It is not a case if it is one of the most expensive smartphones out there. But is it worth the money asked? Should you buy it with that high price tag ahead of its official launch on the global market? Well, one of the best ways to establish it is comparing with the other expensive phones in the market. iPhones are the symbol of elitist phones, that is why we decided to compare it with the iPhone Xs Max. And given its higher price compared to the most important Android competitors, we also chose the most expensive variant of the S line-up: the Galaxy S10 5G. Here is an in-depth specs comparison between the most amazing top-tier phones by Samsung and Apple.

Design

The iPhone Xs Max offers the best materials (stainless steel frame instead of aluminum), the most symmetric design and even the most compact size. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ has a higher screen-to-body ratio, but it is a very big phablet due to its huge display. Samsung Galaxy S10 5G comes with an in-display camera and a higher screen-to-body ratio than iPhone Xs Max, as well as smaller dimensions than The Galaxy Note 10+. There is not a clear winner here, it is all up to the user’s tastes.

Display

If I had to choose the best display I would have no doubt: Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ wins. It has a wider panel, it supports the S Pen, it boasts the most awesome color reproduction and it even ships with a high Quad HD+ resolution and the new Dynamic AMOLED technology. The only real advantage of the iPhone Xs Max’s display is the 120 Hz refresh ratio which makes the user experience smoother and better for gamers. But that big notch is not the most desired thing on a phone, despite it contains the great Face ID sensors besides the selfie snapper.

Hardware/Software

Thanks to iOS 12 as the operating system, the iPhone Xs Max provides more reliable performances with higher stability and blazing speeds, despite its hardware department is inferior to both its rivals. The second place goes to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ as it is equipped with an upgraded chipset in its European version: the Exynos 9825 built at 7 nm, unlike the predecessor Exynos 9820 built at 8 nm. Further, it supports S Pen and it has more advanced software for productivity. There is also to consider that Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is the only which features a micro SD to expand the internal storage (you can get up to 1 TB more). But the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G can provide a faster connection thanks to the support to 5G networks, if you have 5G coverage, obviously.

Camera

The quad camera found on the Galaxy Note 10+ is overall the best camera department you can find in this trio. It features Dual OIS for an amazing optical stabilization for both the main sensor and the telephoto lens. Further, it is able to record amazing 4K videos at 60 fps with HDR10+. While Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ wins when it comes to the rear cameras, the Galaxy S10 5G has the most efficient front cameras: a dual setup with a bright 10 MP lens and a TOF camera. iPhone Xs Max is still one of the best camera phones out there, but it is pretty disappointing compared with Samsung’s flagships.

Battery

We believe the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G will offer the longest battery life, at least when 5G connectivity is off. It has the biggest battery: a huge 4500 mAh unit, and it even supports reverse wireless charging. Right after, there is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ with its 4300 mAh battery and, since there is no 5G, we have no doubts about its efficiency.

Price

The starting price of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is €1100/$1100, iPhone Xs Max costs €1250/$1100 and Samsung Galaxy S10 5G starts from €1160/$1099. At the end of the day, unless you need the 5G connectivity, we suggest you go for the Galaxy Note 10+ due to the support to S Pen, its bigger and better display, high performances, micro SD support, and more amazing cameras.

Design

We want to award the Samsung Galaxy S10+ for having the most innovative design and also the most interesting materials, at least in its most expensive variant. Unlike the Huawei P30 and iPhone Xs Max which come with a classic notch in order to reduce the bezels, the Samsung Galaxy S10+ gets rids of thick bezels thanks to a punch-hole dual camera placed inside the display. Further, it is the only to come in a variant with a ceramic back. Huawei P30 Pro and iPhone Xs Max remain among the best devices for both aesthetics and build quality. Between the twos, I prefer the iPhone Xs Max due to its stainless steel frame as well as a cleaner and more symmetric design.

Display

The best display belongs undoubtedly to the Samsung Galaxy S10+. It has the highest brightness ever seen on a phone, a perfect color reproduction thanks to the Dynamic AMOLED and the HDR10+ technologies, and a very high level of detail. The second place goes to the iPhone Xs Max which has a panel manufactured by Samsung as well. It even has a 120 Hz refresh ratio that is very nice for the most advanced gamers. Huawei P30 Pro does not have a bad screen, but it is definitely inferior and it comes with a lower resolution.

Hardware/Software

The most powerful hardware department is the one found on the Samsung Galaxy S10+. Besides coming with the most powerful chipset in the Android market (the Snapdragon 855 but note that the European version comes with the Exynos 9820, but it is more or less at the same level), it sports up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of internal storage which you can furtherly expand with a micro SD. On the other hand, iPhone Xs Max comes with iOS that is a more stable operating system, so it delivers blazing speeds and solid experience as well. Even Huawei P30 Pro is wonderful with its fast Kirin 980 and up to 8 GB of RAM.

Camera

While the Huawei P30 Pro could not compete with the Samsung Galaxy S10+ and iPhone Xs Max in the previous paragraphs, it is undoubtedly the most interesting camera phone. It ditches the classic RGB main sensor in favor of a RYYB (red, yellow, blue) sensor which improves the photos in low light conditions very much. Further, unlike its rivals, it comes with a quad camera setup consisting of a main 40 MP lens, an ultrawide sensor, a telephoto lens, and a TOF sensor to calculate depth info in the best way. Right after there is Samsung Galaxy S10+ which remains one of the best camera phones ever and it has an even better camera department for selfies which can record 4K videos. iPhone Xs Max is able to click amazing shots, but despite being one of the most impressive camera phones, it can not compete with the amazing Huawei P30 Pro and Galaxy S10+ cameras.

Battery

With much bigger battery (4200 mAh and 4100 mAh respectively), Huawei P30 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S10+ are way better than the average iPhone Xs Max at battery life. Thanks to its bigger capacity, its efficient components, and great software optimization, Huawei P30 Pro is able to last a little more on a single charge than Samsung Galaxy S10+ and it wins the battery comparison.

Price

Huawei P30 Pro starts from just €880, while Samsung Galaxy S10+ cost €1050 and €1250 respectively in their base variants. However, street prices make them way more affordable. Overall, at least when it comes to the most expensive variant, I would go for the Samsung Galaxy S10+ because of its better display, more innovative and original design, and its amazing 12 GB / 1 TB memory configuration. But keep in mind that Huawei P30 Pro is a better camera phone, just in case camera is your priority like a lot of users.

The designing company usually gives a more premium look to the Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy Smartphones. They make the smartphones a luxury item by engraving superior material such as gold, diamonds and by doing designing on the device. This time Caviar is set to launch a new series of custom-made jewelry editions of iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

Cavier is bringing a Prima collection of three classic Russian ballers including Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and La Bayadere. These three new models will be represented by one heroine of respected ballets. Pria Collection new designs from Caviar use more than 20 diamonds per device. These engravements on the phone’s exterior make it look fantastic and more beautiful. Further, the Artcraft on the device is done manually, and it takes around 12 days to finish it on a single piece.

As looking above in the image, each one of the models looks superficial, and each one has its own aura. The Caviar iPhone XS/XS Max AURORA carries golden plating with diamonds present on the backside. It is available for a whopping $6380. The next one is the Odette edition which hosts silver engraving along with diamonds and starts from $6490. The most premium NIKIYA carries a sculpture in multiple colors on the back and is available for $6760. You can know more about the new Caver Prima edition iPhone models in an introductory video below:

Most of the experts who need the best overall experience should opt for one of these devices. And I personally think that they are the best smartphones in the actual market. We usually compare Chinese smartphones with Android, but we made an exception for these devices due to their importance and some relevant unique features such as the S Pen on the Galaxy Note 9. Here is a specs comparison that will make you understand which of these three beasts is the most suitable for you.

Design

Despite not having the highest screen-to-body ratio, Apple iPhone Xs Max is undoubtedly the phone with the most beautiful design and the best build quality. It is equally borderless on all sides and, besides having a tri-borderless display, it does not have a thicker chin unlike all of the Android devices. Further, it comes with a stainless steel frame instead of the simple aluminum. And it is way sleeker than both its rivals from Samsung and Huawei. Last but not least, it has a cleaner and more elegant back.

Display

iPhone Xs Max is also equipped with the best display in the whole smartphone market until now, despite its Super AMOLED panel was manufactured by Samsung. It supports the Dolby Vision technology, it comes with a stunning color gamut and it has a 120 Hz refresh rate that is wonderful for gaming. It is even HDR10-compliant, it supports 3D Touch, True Tone, and it has a high 2K resolution. Right after, there is obviously the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 that comes with an important added value: the support of the S Pen. Thanks to it, you can use your phone for writing and hand drawing. The S Pen also comes with Bluetooth support so that you can remote control your phone.

Hardware/Software

Thanks to the wonderful iOS optimization, iPhone Xs Max is the world’s fastest and most stable smartphone, and it is superior to every Android device released until now. The second place goes to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro which rocks the world’s first 7 nm chipset: Kirin 980, and a very well-optimized EMUI. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has an SoC from the previous generation and it still comes with Oreo out of the box (upgradable to Pie), but it comes with more internal storage than Huawei Mate 20 Pro in its most expensive version (512 GB).

Camera

Finally, a side on which Huawei Mate 20 Pro wins easily: cameras. It boasts a triple camera setup on its back with a 40 MP primary sensor, a 20 MP ultrawide lens and an 8 MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. This phone currently has no rivals from the concurrency. But iPhone Xs Max and Samsung Galaxy Note 9 are still among the best camera phones ever. The latter even comes with a better selfie camera than Huawei Mate 20 Pro, boasting a brighter aperture and higher performance with low light.

Battery

Huawei Mate 20 Pro is equipped with the biggest battery, but Samsung managed to optimize the Galaxy Note 9 even better. So, despite coming with a smaller battery, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has a longer battery life in most of the scenarios. iPhone Xs Max has just average battery life, so it loses the challenge.

Price

iPhone Xs Max has a listing price starting from €1249, while Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Huawei Mate 20 Pro can currently be found at about €800/$900. There is not a clear winner of this comparison, the choice depends on the user’s needs. If you want the best camera, go for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, if you are looking for the best design, display, and performance, choose the iPhone Xs Max. I would personally choose the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 because of the S Pen that is very comfortable for productivity.

First, it was Strategy Analytics, then Counterpoint Research and then the International Data Corporation (IDC). Yet another report has been released this time from Kantar Worldpanel.

The first which describes itself as a “global expert in shoppers’ behaviour” shed some interesting insight into new industry trends across key regions like Western Europe, urban China, and the US. The data is for the period spanning October to December 2018 and focuses on smartphone OS. The data shows that Huawei continues to saunter on in Europe despite recent controversies and spying suspicions as these have had a minimal impact on the Chinese firm’s European business. Both the Huawei and Honor branded mobile phones are making waves in the old continent.

Apart from Huawei, another Chinese brand which is shown to make tremendous progress in Europe is Xiaomi. The company had recently expanded to major countries like Spain, Italy, and France, boosting the brand to the number four position in Europe’s top-selling chart. Samsung still remains a force to reckon with, contributing largely to the 75% market share Android smartphones enjoyed in Q4 2018 across the five biggest European markets, consistently shrinking the share of Apple’s iOS. On Apple, the market data shows that Apple’s market share continues to rise in the US, its major stronghold. The iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and iPhone X were the most popular devices on store shelves, according to Kantar’s latest research. The iPhone XS Max also commanded an impressive performance in urban China, ranking fourth overall, while the Honor 8X was ranked as the overall at the top of the chart.

However, for smartphones it has always been limited to just the rear cameras, leaving users to find out themselves which phone takes better selfies. Now, they have begun rating front-facing cameras and have released a list of the phones with the best selfie cameras.

According to the ranking, if you want to take the absolute best selfies, the Google Pixel 3 is the device you should go for. If you don’t like the Pixel 3, then you should choose the Samsung Galaxy Note9 as it has the same selfie camera score as the Pixel 3.

Xiaomi’s Mi MIX 3 comes in at the third spot with 84 points, a significant distance from the Pixel and Note, but if it is any consolation, it beats the iPhone XS Max and the Galaxy S9 Plus which come after it in that order. The second gen Pixel is sixth and DxOMark says it takes better selfies than Huawei’s 2018 flagships – the Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro. The Galaxy S8 and the iPhone X also make the list of the top 10 selfie camera phones.

DxOMark says the rating is based on how well the phones perform while taking solo selfies, group selfies, indoor and outdoor selfies, video recording, under natural light and much more before. So this isn’t just about pictures alone. So for example, the Galaxy Note9 is better at recording videos with the front camera than the Pixel 3.

Thinking out loud, do the Nubia X and Vivo NEX Dual Display get to enter as contenders for the selfie king since their rear cameras are actually also selfie cameras? But it’s so unusual for a three weeks old phone to spontaneously explode and almost causing body damage to the owner. That is the experience of an Ohio-based iPhone Xs Max owner who’s pone exploded.

Josh Hillard, based in Ohio reported how he escape the incident, safe and sound but traumatized. He stated that the Apple iPhone XS Max was kept in his back pocket when it began to release “a large amount of heat” including green and yellow smoke. He said he had to quickly leave the break room where his co-female workers were, to find a private place to take his shoes and clothes off. At this time, the explosion has transformed into a full-blown fire which fortunately was extinguished. Hillard said he was so unhappy “from the time of first noticing the fire and between removal of the pants and taking the phone out of my pocket and placing it outside.”

Hillard was however offered a new phone as a remedy to the exploded one, which he doesn’t regard as a better way of resolving the situation. Considering the situation of things, Hillard is said to be “contemplating legal action” for all the trauma he has encountered as a result of the explosion. Apple has begun an intense investigation to determine the cause of the incident. This is the first time iPhone XS Max is reported to have exploded and we hope it’ll be the last. Something similar recently occurred to the iPhone X, though, but the cause may likely be unrelated.

This score not only puts the smartphone ahead of all the Snapdragon 845 and Kirin 980 powered smartphones, but also it has defeated Apple A12 chipset driven iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. Soon after the launch, AnTuTu confirmed that the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT has outscored all the other Android phones, but it claimed that its benchmarking score cannot be compared with iPhones.

It shows that the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is ruling over iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR that have respectively scored 356,501, 355,804 and 346,735 on AnTuTu benchmarks. The following four spots are occupied by Kirin 980 powered Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 X, Mate 20 Pro and Honor Magic 2.
While the company did not release any official statement related to the company, Apple has now rolled out iOS 12.0.1 update that fixes the said charging issue on the iPhone XS lineup.

Along with that, the update also fixes a major Wi-Fi bug that could cause some iPhone XS devices to prefer to join a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network rather than a 5GHz. It also fixes the reorientation of the “123” number key on the iPad, which was moved in the iOS 12 update and swapped with the emoji/language key.

The official change-log from the company for the iOS 12.0.1 update, which includes bug fixes and improvements for your iPhone or iPad, mentions following:

Fixes an issue where some iPhone XS devices do not immediately charge when connected to a Lightning cable.

Resolves an issue that could cause iPhone XS devices to rejoin a Wi-Fi network at 2.4 GHz instead of 5 GHz.

Restores the original position of the “.?123” key on the iPad keyboard

Fixes an issue where subtitles may not appear in some video apps

Addresses an issue where Bluetooth could become unavailable

The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max charging issue was widely reported soon after the new devices hit the market. The issue required having the display on while connecting the Lightning cable to ensure charging was happening. However, not all the devices were affected with this issue.

To estimate the sales, the company used dated from over a million mobile apps.

Flurry Analytics’ data indicates that this year’s flagship iPhones have proved to be a significant success for Apple. This too even before the iPhone XR, which is the cheapest among the three phones launched this year, is yet to go on sale.

In the first week itself, the iPhone XS gained an overall iPhone market share of 0.42 percent. The bigger XS Max was more successful, capturing 0.68 percent share of all iPhones currently in use in the U.S. The total combined share stands at 1.1 percent of all iPhones in just one week.

The company further added that the sales of iPhone XS and the XS Max in the first week has beat out the sales of last year’s iPhone 8 and the 8 Plus. It says that the like-for-like comparison shows that Apple generated 7 percent more revenue from iPhone XS/Max sales than the combined sales of the iPhone X and iPhone 8/Plus in the equivalent periods last year.

According to Flurry Analytics, the trend will continue into the holidays. It said:

Our net takeaway is that Apple is able still able to drive solid market share uptake with its latest devices, but is also actively raising prices to keep revenue growing. The strategy appears to be working, and they are well positioned heading into the holiday season. We look forward to sharing more insights as the holiday season progresses.

In terms of market penetration, the iPhone 7 still holds the top position with around 15.40 percent while the iPhone 7 Plus is at the second spot with 12.73 percent market share. The iPhone 6S has 12.40 percent market penetration.

Both phones are now on sale around the globe. However, some users have discovered a charging issue affecting the new iPhones.

These owners have discovered that when they plugged in their phone to charge with the wired charger, it didn’t charge until they had to wake up the screen. Some users said they had to flip the cable before it began to charge.

Popular YouTuber, Lewis Hilsenteger of Unbox Therapy was notified of the issue and decided to confirm. Of the eights iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max units he got his hands on, only one of them isn’t suffering from the issue. One iPhone XS Max didn’t even wake up even after pushing the power button while another didn’t charge at all even after waking up the phone. You can head to his channel to watch the video.

A thread created on the Apple Community website has a long list of people suffering from the charging issue. Most have said the issue only comes up when the display has gone off for more than five seconds. So if the screen is on and you plug it in, it won’t charge.

READ MORE: Qualcomm accuses Apple of leaking its modem tech to Intel

There is a suggested fix that says users should turn on the “USB Accessories” feature under “Face ID and Passcode” settings. However, the fix doesn’t seem to be working for everyone. Some have also taken their phone in for a replacement but the replacement units are also suffering from the same issue. So getting a replacement will do you no good.

Apple hasn’t issued an official statement yet. The problem is probably software-related and an update will likely be pushed out to fix it.

As it can be seen on the left side of the below image, the unreleased Mate 20 Pro is leading the pack with 116 score. The next unannounced on the list is the Google Pixel 3 with a score of 107. The Mate 20 is also mentioned below with the same score.

The iPhone Xr and OnePlus 6T are also present on the list with respective scores of 100 and 99. The benchmarking reports of these phones are yet to appear on the website of Dx0Mark. There is a high possibility that the above leak nothing but fake.

A DxOMark score is a combination of photography and video recording scores. The the current ranking of smartphones according to their DxOMark scores is shown on the right side in the above image. The Huawei P20 Pro with its triple camera setup as at the numero uno position with 109 score. The HTC U12+ and Samsung Galaxy Note 9 are on second and third positions with respective scores of 103. As it can be seen, the newly released smartphones such as the new iPhones, Xperia XZ2 Premium, Meizu 16th Plus have not appeared on the list yet.

Since the leaked photo showing the DxOMark scores of unannounced and newly released phones appears fake, it remains to be seen how highly awaited phones like OnePlus 6T and Mate 20 Pro will rank on the list.

The iPhone XS max and XS were released into the market last week. Although we can’t tell how the sales have one, the release means reviews of the two flagship iPhones will start hitting us and they have started. DisplayMate has published its review of the iPhone XS Max with a focus on the display. The top-end iPhone XS Max was awarded the firm’s “Best Smartphone Display Award”. The XS Max features a Super Retina OLED display panel and it got the highest A+ rating.

The smartphone’s display was tested out based on different factors such as a larger full-screen display, 2.7k resolution, industry-standard colour gamuts, automatic colour management, display power efficiency, True Tone viewing modes, Night Shift mode, and more. The iPhone XS Max features a 6.5-inch display and is the second-gen model to utilise an OLED panel with a 2.7K High Resolution of 2688 x 1242 pixels and 458 pixels per inch, and Diamond Sub-Pixels with Sub-Pixel Rendering for enhanced sharpness and higher Peak Brightness. The display also comes with support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision which set it at a higher pedestal than other flagships. DisplayMate says the XS Max can extend the Dynamic Range by up to 325 percent for HDR photos and up to 400 percent for HDR videos. The review also noted the device has a screen reflectance of 4.7 percent, which is “close to the lowest” that the company has measured for a smartphone. The phone also comes with a Night Shift Mode that allows the user to adjust and reduce the amount of Blue Light from the display for better night viewing and improved sleep.

Read Also: Apple iPhone XS Max’s production cost estimated to be $443

Further, the new Super Dim setting on the iPhone XS Max was applauded for providing comfortable use in extreme low light conditions, taking the brightness down to just 2 cd per square metre. The phone’s peak screen brightness of 660 nits is slightly lower than the record 710 nits of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. It’s not all positives, though, as there are a few minor issues which users may not even notice. One of such is that the iPhone XS Max has the largest colour shift of 6.2 JNCD a viewing angle of 30 degrees which DisplayMate claims is noticeable but not objectionable. The display also has a steep intensity scale which results in a high image contrast. It is an elaborate report and you can check out the full report from the source link below.

Now, Techinsights has completed a teardown of the iPhone XS Max A1921, revealing the components cost and production estimate.

It reveals that the estimated production cost of Apple iPhone XS Max 256GB model, which is said to be the most popular model, is about $443, about $50 more than the iPhone X 64GB model. In the cost breakdown, it reveals that the most expensive component is the display panel at around $80.50.

The phone is powered by the company’s new 7nm Apple A12 Bionic chipset, which reportedly costs around $72, with modems. The internal storage, i.e. 256GB storage, costs around $64 while the external housing costs somewhere around $58.

The device also comes with upgraded cameras, which costs about $44. Interestingly, the pricing of the camera module is same as that of last year’s iPhone X. Going by the pricing chart, every component is costlier compared to iPhone X launched last year, except for the assembly materials and the RF antenna.

Do note that Techinsights’s $443 pricing estimated for the 256GB model of the iPhone XS Max doesn’t include other manufacturing expenses such as Research & Development, Software, Logistics, and Marketing.

Techinsights says that the cost estimated provided are compiled using information available at the time of the initial teardown and where concrete data is not yet available, the company has made some assumptions. While the costing figure may not be accurate, it gives a picture about the phone’s production cost.

That is a lot of space for your hi-res photos, songs, and HD videos. While the extra storage is good news for iPhone users who want more than 256GB of storage, it is a money maker for Apple and that is because they are charging a lot more than usual. This shouldn’t be a big surprise as Apple has always charged more than what is considered a fair price for its products.

The cost of storage has reduced a lot recently which means there shouldn’t be a huge difference in price when you are settling for a higher storage but Apple is still charging a lot when you choose a higher storage variant. One can say storage is its new gold mine for the new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max by the time you do the math and realize how much Apple is making.

A researcher at IHS Markit Ltd, Wayne Lam, said Apple pays 25 cents for every gigabyte of storage but charges its customers about 78 cents per gigabyte. Apple is charging $349 extra if you jump from the 64GB model to the 512GB model and analysts say that is an extra $134 in profit for Apple.

Unlike other components which may need the phone to be redesigned if they differ from one phone to the other, it is not like that for storage. All it takes in simple terms is a swap of the storage chip.

Sale of the higher storage variants isn’t the only way Apple is making money from the new iPhones. Users are likely to spend more money on content (songs, apps, videos) when they have more storage.

Apple is also offering an iCloud backup plan for $9.99 a month for 2TB of storage. When combined with an Apple Music subscription and purchase of at least a movie on iTunes each month, an owner of the 512GB iPhone XS Max may spend $40 more than others.

However, there is a possibility that Apple isn’t making so much money at the moment as its businesses with component suppliers are contract based. So there is a chance it is still buying storage at a higher price before the recent slash in storage prices.

The company dubbed “the Apple of China” takes on Apple in a subtle way, by mimicking the iterations of the new iPhone models in the naming of three different product bundles. The product bundles are named XR suite, XS suite and XS Max set and are priced exactly as the starting prices of the three new iPhone models in China.

The listing takes a direct swipe at the pricing of the three iPhone models; the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max. Apple released the pricing of the three models in China yesterday and they are not cheap! Apple products are extremely popular in China and are priced too high for many Chinese. We vividly recall the sad and unfortunate incident that occurred in 2012 when a 17-year-old boy from Anhui, one of China’s poorest provinces, sold his kidney for 22,000 yuan (£2,200) and used the money to buy an iPhone and iPad. As at then, the iPhone price started at 3,988 yuan (£400), and iPads began at 2,988 yuan (£300). The pricing of Apple products continued to skyrocket unabated. On a lighter side, Xiaomi is perhaps trying to prevent such alarming cases of teens selling off their kidneys to get an iPhone. And it is doing that by slapping us with some attractive and cool Mi gadgets we can get at the price of just one iPhone. As surreal as that sounds, it isn’t true. The Chinese company never made mention of that but this is just a marketing strategy to take on the competition. Apple iPhone sales plummetted in China in recent times as a result of the rise of rival brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo and others.

The XR suite as you can guess mimics the iPhone XR which interestingly is the base model but starts at 6499 yuan ($947) in China. For this amount, Xiaomi offers buyers the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE (6+128GB) Grey, Mi Band 3, Mi Notebook Air 12.5 Inch 4+256G Silver and the Mi Bluetooth Headset Mini (Black). Pricing for the high-end iPhone XS begins at 8699 Yuan ($1268) in China and Xiaomi mirrors that with the XS Suite which offers buyers the flagship Mi MIX 2S (8GB+256GB) Black, Mi Band 3, Mi Notebook Air 13.3″ (Silver) and the Mi Bluetooth Headset Mini (Black).

Thirdly, the top-most iPhone XS Max with a giant display begins at a whopping 9599 yuan ($1398). For that amount, Xiaomi says we can get the XS Max bundle comprising the Mi 8 (6GB+128GB), Mi Notebook Pro, Mi Bluetooth Collar Headset and Mi Band 3 on Mi.com. Sadly, this is only applicable in China as all the products in the bundles will cost more than what is being offered on Xiaomi’s website. It would be interesting, though, to see such bundles being offered in India, Spain and other regions where XIaomi has its physical presence.

At the launch event of the new iPhones, Apple did not confirm on their RAM capacities. However, the amount of RAM present inside the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR have been recently revealed through their AnTuTu and Geekbench listings. Now, AnTuTu has shared a new screenshot which reveals that the Apple A12 powered iPhone XS handset has recorded a marvelous score of more 363k.

In the CPU, GPU, UX and memory tests of AnTuTu, the iPhone XS has respectively scored 133,561, 150,931, 66,474 and 12,559 which brings the total benchmarking score to 363,525. Most of the Android flagship phones powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset have scored around 290k on AnTuTu which shows how powerful the Apple A12 SoC is.

Compared to the Apple A11 chipset that powers the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, the hexa-core A12 offers nearly 33.3 percent increased performance, doubled GPU score, 50 percent improvement in UX score and around 20 percent improvement in memory score because of which the iPhone XS has managed to achieve such an impressive benchmarking score.

The Apple A12 Bionic which includes two high-performance cores that worker 15 percent faster than the Apple A11 chipset and four power-efficiency cores that consumes 50 percent less power than A11. The SoC includes four-core GPU which also offers 50 percent better graphics performance than the GPU of A11.

The iPhone Xs features 4 GB of RAM and so does the iPhone Xs Max smartphone. The iPhone Xs and Xs Max respectively feature 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch AMOLED screens. The iPhone Xr that is equipped with a 6.1-inch LCD screen is packed with 3 GB of RAM.

The Kirin 980 that will be powering the upcoming Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro handset is also a 7nm chipset. An unconfirmed AnTuTu listing of Kirin 980 powered Mate 20 that had surfaced earlier this year had revealed an impressive benchmarking score of 350k score. However, the actual performance scores of the Kirin 980 will be revealed after the announcement of Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro that is slated to happen on Oct. 16. The 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset is slated to go official by the end of this year. It is expected to power most of the Android flagship phones arriving in 2019.

As mentioned above, the benchmarking score of the best Android phone is 70k less than A12. However, the arrival of Kirin 980 and Snapdragon 855 will change things.

The image is added below.

While unveiling its new devices, Apple usually does not reveal all the important details of their specs sheet, and the same applies to this year’s iPhones as well — iPhone Xs, Xs Max and Xr. The most important detail which was not revealed by the Cupertino giant was the amount of RAM on its new smartphones. But today, three handsets surfaced on some Geekbench listings which revealed both the quantity of RAM and their scores obtained on benchmarks. According to Geekbench, both iPhone Xs and Xs Max come with 4 GB of RAM, that is 1 GB more than the previous generation.

The affordable model iPhone Xr instead comes with 3 GB of RAM just like the original iPhone X. Coming to benchmark scores, Geekbench highlighted a very high result in single-core performance for the iPhone Xs Max: 4813 points, that is much better than the previous generation, while there is just a slight difference in multi-core performance with 10266 points. Due to its lower amount of RAM, iPhone Xr obtained a lower score with 4754 in single-core and 9367 points in multi-core. There are still other important details we need to know about iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and Xr, such as the clock frequency of the chipset.

But they should be revealed very soon as the devices are going to hit the shelves on September 21. All the iPhones of this year are powered by an hexa-core Apple A12 Bionic chipset, but they have displays of different sizes. The first has a 5.8-inch AMOLED panel, the second has a 6.5-inch AMOLED display (the biggest screen ever seen on an Apple phone) and the third is in the middle with a 6.1-inch display and the LCD technology. Even though it is cheaper, according to Apple, iPhone Xr has the best LCD display ever used on a phone.

This post explains how the dual SIM function works for the different regions.

For the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max that will be sold in the US and Europe, they will only support one physical nano-SIM. The second SIM is an eSIM much like what Google did with the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

Even at that, the only way to be able to use two different carriers is if your device is unlocked. Also, you can’t use two CDMA networks if your physical SIM is a CDMA carrier. The list of carriers that support eSIMs are still very small but iPhones are very popular and we won’t be surprised if more networks adopt eSIM support simply because of the new models. To learn more about eSIM technology, you should check out this special article we wrote.

For those living in China, Hong Kong, or Macau, the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max sold there don’t have an eSIM. Instead, you get to use two physical nano-SIM cards just like a lot of Android dual SIM phones. Both SIM cards use the same tray – one sits on top and the other sits below with the chip side facing upwards for the top one and facing downwards for the one below.

Owners will be able to make and receive calls from both SIM cards but when you are on a call on one line, calls to the other are sent to voicemail. Apple will also let you set a particular SIM as default for calls or data. This should be familiar to Android users who may be switching to the new iPhones.

You will also be able to set which number is used as the default for calling certain contacts. First-time calls to a number use the default number for calling but a specific number can be set under the contact’s setting. You will also be able to set which line is used for iMessage and FaceTime under settings. Both SIMs will be labeled (P) for Primary and (S) for Secondary by default but you can also change the labels.

The iPhone XS Max featuring a huge 6.5-inch OLED screen was unveiled alongside it. The iPhone XR featuring a notched LCD screen was also announced alongside the iPhone XS and XS Max. Fresh information reveals with the arrival of the 2018 iPhones, Apple has discontinued older iPhones like iPhone 6S and iPhone SE. The Cupertino company has also halted the sales of the iPhone X permanently.

It is unusual for Apple to discontinue iPhone X because the company is known for slashing the price of previous year’s model with the arrival of a new smartphone. Instead of selling the iPhone X with a reduced pricing, Apple has decided to kill it.

It is now being speculated that if Apple would have sold the iPhone X with discounted pricing, it may not have earned good profits for the company since the cost of materials required would not have decreased significantly. It appears that the iPhone XR that has a starting price of $749 is a good replacement for the iPhone X.

Now that the iPhone 6S, 6S Plus and iPhone SE have been discontinued, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are the new entry-level phones from the company. Both phones are respectively priced at $449 and $569. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are respectively priced at $599 and $699.

Since the 4-inch iPhone SE is no longer available for buying, the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 are the smallest iPhones available for buying in the U.S. At present, the iPhone X, iPhone 6S, 6S Plus and iPhone SE could be available for buying in some countries, but they will be soon discontinued with the release of new iPhones.

The iPhone XR comes in 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB storage options. These models are respectively priced at $749, $799 and $899. The storage variants of the iPhone X are 64 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. These variants are respectively cost $999, $1,149 and $1,349. The 64 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB iPhone XS Max models are respectively price at $1,099, $1,249 and $1,449.

At a launch event in California, the tech giant unveiled three new iPhones — Apple iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max along with the iPhone XR. Among the three new phones, the iPhone XS and XS Plus are the successors of the iPhone X that was launched last year.

The iPhone XS features a 5.8-inch display while the XS Plus has a 6.5-inch display. The company is calling this OLED HDR screen as Super Retina, which provides a pixel density of 458ppi. Apple also says that it has 60 percent greater dynamic range for better colors. It is also a 3D Touch pressure-sensitive screen.

Both the phones are powered by Apple A12 Bionic chipset, which is manufactured using the 7-nanometer process and promises to launch apps 30 percent faster than 2017 iPhones. The SoC has six-core CPU, quad-core GPU, and a dedicated neural engine. The company says that the new chipset can handle five trillion AI operations per second and should provide real-time machine learning.

It also comes with an improved camera configuration. There are two camera sensors on the back side, which includes 12-megapixel primary lens with f/1.8 aperture and a 12-megapixel secondary telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture for lossless 2X zoom. On the front side, there’s a 7-megapixel snapper with f/2.2 aperture, coupled with IR camera to enable portrait mode. The Face ID feature, which unlocked the phone through facial recognition, also works faster.

The camera can detect people’s faces and bodies, and also offers an instant red-eye reduction. There’s Smart HDR which can identify highlights and find shadow detail. An interesting feature is that you can now adjust the depth of a portrait mode photo after capturing the image.

Both, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, come in three storage options — 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The devices are also IP68 rated, which means that both phones are water-resistant and can survive in water up to 30 minutes in 2 meters depth.

Another major feature of the new iPhone is the support for Dual SIM cards through eSIM technology. While the addition of Dual SIM support may not be a big deal in the US, it’s a huge deal for Asian countries. A special model for China has support for two physical SIM cards.

Running on iOS 12, the new iPhone XS and XS Max has support for stereo sound with a wider stereo field than 2017 iPhones, claims the company. As for the battery, the company has not revealed specifications but says that the iPhone XS should last 30 minutes longer than iPhone X and the iPhone XS Max should have 1.5 hours longer battery life than the iPhone X.
