With the Apple iPhone 15 series finally going official, the company has decided to discontinue some of its older models. So now, the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 13 mini, and iPhone 12 has been will no longer be manufactured.

The Cupertino based giant has officially stopped selling four iPhone models following the launch of the iPhone 15. This means that these devices will no longer be produced, but they will be listed online till stocks last on online and offline retailers. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is the previous year’s top-end model and is the first in the 14 series to be discontinued. Similarly, the iPhone 14 Pro is the other device that will be discontinued from the 2022 lineup.

The two other devices that are being axed include the iPhone 13 mini, which is the last of its kind, and the 2020’s iPhone 12. The former is the last entry in the discontinued mini series, while the iPhone 12 has seen robust sales thanks to various discounts and sales. The flagship iPhone 14 Pro Max started from 139,900 INR in India, while the iPhone 14 Pro started from 129,900 INR.

The iPhone 14 series has been on the market for less than a year, but some users are already reporting battery health issues. A growing number of people have noticed that their phone’s battery health is degrading faster than previous generations. In some cases, battery health has decreased by as much as 10%. CreativeBloq first reported that many iPhone 14 users are taking to social media to complain about their battery health. Sam Kohl of Apple news outlet AppleTrack said that his iPhone 14 Pro’s battery health is now at 90% in less than a year, which he described as “unacceptable.”

Another user Andrew Clare also showed that his iPhone 14 Pro lost 10% of its battery health in almost a year, compared to 15% for his two-year-old iPhone 14 Pro. Replies to Sam’s and Andrew Clare’s posts tell a similar story, with many iPhone 14 users reporting rapid battery degradation. In contrast, older iPhones seem to be holding up much better.

There is no clear explanation for why iPhone 14 users are experiencing rapid battery degradation. It could be due to an individual’s usage pattern since some users use their device more rigorously and charge it more frequently. Another reason might be the climatic conditions since many countries have seen record-hot summers this year. However, not all iPhone 14 users are experiencing this issue. Some users have said that their iPhone 14 batteries are holding up better than their previous models.

This is not the first time that we have heard about battery problems with the iPhone 14. In May, we reported that many iPhone 14 Pro users, as well as iPhone 13 users, were reporting severe battery swelling issues. It seems that the number of unhappy customers is growing.

The more affordable entry in the lineup will feature a 48 megapixel sensor for its primary rear camera. According to known analyst Jeff Pu, the two smartphones will feature the same 48 megapixel sensor that was offered on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max model from last year.

The new sensor will enable the next gen non Pro iPhone models to capture 48 megapixel ProRAW photos. In other words, users can capture images with more details, which is great for those that edit images later on. This feature has been widely well received in the market and also arrived as a major upgrade to cameras in the iPhone 14 Pro models.

Previously, Pu had added that the iPhone 15 Pro models will not feature solid state buttons over design issues. However, these higher end models will still arrive with titanium frame, an upgraded A17 Bionic chips, and 8GB of RAM. Lastly, these devices are also expected to house a USB Type C port.

One user, who purchased an iPhone 14 Pro in December last year, stated that the Apple battery quality issue led to significant swelling.

The swelling was so severe that it forced the screen to pry open. Despite this, Apple’s customer support allegedly refused to address the problem with a responsible attitude. The user reportedly called Apple’s technical support three times. A senior advisor initially promised to replace the device if the battery issue was proven to be a quality problem, but later changed their stance and denied the promise.

Photos shared by users show the screen of the affected iPhone 14 Pro protruding, presumably due to the swollen battery. It’s worth noting that other iPhone 14 Pro users have also encountered battery swelling issues. However, when they sent their devices to Apple’s customer support, the company rejected the complaints and returned the devices.

Surprisingly, upon return, the battery swelling issue had disappeared, but the battery was displayed as an “unknown component.” The user suspects that Apple replaced the original battery without acknowledging the repair. According to the claims, this is not an isolated case of iPhone batteries swelling.

However, it cannot be ruled out that the battery swelling issues may have been caused by users placing their phones in high-temperature environments or charging them under high-temperature conditions. Further investigation is required to determine the root cause of these problems and whether they are indeed due to manufacturing defects or user habits.

Chinese smartphone brand Gionee has introduced its latest offering, the Gionee F1 Plus, in its home market. The brand has already made a name for itself by releasing clone models of popular flagship devices such as those from iPhone, Huawei, and Xiaomi. In the past, Gionee has launched the Gionee P50 Pro, a replica of the Huawei P50 Pro, and the Gionnee F3 Pro, which combined features of both iPhone and Xiaomi.

The recently launched Gionee F1 Plus bears a striking resemblance to the iPhone 14 Pro but is cheaper than a Redmi Note 12 in China, let alone an iPhone.

As for its technical specifications, the device offers a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ 1600*720 pixel resolution, a standard 60Hz refresh rate, and a notch cutout to make it look like an iPhone. Further, it is powered by the Unisoc T610 chipset paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It comes with a built-in 4000mAh battery with the support of 10W standard charging.

In terms of optics, it has got a single 13-megapixel rear camera. Other two lenses which you see on the camera bump are dummies. On the front, we have a 5-megapixel selfie snapper that supports AI face unlock. The device boots to the Android 12 operating system right out of the box. Additional features include a 3.5mm headphone jack and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Apple launched the iPhone 14 Pro last year. It arrived with significant upgrades compared to its predecessor packed with new features like Dynamic Island, Satellite Emergency SOS, and Crash Detection. The smartphone has won two Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO) announced by GSMA at the MWC 2023. 

The iPhone 14 Pro bagged the award for the ‘Best Smartphone’ beating the Google Pixel 7 Pro, Nothing Phone (1), Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 which were also considered for the award. The Cupertino-based tech giant won another award for ‘Disruptive Device Innovation’ for its ground-breaking Emergerncy SOS via Satellite feature on the iPhone 14 Pro models. It allows users of the device to send emergency message alerts in remote places where there is no cellular coverage without any special hardware. In the disruptive device innovation category, Google’s Tensor 2 chip, Qualcomm Snapdragon, and Sony’s IMX989 camera sensor were also considered for the award. 

GSMA says that “The Best Smartphone award combines outstanding performance, innovation and leadership as determined through assessment of smartphones on the market during the period January 2022 to December 2022, by world leading independent analysts, journalists, and influencers.”

As for the core specifications, the iPhone 14 Pro sports a Super Retina XDR LTPO OLED display with ProMotion support, AOD, and up to 2,000 nits brightness. The Pro models have a pill-shaped cutout called Dynamic Island loaded with software optimisation. The iPhone 14 Pro variants feature a 48MP main sensor with sensor-shift stabilisation, 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 12MP telephoto unit, and a LiDAR sensor. The smartphone is powered by A16 Bionic processor and supports 15W magsafe wireless charging.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series was recently unveiled at the Unpacked event. Undoubtedly, the most striking model among them was the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The phone, which stands out with its performance and capabilities, has also earned the right to be the flagship of Android. The Galaxy S23 Ultra uses a custom overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC developed in partnership with Qualcomm and Samsung. In the single-core performance test, the iPhone 14 Pro received a score of 1,874, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra received only a score of 1,480. The iPhone 14 Pro outperformed the Galaxy S23 Ultra by 21.02%. However, when it came to multi-core tests, the gap narrowed to 14.86%. The iPhone 14 Pro maintained its lead with a score of 5,384, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra received a score of 4,584. Interestingly, in terms of single-core performance, the older iPhone 14 with the A15 Bionic and a 5-core GPU outperforms the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Apple’s success with A-series processors was not a secret anyway. Similar results were obtained in a test conducted last year, and the iPhone 13, which came with the A15, had better scores than the Galaxy S22. In fact, according to the single-core score, the iPhone 13 performs better than the S23 series. However, these tests do not mean that one device is necessarily worse than the other.

Real life use cases are much more important than synthetic testing. Not many of us even manage to push the limits of a mid-range phone. While this shows us how far mobile technologies have come, it reminds us that these tests do not reflect real life. At the end of the day, whether you choose the iPhone 14 Pro or the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, both phones are great options.

There is also a trade-in option for customers to exchange their old phone for a discount of up to Rs 20,000 (~$242) on the iPhone 14, though the final price may vary based on the traded device.

The iPhone 14 Plus, normally priced at Rs 79,900, can also be purchased for less. Imagine is offering a Rs 7,000 (~$85) instant discount, as well as a Rs 4,000 cashback on HDFC Bank cards and EasyEMI transactions, bringing the price down to Rs 78,900 (~$954).

In light of the ongoing global recession, the iPhone 14 models are seeing price drops in China, with reductions of up to 848 yuan (~$125) being offered to stabilize sales. This comes after Apple reported a decline in revenue during the December quarter due to the impact of COVID-19 on the supply chain and weak demand in the world’s largest smartphone market in 2022.

Online retailers in China, such as JD.com, have marked down the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models by 800 yuan (~$118). With an additional 50 yuan (~$7.50) discount for members, these models are now available for 10.6% off the original price. This brings down the price of the 128GB iPhone 14 Pro by 848 yuan, down to 7150 yuan (~$1055). 

Physical resellers have also jumped on the bandwagon, offering price cuts ranging from 630 yuan (~$93) to 725 yuan (~$107). Some of the most sought-after models have already sold out. For example, all iPhone 14 Pro models with 256GB or more storage were sold out at Suning outlets in Shenzhen shortly after the price cut was offered over the weekend.

Shenzhen retail chain Sundan also offered a 630 yuan (~$93) price reduction starting Sunday, but has now run out of stock for both the Pro and Pro Max models with max storage. The iPhone 14 Pro series runs on iOS 16 operating system and is powered by Apple A15 Bionic Hexa-core processor. It is packed with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1TB internal storage options.

However, the prices on Apple’s official website and brick-and-mortar stores in China have not changed as of Monday noon. This suggests that there is still a good level of inventory available, with online delivery or pickup options available.

In 2022, the global smartphone image sensor market faces a downturn, with annual smartphone shipments falling by nearly 11%, and the trend of multi-camera adoption slowing down. This led to a contraction in CIS (CMOS image sensor) sales and a correction of oversupply in inventory, especially for 8MP and Low megapixel sensor. According to Counterpoint’s Smartphone Camera Tracker, global smartphone image sensor shipments are down 15% compared to 2021, with all major suppliers seeing declines of varying degrees. However, there are a few vendors who manage to stand out in this regard Challenging market.

Sony was the only major vendor to report year-over-year revenue growth thanks to Apple’s camera upgrades. Apple, which contributes an estimated half of Sony Mobile’s CIS revenue, further improved iPhone camera specs during the year. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max come with a new A 48MP image sensor for the main rear camera, a larger ultrawide sensor, and a front-facing sensor with autofocus. As a result of these upgrades, Sony estimates that each unit adds more than $6, or about $300 million in sales, in the second half of 2022.

In the Android camp, Samsung LSI also benefited from the trend of camera enhancements and improved product mix, partially offsetting the sharp decline in shipments. Samsung has a first-mover advantage in mass-producing sub-0.7μm high-resolution sensors, with expected shipments of 200 million units An affordable 50MP image sensor in 2022.

The 0.64μm-based Samsung S5KJN1 has achieved great success and is widely used in rear main cameras in low- and mid-range smartphones as well as front-facing or ultra-wide-angle cameras in high-end models. Earlier today (4th January 2023), LeTV silent announced a new smartphone in the Chinese market. The company unveiled a new budget 5G enabled device, but its design looks awfully similar to the Apple iPhone 14 Pro. So let’s have a look.

The Chinese consumer electronics maker has yet to reveal finer details regarding this device but has officially announced the new LeTV S1 Pro model. Under the hood, the upcoming handset is equipped with the Huben T7510 SoC, which apparently offers performance that can rival the Snapdragon 7 series from Qualcomm. This is a China made chipset that been popular for domestic brands in the region.

Unfortunately, the company did not share any other key details regarding this smartphone. However, its most highlight aspect is undoubtedly its design. Similar to the LeTV Y1 Pro+, which features an iPhone like design, the new S1 Pro features a physical appearance that resembles the iPhone 14 Pro series. The arrangement of the three cameras on the rear is nearly identical to the more expensive iPhone models, while the front also houses a pill shaped cutout, which the Cupertino based giant calls the Dynamic Island.

Although, it is still unclear if the brand aims to offer similar functionalities from this selfie camera cutout. The LeTV S1 Pro is set to be released in China for a price tag of under 1,000 Yuan or about 145 US Dollars. Apple could release an update for the iPhone 14 Pro that will fix a reported problem of horizontal lines on the smartphone. Some iPhone 14 Pro/ Pro Max users had reported horizontal lines that appear on their screens on startup. The lines appear randomly and disappear after a few seconds. These horizontal lines also appear when the iPhone is waking up and this was widely reported.

Apple claims that the problem is not a hardware issue but an iOS bug. Some users have reported taking their smartphones to Apple Stores for the resolution of the problem. There is also speculation that the bug is tied to iOS 16.2. However, it was also speculated that the problem extends to the previous iOS builds.

An Apple Support Representative reported on Reddit, Apple is aware of the problem and it will be resolved soon with an upcoming update. Part of the official Apple statement said that the issue was due to the drivers and it was not a hardware issue.

While the horizontal lines problem is not very prevalent, it creates concern for users. Some users have suggested some ways to get over the problem. Multiple users have reported on Reddit that turning off the AOD will resolve the problem. Another suggestion is to turn off the phone manually and reset the device. These suggestions are at best, stop-gap measures and a bug fix via an update remains the surest solution.

Apple is expected to provide more information on the issue and subsequently release the software update to fix the bug. Apple has been facing disruption in its iPhone production site in China. Now, a new report has revealed that this has led to the company seeing a production shortfall for some of its iPhone Pro units this year.

For those unaware, the iPhone production site in China is situated in Zhengzhou and was the largest iPhone manufacturing factory in the world and was run by Foxconn. Recently, we had reported on various issues faced by this hub, including local COVID-19 lockdown and even a violent riot. Now, according to a Bloomberg report, it seems that the situation in the iPhone plant has yet to be completely ironed out, which will likely lead to lost production and fall in unit production estimation.

So the improvement of this situation will also depend on the Taiwanese supplier getting its assembly line back on track and bringing people back for production following the violent protest. However, if the lockdown caused by COVID persists, then we can expect the production impacts to be even more severe. As of right now, the report claims that the company is seeing around a 6 million unit shortfall for its iPhone 14 Pro series models alone.

To recall, Foxconn’s largest factory faced those violent riots following the new hiring after the COVID-19 lockdown. This lockdown led to stricter restrictions on the site and tighter work regulations. Thus, some workers began protesting since they claimed that they had no knowledge of such restrictions during the hiring process, with the process soon turning violent.

Qualcomm had just recently announced its latest and greatest flagship chipset, which is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. While this is the company’s most powerful mobile processor so far, it appears that it still might be outperformed by the Apple A16 Bionic chip that powers the iPhone 14 Pro series.

This news arrives from a GeekBench benchmark listing (Via MacRumors), ahead of any Android smartphones that feature the new Qualcomm chip. However, looking at the early GeekBench benchmark results, the next gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was outpaced by the Apple iPhone 14 Pro model’s A16 Bionic chipset. The synthetic benchmarks revealed that the Snapdragon SoC scored 1483 points in the single core test and 4709 points in the multi core test. Meanwhile, the the A16 Bionic processor scored 1874 and 5372 points in the respective tests.

So it is clear that the Cupertino based giant’s new chips are still ahead of their Android counterparts. Interestingly enough, the last gen iPhone chips, the A15 Bionic, managed to score 1709 points in the single core tests, which is also higher than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This would have one question Qualcomm’s claim of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 revolutionizing “the landscape of flagship smartphones in 2023.”

Although the company did state that the advancements would being a “new standard for connected computing, intelligently engineered with groundbreaking AI across the board to enable extraordinary experiences.” In other words, raw performance bump isn’t the only thing new in the new 8 Gen 2 chipset. Keep in mind that benchmarks do not always reflect a better user experience or real life performance. But this does goes to show how Apple’s chips, even the older models, are still quite capable in the current market.

Samsung is currently serving Apple as a display supplier for its iPhones. All the iPhone 14 lineup models were packed with the panels supplied by Samsung displays. However, the premium smartphone maker has now decided to use other suppliers’ panels for its premium iPhone 14 Pro models. Apple will now reportedly use the panels supplied by LG Displays for the upcoming units of the iPhone 14 Pro.

It was previously reported that talks between Apple and LG Display over the supply of the OLED screen for iPhone 14 Pro variants are ongoing. There were discussions over the supply of LTPO TFT Type OLED panels. LG started supplying display panels for the 14 Pro since the last week of October, according to a source from ETNews. According to reports, LG Display was meant to be a component supplier of the Pro model supply chain, but due to the brand’s restriction, they couldn’t supply it earlier. Anyway, Apple ultimately approved its incorporation following an early production holdup.

Samsung Display will now supply screens for all four iPhone 14 models, LG Display will supply screens for two iPhone 14 models, and BOE will continue to supply screens for the iPhone 14. LG Display’s partnership with Apple reportedly extends beyond the iPhone 14 Pro versions. The display maker is apparently working on micro OLED displays for Apple’s AR headset, foldable panels for upcoming iPhone models, and trying to get into the OLED iPad supply chain.

Although the LTPO OLED technology was originally launched on the iPhone 13 Pro, this is LG Display’s first attempt to supply LTPO OLED to Apple for its devices. The inclusion of LTPO refresh rate technology along with the newly introduced pill-shaped notch cutout made the production hard for the supplier. For the past two years, Samsung Display has provided Apple with LTPO OLEDs for use in mobile devices.

In a press release, Apple confirmed the delay in production for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max which may lead to “longer wait times”. The Covid restrictions are affecting the production capacity at its iPhone factory in Zhengzhou. However, the company remains intact with its policy of “prioritizing the health and safety of the workers in our supply chain.”

The “strong demand” for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is still growing due to better specifications and the presence of the new Apple Bionic A16 chipset. However, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus sales are not as expected and even the company has scaled down its production capacity.

Some reports last month pointed towards a 30% decline in iPhone production due to Covid restrictions at the Foxconn production facility. Moreover, some workers even left the Foxconn facility due to long stays inside the building with limited food supplies during the Covid outbreak.

The Cupertino giant is gradually shifting away the production capacity from China to other countries. Apple started the iPhone 14 production in India to bridge the gap between demand and production. We expect Apple to normalise manufacturing with a similar approach if the prolonged Covid restrictions are affecting the overall capacity in China.

A new major upgrade for software like an operating system typically comes with some bugs at launch. However, it seems that the latest Apple iOS 16 update is riddled with them since a number of issues have been popping up recently. So here are all the details.

The new bugs in the iOS 16 affect not just the new iPhone 14 series models, but also the older iPhone 13 as well. Reportedly, some iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 13 have been facing an odd screen freezing bug. This basically means that there are animations glitches and at times the device stops working entirely. The issue first surfaced after iPhone users upgraded to te new iOS 16.1 update, which was released last week. A number of iPhone 14 Pro users have taken to social media to voice their concerns and showcase the issue.

The iPhone 14 Pro display can be see stuck on the Spotlight Search menu in one video on YouTube, despite the user trying to exit it. The device can’t reach the home screen either, although the app switcher is working, so it means that the iPhone isn’t completely unresponsive. Apart from the iPhones hanging up, the new iPhone 13 model users are also facing an even weirder display issue that turns the entire into green.

Similar to the previous bug, the issue arose after the iPhone 13 was upgraded to the iOS 16 update. Once the screen turns green, the device’s display is quite literally unusable with the only thing being displayed being the color green. If your iPhone is under warranty, you can get a free iPhone 13 display replacement. It remains to be seen when Apple will fix these issues, but there’s a good chance that the new iOS 16.2 update will address at least some of these bugs.

The Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max had just recently been launched in the global market. It is the company’s latest flagship grade handset, and it appears that the device has managed to beat some other high end competitors in a battery life comparison.

This battery comparison test was done by PhoneArena on its YouTube channel. In the test, the tech publication compared the new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to other flagship grade smartphones. This includes the like of the Google Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 6 Pro, and even the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. While this is admittedly not a very diverse lineup, the Pixel 7 Pro is one of the latest premium device, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra is one of iPhone 14 Pro series biggest competitors in the ultra premium segment.

Here, we can see the new 2022 iPhones dominating the list in multiple tests. The first had the smartphone put through a simulator to replicate typical web browsing. Both iPhone 14 Pro models were hours ahead of the competition. Taking a look at the results:

The top end iPhone 14 model recorded 11 hours of playback, while the Pixel 7 Pro had 9 hours and 39 minutes. Base iPhone 14 Pro offered around 9 hours and 14 minutes of runtime. While one would assume that its because both iPhones have the biggest batteries, but in actuality the two models have the smallest battery capacities in the entire list. So, Apple has clearly managed to offer a stellar battery life performance on its latest smartphones.

Following the iPhone 14 release, Google soon followed up with its own flagship smartphone release. This year, it announced the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, which aimed to once again showcase what a true Google phone or an Android phone with top notch software is like. The Pixel 6 series was the first generation of Pixel to feature the company’s proprietary chipset and the Pixel 7 lineup retains this, with a second gen Tensor G2 SoC. While this doesn’t bring a large performance bump in terms of raw power, it helps boost the more AI powered features that these phones offer, which is also what it is known for.

Furthermore, it also arrives with new and improved cameras, with the Pixel 7 Pro topping the DxOMark by tieing with the Honor Magic 4 Ultimate. So, we can safely assume that this is one of the best smartphone cameras. If this alone isn’t attractive enough, you get a number of exclusive Google features like speech recognition, Direct My call, and even some exclusive camera features like Photo Unblur, which lets you basically unblur any photo on your Pixel 7. This joins the likes of existing features like Magic Eraser. Both models also come with IP68 water and dust resistance rating. The Pixel 7 starts from 59,999 INR, while the Pixel 7 Pro goes for 84,999 INR.

Vivo X80 Pro

The Vivo X80 Pro is the top flagship offering from the Chinese brand. With the X80 series (excluding the X80 Pro+ in India), the company has offered premium handsets that feature top notch specs. The X80 Pro model features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, Quad HD AMOLED Display, and 80W fast charging support. The 6.78 inch panel also supports 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and an impressive peak brightness of 1500 nits.

Although, despite all of these robust features, its unique selling point is undoubtedly its camera setup. It has a quad camera setup with 50 megapixel primary sensor, 48-megapixel ultra wide angle lens, 12-megapixel telephoto lens, and an 8 megapixel periscope zoom lens as well. The camera module also features Zeiss optics and Zeiss T* lens coating, with its camera performance being praised across the board. The smartphone is currently listed on Flipkart and is priced at 79,999 INR.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 & Galaxy Z Flip 4

Since we’re talking about premium phones that offer a flagship experience, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are a pair of two true ultra premium foldable phones. Both of these features various improvements over their predecessors, which comes in the form of upgraded cameras, larger batteries, and even Android 12L, which is an Android OS made specifically for devices with large screens.

Apart from having a unique form factor than the other models in this list, these also offer a premium and durable design with its Armor Aluminum frames and hinge, which is also complimented by the exclusive Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ for the front and rear glass panels. This year Google did even more serious things than last year by releasing the new Google Pixel 7 Pro. While last year Big G came up with its first flagship after a lot of time not releasing any, this year the new flagship is even more outstanding and it retains a very affordable price if compared to flagships from the other brands, even though it remains a top-tier phone. But with that price, is it really able to compete with the iPhone 14 Pro? Is it worth spending more for the Apple flagship or you can save a lot of money by purchasing the Pixel while still getting a very high quality? This is a comparison between the main specifications of the iPhone 14 Pro and the Google Pixel 7 Pro which will hopefully help you find out. Note that the opinions in this comparison are also valid for the iPhone 14 Pro Max with the exception of the dimensions, the display diagonal, and the battery capacity, which are bigger on the Pro Max variant.

Design

Which design should you prefer? It is mostly a matter of taste. I personally prefer the iPhone 14 Pro for several reasons. First of all, it is way more compact, thanks to the presence of a smaller display. Further, it is built with better materials including glass for the back protected by Ceramic Shield and stainless steel for the frame. It even offers better water resistance with the IP68 certification allowing you to put it underwater up to 6 meters deep. Further, it comes with the iconic Dynamic Island, not liked by everyone but is a very futuristic feature. On the other hand, the Google Pixel 7 Pro offers a very original design including a horizontal bar for the rear cameras made of recycled material. It is built with a glass back and an aluminum frame, and it is waterproof with the IP68 certification allowing you to put it underwater up to 1.5 meters deep for a max time of 30 minutes.

Display

Here is a very hard fight since both phones come with outstanding flagship-class displays. Here, I would primarily choose by basing on the display diagonal: the iPhone 14 Pro has a compact 6.1-inch panel, while the Google Pixel 7 Pro has a big 6.7-inch panel: if you want a new phone for productivity, then the latter is a better choice in terms of display. For the rest, they both offer amazing displays, even though the iPhone 14 Pro should be slightly better. The Pixel has an AMOLED panel with a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels, the LTPO technology enabling an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, HDR10+ certification, an in-display fingerprint reader, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The iPhone 14 Pro has a Super Retina XDR OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1179 x 2556 pixels, an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, HDR10 certification, Dolby Vision support, as well as Ceramic Shield protection. In Dynamic Island, there are hardware sensors for Face ID, which is 3D facial recognition.

Specs & Software

The hardware of the iPhone 14 Pro is more convincing if paired with the amazing optimization of the iOS operating system. Camera

According to the experts of DxOMark, the Google Pixel 7 Pro is the best camera phone ever. It has a triple rear camera including a 50 MP main sensor with OIS and laser autofocus, a 48 MP telephoto camera with OIS and 5x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide sensor. The iPhone 14 Pro may not be the best ever, but it is still in the first places of the ranking with its 48 MP main camera paired with two 12 MP sensors for zoom and ultrawide shots.

Battery

The Google Pixel 7 Pro has a much bigger battery than the iPhone 14 Pro Max: if you want a comparable battery life from an Apple device, then you should go for the Pro Max.

The iPhone 14 Pro starts from €1300 or $1300 in Europe (prices vary depending on the market), while the Google Pixel 7 Pro costs just €899 or $899. Which one would you pick?

iPhone 14 Specifications

At an event on September 7, Apple announced the iPhone 14 series comprising iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max devices. For the first time, Apple introduced the iPhone Plus variant along with iPhone 14 carrying the previous year’s Apple A15 Bionic chip. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max come with Apple A6 Bionic chip.

iPhone 14 features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with 1170 x 2532 pixels resolution. It offers support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision. The display offers 1200 Nits brightness. The smartphone houses a dual-rear camera consisting of a 12MP (26mm) primary sensor and a 12MP (23mm) ultrawide sensor. There’s a 12MP front sensor 23mm wide present for selfies and video calling.

The iPhone 14 Plus features a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. It carries a 1284 x 2778 pixels resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by Apple A15 Bionic and is available in 128/256/512GB NVMe storage. The camera configuration remains the same as that of the iPhone 14.

iPhone 14 Pro features 6.1-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED while carrying 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10 support. The display is capable to reach 2000 nits in High Brightness Mode under direct sunlight. The smartphone ships with Apple’s latest A16 Bionic based on a 4nm process. It is available in 128/256/512/1TB storage options. In-camera configuration, the iPhone 14 Pro ships with a 48MP primary sensor measuring 24mm, and a 12MP telephoto 77mm sensor. The other two sensors include a 12MP ultrawide 13mm sensor and a TOF 3D LiDAR scanner. The primary and telephoto lens offers OIS stabilization. However, the front camera remains the same as on the iPhone 14.

iPhone 14 Pro Max embeds the same display panel but with a size of 6.7-inch. The display offers a 1290 x 2796 pixels resolution. Apart from this, it houses an improved battery than the iPhone 14 Pro. Other specifications remain the same as iPhone 14 Pro.

Since its launch, the Apple iPhone 14 series has made the news for various bugs and other issues. Now, the latest ones talk about a bug that makes the 2022 iPhone restart when charging and even have problems with network connectivity as well. So let’s have a look.

In a previous report, we had covered information regarding the iPhone 14 Pro series models facing issues with some basic system applications like iMessage. Now, it appears that the iPhone 14 Pro series users are also facing more issues with a number of other functions as well. This includes problems with the Dynamic Island feature and even the satellite phone functionality. Apart from this, the iPhone 14 Pro also has an issue with its Verizon users, who are reporting very weak 5G signals and other network coverage issues.

Both of these are notable features that the Cupertino based giant had marketed heavily during the iPhone 14 series announcement. But the bugs don’t just stop there, the new flagship Apple phones also has another major issue that affects its charging. The iPhone 14 Pro models will restart while charging through both the MagSafe wireless charging and the lightning cable as well.

This is not the only issue with the new iPhone’s battery since the battery life problems have also plagued Apple iPhones since iOS 16 came out. So far, there is no official out for it, but the bug is not affecting everyone at the moment. There is an unofficial fix going around online, which is to disable the background app refresh. This can be found by going into Settings through the General tab and scrolling to and selecting the Background App Refresh.

The iPhone 14 lineup was released this month with the Pro model emerging as the second-most popular model in the 2022 lineup. There are speculations that the iPhone 14 Pro’s wireless charging capability is hampered by the phone’s thick camera housing. Multiple complaints have been made by users in several forums to highlight the problem. They claim that there is a lack of compatibility between wireless chargers and the iPhone 14 Pro with the camera bump preventing some devices from charging the smartphone.

The large camera bump of the iPhone 14 Pro is a distinguishing external feature from its predecessors. The cameras come with greater power but users have reported uncontrollable shaking while using third-party apps. The bumpy camera setup could also be causing compatibility issues with wireless chargers.

An aggregation of user reports from multiple platforms on the issue has been made by Piunikaweb. It is difficult for most magnetic chargers to disengage the chassis and hold the phone in place for charging. There are no specifics on the brands of wireless chargers that are affected in this category. It is also important to note that no similar complaints for the iPhone 14 Pro Max or the iPhone 14 have been reported yet.

The iPhone 14 Pro is a couple of weeks old and the number of users reporting this issue will likely rise in the coming weeks as new buyers get the model. Apple may also need to douse the fears by providing an explanation and possible solutions to the problem. There are also no indications of the demographics of the complaint whether they are emanating from a particular region or diverse regions.

Apple released the new iPhone 14 Pro and it went on sale all around the world a few days ago. Unlike the previous generation, with this new one, there are several important differences from the previous model. Elements of the design change, as well as hardware components, cameras, and more. Instead, the notch of the iPhone 13 Pro does not have any utility in the display of the phone. On the other hand, the iPhone 13 Pro is slightly more compact and slightly thinner because it packs a smaller battery. For the rest, these two devices are not so different: the camera modules are similar and even the rest of their bodies are similar to each other.

Display

The displays of these two phones do not differ too much and they have almost the same specifications. They are Super Retina XDR OLED with a diagonal of 6.1 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, the HDR10 certification, and Dolby Vision support. The only important difference between these displays is the brightness: the iPhone 14 Pro is able to go up to 2,000 nits, while its predecessor has a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. These phones do not sport fingerprint readers for authentication, unlike Android phones. Instead, they support 3D facial recognition with Face ID technology. The sensors for Face ID, as already mentioned, are placed in the Dynamic Island placed centrally on the upper part of the display.

Specs & Software

The iPhone 14 Pro comes with an upgraded processor if compared to the previous generation. It has an Apple A16 Bionic built with a 4 nm production process and with an octa-core architecture. The mobile platform is composed of two Everest performance cores running at a max frequency of 3.46 GHz, four Sawtooth energy efficient cores running at a max frequency of 2.02 GHz, and an Apple proprietary GPU with 5 cores. Alongside the chipset, there are 6 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of internal storage, depending on the chosen configuration you can choose between 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB. You can get the same memory configurations with the iPhone 13 Pro, but with an inferior processor. We are referring to the Apple A15 Bionic, built with a 5 nm production process and an octa-core architecture. This chipset packs two Avalanche performance cores running at a max frequency of 3.23 GHz, four Blizzard cores running at 1.82 GHz, and an Apple GPU with 5 cores.

Camera

The iPhone 14 Pro is even equipped with a superior camera. Its main sensor has a resolution of 48 MP and it is the first 48 MP sensor ever seen on an iPhone, with OIS support and phase detection autofocus. Instead, the iPhone 13 Pro has a 12 MP main camera. The secondary sensors of these phones are the same: a 12 MP ultrawide lens and a 12 MP ultrawide camera, as well as a TOF 3D LiDAR scanner (but with different focal apertures). Even the front cameras are the same 12 MP snapper but with a different focal aperture.

Battery

The iPhone 14 Pro packs a bigger battery: 3200 mAh against just 3095 mAh of the iPhone 13 Pro. Alongside the more efficient 4 nm chipset, it provides longer battery life. The charging technologies are the same, including MagSafe which can also be used to connect external accessories such as battery cases.

Price

The iPhone 14 Pro starts from $999 or €1,200 (prices vary depending on the market), while the iPhone 13 Pro used to start from $899/€1189, but it is way more affordable now, thanks to street prices.

Apple finally chose to do something about the notch that many find unsightly. The new iPhone 14 Pro models come with a versatile feature that the company, for some reason, calls “Dynamic Island.” It is designed to surface various types of alerts, notifications, and interactions. However, Android users don’t need to feel left, there’s a free app on the Play Store that offers a similar experience on any Android smartphone.

A new app called DynamicSpot, which is developed by Jawomo, can mimic Apple’s Dynamic Island to some extent. The app is currently available for free on the Play Store, and it lets you adjust the position and size of the “island” based on where the notch is located on your Android device.

It also offers numerous customizations. It allows you to select what kind of notifications show up on your screen. Moreover, DynamicSpot can also show two popup notifications at once. The free version of the app comes with limited functions. However, if you wish to test its full potential, you can pay $4.99 and get the Pro option.

We didn’t try the paid version of the app ourselves. But the folks at Phonearena who gave it a shot suggest it unlocks more features. For instance, it gives users the ability to display DynamicSpot on the lock screen and access single-tap and long-press actions.

As mentioned, the app can be downloaded for free and has no ads. However, it is still in the beta phase and there could be some issues with the compatibility. Moreover, the app may even have some bugs.

In any case, this is your best chance to get Apple’s Dynamic Island on your Android phone until Android manufacturers decide to bring a similar alternative.

Xiaomi is set to launch the Xiaomi Civi 2 in China on September 27. Ahead of that, the company is teasing the features of its next-gen lifestyle smartphone.

Yesterday, the firm revealed the rear design of the handset. Today, it has disclosed the phone’s front design as well as selfie camera specs.

As per the details shared by the brand today, the Xiaomi Civi 2 will sport a pill-shaped cutout for two front-facing cameras. This pill will be located at the top center, just like on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Android smartphones have had pill-shaped holes for cameras in the past. But the Xiaomi Civi 2 will be the first handset with the pill at the center. On previous phones, the pills were either on the top left or top right sides.

Further, Xiaomi says that the cutout will house dual 32MP cameras. The primary sensor will feature ALD anti-glare coating, f/2.0 aperture, and autofocus support. While the secondary sensor will be equipped with an ultra-wide lens. 

The two cameras will be accompanied by quad-LED flashlights. A pair of LED lights will sit on either side of the earpiece.

As per previous teasers, the phone will measure 7.23mm in thickness and weigh 171.8g. Reports say that it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, which the company is yet to officially confirm.

Unlike the original Xiaomi Civi and Xiaomi Civi 1S, the upcoming Xiaomi Civi 2 will likely launch outside China. However, the actual marketing name is a mystery for now.

The iPhone 14 Pro is not a revolution but it is an amazing upgrade if compared to its predecessor from the 13 series. It comes with the new Dynamic Island instead of the old notch and it comes with very narrow bezels sporting the same thickness on all the sides.

Display

The displays of these two phones are very close to each other and it is very hard to choose the best. I would personally go for the Vivo X80 Pro just for its wider diagonal which makes it more suitable for productivity and gaming, at 6.78 inches. There will be definitely a better phone in terms of image quality, but the differences are marginal. The Vivo X80 Pro has an AMOLED display able to show up to one billion colors with a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+ certification. The iPhone 14 Pro is equipped with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 1179 x 2556 pixels (you can consider it as Full HD+), a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10, and Dolby Vision. The iPhone provides higher brightness as it is able to reach 2,000 nits instead of just 1,500 nits.

Specs & Software

These two handsets are very close to each other even when it comes to hardware and performance, even though the iPhone 14 Pro should provide something more thanks to the amazing optimization of the iOS 16 operating system. It is powered by the Apple A16 Bionic mobile platform built with a 4 nm production process and sporting an hexa-core architecture composed of two Everest performance cores running at a max frequency of 3.46 GHz, four Sawtooth energy cores running at 2.02 GHz, and an Apple GPU with 5 cores. Alongside the Apple A16 Bionic, there are 6 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of native storage. The Vivo X80 Pro has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset built at 4 nm with an octa-core architecture and a max frequency of 3 GHz, but there is also a variant with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset running at a max frequency of 3.05 GHz. The memory configurations offer up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of native UFS 3.1 storage.

Camera

The Vivo X80 Pro looks better in terms of cameras and it should be way more versatile when it comes to photography. It has a 50 MP main sensor with OIS, an 8 MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and OIS, a 12 MP telephoto camera for portraits with 2x optical zoom and gimbal OIS, and a 48 MP ultrawide sensor, all with Zeiss lenses. The iPhone 14 Pro has a triple camera including a 48 MP main sensor with OIS and a pair of 12 MP cameras for optical zoom and ultrawide shoots.

Battery

The battery of the Vivo X80 Pro is much bigger than the one found on the iPhone 14 Pro: it has a capacity of 4700 mAh. Further, it is able to charge quicker thanks to 80W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

Price

The starting prices of the Vivo X80 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro are €1300 and $1300 in the global market, but the X80 Pro can be found at more affordable street prices. Which one would you pick?

The news arrives from a tweet from known analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo. He stated that the Cupertino based giant is planning on asking its suppliers to move away production capacity from the vanilla iPhone 14 model to the more expensive iPhone 14 Pro versions. It is making the shift due to the latter seeing higher demand, so raising their production should help raise sales in the fourth and final quarter of this year.

As of right now, Apple has apparently told Foxconn to raise iPhone 14 Pro series production, to increase the ASP (Average Selling Price) of its latest iPhone lineup. In other words, the analyst is expecting the increased shipments and sales to raise the ASP of the 2022 iPhones by around 10 percent. For those unaware, the brand had announced the iPhone 14 series during its Far Out event, with the new models featuring various improvements over the previous generation iPhone 13.

The new series included a brand new iPhone 14 Plus, which replaced the mini model while the Pro variants also brought a major change in design on the front. Meanwhile, the rear on these higher end variants also saw a bump in camera specifications as well. Interestingly, this news isn’t completely surprising since the Pro models in the iPhone 13 and even the iPhone 12 series performed better in the global market, which is also something Apple clearly recognizes.

Design

There is definitely no challenge: if you need the most elegant design and the best build quality, then you should go for the iPhone 14 Pro. It is built with premium materials such as Ceramic Shield for the rear side and stainless steel for the frame, so it is very solid. It is more compact than its rival and it is waterproof with the IP68 certification allowing you to put it underwater up to 6 meters deep for a max time of 30 minutes. It is thinner than the Xiaomi and it is very beautiful with its narrow bezels sporting the same thickness on all the sides. On the display side, it is a very hard fight. In terms of specifications, these two devices are very close. But it looks like the image quality provided by the iPhone 14 Pro is hard to match. This handset comes with a Super Retina XDR OLED panel sporting a diagonal of 6.1 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1179 x 2556 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, the HDR10 certification, Dolby Vision support, and a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. The Xiaomi 12 Pro is equipped with an AMOLED display able to show up to one billion colors with a diagonal of 6.73 inches, a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, the HDR10+ certification, and Dolby Vision support, as well as a 1,500 nit peak brightness. The methods of authentication are different: with the iPhone, you get 3D facial recognition, while Xiaomi has an in-display fingerprint reader. Thanks to the LTPO technology, the displays of these phones come with an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz and they support Always-On Display with a very low refresh rate.

The hardware departments of these two phones are at the same level, but the iPhone 14 Pro is able to provide higher performance because the iOS operating system has better optimization compared to Android. Camera

Now, the cameras. The iPhone 14 Pro should be able to provide better photo quality thanks to its amazing software optimizations and sensors. It is the first Apple phone with a 48 MP main camera, paired with a 12 MP ultrawide lens and a 12 MP telephoto sensor. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 12 Pro remains great with its triple camera including three 50 MP sensors. We believe the iPhone will behave better, but Xiaomi remains one of the best camera phones out there.

The battery of the Xiaomi 12 Pro is much bigger, but the improvements in terms of battery life are not very evident if we compare it to the iPhone 12 Pro. What really changes are the charging speeds, thanks to its amazing 120W fast charging technology.

It is built with a glass back protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, it has an aluminum frame, and the IP68 certification (up to 1.5 meters for a max time of 30 minutes).

It is a very hard fight between the displays of these two phones. The Apple iPhone 14 Pro has a Super Retina XDR OLED display with a diagonal of 6.1 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1179 x 2556 pixels, the LTPO technology enabling an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, the HDR10 certification, Dolby Vision support, and a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. The Google Pixel 6 Pro has an AMOLED display with a wider 6.71-inch diagonal, a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels, an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, the HDR10+ certification, and an in-display fingerprint reader. I personally prefer the Google Pixel 6 Pro because of its wider diagonal, better for productivity and gaming, but the iPhone 14 Pro might provide way higher image quality.

Both these phones are equipped with a flagship-class hardware department, but the Apple iPhone 14 Pro should be able to provide higher performance in a lot of scenarios thanks to the great optimization of the iOS operating system. The chipset comes with 6 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of native storage depending on the chosen configuration. The Google Pixel 6 Pro gets a Google Tensor chipset built at 5 nm and with an octa-core architecture, as well as a max clock frequency of 2.8 GHz. The chipset is paired with 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of native storage. The iPhone runs iOS 16 and it will get the longest software support Apple is able to provide, while the Pixel runs Android 12 and it will get the same from Google.

Camera

Both these phones feature astonishing camera setups as well as amazing software to manage these cameras. The iPhone 14 Pro is the first iPhone with a 48 MP main camera and it also comes with a telephoto sensor and an ultrawide lens with 12 MP resolution. The Google Pixel 6 Pro sports a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 48 MP telephoto sensor with 4x optical zoom, and an ultrawide lens with a 12 MP resolution. Which one will shoot the best photos? It is yet to be discovered.

Apple had just recently unveiled its highly anticipated the iPhone 14 series. But it seems that the launch didn’t go as smooth as planned with the new iPhone models suffering from some bugs with basic system apps like FaceTime and iMessages. Now, a new report has revealed that the camera on the higher end Pro models is also facing a bug as well.

According to an AppleInsider report, various users across the globe have been facing issues with their new iPhone 14 Pro series cameras. For those unaware, the iPhone 14 Pro series features a 48 megapixel primary camera on the rear that features an Action Mode for smoother video capture. But, it seems like some third party applications are facing an issue when using this new camera sensor.

As of right now, various owners of the 2022 iPhones have found that the camera module is shaking when they use popular social media apps like Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat. The camera issue makes the videos appear very unstable with a lot of shaking. This, in turn, renders these captured videos on social media unusable. Furthermore, complaints of this issue has also reached Reddit, with posts being shared regarding the same bug.

At the moment, it is believed that the shaking of the OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) system is the primary reason for this issue. Notably, the issue does not affect the base iPhone 14 model since it uses an older OIS system as compared to Apple’s second generation Sensor Shift OIS technology for its new 48 megapixel primary camera.

The Apple iPhone 14 series is finally going on sale in India today (16th September 2022). Alongside the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the company has also began the open sale for the Watch Series 8 and the new Watch SE as well.

For those unaware, the Cupertino based giant had announced its new smartwatch along with its latest iPhone models. As of right now, the new iPhone 14 lineup will be available for purchase starting from 5:30 pm IST through Apple India Online Store, Flipkart, and other official authorized retailers as well. All of the new products from the brand were announced earlier this month during its Far Out event and now are finally available for purchase.

Starting with the 2022 iPhones, the iPhone 14 has been launched in India in three variants, namely 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The base model starts from 79,990 INR, while the 256GB and 512GB configurations cost 89,900 INR and 109,900 INR respectively. There are also special launch offers available with HDFC Bank Card holders being offered a 5,000 INR cashback. The company is also offering no cost EMI and exchange offers as well. The new iPhone 14 arrives in all new colors, including Midnight, Starlight, Blue, Purple and Red.

Moving forward, the iPhone 14 Pro starts from 1,29,900 INR for the base 128GB model. On the other hand, its 256GB costs 1,39,900 INR while its 512GB version has a price tag of 159,900 INR. Notably, its top end 1TB storage option will set you back a whopping 179,900 INR. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts from 139,900 INR for its 128GB variant, while its 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB options cost 149,900 INR, 169,900, and 189,900 INR respectively.

The iPhone 14 Pro series models have been launched in multiple color options, including Black, Silver, Gold, and Deep Purple. Similar to the base variant, the customers that have an HDFC Bank card can claim up to 4,000 INR cashback on the purchase of either the iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max. Unlike the base iPhone 14, which features the same design and chipset as the iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 Pro models have the new A16 Bionic chip and a 48 megapixel triple camera setup on the back. It also features a new pill shaped punch hole on the front that enables the new Dynamic Island feature.

Talking about the Apple Watches now, the Watch Series 8 has been released in 4 different options, namely 41mm GPS only, 41mm GPS and Cellular enabled version, 45mm GPS only, and 45mm GPS and Cellular enabled model. Notably, both Cellular models are also offered in two variants, which is the Aluminum or Stainless Steel. The Watch Series 8 starts from 45,900 INR and arrives in Gold Graphite, Silver, Midnight, Starlight, and Red color options. HDFC is again offering 3,000 INR cashback on purchasing the Series 8 for its cardholders.

Lastly, the second generation Watch SE has also been launched in India and it is also offered in two sizes (40mm and 44mm) along with a GPS only and Cellular enabled models. It is available in multiple colors as well, including midnight, starlight, and silver options. HDFC bank card holders can get a cashback of up to 2,000 INR.

With Apple finally announcing the highly anticipated iPhone 14 series, reviews have been going live for the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro models, which have revealed some interesting details regarding its new Always On Display feature. So let’s have a look.

Unlike typical Always On Displays found on Android smartphones, the new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max’s AOD is slightly different. We don’t see the classic black background, rather just a very dimly lit screen. But, it appears that the Cupertino based giant used this to bring support for a number of its applications. By support, we mean added functionality, as the AOD on the iPhone 14 Pro series can work with Apple TV Remote, Maps, Phone, Voice Memos, and more.

According to Brian Tong’s review, the new iPhone Always On Display works with multiple apps. For example, when using the Map app, the map itself is hidden and only the directions, arrival time, and distance remaining are displayed. Similarly, the Phone and Voice Memos apps have various parts of its interface dimmed down.

Another report from CNBC’s Sofia Pitt found that the AOD on the iPhone 14 Pro series also works with the Apple TV Remote feature in Control Center. In other words, it can be used in a dimmed manner without having to unlock your new iPhone. This remote feature works with all Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD models, and even the third generation TV, AirPlay 2 enabled smart TVs as well.

The iPhone 14 Pro ditches the notch in favor of a pill-shaped punch hole including the front camera and the sensors for Face ID, while the vanilla version still comes with a notch, even though it is a smaller notch just like the 13 series. Another difference is the camera module because the Pro variant has more sensors on the rear side. Further, the vanilla version is slightly more compact and lighter. Last but not least, the Pro is built with better material: it has a glass back and a stainless steel frame, while the vanilla version is equipped with an aluminum frame. These are the main differences when it comes to aesthetics and, as you probably realized, they are very relevant.

Display

The displays of the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro share a lot of things in common, but there are two main aspects in which the Pro variant is definitely better. The first one is the refresh rate, as it reaches 120 Hz instead of the standard 60 Hz. Further, with the Pro variant, you can get higher brightness, up to 2,000 nits. And naturally, the panels differ on the upper part due to the punch hole on the Pro variant and the notch on the vanilla version, but we already told you about this. For the rest, these displays are exactly the same thing. They are Super Retina XDR OLED panels with a diagonal of 6.1 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels, HDR10+ certification, and Dolby Vision support. Unlike Android phones, you do not get an in-display fingerprint reader for authentication, but these devices rely on 3D facial recognition thanks to the Face ID technology.

Specs & Software

One of the most important differences between the vanilla and the Pro version this year is definitely the chipset. With the iPhone 14 Pro, you get the new Apple A16 Bionic SoC built with a 4 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture. It is able to reach a frequency of 3.46 GHz and it includes a 5-core proprietary GPU. The chipset is paired with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB of NVMe native storage depending on the chosen configuration. Unfortunately, the vanilla version is powered by the old Apple A15 Bionic chipset: the same SoC as the iPhone 13 lineup. It is built with a 5 nm production process and it has an octa-core architecture including two Avalanche performance cores with a max frequency of 3.23 GHz, four Blizzard energy-efficient cores with a frequency of 1.82 GHz, and a 5-core proprietary GPU. Both phones run iOS 16 out of the box.

Camera

Another important upgrade of the Pro variant is definitely the camera setup. This is the first Apple device equipped with a 48 MP rear camera. So this phone has a quad rear camera setup including a 48 MP main sensor with sensor-shift OIS, a 12 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, a 12 MP ultrawide camera, and a TOF 3D LiDAR scanner. On the front, you get a 12 MP selfie snapper with an f/1.9 focal aperture (improved if compared to the previous generation) and a 3D sensor for Face ID. The iPhone 14 has the same front department, but on the rear side, it only sports a 12 MP main camera with OIS and a 12 MP ultrawide camera.

Battery

Unfortunately, Apple did not announce the battery capacities of these two devices at the launch and still, no one discovered them. We do not have info about the battery life and the battery capacities of these two phones, but we can tell you that the iPhone 13 had a bigger battery than the Pro. Both the handsets feature fast charging and they are able to fill 50 percent of the battery in 30 minutes. They also feature MagSafe wireless charging with a power of 15W and Qi wireless charging with a power of 7.5W.

Price

Prices of iPhones vary depending on the market. the iPhone 14 starts from $999/€999, while the Pro starts from $1299/€1300. Which one would you pick with your actual budget?

A couple of days ago, Apple launched the iPhone 14 series globally. The devices pack new features like emergency satellite connectivity, a refreshed UI experience, camera improvements, and the A16 Bionic chipset on the Pro models, to name a few.

The devices are yet to reach the customers. However, someone has already managed to install and run Geekbench on a Pro model. So let’s take a look at the performance.

The well-known tipster Ice Universe has shared a Geekbench result of what appears to be an A16 Bionic-powered iPhone. It is unclear if it is the Pro or the Pro Max model; however, the benchmark in itself isn’t that impressive. The new chip scores 1879 points on the single-core test and 4664 points on the multi-core test. For comparison, the A15-equipped iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max models usually manage scores of around 1730 points on the single-core tests and 4700 points on the multi-core tests.

If this is indeed the Geekbench score of an A16-equipped iPhone, it might answer the question of why Apple chose to compare the chipset to the older A13 Bionic rather than the A15 Bionic chipset of last year. The company might have opted to go with more efficiency rather than performance this time around, as it has claimed that the chips consume 20% less power than before.

Yesterday, Apple officially unveiled the iPhone 14 series at its ‘Far Out Event’. The latest iPhones were accompanied by AirPods Pro 2nd Gen, Apple Watch Series 8, and Apple Watch Ultra. Unsurprisingly, the American tech giant also announced the discontinuation of select older iPhones.

Just like every year, the incoming Pro models have replaced the outgoing Pro models in Apple’s iPhone lineup. In other words, the company has officially discontinued the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max from 2021.

The iPhone 13 Pro series brought some major upgrades. It introduced features like a 120Hz LTPO display, an improved triple camera system, much better battery life, and more.

Further, the firm discontinues the iPhone 11 from 2019. It was the first base iPhone with a dual-camera setup, 4GB RAM, 18W wired charging support, and more.

Lastly, Apple also discontinues the iPhone 12 Mini from 2020. It was the first Mini iPhone, one of the first 5G iPhones, and the most affordable iPhone with an OLED display at the launch.

Apple has just announced the latest iPhone 14 series of smartphones this week, but fans and online netizens have already begun to create and share hilarious memes of Apple’s latest flagship lineup on Twitter. Here’s a roundup of the 4 viral memes shared about the iPhone 14 series so far.

This year’s iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max ditch the traditional Apple notch on the front display, for the new pill-shaped cutout, marketed as the “Dynamic Island”. However, one Twitter user, @malditoleandro can’t seem to keep his mind away from the resemblance of the new iPhone 14 Pro design to the popular online multiplayer game, Among Us.

As pointed out in the wallpaper illustration of his Twitter post, the iPhone, the new “Dynamic Island” is very similar to the spacesuit worn by the crewmates in the multiplayer social deduction game, Among Us that went viral during the COVID lockdowns. 

What makes the meme funny is that online users try searching for items in real life that seem to resemble the design of the crewmate in Among Us, calling it sus, or an imposter, as if they are playing the game in real life.

2. Is it just me or is my old iPhone getting slower?

Like many Apple iPhone releases in prior years, many iPhone users reported that their older iPhones were getting slower after getting the latest iOS update after the newest iPhone had been announced. Twitter user, @insanetweet shares a meme video showing how their iPhone load times after the Apple iPhone 14 event today.

The video shows obvious stuttering of a girl dancing, implying that the performance of their iPhone X has gotten slower. The tweet has since garnered over 150K likes, implying that many iPhone users feel the same situation is happening to them as well.

Although Apple was previously proven in court of deliberately slowing down older iPhones years prior, it could be a matter of the Placebo Effect on older iPhone users, as when they see a new iPhone released, they perceive their older iPhones to be inferior and slower.

3. Organ Donations for the new iPhone 14

Excluding the US, the new iPhone 14 series launch prices are comparatively 10 to 30 percent higher than last year’s iPhone 13 series launch. Along with the price increase, Twitter user @jayshompy shares a video of them walking out in the open with a glucose drip bag after selling their left lung to buy the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Jokes similar to this have already been circulating around the Internet ever since the launch of the first iPhone where buyers claim that they sold their kidneys to buy the latest iPhone.

The reason for the price increase of the iPhone 14 series globally could be that of rising inflation and wages across the world, as well as the USD exchange rate index going strong against foreign currencies, thus when converted into local pricing, it is 10 to 30 percent more expensive in the region that you are living in.

4. New Number, Familiar Face

The standard iPhone 14 series this year, didn’t include as much as upgrades as the iPhone 14 Pro series. In fact, the standard iPhone 14 still has the same notch, the same dual camera setup and the same A15 Bionic SoC found on last year’s iPhone 13.
