability of a cellular model with eSIM support also adds flexibility for professionals on the move.</p>

<h3><strong>Display &amp; Multimedia</strong></h3>

<p>OnePlus counters with a huge 13.2-inch IPS LCD panel featuring a sharp 2400 × 3392 resolution, Dolby Vision support, and a fast 144Hz refresh rate. The larger canvas is excellent for multitasking, gaming, and video consumption, while the 8-speaker system delivers a more immersive audio experience.</p>

<p>Apple&#8217;s 11-inch Ultra Retina Tandem OLED display remains one of the best screens available on any tablet. It offers deeper blacks, superior HDR performance, up to 1600 nits peak brightness, and exceptional color accuracy. While the screen is smaller, the overall visual quality is clearly more premium.</p>

<h3><strong>Verdict</strong></h3>

<p>Users who prioritize screen size and cinematic entertainment will likely prefer the OnePlus Pad 4. However, Apple&#8217;s OLED panel, lighter design, and premium display technologies make the iPad Pro 11 the stronger overall display package.</p>

<p><strong>Winner: iPad Pro 11 (2025)</strong></p>

<h2><strong>Performance and Software</strong></h2>

<h3><strong>Processor &amp; UI Smoothness</strong></h3>

<p>The OnePlus Pad 4 is powered by Qualcomm&#8217;s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset paired with UFS 4.1 storage. Combined with OxygenOS 16 and Android 16, performance should be exceptional for gaming, multitasking, and demanding productivity workloads. The 144Hz display further enhances responsiveness throughout the interface.</p>

<p>Apple&#8217;s M5 chip operates on a different level. Derived from Apple&#8217;s desktop-class silicon, it delivers laptop-grade performance that few tablets can match. Whether editing 4K video, rendering graphics, or handling professional creative workloads, the M5 maintains a clear advantage. The higher-end variants with 16GB RAM further strengthen its position for power users.</p>

<h3><strong>Productivity &amp; Multitasking</strong></h3>

<p>OnePlus has significantly improved multitasking features in OxygenOS, and the larger display naturally helps when working with multiple apps. Android&#8217;s flexibility also allows easier file management and customization.</p>

<p>The iPad Pro benefits from iPadOS 26, Stage Manager, and a mature ecosystem of professional applications. Creative professionals, designers, and video editors still have access to some of the most optimized tablet software available.</p>

<h3><strong>Verdict</strong></h3>

<p>The OnePlus Pad 4 delivers flagship Android performance and should satisfy nearly every user. However, Apple&#8217;s M5 chip and software ecosystem continue to set the benchmark for serious productivity and creative workloads.</p>

<p><strong>Winner: iPad Pro 11 (2025)</strong></p>

<h2><strong>Battery and Accessories</strong></h2>

<h3><strong>Battery Life</strong></h3>

<p>Battery capacity is one of the biggest strengths of the OnePlus Pad 4. Its massive 13,380mAh battery significantly exceeds the iPad Pro&#8217;s 8,160mAh cell and should provide excellent endurance for media consumption, gaming, and productivity sessions. The inclusion of 80W wired charging is another major advantage, allowing quick top-ups when needed.</p>

<p>Apple relies more on efficiency than battery size. Thanks to the M5 chipset and iPadOS optimization, battery life remains strong despite the smaller capacity. For most users, a full day of productivity is realistic, but charging speeds are noticeably slower.</p>

<h3><strong>Stylus, Keyboard &amp; Ecosystem</strong></h3>

<p>Both tablets support stylus input and keyboard accessories. OnePlus continues improving its accessory lineup, offering a capable productivity experience for Android users.</p>

<p>Apple&#8217;s ecosystem remains the gold standard. Features such as seamless integration with Macs, iPhones, AirPods, and Apple Pencil create a workflow that is difficult for competitors to replicate. Professionals already invested in Apple&#8217;s ecosystem gain substantial benefits.</p>

<h3><strong>Verdict</strong></h3>

<p>The OnePlus Pad 4 wins on battery capacity and charging speed, making it the more practical choice for heavy daily use. Apple retains the ecosystem advantage, but pure battery value clearly favors OnePlus.</p>

<p><strong>Winner: OnePlus Pad 4</strong></p>

<h2><strong>Camera &amp; Media</strong></h2>

<h3><strong>Rear and Front Camera</strong></h3>

<p>Tablet cameras are rarely a primary selling point, but Apple still delivers a stronger setup. The iPad Pro features a 12MP rear camera with dual-pixel PDAF and a LiDAR scanner, enabling better focus performance and advanced AR experiences. The 12MP ultrawide front camera also provides superior quality for video calls and content creation.</p>

<p>The OnePlus Pad 4 includes a basic 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. They are perfectly adequate for scanning documents, online meetings, and occasional photography, but they do not target professional use.</p>

<h3><strong>Video &amp; Audio Quality</strong></h3>

<p>Apple supports ProRes recording, multiple frame-rate options, HDR video capture, and advanced stabilization features. Content creators benefit from a much more versatile camera system.</p>

<p>OnePlus responds with an impressive 8-speaker setup that delivers richer and more immersive sound than many competing tablets. Movie watchers and gamers may appreciate this advantage more than camera upgrades.</p>

<h3><strong>Verdict</strong></h3>

<p>Apple provides better cameras, stronger video capabilities, and more advanced imaging features. OnePlus wins on speaker count, but the overall media creation experience still belongs to the iPad Pro.</p>

<p><strong>Winner: iPad Pro 11 (2025)</strong></p>

<h2><strong>Pricing</strong></h2>

<p>The OnePlus Pad 4 starts at approximately <strong>$700 (₹60,000)</strong>, while the iPad Pro 11 (2025) starts around <strong>$1,000 (₹100,000)</strong>.</p>

<p>This creates a substantial price gap of roughly <strong>$300 (₹40,000)</strong>. For many buyers, the OnePlus delivers flagship-level performance, a larger display, faster charging, and significantly better battery capacity while costing much less. The value proposition is difficult to ignore.</p>

<p>Apple justifies its premium through the M5 chip, OLED display technology, professional software ecosystem, superior cameras, and tighter hardware-software integration. However, not every user will fully utilize those advantages.</p>

<h3><strong>Verdict</strong></h3>

<p>For value-focused buyers, the OnePlus Pad 4 offers considerably more hardware per dollar. Apple remains the premium choice, but OnePlus delivers the stronger price-to-performance ratio.</p>

<p><strong>Winner: OnePlus Pad 4</strong></p>

<p><strong><em>Disclaimer:</em></strong><strong><em><br></em></strong><em>Prices are approximate and may vary based on country, region, launch timing, and applicable taxes. Always check whether the listed price is for a China unit or a global/international variant when purchasing.</em></p>

<h2><strong>Conclusion</strong></h2>

<p>The OnePlus Pad 4 stands out with its massive 13.2-inch display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, huge 13,380mAh battery, 80W fast charging, and immersive 8-speaker system. It is clearly designed for users who want maximum hardware value and entertainment capabilities.</p>

<p>The iPad Pro 11 (2025) distinguishes itself through the Apple M5 processor, Ultra Retina Tandem OLED display, professional-grade software ecosystem, advanced cameras, Thunderbolt connectivity, and exceptional portability. It remains one of the most capable tablets available for creative and professional work.</p>

<h3><strong>Verdict</strong></h3>

<p>If the goal is getting the most hardware and battery life for the money, the OnePlus Pad 4 is the smarter purchase. Its larger display, faster charging, and lower price make it incredibly appealing.</p>

<p>For professionals, creators, and users deeply invested in Apple&#8217;s ecosystem, the iPad Pro 11 (2025) remains the most complete premium tablet experience despite its higher cost.</p>

<p><strong>Overall Winner: </strong>OnePlus Pad 4 for Value<br>                           iPad Pro 11 (2025) for Ultimate Performance and Professional Use</p>

<p><strong><em>Disclaimer: </em></strong><em>This comparison is based on the specifications provided and is intended for general informational purposes. <p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Apple</a> is reportedly preparing a significant software overhaul, aiming to unify its ecosystem and refresh the user experience across iPhones, iPads, and Macs. This ambitious project, slated for release later this year, will introduce a revamped interface with redesigned icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons, drawing inspiration from the Vision Pro&#8217;s innovative visionOS.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="980" height="551" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Apple-VisionOS.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple VisionOS" class="wp-image-676687" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Apple-VisionOS.jpg 980w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Apple-VisionOS-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Apple-VisionOS-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Apple-VisionOS-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Apple-VisionOS-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px" /></figure></div>

<h2>Major Redesign Rumored to Reshape Apple Ecosystem</h2>

<p>According to sources, this redesign, code-named &#8220;Luck&#8221; for iOS 19 and iPadOS 19, and &#8220;Cheer&#8221; for macOS 16, will be Apple&#8217;s most substantial interface update in years. It seeks to create a more consistent visual language across all platforms, addressing the current discrepancies that can make transitioning between devices jarring.</p>

<p>While the design will incorporate elements from visionOS, such as simplified windows and translucent panels, Apple emphasizes it will not merge its operating systems. Instead, the focus is on achieving visual harmony and simplifying navigation while maintaining the distinct advantages of each platform.</p>

<p>This overhaul comes at a crucial time for Apple, as the company seeks to revitalize sales following a period of slower growth. The new interface is expected to be a key highlight at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, potentially overshadowing the recent delay of AI-powered Siri enhancements.</p>

<p>The changes are driven by a desire to provide a more intuitive and seamless user experience, addressing the evolving needs of a new generation of users. Apple&#8217;s design team, under Alan Dye, is working diligently to ensure the redesign strikes a balance between innovation and familiarity, recognizing the high stakes involved in altering the core interface of its widely used devices.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Apple also introduced its latest lineup of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/03/06/apples-new-macbook-air-m4-is-here-with-apple-intelligence-better-battery-life-and-a-lower-price/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MacBook Air</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/03/04/apple-launch-ipad-air-india-rs59900/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">iPad Air</a> models last week, featuring improved performance and AI-driven capabilities aimed at enhancing productivity and user experience.</p>

<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> may have a big<a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/ipad"> iPad</a> reveal coming in early May, as covered previously <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/12/30/apple-oled-ipad-pro-2024/">here</a>. Now, it looks like new iPads aren&#8217;t the only stars of the show. Here&#8217;s what the rumor mill is churning out.</p>

<p>Digging through the iPadOS 17.5 developer beta, folks at <a href="https://9to5mac.com/2024/04/02/squeeze-gesture-apple-pencil-3/">9to5Mac</a> unearthed clues about a possible <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/apple-pencil-3">Apple Pencil 3.</a> The big feature? A &#8220;squeeze&#8221; gesture that might let you instantly add stuff like images, signatures, or text boxes to your notes or drawings. This is a major upgrade over the current<a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/apple-pencil-2"> Pencil 2</a>, which only detects pressure on the tip, not the body. The most recent update to the Find My app now supports pairing with unreleased hardware, possibly the Pencil 3, meaning you might soon track down your lost stylus. Plus, iPadOS 17.4 introduced a new PencilKit API (a tool for developers to make apps Pencil-friendly). While details are scarce, rumors whisper about features like interchangeable magnetic tips for the Pencil 3.</p>

<h3>Aside from the Pencil 3 report, Apple might also unveil a new magic keyboard</h3>

<p>Bloomberg&#8217;s report aligns with these rumors, suggesting a major Apple iPad launch event in early May. This event might not just be about the tablets themselves &#8211; a new Apple Pencil 3 and a redesigned Magic Keyboard are also rumored to be crashing the party. The new <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/magic-keyboard">Magic Keyboard</a> could offer a more laptop-like experience, ideal for those who use their iPads for work.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Apple-Pencil-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-575706" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Apple-Pencil-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Apple-Pencil-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Apple-Pencil-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Apple-Pencil-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Apple-Pencil-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Apple-Pencil-1068x600.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Apple-Pencil-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Apple-Pencil-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Apple-Pencil.jpg 1960w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The rumor mill is also buzzing about the specs of these new iPads. The iPad Pro might get a sleek redesign with an <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oled">OLED</a> display and a powerful M3 chip, marking a significant performance boost. We <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/03/16/apple-oled-ipad-foldable-iphone/">previously covered a piece </a>on Apple refreshing its iPad lineup with OLED displays, it seems we might be closer to the timeline than we thought. The <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/ipad-air">iPad Air</a>, on the other hand, might keep its current design but get an upgrade to the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/m2">M2</a> chip. </p>

<p>With all these leaks swirling around, it&#8217;s clear Apple&#8217;s upcoming iPad lineup could bring some exciting features. Stay tuned for the official reveal in May (or so we hope)!</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Apple </a>has released a new security update for its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">iPhone</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipad/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">iPad</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/macbook/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MacBook</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-watch/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Apple Watch</a> to address two zero-day vulnerabilities. Zero-day vulnerabilities are security flaws that are unknown to the software vendor and have not yet been patched. This makes them a serious threat, as attackers can exploit them without any resistance from the software.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="536" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/iPhone-iOS-16.6.1-Zero-Day-vulnerability-update-1024x536.jpg?x44794" alt="iPhone iOS 16.6.1 Zero Day vulnerability update" class="wp-image-565431" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/iPhone-iOS-16.6.1-Zero-Day-vulnerability-update-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/iPhone-iOS-16.6.1-Zero-Day-vulnerability-update-300x157.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/iPhone-iOS-16.6.1-Zero-Day-vulnerability-update-768x402.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/iPhone-iOS-16.6.1-Zero-Day-vulnerability-update-696x364.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/iPhone-iOS-16.6.1-Zero-Day-vulnerability-update-1068x559.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/iPhone-iOS-16.6.1-Zero-Day-vulnerability-update-803x420.jpg 803w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/iPhone-iOS-16.6.1-Zero-Day-vulnerability-update.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The vulnerabilities addressed in the latest update are CVE-2023-41064 and CVE-2023-41061. They allow attackers to install malware on a device by loading a malicious image or attachment. The malware can then be used to steal data, track the user&#8217;s location, or take control of the device.</p>

<p>These vulnerabilities were first reported by the Citizen Lab, a spyware research group, at the Munk School of Global Affairs &amp; Public Policy at the University of Toronto. Citizen Lab says that the vulnerabilities were being used to install NSO Group&#8217;s Pegasus mercenary spyware onto the iPhone. Not in the know, Pegasus is a powerful spyware tool that infects a phone and sends back data, including photos, messages, and audio / video recordings.</p>

<p>So it&#8217;s recommended that all users update their devices to the latest version of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ios/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">iOS</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipados/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">iPadOS</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/macos/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">macOS</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/watchos/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">watchOS</a> as soon as possible. The updates can be downloaded from the Settings app.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This is the second zero-day vulnerability that Apple has patched in recent months. In July, Apple released an update to address a zero-day vulnerability that was being exploited by attackers to install malware on iPhones and iPads.</p>

<p>The frequency of zero-day vulnerabilities is increasing, and it is important for users to keep their devices up to date with the latest security patches. By doing so, they can help to protect themselves from these serious threats.</p>

<p>In anticipation of the upcoming <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/wwdc-2023">Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC),</a> Apple has surprised users with a new batch of major OS updates. The tech giant recently rolled out <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/ios">iOS</a> 16.5,<a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/ipados"> iPadOS</a> 16.5, and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/macos">macOS</a> 13.4, each packed with exciting features for sports enthusiasts. Notably, all three updates introduce a dedicated Apple News section solely focused on sports, allowing users to stay updated on rankings, scores, and captivating stories without the hassle of sifting through unrelated articles.</p>

<h3>The Latest Apple Update focuses on a dedicated News section for Sports</h3>

<p>To further enhance the sports viewing experience, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/appletv">Apple TV</a> <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/4K">4K</a> users can now enjoy the Multiview feature within the TV app. This innovative addition enables users to simultaneously stream up to four sports events. However, it remains uncertain whether third-party services will be supported in this feature.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="533" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/iPhone-14-and-iPhone-14-Plus-1536x799-1-1024x533.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple" class="wp-image-538104" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/iPhone-14-and-iPhone-14-Plus-1536x799-1-1024x533.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/iPhone-14-and-iPhone-14-Plus-1536x799-1-300x156.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/iPhone-14-and-iPhone-14-Plus-1536x799-1-768x400.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/iPhone-14-and-iPhone-14-Plus-1536x799-1-696x362.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/iPhone-14-and-iPhone-14-Plus-1536x799-1-1068x556.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/iPhone-14-and-iPhone-14-Plus-1536x799-1-807x420.jpg 807w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/iPhone-14-and-iPhone-14-Plus-1536x799-1.jpg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>While these new features steal the spotlight, other improvements are also noteworthy. iOS 16.5 and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/watchos">watchOS </a>9.5 bring a touch of inclusivity with the addition of Pride-themed wallpaper and watch face options. These vibrant customization options celebrate diversity and allow users to express their support for the LGBTQ+ community. Moreover, the updates include various bug fixes, addressing issues such as CarPlay and Spotlight on iOS, as well as Screen Time syncing on multiple platforms.</p>

<p>Rumors suggest that Apple&#8217;s OS updates are far from over. Sources indicate that iOS 16.6 is currently undergoing private testing and may even offer a public beta in the near future. As Apple gradually wraps up work on its current software, it is clear that the company is gearing up to deliver major updates this fall.</p>

<p>With these latest OS updates, Apple continues to cater to the diverse interests of its user base. The company recently unveiled a huge list of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/17/apple-accessibility-features-preview/">accessibility-centred updates</a> to its OS. By introducing dedicated sports sections, enhancing the sports streaming experience, and embracing inclusivity with Pride-themed options, Apple demonstrates its commitment to providing a seamless and personalized user experience. As users eagerly await future unveils, Apple&#8217;s dedication to diverse updates remains unwavering.</p>

<p>iPadOS is a dedicated operating system designed by Apple specifically for their iPad devices. It is built on the same foundation as iOS, the operating system used for <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/iphone">iPhones</a>, but has been optimized for the larger screen size and more powerful hardware of the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/ipad">iPad</a>. iPadOS includes a variety of features that make it easier to multitask, navigate the interface, and use the Apple Pencil for drawing and note-taking. Some of the key features of <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/ipados">iPadOS</a> include an accessible home screen layout, improved split-view multitasking and more. However, users with older iPads might not be happy with recent news, since reports have stated that more iPads will possibly lose iPadOS support this year.</p>

<h3>9.7-inch &amp; 12.9-inch iPad Pro Models will lose support first</h3>

<p>According to a report from iPhoneSoft, owners of the first 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models will not be able to use the upcoming iPadOS 17. As Apple often drops support for older device models with new operating systems, the latest major release seems to be following suit with the iPad family. The first-generation iPad Pro models, equipped with the A9X chip and the fifth-generation iPad with the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/a9">A9</a> chip will remain on iPadOS 16, according to the anonymous source. This means iPadOS will now align with iOS, which also dropped support for the A9 chip when it released <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/iOS-16">iOS 16</a>, leaving <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-6s">iPhone 6s</a> models behind.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="531" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/iPadOS-16-1536x797-1-1024x531.jpeg?x44794" alt="iPadOS" class="wp-image-532086" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/iPadOS-16-1536x797-1-1024x531.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/iPadOS-16-1536x797-1-300x156.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/iPadOS-16-1536x797-1-768x399.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/iPadOS-16-1536x797-1-696x361.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/iPadOS-16-1536x797-1-1068x554.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/iPadOS-16-1536x797-1-809x420.jpeg 809w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/iPadOS-16-1536x797-1.jpeg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Usually, Apple drops support for models when introducing new features, and leaves them with the previous generation release. They tend to still receive updates for security, albeit at a slower rate. Although <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/iOS-17">iOS 17</a> is said to focus on stability rather than features, it remains to be seen if Apple will change its mind and continue to support the models before its <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/wwdc">WWDC</a> 2023 introductions.</p>

<p>Now, in line with the previous reports, the Cupertino-based technology giant has rolled out the latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipados-16">iPadOS 16</a> version for the iPad models, and it is now available for eligible devices.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="531" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/iPadOS-16-1024x531.jpeg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-492082" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/iPadOS-16-1024x531.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/iPadOS-16-300x156.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/iPadOS-16-768x398.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/iPadOS-16-1536x797.jpeg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/iPadOS-16-2048x1063.jpeg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/iPadOS-16-696x361.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/iPadOS-16-1068x554.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/iPadOS-16-1920x996.jpeg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/iPadOS-16-810x420.jpeg 810w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Apple iPadOS 16.1</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>While the company has not confirmed this, reports indicate that the official release of the iPadOS 16 was delayed because the company needed more time to polish some of the features, like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/stage-manager">Stage Manager</a> for multitasking. It&#8217;s noteworthy that the company has skipped the public release of the iPadOS 16 and has released the iPadOS 16.1.</p>

<p>The rollout of the latest version of the software for its tablets comes at a time when the company is now all set to start shipping the newly announced 10th generation iPad and the iPad Pro models powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-m2">M2 processor</a>.</p>

<p>The highlight of this new version is the revamped multitasking experience called Stage Manager, which automatically organizes apps and windows and allows users to overlap windows of different sizes, drag and drop windows, and much more. It also comes with new Messages features, a suite of smart tools for Mail, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/icloud">iCloud</a> Shared Photo Library, new features for Safari, Weather application, and more.</p>

<p>Apple generally rolls out the software update to everyone instead of releasing it in phases, so if you have an eligible device, then you should get a prompt to update the device, or you can manually check for the new update from the Settings app.</p>

Breaking its tradition this time, the company didn&#8217;t release <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipados-16">iPadOS 16</a> along with iOS.</p>
<p>Now, the company is gearing up to release the new iPadOS for iPad users. According to the <a href="https://twitter.com/markgurman/status/1579606773811798016">report from <em>Mark Gurman</em></a> of Bloomberg, Apple is all set to release a new iPadOS 16.1 update for all the eligible models in the coming days.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-490531 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/ipados-16.png?x44794" alt="Apple iPadOS 16" width="1200" height="630" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/ipados-16.png 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/ipados-16-300x158.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/ipados-16-1024x538.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/ipados-16-768x403.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/ipados-16-696x365.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/ipados-16-1068x561.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/ipados-16-800x420.png 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>If the rumors are to be believed, then the iPadOS 16.1 will be released on 24th October, and yes, it will be iPadOS 16.1 and not 16 as the company has already confirmed that it will skip version 16 and will directly roll out the 16.1 version.</p>
<p>Do note that Apple has not yet confirmed the launch date for the new version of iPadOS, but Mark Gurman is usually right when it comes to news and developments of Apple. The company had said that it would be released in October but hadn&#8217;t provided a specific date.</p>
<p>The new update will be compatible with all the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-ipad-pro">iPad Pro</a> models, the third-generation iPad Air and later, the fifth-generation iPad Mini and later, as well as the fifth-generation of Apple iPad and later.</p>
<p>There are also reports indicating that the Cupertino-based technology giant is planning to announce new hardware products later this month, which will include a new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-m2">M2-powered</a> iPad Pro model, a new entry-level iPad, and new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-macbook-pro">Apple MacBook Pro</a> models powered by the yet unannounced M2 Pro and M2 Max processors but the date for this launch event has not been announced by Apple.</p>

<p>Apple has confirmed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipados">iPadOS</a> 16 won&#8217;t be getting a public release until after the iOS 16 for smartphones starts being rolled out to the users. In a <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2022/08/23/apple-delivers-ipados-16-1-beta-ahead-of-ios-16-fall-release/">statement to <em>TechCrunch</em></a>, the company said: &#8220;We have the flexibility to deliver iPadOS on its own schedule. This Fall, iPadOS will ship after iOS, as version 16.1 in a free software update.”</p>
<p>So far, the Cupertino-based tech giant has released the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ios">iOS</a> and iPadOS together, but there was always a possibility of Apple changing the release schedule for the iPadOS ever since the software was split out of iOS into a separate entity few years back.</p>
<p>The confirmation about the delayed rollout of the new iPadOS comes amid rumors of this happening as the company is expected to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/08/16/apple-ipad-launch-event-october-rumors/">host a separate product launch event</a> for the new entry-level iPad as well as the iPad Pro in October. Typically, Apple announces the new iPad models along with the iPhone models in September.</p>
<p>There are also concerns about some of the new features of the iPadOS that were announced when the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/software">software</a> was unveiled. Many users have complained about some of the new features, including the Stage Manager for multitasking, urging Apple to delay the stable version rollout until it&#8217;s fixed.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">This news comes from the folks over at </span><a href="https://www.patentlyapple.com/2022/05/apple-wins-a-patent-for-a-next-gen-hinged-keyboard-ipad-accessory-with-multiple-modes-that-could-possibly-double-as-a-hybrid-.html"><span style="font-weight: 400">Patently Apple</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, as the team had discovered on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office database that </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Apple</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> was recently awarded a detachable laptop-like </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipad/"><span style="font-weight: 400">iPad</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> experience, running on a </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/macos/"><span style="font-weight: 400">macOS</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">-like experience.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Let’s start off with the form factor, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipad/"><span style="font-weight: 400">iPad</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> shown off the patent is a tablet and has a hinged keyboard accessory(which does not look like the Magic Keyboard) that allows the tablet to be seamlessly mounted onto the keyboard via a specialised coupling mechanism. The keyboard also works as a case that protects the iPad screen from external conditions, similar to what you will find on a laptop.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Next is the software experience, according to the patent illustrations, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipad/"><span style="font-weight: 400">iPad</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> will feature a </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/macos/"><span style="font-weight: 400">macOS</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">-like user interface to elevate the user experience with the keyboard. However, will this affect your current </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipados/"><span style="font-weight: 400">iPadOS</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> experience as an </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Apple</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> user? The patent also addresses that problem as well, as it seems that the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/macos/"><span style="font-weight: 400">macOS</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">-like user interface is available when mounted to the keyboard and that your conventional current </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipados/"><span style="font-weight: 400">iPadOS</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> user interface is also available when not mounted to the keyboard.</span></p>
<p><figure id="attachment_458565" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-458565" style="width: 896px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-458565" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Apple-ipad-macos-patent.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple-ipad-macos-patent" width="896" height="646" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Apple-ipad-macos-patent.jpg 896w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Apple-ipad-macos-patent-300x216.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Apple-ipad-macos-patent-768x554.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Apple-ipad-macos-patent-324x235.jpg 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Apple-ipad-macos-patent-696x502.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Apple-ipad-macos-patent-583x420.jpg 583w" sizes="(max-width: 896px) 100vw, 896px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-458565" class="wp-caption-text">Patent Illustrations. <p><span style="font-weight: 400">Another additional detail the patent reveals is also that the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Apple</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> Pencil can now be housed within the hinge that mounts the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipad/"><span style="font-weight: 400">iPad</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> to the keyboard. The port connection interface like USB-C will also be installed onto the hinge. </span></p>
<p><figure id="attachment_458566" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-458566" style="width: 1194px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-458566" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/apple-ipad-detachable-patent-2.jpg?x44794" alt="apple-ipad-detachable-patent-2" width="1194" height="1440" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/apple-ipad-detachable-patent-2.jpg 1194w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/apple-ipad-detachable-patent-2-249x300.jpg 249w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/apple-ipad-detachable-patent-2-768x926.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/apple-ipad-detachable-patent-2-849x1024.jpg 849w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/apple-ipad-detachable-patent-2-696x839.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/apple-ipad-detachable-patent-2-1068x1288.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/apple-ipad-detachable-patent-2-348x420.jpg 348w" sizes="(max-width: 1194px) 100vw, 1194px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-458566" class="wp-caption-text">Patent illustrations. Source: Patently Apple</figcaption></figure></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As for the camera, projectors, light and microphone, the patent reveals that </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Apple</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> is going with a rather odd approach as these features are seen as additional accessories instead, which are then mounted onto the hinge if needed, and dismounted when not.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Since the patents have been approved, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Apple</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> could start the testing and prototype phases of this technology soon. And hopefully, within the next few years, we can finally witness the ultimate merger between </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/macbook/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Macbook</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipad/"><span style="font-weight: 400">iPad</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> for all the professionals who are always on the go.</span></p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-428694 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/apple-app-store-featured-1024x511.jpeg?x44794" alt="apple app store featured" width="696" height="347" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/apple-app-store-featured-1024x511.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/apple-app-store-featured-300x150.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/apple-app-store-featured-768x383.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/apple-app-store-featured-696x347.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/apple-app-store-featured-1068x533.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/apple-app-store-featured-841x420.jpeg 841w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/apple-app-store-featured.jpeg 1889w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Cupertino-based tech giant also announced App Store Award winners, with children’s app maker Toca Boca winning iPhone App of the Year for “Toca Life World,” and Riot Games’ “League of Legends: Wild Rift” being declared the iPhone Game of the Year.</p>
<p>Typically, award winners are relative newcomers and are lauded for having taken advantage of Apple&#8217;s tech in innovative ways. However, with “Toca Life World,” the strategy seems to be a bit different this year. Its developer &#8211; Toca Boca &#8211; celebrated its ten-year anniversary this March, having released over 40 kids&#8217; apps. Apple has accordingly praised the app maker for “masterfully iterating on the art of play and self-expression for kids.”</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-428695 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/toca-life-world-boca-1024x410.png?x44794" alt="toca life world boca" width="696" height="279" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/toca-life-world-boca-1024x410.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/toca-life-world-boca-300x120.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/toca-life-world-boca-768x307.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/toca-life-world-boca-696x278.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/toca-life-world-boca-1068x427.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/toca-life-world-boca-1050x420.png 1050w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/toca-life-world-boca-1920x768.png 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/toca-life-world-boca.png 2000w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>The past year has been rather tough for the Apple App Store owing to increased regulatory scrutiny and various lawsuits concerning its commission-based business model. The Epic Games case, for example, is still ongoing. As a result, Apple was forced to reduce commission in some cases and even adjust its policies. But despite this, its overall quality of apps remains high, especially when compared to that of Android.</p>

<p>Despite the most powerful iPad and the MacBook being powered by the same chipset &#8212; <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-m1">Apple Silicon&#8217;s M1</a>, there&#8217;s remains one major issue &#8212; software. The Mac devices are powered by the macOS and the iPad is powered by the iPadOS which is a tweaked <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ios">iOS</a>.</p>
<p>In the iPadOS, the third-party applications are limited to using just 5GB of RAM even though the tablet comes powered by 8GB and 16GB RAM. This is to ensure that a single application doesn&#8217;t utilize all of the memory and impact other core system functions.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-385382 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/image.png?x44794" alt="Apple iPad Pro" width="817" height="435" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/image.png 817w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/image-300x160.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/image-768x409.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/image-696x371.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/image-789x420.png 789w" sizes="(max-width: 817px) 100vw, 817px" /></p>
<p>With the latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/06/08/apple-ios-15-ipados-15-watchos-8-macos-monterey-eligible-supported-devices/">iPadOS 15</a>, it appears that Apple <a href="https://developer.apple.com/documentation/bundleresources/entitlements/com_apple_developer_kernel_increased-memory-limit">has increased</a> the cap on RAM usage for third-party applications. In iPad Pro powered by 16GB RAM, developers can request 12GB of RAM while 4GB RAM will be reserved for the core system functions.</p>
<p>Similarly, for the device powered by 8GB RAM, the company is reserving 2GB RAM to system functions and allowing developers to use 6GB RAM. The iPad models with less than 5GB RAM will have the same limits as before.</p>
<p>The change in the memory allocation in iPadOS will be beneficial to applications that are more graphically intensive, such as apps that support drawing, modeling, photo editing or video editing, among others.</p>
<p>Apple has said that new entitlement will be available on the &#8220;supported devices&#8221; but the tech giant hasn&#8217;t revealed the list of supported devices, so at this point in time, it&#8217;s not known which devices will support it, apart from the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-ipad-pro-12-9-2021/">iPad Pro</a>.</p>
<p>The latest iPadOS 15 comes with some new features and several additions and improvements to the existing ones. The software is set to be released this Monday, i.e. 20th September along with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/06/08/apple-ios-15-improvements-facetime-apple-maps-few-other-tweaks/">iOS 15</a>, tvOS 15, and watchOS 8.</p>

Now, China&#8217;s first Linux based Distro (Distribution) called JingOS has just been unveiled and it aims to provide the same level of functionality that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipados/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPadOS</a> offers.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-366241 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/未标题-4.gif?x44794" alt="JingOS" width="600" height="375" /></p>
<p>JingOS was built with the idea of improving the functionality and productivity of a tablet overall. So, the team behind the new operating system took inspiration from the Cupertino based giant&#8217;s iPadOS platform to offer a simple/clean, yet productive and efficient UI design that can ensure that your tablets are a mini computer that one can work on, on the go. JingOS is not only a tablet OS but a full function Linux distro.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/17/top-stories-from-last-week-iqoo-7-and-galaxy-s21-series-launched-ces-2021-and-more/">Top stories from last week: iQOO 7 and Galaxy S21 series launched, CES 2021, and more</a></strong></h6>
<p>With productivity in mind, the OS also supports full mouse and keyboard support. Furthermore, the current selections of apps designed for this platform also support both touch mode and desktop mode. Meaning, one can use it in the form of a laptop and as a notebook. So for those looking for an iPad like experience for their tablets, JingOS might be the next best thing.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-366240 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/954475.jpg?x44794" alt="JingOS" width="660" height="248" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/954475.jpg 660w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/954475-300x113.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px" /></p>
<p>Notably, JingOS is also being developed for smartphones as well, and will be available before the end of this year, while the tablet variant will be launch before the end of this month. At the moment, the operating system is supported on just the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/matebook-14/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei MateBook 14</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/surface-pro-6/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Microsoft Surface 6</a>. Unfortunately, it has yet to be tested on other devices but the company aims to bring support for other tablets including ARM based ones as well in the near future.</p>

These updates bring a lot of new updates and fixes across the Cupertino-based company&#8217;s product ecosystem. For the iPhone, iOS 13.3 has been rolled out while the iPad receives iPadOS 13.3. <h4>The New iOS 13.3 &amp; iPadOS 13.3</h4>
<p>Apple has rolled out updates for two of its most popular platforms, namely the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipad/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPad</a>, in just under a month. Previously, the company had freshly introduced iOS 13.2.3 and iPadOS 13.2.3. The new update also brings many bug fixes and performance optimizations but also adds new features to the devices as well.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_294618" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-294618" style="width: 1413px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-294618 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-33.png?x44794" alt="iOS 13.3 &amp; iPadOS 13.3" width="1413" height="710" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-33.png 1413w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-33-300x151.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-33-768x386.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-33-1024x515.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-33-696x350.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-33-1068x537.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-33-836x420.png 836w" sizes="(max-width: 1413px) 100vw, 1413px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-294618" class="wp-caption-text">iOS 13.3 &amp; iPadOS 13.3 Screen Time feature for the iPhone and iPad</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>One of these is the new Parental control which provides additional communication limits to parents. This lets parents choose who their children can call, message or FaceTime. The new additions are an extension of the Screen Time feature which was introduced back in iOS 12 last year and lets parents directly manage contacts from their children&#8217;s devices. For those looking for this feature, it can be found through the Communication Limits section from the Screen Time settings.</p>
<p>Additionally, iOS 13.3 and iPadOS 13.3 brings support for NFC, USB, and Lightning FIDO2-compliant security keys. This can be used for securely browsing websites on Safari and other platforms like Dropbox, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/facebook/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Facebook</a>, Gmail, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/twitter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Twitter</a>. In other words, the update adds a physical security key to your iPhone and iPad which allows for better account privacy and protection across social media and emails.</p>

<p>Those seeking to update their iPhones and iPads can check if their devices have any pending updates by going to <strong>Settings</strong>&gt;<strong>General</strong>&gt;<strong>Software Update</strong>.<br />
<strong>Note</strong>: Make sure to have your device connected to a Wi-Fi and that it has an ample supply of battery life remaining.</p>

<h4>The New tvOS 13.3 and watchOS 6.1.1</h4>
<p>Alongside the iPhone and iPad update, Apple also rolled out software upgrades for its Apple TVs and its Apple Watches. tvOS 13.3 brings new settings that allow users to bring back the &#8220;Up Next&#8221; queue to your Apple TV home screen which was removed in tvOS 13. Now, users can switch between showing &#8220;What to Watch&#8221; and &#8220;Up Next&#8221; section.</p>
<p>Lastly, Apple launched watchOS 6.1.1 for every compatible Apple Watch models. The new update claims to provide &#8220;important security updates&#8221; but apart from this, it doesn&#8217;t bring any notable changes.</p>
<p>To download tvOS 13.3, users have to open <strong>Settings</strong>&gt;<strong>System</strong>&gt;<strong>Software Updates</strong>. For watchOS 6.1.1, users must look for My Watch Tab on the Watch app which is available in the iPhone and then visit <strong>General</strong>&gt;<strong>Software Updates</strong>.<br />
<strong>Note</strong>: Your Apple Watch should have at least 50 percent battery life remaining or charge it when updating.</p>
