Moving to the now 2 year old iPhone 14 series, buyers can avail an even higher discount. The base variant with 128GB is now listed for 59,900 INR, marking a 20,000 INR price cut from its original 79,900 INR launch price. Its 256GB variant can be purchased for 69,900 INR, while the 512GB version can be purchased for 89,900 INR.

Google Pixel 8a has just landed in India in two options, such as 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB. The pricing of these variants is Rs 52,999 and Rs 59,999, respectively. In the US, the device is priced at around $499, which is the same as the starting price of the Pixel 7a, which debuted last year.

In India, the price is significantly higher than the Pixel 7a’s starting price of Rs 43,999. Available for Rs 37,999 via Flipkart, the Nothing Phone 2 is an all-rounder phone featuring the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, a 6.7-inch OLED FHD+ 120Hz display, up to 12 GB of RAM, up to 512 GB of storage, and a 4,700mAh battery with 45W charging. For photography, it has a 50-megapixel (main) + 50-megapixel (ultrawide) dual camera system on the back.

Samsung Galaxy S23

The Samsung Galaxy S23, which debuted last year with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip onboard, is now available for Rs 46,999. It is the only Android phone on the list to offer longer software support, with seven years of OS upgrades and security updates. Available for Rs 46,999, the S23 features a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera. It is a compact phone featuring a 6.1-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz display, a 3,900mAh battery with 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging support, and an IP68-rated chassis.

iPhone 14 Plus

The iPhone 14 Plus, which debuted in September 2022, is now available for Rs 59,999 on Flipkart. It packs a 6.7-inch OLED screen, an Apple 15 Bionic chip, 6 GB of RAM, and a 4,323mAh battery. For photography, it has a 12-megapixel front camera, and a 12-megapixel (main, with OIS) + 12-megapixel (ultra-wide) dual-camera setup. In addition, it supports Face ID and comes with an IP68-rated body.

OnePlus 12R

Launched in January this year, the OnePlus 12R is a gaming-focused phone with a starting price of Rs 39,999. It has a 6.78-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. It has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, up to 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 5,500mAh battery with 100W charging. The device features an OIS-assisted 50-megapixel triple camera system on the back and a 15-megapixel selfie camera.

What does the Pixel 8a offer?

What makes the Google Pixel 8a interesting is that it is the first Pixel A-series phone to feature a 120Hz OLED screen, which measures 6.1 inches. The Pixel 8a will receive seven years of OS and security updates, just like the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Being a Pixel series phone, it will also be treated with the Pixel Feature Drops.

It has the same Tensor G3 chip that powers the Pixel 8 duo. At present, there is no clarity on whether the Pixel 8a’s G3 chip is an underclocked version.

It’s been almost six months since the iPhone 14 lineup made its debut in September of last year, and it has been regarded as one of the best phones to purchase in 2023. As with any flagship launch, there was some controversy surrounding Apple’s decision to replace the iPhone 13 mini with the iPhone 14 Plus. The question on everyone’s mind was whether or not this was the right move for the tech giant. However, recent reports from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) shed light on the panel shipments for the iPhone 14 series, giving us an idea of the relative commercial success of each model. The findings are definitely interesting.

The first observation is that the iPhone 14 lineup is slightly more popular than its predecessor, with a 2% increase in the year-on-year display shipments as of April. Second, it is not surprising that the Pro models are outperforming the regular ones, as this trend has been established over the years since Apple prices its newer models at the same price as its predecessors (usually).

Furthermore, the report suggests that revenue from this year’s lineup is likely to be higher as Apple sells even more high-end models at the expense of lower-end ones. Sales of the regular model are down by 36%, while those of the Pro and Pro Max have increased by 22% and 23%, respectively.

Interestingly, the report settles the “mini versus Plus” debate once and for all, revealing that the display shipments for the iPhone 14 Plus are up by 59% compared to the iPhone 13 mini. However, despite this surge, the iPhone 14 Plus is still the least popular model in the iPhone 14 lineup. The report concludes with a somewhat bleak forecast for the coming months leading up to the iPhone 15 announcement. Nevertheless, it is safe to say that Apple’s latest iPhones are a commercial success, given the results so far.

Apple fans may soon have a new color option for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. According to a recent Weibo post shared by the Japanese blog MacOtakara, the tech giant is planning to make the upcoming models available in yellow this spring.

While the Weibo account’s track record is unknown, MacRumors reported that multiple sources have confirmed Apple’s PR team is planning a product briefing next week, which could be related to the new iPhone color option or something else entirely.

Adding new color options mid-cycle has been a common tactic for Apple to boost sales and media attention. Last year, the company introduced new Green colors for the iPhone 13 series, and in April 2021, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini became available in Purple.

The current color options for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus include Blue, Purple, Midnight (Black), Starlight (White/Silver), and Product Red, while the iPhone 14 Pro models come in Deep Purple, Gold, Silver, and Space Black. According to the latest report, Apple has cut down the production capacity of the iPhone 14 Plus model because of weak sales. The phone is basically the iPhone 14 with a bigger screen and a bit higher price tag.

As per the report from The Information, Apple has instructed its manufacturers in China to immediately halt production of a component for the phone. It further adds that two other suppliers that assemble modules from that component have also significantly cut production.

It appears that customers are leaning more towards the iPhone 14 Pro as the pricing is just $100 more than the 14 Plus model but comes with several new features, including upgraded internals. The demand for the standard iPhone 14 isn’t as per the company’s expectations as Apple dropped the plan to boost production last month.

Some reports indicate that the iPhone 14 Pro series has strong demand from customers. It remains to be seen how the economic conditions in several countries affect the company’s sales. Despite the weak demand for the iPhone 14 Plus, it is being reported that the company still plans to launch the iPhone 15 Plus model next year.

Display

Both handsets come with stunning displays. What makes me go for the Pixel is the presence of a high refresh rate, while the iPhone 14 Plus, even though it is a 2022 flagship, still comes with 60 Hz. Note that the Google flagship has an in-display fingerprint reader to unlock the phone, while the iPhone relies on Face ID for authentication, which is 3D facial recognition.

Specs & Software

These two handsets are not so different in terms of hardware and performance. The Google Pixel 7 Pro sports the new Google Tensor G2 chipset built with a 5 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture including two Cortex X2 CPUs running at a max frequency of 2.85 GHz, two Cortex A78 CPUs running at 2.35 GHz, three Cortex A55 CPUs running at 1.8 GHz, and a Mali G710 MC10 GPU. The chipset is paired with 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The iPhone 14 Plus has a proprietary Apple A15 Bionic chipset built with the same production process and with the same octa-core architecture, but sporting two Avalance CPUs running at a max frequency of 3.23 GHz, four Blizzard CPUs running at 1.82 GHz, and an Apple 5-core GPU. This SoC is paired with 6 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of native storage. Given that the Pixel runs Android 13 and iPhone 14 Plus runs iOS 16, the latter has better software optimization, so having just 6 GB of RAM is not a disadvantage.

Camera

The Google Pixel 7 Pro beats the iPhone 14 Plus when it comes to the cameras. On the rear side, it has three sensors: a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 48 MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide camera. The iPhone 14 Plus has just two 12 MP sensors: the main camera and an ultrawide lens, and it lacks a telephoto camera. There is definitely no challenge.

Battery

The Google Pixel 7 Pro has a bigger 5000 mAh battery on board, but despite that, the iPhone 14 Plus is able to last more in a lot of scenarios thanks to the better optimization of the iOS operating system.

Price

The Google Pixel 7 Pro carries a starting price tag of €899 in Europe and $799 in the U.S. while the iPhone 14 Plus starts from €1,150 in several European zones and from $899 in the U.S. The Google Pixel 7 Pro wins this comparison thanks to its better cameras and high refresh rate, but several people may prefer the iPhone due to iOS, better build quality, and long battery life.

Apple iPhone 14 series

The Apple iPhone 14 series is currently one of the latest flagship series of smartphones that were released in the global market. With the 2022 iPhone lineup, the company brought a number of major changes in some models while others saw barely any difference. Starting with the higher end models, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are easily one of the top contenders for a true premium smartphone experience in the market.

We can’t have a flagship list without including Samsung‘s flagship smartphones. With the Galaxy S22 series, the South Korean brand is basically offering a premium handset experience that may fit the needs of different people. Talking about the specs first, the entire lineup features either the Exynos 2200 (Europe) or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC (ROW). The Galaxy S22 series, includes the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The primary difference between the three models are the sizes, with the base variant having a 6.1 inch panel, while the Plus model having a 6.6 inch screen, and the Ultra model sporting a 6.8 inch display. Since Samsung is known for its AMOLED panels, the series offers some of the best smartphone display in the market. Google Pixel 7 series

Following the iPhone 14 release, Google soon followed up with its own flagship smartphone release. This year, it announced the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, which aimed to once again showcase what a true Google phone or an Android phone with top notch software is like. The Pixel 6 series was the first generation of Pixel to feature the company’s proprietary chipset and the Pixel 7 lineup retains this, with a second gen Tensor G2 SoC. While this doesn’t bring a large performance bump in terms of raw power, it helps boost the more AI powered features that these phones offer, which is also what it is known for.

Furthermore, it also arrives with new and improved cameras, with the Pixel 7 Pro topping the DxOMark by tieing with the Honor Magic 4 Ultimate. The Vivo X80 Pro is the top flagship offering from the Chinese brand. With the X80 series (excluding the X80 Pro+ in India), the company has offered premium handsets that feature top notch specs. The X80 Pro model features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, Quad HD AMOLED Display, and 80W fast charging support. The 6.78 inch panel also supports 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and an impressive peak brightness of 1500 nits.

Although, despite all of these robust features, its unique selling point is undoubtedly its camera setup. It has a quad camera setup with 50 megapixel primary sensor, 48-megapixel ultra wide angle lens, 12-megapixel telephoto lens, and an 8 megapixel periscope zoom lens as well. The camera module also features Zeiss optics and Zeiss T* lens coating, with its camera performance being praised across the board. The smartphone is currently listed on Flipkart and is priced at 79,999 INR.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 & Galaxy Z Flip 4

Since we’re talking about premium phones that offer a flagship experience, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are a pair of two true ultra premium foldable phones. Both of these features various improvements over their predecessors, which comes in the form of upgraded cameras, larger batteries, and even Android 12L, which is an Android OS made specifically for devices with large screens.

Apart from having a unique form factor than the other models in this list, these also offer a premium and durable design with its Armor Aluminum frames and hinge, which is also complimented by the exclusive Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ for the front and rear glass panels. On Sept. 8, Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 series to the global market. The iPhone 14, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max have been available for purchase since Sept. 16. The company stated at the time of launch that the iPhone 14 Plus would be available on October 7. The day has arrived, and it is now available for purchase in different markets.

The iPhone 14 Plus comes in three storage variants, such as 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB. It can be bought in Blue, Purple, Midnight, Starlight, and Product (Red).

In the US, the iPhone 14 Plus variants are priced at $899, $999, and $,199, respectively. In Europe, the three models are priced at €1,149, €1,279, and €1,539, respectively. These variants cost Rs 89,900, Rs 99,900, and Rs 1,19,900 in India, respectively.

iPhone 14 Plus specifications

The iPhone 14 Plus features a 6.7-inch OLED display that offers 1284 x 2778 pixels resolution. The Super Retina XDR OLED screen supports HDR10, Dolby Vision, and comes with Ceramic Shield glass protection. It is powered by the Apple A15 Bionic chip and has 6 GB of RAM. The device boots to iOS 16.

It is not the most advanced model of the 14 series but it is a bigger version of the vanilla iPhone 14, equipped with a bigger battery and a bigger display. A lot of people are wondering whether or not it makes sense to purchase this variant instead of the Pro ones from the same lineup. This is the reason why we decided to publish a comparison with the Pro Max. But there is another Plus phone that you may choose instead of this new Apple handset. We are talking about the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus, another intermediate version. There is no better way to understand which one is the best than a direct comparison. So, here is a comparison between the main specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus and the iPhone 14 Plus!

Even though the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus has a more original design, I personally prefer the design of the iPhone 14 Plus. I prefer it because of its higher build quality. It has a glass back protected by Ceramic Shield and an aluminum frame, with better water resistance than its rival. Thanks to the IP68 certification of this phone, you can put it underwater up to 6 meters deep for 30 minutes without damage. But a lot of people may prefer the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus due to its original look, especially the one of the camera module, and due to the absence of an ugly notch, replaced by a punch hole placed centrally on the display. It is waterproof just like its opponent, but it can be put underwater just 1.5 meters deep without damage.

Display

The display of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus looks better for gamers due to its very high 120 HZ refresh rate. It is an AMOLED panel with a diagonal of 6.6 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, HDR10+ certification, and very high peak brightness, as well as an in-display fingerprint scanner for authentication. The iPhone 14 Plus looks better in terms of image quality. It has a Super Retina XDR OLED display with a diagonal of 6.7 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1284 x 2778 pixels, the HDR10 certification, Dolby Vision support, and a 1,200 nit peak brightness. It does not have a fingerprint reader, but it relies on a better authentication method: 3D facial recognition, thanks to the Face ID technology provided by the hardware sensors placed inside the notch.

Specs & Software

Even though it comes with a processor from last year, the iPhone 14 Plus is able to provide higher performance thanks to the amazing optimization of the iOS operating system. It is fueled by the Apple A16 Bionic chipset built with a 5 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture. The SoC is composed of two Avalanche performance cores running at a max frequency of 3.23 GHz, four Blizzard energy efficient cores running at 1.82 GHz, and a 5-core Apple proprietary GPU, paired with 6 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of NVMe native storage. The Samsung Galaxy S22 comes in two variants: one with the Samsung Exynos 2200 mobile platform running at a max frequency of 2.8 GHz, and another one with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 inside, running at a max frequency of 3 GHz. The processor varies depending on the market and is paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of native storage.

Camera

If you are looking for the most versatile camera, you should go for the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus. It is equipped with a triple rear camera including a 50 MP main sensor with OIS, a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS, and a 12 MP ultrawide camera. Unfortunately, you do not get optical zoom with the iPhone 14 Plus, but you get two 12 MP sensors with OIS and an ultrawide lens included.

Battery

According to Apple, the iPhone 14 Plus is the iPhone with the longest lasting battery ever. Indeed, it has also one of the biggest batteries ever seen on an Apple phone, with a capacity of 4323 mAh. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus has a bigger 4500 mAh battery, but due to the presence of the Android operating system, the battery life is shorter. On the other hand, it features faster 44W charging tech.

Price

The starting price of the iPhone 14 Plus is €1,149/$1149 (prices vary depending on the market), while you need at least €1000 or $1000 in order to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus. Which one would you prefer?

With the Apple iPhone 14 series being announced, pre-orders for the latest iPhone series has gone live. However, it appears that the newest version, which is the iPhone 14 Plus, is by far the least popular model in the new lineup.

The news arrives from a Ming-Chi Kuo of TF Securities, who is a known analyst in the industry. He recently published an early report that was related to the pre-orders for the 2022 iPhone generation. Looking at this report, we can see that the demand for the top end iPhone 14 Pro Max had crossed the iPhone 13 Pro Max that was launched last year. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro saw around the same demand as last year’s iPhone 13 Pro.

However, the rating for the other two iPhone 14 series was “bad.” In other words, it appears that the demand for the iPhone 14 series as a whole is more towards the more expensive model rather than the affordable ones. Kuo claimed that the demand for the iPhone 14 Plus is weaker than even the iPhone 13 mini last year. For those unaware, Apple had discontinued the iPhone mini model after lackluster demand for the smallest flagship model.

In its place, the brand release the Plus model, assuming that a larger model with a lower price tag than the Pro models might be more popular. But it seems like that was not the case. The iPhone 14 Plus demand is so low that it is even weaker than the iPhone SE 2022 model as well and accounts for just 5 percent of the total pre-orders. Meanwhile, the two Pro models make up 85 percent of the pre-orders, with the rest of the 10 percent being for the base iPhone 14.

With the launch of the iPhone 14 lineup during the keynote held a few days ago, Apple officially ditched the Mini variant in favor of a brand new one: the Plus variant. The iPhone 14 Plus is the first device of its kind and it is essentially a better but more expensive variant of the original iPhone 14. Now, a lot of people are wondering whether or not it is enough to choose the iPhone 14 Plus or whether they should opt for the iPhone 14 Pro Max which remains the most advanced phone of the series. So, through this article, we decided to answer this question. Further, as you maybe know, this year there are more important differences between the Pro variants and the non-Pro variants of the lineup. This is a comparison between the main specifications of the iPhone 14 Plus and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max vs Apple iPhone 14 Plus

Design

The first important difference between the iPhone 14 Plus and the iPhone 14 Pro Max is their design. The former comes with the old notch found in the previous generation, while the latter is the first iPhone with a pill-shaped punch hole. It looks a lot more futuristic and interesting thanks to this solution and this is not the only added value. The iPhone 14 Pro Max also comes with a better build quality: it has a glass back and a stainless steel frame, while the Plus variant comes with a glass back and an aluminum frame instead of stainless steel. On the rear side, there are two different camera modules, with more sensors on the Pro Max variant. Both these phones are waterproof with the IP68 certification and you can put them underwater up to 6 meters deep for a max time of 30 minutes without damage.

Display

The displays of these two phones are very advanced. They have exactly the same diagonal: 6.7 inches. It is the first time that two variants of the iPhone lineup have a 6.7-inch diagonal. They are Super Retina XDR OLED displays but with slightly different resolutions (slightly higher on the Pro Max). The iPhone 14 Pro Max wins for two main reasons. The first is the presence of the LTPO technology with an adaptive refresh rate that goes up to 120 Hz, while the Plus stops at the standard 60 Hz refresh rate. Further, the Pro Max comes with a higher brightness: up to 2,000 nits. It even supports the Always-On Display feature. Unlike Android phones, these devices do not come with fingerprint readers, but on the upper part of the display, they have the hardware sensors for the Face ID allowing 3D facial recognition.

Specs & Software

This year the iPhone variants differ even in their chipsets. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is powered by the new Apple A16 Bionic SoC built with a 4 nm production process and running at a max frequency of 3.46 GHz. The iPhone 14 Plus still comes with the Apple A15 Bionic, the same chipset as the iPhone 13 series. It is a chip built with a 5 nm production process and running at a max frequency of 3.22 GHz. Both the phones feature a 5-core proprietary GPU and 6 GB of RAM, but with the Pro Max, you can get a higher amount of internal storage: up to 1 TB, while the Plus stops at just 512 GB. The operating system installed is iOS 16.

Camera

The iPhone 14 Pro Max brings an important upgrade to the camera department. On the rear side, it has four sensors, including an amazing 48 MP main camera with sensor-shift OIS and dual pixel phase detection autofocus. Thanks to this camera, the handset captures a higher level of detail. The 48 MP camera is paired with a 12 MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and a 12 MP ultrawide camera with a FOV of 120 degrees. Unfortunately, the main camera of the iPhone 14 Plus is still a 12 MP sensor just like the previous generation. Further, this variant lacks a telephoto sensor and it only comes with a 12 MP secondary ultrawide camera. On the front, these phones sport a 12 MP selfie shooter with an f/1.9 focal aperture and hardware sensors for 3D facial recognition.

Battery

The battery capacity of these two phones is almost the same, but they do not provide the same battery life. According to Apple, the iPhone 14 Plus is the longest-lasting iPhone ever in terms of battery life. However, we still had no chance to test the phones because they are still on pre-order. They support 29W fast charging which brings the battery from 0 to 50 percent in 30 minutes, as well as Qi wireless charging and the MagSafe technology with a power of 15W.

Price

In the U.S. the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts from $1099/€1099, while the Plus starts from $899/€900 (prices vary depending on the markets). Which one would you pick?

Yesterday, Apple officially unveiled the iPhone 14 series at its ‘Far Out Event’. The latest iPhones were accompanied by AirPods Pro 2nd Gen, Apple Watch Series 8, and Apple Watch Ultra. Unsurprisingly, the American tech giant also announced the discontinuation of select older iPhones.

Just like every year, the incoming Pro models have replaced the outgoing Pro models in Apple’s iPhone lineup. In other words, the company has officially discontinued the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max from 2021.

The iPhone 13 Pro series brought some major upgrades. It introduced features like a 120Hz LTPO display, an improved triple camera system, much better battery life, and more.

Further, the firm discontinues the iPhone 11 from 2019. It was the first base iPhone with a dual-camera setup, 4GB RAM, 18W wired charging support, and more.

Lastly, Apple also discontinues the iPhone 12 Mini from 2020. It was the first Mini iPhone, one of the first 5G iPhones, and the most affordable iPhone with an OLED display at the launch.

As pointed out in the wallpaper illustration of his Twitter post, the iPhone, the new “Dynamic Island” is very similar to the spacesuit worn by the crewmates in the multiplayer social deduction game, Among Us that went viral during the COVID lockdowns. 

What makes the meme funny is that online users try searching for items in real life that seem to resemble the design of the crewmate in Among Us, calling it sus, or an imposter, as if they are playing the game in real life.

2. Is it just me or is my old iPhone getting slower?

Like many Apple iPhone releases in prior years, many iPhone users reported that their older iPhones were getting slower after getting the latest iOS update after the newest iPhone had been announced. The video shows obvious stuttering of a girl dancing, implying that the performance of their iPhone X has gotten slower. The tweet has since garnered over 150K likes, implying that many iPhone users feel the same situation is happening to them as well.

Although Apple was previously proven in court of deliberately slowing down older iPhones years prior, it could be a matter of the Placebo Effect on older iPhone users, as when they see a new iPhone released, they perceive their older iPhones to be inferior and slower.

3. Organ Donations for the new iPhone 14

Excluding the US, the new iPhone 14 series launch prices are comparatively 10 to 30 percent higher than last year’s iPhone 13 series launch. Apple has unveiled the latest iPhone 14 series comprising the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 Pro models stand out most among the four models. That is because both handsets have a new pill-shaped cutout that replaces the notch and can adjust dynamically. Both devices include a speedier A16 Bionic chip as well as an always-on display. Let’s take a look at the specs, design, and pricing of the new iPhone 14 models.

The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus retain much of the design of the iPhone 13 – including the previous-generation A15 Bionic CPU. You can also use the Find My app to communicate your location without sending a message. It is free for the first two years for the iPhone 14 models.

CAMERA – iPhone 14 & 14 Plus

For selfies, the iPhone 14 models pack an ultrawide and a new 12-megapixel main camera with an f/1.5 aperture and sensor-based stabilization. Apple says the image quality in low light has improved by 49%, and Night Mode is now twice as quick. A new 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera with front focusing is also available. Apple claims to be implementing its “Photonic Engine” technology, which improves color rendering and low-light performance, sooner in the image pipeline. Action Option, a new stabilization mode for video recording, makes use of the entire sensor to provide gimbal-like steadiness.

Apple showcased how the Dynamic Island will animate and function in practice, featuring live activity widgets springing to life and music animations and controls. Background chores like music listening will be moved to the island when you swipe to go home.

The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will both have an always-on display that will operate with iOS 16’s new lock screen widget feature. It will enable information such as reminders, calendar events, and weather without requiring the iPhone to wake up in order to display it. There’s also a sleep mode for iOS 16 wallpapers that darken them to save battery life.

PROCESSOR

Apple’s A16 Bionic chip powers the iPhone 14 Pro variants. With its new CPU, Apple has prioritized battery efficiency, display, and camera. The six-core CPU has two high-performance cores that utilize 20% less power and four efficiency cores that use a third of the power of competitors’ CPUs.

This new A16 chip powers the Dynamic Island’s silky animations and will also power Apple’s new camera system.

CAMERA

Speaking of the camera, for the first time, the iPhone will use a 48-megapixel sensor instead of a 12-megapixel sensor. The redesigned main camera improves low-light shooting with a quad-pixel sensor, f/1.78 aperture, and 24mm focal length.

To maximize light collection, the sensor will take 12-megapixel binned pictures for most shots. This also enables Apple to crop the sensor in various ways to provide genuine 2x zoom at a focal length of 48mm. This could produce some stunning images, and the new sensor even optimizes details in Apple’s ProRAW format.

The new ultrawide camera also improves macrophotography and provides a 3x boost in low light. Apple has also improved the flash on the iPhone 14 camera system, making it twice as bright and responsive to photo focal length. The cinematic mode now supports 4K resolution at 30fps and 4K resolution at 24fps.

Overall, the iPhone 14 Pro delivers far more than last year’s minor updates to the iPhone 13 Pro models, which included a 120Hz ProMotion high refresh rate display and three all-new cameras. On the Android front, Samsung has the Galaxy Fold 4, which merges a tablet and phone experience into a single device, as well as the Galaxy Flip 4, which folds in half.

PRICING & AVAILABILITY – iPhone 14 series

The base iPhone 14 model costs $799, while the 14 Plus costs $899. Preorders will begin on September 9th, with the normal 14 shipping on September 16th and the 14 Plus following on October 7th.

The iPhone 14 Pro will cost $999, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max will cost $1,099. Both will be available for preorder on September 9th, with in-store availability on September 16th.

Five brands have confirmed to hold launch events next week. They are Poco, Xiaomi, Huawei, Apple, and Motorola.

Out of all companies, the last three will debut premium handsets. Whereas, the first two will announce budget models.

Upcoming Smartphones Next Week

Poco M5 and Poco M5s

The Poco M5 will be a new device, whereas the Poco M5s will be a rebranded Redmi Note 10S. Both of them will be announced in a live stream at 8 PM GMT+8 on September 5.

The M5 is said to come with a MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, 6.58-inch FHD+ display (LCD), 5,00mAh battery, and 33W fast charging support.

Whereas, the M5s is expected to arrive with a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, MediaTek Helio G96 SoC, 64MP main camera, dual stereo speakers, 5,000mAh battery, and 33W fast charging support.

Redmi 11 Prime 5G

The Redmi 11 Prime is set to launch in India at 12 PM IST on September 6. This phone is a rebranded Redmi Note 11E, which also goes by Redmi 10 5G in Southeast Asia.

The handset is expected to come with a 6.58-inch 90Hz FHD+ display (LCD), MediaTek Dimensity 700 chip, 50MP main camera, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 5,000mAh battery, and 18W wired charging support.

Huawei Mate 50 Series

The Huawei Mate 50 series is scheduled to go official on September 6. It will be announced at an event, which will be live-streamed from 2:30 PM CST.

The Mate 50 lineup is rumored to include four models, namely Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro, Porsche Design Mate 50 RS, and Mate 50E. The first three devices are said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, while the last one is tipped to house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC.

Either way, all of them will be limited to 4G connectivity. The series is expected to offer up to 66W fast wired charging support and a variable aperture camera.

Apple iPhone 14 Series

Apple has scheduled its annual fall event for September 7 at 10 AM PT. The company is expected to debut the iPhone 14 series.

The iPhone 14 lineup is tipped to include four models. They are iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max (or Plus), iPhone Pro, and iPhone Pro Max. As you can see, there will be no Mini as it will be replaced by the new Max or Plus.

Major upgrades are only expected for the Pro models. The expensive iPhones are said to offer a high-resolution camera, a new chipset, and a redesigned notch.

Motorola Edge 30 Series

Motorola has confirmed to unveil new Edge series smartphones on September 8. The Lenovo-owned brand is expected to debut three devices, namely Edge 30 Ultra, Edge 30 Fusion, and Edge 30 Neo.

The Ultra and Fusion will be rebranded Moto X30 Pro and Moto S30 Pro, respectively. Whereas, the Neo will be a new device.

The Ultra will be the first globally available smartphone with a 200MP main camera. On the other hand, Fusion and Neo will be lifestyle smartphones.

Looks like Apple is keeping the Mini iPhone in 2022 after all!

According to reporting by 91mobiles, popular industry leakster, Evan Blass has shared that Apple will be launching a total of 7 new devices at the brand’s annual September Launch Event which includes the latest iPhones and iPads.

Sourcing from insider info within one of Apple’s top-tier retail channel partners in the Asia-Pacific region, Evan has gotten intel that Apple will be launching these seven iPhones and iPads at its September Launch Event: 

1. iPhone 14 Mini
2. iPhone 14
3. iPhone 14 Pro
4. iPhone 14 Pro Max
5. iPad 10.2 (10th generation)
6. iPad Pro 12.9 (6th generation)
7. iPad Pro 11 (4th generation)

The devices are reportedly supposed to be announced on September 7th at Apple Park in California, and starting from September 16th, these 7 devices are expected to start shipping out to customers in the first wave of countries in Apple’s annual launch cycle.

The news of an iPhone 14 Mini comes as a surprise as previous leaks and rumours indicated that Apple would be dropping the iPhone 14 Mini in favour of an iPhone 14 Max (or iPhone 14 Plus) due to relatively poor sales of the iPhone 13 Mini compared to its bigger screen siblings, like the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

As for the other details of the launch, previously it was rumoured that only the new iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will feature Apple’s latest A16 Bionic mobile processor, whereas the other iPhone 14 models will only feature the A15 Bionic, the same processor found on Apple’s last year’s iPhone 13 series.

As for the iPads, both the iPad Pro 12.9-inch and 11-inch models for 2022 are supposed to feature Apple’s latest M2 Apple Silicon SoC, alongside cutting-edge mini-LED displays which are currently the only tablets in the market with mini-LED displays. Meanwhile, the 10th generation entry-level iPad is getting a redesign in which the home button is now gone, allowing for a near bezel-less tablet experience, as it joins the iPad Air and iPad Pro with Apple’s modern design language for iPads.

Although there were recent rumours of BOE no longer supplying OLED displays for Apple’s latest iPhone 14 series, it seems that the latest news indicates that Apple will still be ordering OLED displays for its iPhone 14 series from the 3 same companies who supplied the iPhone 13 series OLEDs last year, which are respectively BOE, Samsung and LG Display.

The news comes from market research agency Omdia (via ITHome), which recently reported that Apple’s iPhone 14 series will be equipped with the latest LTPS and LTPO OLEDs manufactured by BOE, Samsung and LG Display.

According to the report, Samsung will be the largest supplier of OLEDs for Apple this year, as it will supply the displays of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 13 for the Cupertino tech giant in 2022. 

Meanwhile, LG will be supplying OLEDs for the standard iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro Max, while BOE will be only supplying the OLEDs for the standard iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 for Apple in 2022.

The report also mentions several key screen details of the iPhone 14 series. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus will be equipped with LTPS OLED panels which seem to hint that the iPhone 14 does have higher refresh rates than the previous generation, but refresh rates may not be variable as LTPO panels. Design-wise, the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus will still have the iconic notch on top like the iPhone 13 series.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will feature LTPO OLED panels, which is the same as the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, but the major difference here is that Apple will be using a two-hole cutout housing the selfie camera and the Face ID module on the display, instead of the notch.

As for forecasts, in the report, Omdia notes that Apple could be developing a new technology that allows the Face ID facial recognition module to be under the screen by 2024, and by then the two-hole cutout can be minimised to a one-hole cutout. As for the iPhone 15 series, India expects Apple to fully integrate the two-hole cutout design into all its iPhone 15 devices which include the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

Lastly, Omdia forecasts that Apple will be ordering 205 million LTPS and LTPO OLED displays from its suppliers in 2022, and the breakdown of the shipments are that Samsung will hold 60% of display shipments to Apple, LG Display 25% and BOE 15%.
