<p>We have already reported that the vanilla and Max models will not be getting the ProMotion display(Apple’s marketing term for high refresh rate), and now, a new report from <a href="https://www.thelec.net/news/articleView.html?idxno=4141" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>The Elec</em></a> has revealed the type of panels that will be going on each of the models.</p>
<p>According to the report, the iPhone 14 (6.1-inch) and iPhone 14 Max (6.7-inch) will use LTPS backplanes. These will be made of the M11 material set. This is an exclusive material set that is currently used for the manufacturing of the Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra display panels.</p>
<p>The iPhone 14 Pro (6.1-inch) and the iPhone 14 Pro Max (6.7-inch) will use an LTPO display plane with ProMotion. The new panel will be made from Samsung&#8217;s M12 material set. This material set has not been used for any smartphone&#8217;s display panel yet and is set to debut with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4.</p>
<p>According to the report, All four iPhone 14 variants will have displays provided by Samsung, which has reportedly secured an order for 80 million screens. Additionally, LG will contribute by producing panels for both the standard iPhone 14 and the premium iPhone 14 Pro Max. The RS-L material set will be used to create them. With the previous RS-K set, LG was producing iPhone 13 panels last year.</p>

We know that the upcoming lineup will include an iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Now a new hands-on video has been put out by iUpdate which shows off the design of all four upcoming iPhone 14 models with dummy units.</p>
<p>There are already a few videos and reports that have revealed the design of the forthcoming iPhone 14 series. However, the recent video from Sam Kohl showcases some of the most realistic iPhone 14 dummies we’ve seen so far.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" title="Exclusive iPhone 14 Hands-On!" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qgbcTqPuUMs?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>As you can see in the video, the base model <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Apple-iPhone-14">iPhone 14</a> and iPhone 14 Max are pretty similar to the previous generation <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/Apple-iPhone-13">iPhone 13</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/Apple-iPhone-13-pro-max">iPhone 13 Pro Max</a>. They also have the same notch design, as well as the same aluminum edges. All in all, the standard and “Max” models do not carry much improvement when it comes to design.</p>
<p>The video does not reveal the screen panel of the smartphones. However, thanks to previous reports, we know that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iPhone-14-pro">iPhone 14 Pro</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iPhone-14-pro-max">Pro Max</a> may feature a new pill and punch-hole cut-outs.</p>
<figure id="attachment_465223" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-465223" style="width: 1352px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-465223 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/iPhone-14-dummies.jpg?x44794" alt="iPhone 14 dummies" width="1352" height="872" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/iPhone-14-dummies.jpg 1352w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/iPhone-14-dummies-300x193.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/iPhone-14-dummies-1024x660.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/iPhone-14-dummies-768x495.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/iPhone-14-dummies-696x449.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/iPhone-14-dummies-1068x689.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/iPhone-14-dummies-651x420.jpg 651w" sizes="(max-width: 1352px) 100vw, 1352px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-465223" class="wp-caption-text">Credit: iUpdate</figcaption></figure>
<p>It can be seen in the video that the camera bump is comparatively larger on the iPhone 14 Pro models. This is probably to accommodate bigger lenses.</p>
<p>Another interesting detail that can be spotted in the video is the ear speaker placement. In the iPhone 14 Pro, you can see that the ear speaker is present in the same spot as the iPhone 13 Pro.</p>
<p>The most-awaited iPhone 14 series is expected to launch this fall. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/">Apple</a> still hasn’t confirmed any details about the smartphones. We hope to learn more details about it in the coming days.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-455487 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iphone-14-molds.jpeg?x44794" alt="Apple" width="1600" height="1200" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iphone-14-molds.jpeg 1600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iphone-14-molds-300x225.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iphone-14-molds-768x576.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iphone-14-molds-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iphone-14-molds-80x60.jpeg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iphone-14-molds-265x198.jpeg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iphone-14-molds-696x522.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iphone-14-molds-1068x801.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iphone-14-molds-560x420.jpeg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /></p>
<p>According to tipster <a href="https://twitter.com/Shadow_Leak/status/1522194953983737857" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>@shadow_leak</em></a> on Twitter, the Cupertino based giant&#8217;s iPhone 14 Max will sport a 6.68 inch flexible OLED panels that has a resolution of 2,248×1,284 pixels. Furthermore, this screen will have a 458ppi pixel density and a 90Hz refresh rate. For those unaware, the Max model is reportedly the new entry that sits between the base and Pro variant and features a display similar to the Pro Max variant. It also replaces the Mini model, which was unpopular in the smartphone market.</p>
<p>The tipster added that the iPhone 14 Max will feature the A15 Bionic chipset and will be paired with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. Only the higher end iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/21/apple-iphone-14-a15-processor-rumors/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">rumored to feature the A16 Bionic chipset</a>. On the rear, the iPhone 14 Max will house a dual camera setup, which consists of two 12 megapixels sensors. Notably, previous reports have hinted at improvements in the front facing camera and the inclusion of satellite connectivity.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-456155 size-full aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-Render-Front.png?x44794" alt="Apple" width="839" height="541" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-Render-Front.png 839w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-Render-Front-300x193.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-Render-Front-768x495.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-Render-Front-696x449.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-Render-Front-651x420.png 651w" sizes="(max-width: 839px) 100vw, 839px" /></p>
<p>While the smartphone is still months away from launch, the tipster also shared the pricing of the iPhone 14 Max. Apparently, the 6GB + 128GB model will be priced at 899 US Dollars. Going by Apple&#8217;s usual pricing strategy, we can expect the higher end model to easily cross the 1,000 US Dollar mark as well. Keep in mind that this is still an unconfirmed report so take it with a pinch of salt and stick around for more updates.</p>

<p>The reasoning behind this decision has most likely to do with Apple not being able to sell enough iPhone Minis to justify its existence. And now, a <a href="https://www.macrumors.com/2022/04/21/iphone-13-mini-unpopular-march-quarter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>MacRumors</em></a> report has revealed just how poorly the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-13-mini/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone 13 Mini</a> is performing in the US.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-456239 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iPhone-13-series-sales-Q1-2022.png?x44794" alt="" width="797" height="389" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iPhone-13-series-sales-Q1-2022.png 797w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iPhone-13-series-sales-Q1-2022-300x146.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iPhone-13-series-sales-Q1-2022-768x375.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iPhone-13-series-sales-Q1-2022-533x261.png 533w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/iPhone-13-series-sales-Q1-2022-696x340.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 797px) 100vw, 797px" /></p>
<p>According to the report, the 5.4-inch iPhone 13 Mini sales have made up just 3% of the total iPhone sales in the US for the first quarter of 2022. Comparatively, the other ‌iPhone 13‌ models were much more popular and had the largest share of U.S. sales in several years.</p>
<p>The iPhone 13 models made up 71 percent of ‌iPhone‌ sales in the US in Q1 with the standard <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-13/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone 13‌</a> moving the most volume at 38%. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-13-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">13 Pro</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-13-pro-max/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">13 Pro Max</a> weren&#8217;t as popular this quarter but still outsold the iPhone 13 Mini quite a lot.</p>
<p><img class="td-animation-stack-type0-2" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPhone-14-render-featured.jpg?x44794" /></p>
<p>For its next series of iPhones, Apple is said to debut the iPhone 14 Max which will offer a big 6.7-inch display, equivalent to the iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, the smartphone will come with a cheaper price tag compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max and even the iPhone 14 Pro. The display of the iPhone 14 Max is also said to be a 120Hz refresh rate panel with LTPO technology and the device is rumored to come with the current-gen A15 Bionic chipset.</p>

Followed by this news, there was a piece of information that revealed that last year&#8217;s iPhone 12 mini didn&#8217;t have great sales in comparison to the iPhone 12 Pro Max model. It purported tipsters to suggest that Apple may ditch the mini in favour of a large-sized model. Well, now, the notorious Apple leaker Jon Prosser reveals the same information in addition to some other specs of the iPhone 14 series.</p>
<p>According to Prosser, next year, the iPhone 14 series will have four different models and all of them will have a redesign. Prosser had already shared creative renders of the redesigned 14 series ahead of<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-13"> iPhone 13 launch</a>. The leaker is now back to suggest that it is indeed happening and the Mini is getting away.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-411203 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPhone-14-render-featured.jpg?x44794" alt="iPhone 14" width="1024" height="576" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPhone-14-render-featured.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPhone-14-render-featured-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPhone-14-render-featured-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPhone-14-render-featured-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPhone-14-render-featured-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>Apple is touted to bring the iPhone 14 Max model with a large 6.7-inch display. For starters, it will be the same screen size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max model. The other two phones in the middle would be the base model iPhone 14 with a 6.1-inch screen and a Pro model with again the same screen size. Hence, there won&#8217;t be any Mini model.</p>
<p>The major reason for killing the Mini would be the inferior sales of the<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-12-mini"> iPhone 12 Mini</a>. In fact, a report revealed that <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-12-pro">iPhone 12 Pro Max</a> outsold the other models, thanks to the larger screen size. That said, Apple may take the reports into consideration and offer a large-sized iPhone in the non-Pro series.</p>

<p>According to a report from <a href="http://www.thelec.net/news/articleView.html?idxno=3371" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>TheElec</em></a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lg-display/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">LG Display</a> is aiming on beginning supplying the Cupertino based giant with LTPO OLED displays next year for its next gen iPhone lineup. So, the brand would now have another supplier for its ProMotion displays for its iPhones apart from just <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung</a>, which is currently its sole supplier for the panels. For those unaware, the newly launched <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-13-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone 13 Pro</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-13-pro-max/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone 13 Pro Max</a> feature the ProMotion displays with a variable refresh rate ranging between 10Hz and 120Hz.</p>
<p>This enables the devices to offer a smoother viewing experience when consuming different content like video, gaming, or simply scrolling text. On the other hand the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini use LTPS OLED display that doesn&#8217;t support ProMotion. Meanwhile, the Pro variants sport low power LTPO OLED panels. Furthermore, apart from Samsung and possibly LG, even <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/boe/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">BOE</a> is aiming on entering the supply chain of Apple with these panels by 2023 at the earliest.</p>

<p>As per <a href="https://www.macrumors.com/2021/09/17/at-least-one-iphone-14-likely-60hz/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>MacRumors</em></a>, previous reports had revealed that Apple is planning on launching four models of iPhone 14. However, it would be dropping the mini variant in exchange for a 6.7 iPhone 14 Max. The other models include the 6.1 inch iPhone 14, 6.1 inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7 inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. So we can assume that the brand aims to keep the high refresh rate panel on the higher end models for now.</p>
