DisplayMate has crowned the new Apple iPhone X as having the best display ever made for a smartphone. This effectively knocks off the Galaxy Note 8 which was announced about two months ago with that title. Apart from the new title, the iPhone X also got an A+ grade for the build quality. 

The iPhone X packs an OLED display that was built by Samsung Displays and they get the credit for the awesome A+ grade but unfortunately, this isn’t on a Samsung model. DisplayMate’s extensive analysis of the iPhone X display shows that it sets OLED display record for having the highest full-screen brightness (634 nits), lowest screen resistance of 4.5%, the smallest brightness variations from different viewing angles and several others. The iPhone X perhaps trumps the Galaxy Note 8 as a result of Apple’s impressive precision colour calibration on the flagship iPhone X.

The iPhone X keeps u with the trend of 2017 by packing a 5.8-inch OLED display with a taller height-to-width aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a bezel-less display. The display has  2.5K Higher Resolution Full HD+ with a resolution power of 1125 x 2436 pixels with a pixel density of 458 ppi.

Apple‘s iPhone X is unarguably a beautiful smartphone, far more beautiful than the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The device adopts a Full-view display design different from previous Apple iPhones and that seems to be the major selling point of the model just like the Galaxy S8. In addition to a full-screen design, the iPhone X also features a glass back panel. Granted, Apple says the glass up on the front and back are made from the strongest glass that’s ever appeared on a smartphone. You really won’t want to test how true Apple’s claim is as a couple of drop tests have proved otherwise.

Now, what could be the first broken iPhone X in the hands of a fan have appeared on a Russian Twitter handle. The photo was attached to a tweet and it shows the rear glass on an iPhone X that was completely shattered after its owner dropped the device same day it was bought. The tweeter did not give details of how the iPhone X got to sustain such massive damage but it is bizarre that such damage was the result of a single fall. It looks like what was smashed by a truck. This even looks worse than an iPhone X that had undergone the drop test routine.

This doesn’t in anyway suggest the iPhone X isn’t a durable device but for a phone that sells for up to a thousand grand ($1,000). You’ll definitely want to prevent any damage from occurring by sparing a few extra bucks for a case to protect your investment. If you wish to have it unprotected in order to showcase its true beauty then be ready for a visit to the repair shop as soon as it drops from your hand. The phone doesn’t come cheap so, don’t expect a new body panel to come cheap.

Apple’s flagship iPhone X is expected to go on sale on November 10 while pre-orders opened on October 27 with the tech giant revealing that customer’s demands were off the charts. The full-screen model also saw a surge in its pre-orders in China and is expected to be a sell-out when the sales own on November 3. Ahead of that, we bring you a couple of hands-on photos of the iPhone X fresh out of the box right from China courtesy of Sina Technologies. This may not be the first hands-on we’ll be seeing of the 10th Anniversary iPhone butthe device is always a beauty to behold.

The device features a unique design never before seen on an Apple iPhone since its inception. The iPhone X has a body made of glass and metal as was first seen on iPhone 4 from 2010. The glass is reinforced with internal and copper structure which makes it the strongest glass ever used on a smartphone. The uniqueness lies in the display where the device packs a full-screen display almost devoid of bezels. For the first time, Apple used a 5.8-inch OLED screen on the iPhone with an 1125 x 2436p resolution and that is perhaps the ultimate selling point of the device, the display. The iPhone X also comes with an IP68 certification which makes it water and dust resistant. It comes in two colours, Silver and Space Gray.

The packaging box for the iPhone X has the front view of the device printed on it, perhaps to protect the display which is its major selling point. Inside the box, you’ll find the phone, a power adapter, a lightning to USB cable, a SIM tray ejector, user manual and a pair of Apple AirPods. You should check out more photos from below.

Apple’s iPhone X is no doubt the most spectacular product the company among the trio of smartphones the tech giant announced last month. A lot is already known about the iPhone X but usually, Apple doesn’t reveal the retail box of its iPhones before they go on sale. Not in this case, though, as the tech giant seems to have revealed the iPhone X’s packaging. The iPhone X’s retail box was included as part of the iPhone Upgrade Program imagery. 

This isn’t very spectacular but it may be a bit interesting that Apple chose to show what the packaging looks like now, as that’s usually something that’s kept under wraps. The packaging itself shows that the main image at the top of the box is the iPhone X’s front view instead of the back view as is the case with the iPhone 8 and iPhone 7 series. The box for the iPhone 6 featured an embossed outline of the phone, while the iPhone 6s box showed the front of the phone in a similar fashion, but that is in order to highlight Live Wallpapers which the device features.

This isn’t too surprising considering that most of the changes which differentiates the iPhone X from other models were effected in the front aspect. Apple perhaps aim to highlight the bezel-less design without a physical home button and other features the iPhone X comes with. 

It isn’t 100% certain that Apple will utilize this design for the iPhone X retail box but we can take it that this is the packaging box for the 2017 flagship iPhone X since it is coming out directly from Apple.

Apple‘s latest full-screen flagship – iPhone X was officially announced a few weeks back but as usual, some of the specifications of the device like the battery capacity are still unknown. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus suffered the same fate until their battery capacities and RAM sizes were revealed on their TENAA filings. The iPhone X has now appeared on TENAA, revealing the battery size and a couple of other specs.

The TENAA listing shows the iPhone X’s battery has a slightly larger 2,716mAH capacity than that of the iPhone 8 Plus which packs a 2,675mAh battery. It also dwarfs the iPhone 8’s battery with a capacity of 1,821mAh. No worries, though, this is Apple’s iPhone and with the latest, power-efficient A11 processor and OS the iPhone X sport, the battery size won’t pose a challenge.

Apart from the battery size, the TENAA listing also shows the iPhone X with model number A1865 packs a 5.85-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1125 x 2436 pixels. The iPhone X will be available in white, black and Rose Gold colours in China. In addition, there is 3GB of RAM, and three storage variants of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. The iPhone X packs a dual rear camera setup with the main sensor being a 12MP sensor while at the front there is an 8MP sensor. No word yet on when it would be launched in China.

Apple finally unveiled its 2017 flagship smartphones which came out as iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. All three iPhones are coming out exactly 10 years after the launch of the first iPhones which introduced numerous design concepts that have been adopted by modern smartphone platforms, such as the use of multi-touch gestures for navigation, virtual physical controls including keyboard in favor of those rendered by the operating system itself on its touchscreen and several others. The iPhone X camera mounts the spotlight with its AR-friendly dual camera setup at the rear. The dual cameras consist of a 12MP f1.8 sensor and a second 12 MP  f2.4  telephoto lens with 2X zoom. Both camera modules come with optical image stabilization which is a new addition. There is also portrait mode capability along with new real-time lighting effects allowing you to dramatically alter the look of your subject. The camera also comes with Portrait mode on the front-facing camera as well which is yet another first on an iPhone. With such camera setup we wouldn’t expect the iPhone X to disappoint in its picture quality and to prove the camera prowess, Apple has shared some really stunning camera samples.  On the other hand, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus also come capable and improved cameras, both having new sensors. Apple stuck with a single rear and front camera on the iPhone 8 while the 8 Plus comes with a second 2X zoom camera but with much improvements from last year’s cameras. They both feature a 12MP sensor at the rear and a 7MP front camera.

Since the sensors inside the iPhones are brand new, camera quality looks set to have a lot of improvements both on the hardware and software sides. software-wise, there is a new mode on the 8 Plus which Apple dubbed Portrait Lighting which will enable for real-time color optimizations. Apple claims the new mode will be better than the regular filters found on camera apps. Apart from still photos, video shooting also gets a boost as a result of Apple’s new in-house video encoder which will analyze each frame in tiny pieces and detect what each one of them contains, and then optimize video quality accordingly.
