<p>A recent report revealed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/iqoo">iQOO</a> 16 moniker has appeared in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/08/vivo-v80-iqoo-16-spotted-on-imei-database/">IMEI database</a>. While it is expected to launch in October this year, the rumor mill has already started revealing its key specifications. A new Weibo post by reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed the chipset that will power the device.</p>

<h3><strong>iQOO 16’s chipset revealed</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="280" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-58-1024x280.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-733974" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-58-1024x280.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-58-300x82.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-58-768x210.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-58-1536x421.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-58-696x191.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-58-1068x292.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-58-1534x420.png 1534w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-58.png 1596w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Reports have revealed that Qualcomm’s next-generation 2nm chip will arrive in two versions. While the official monikers are yet to be confirmed, these chipsets are tentatively dubbed the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (SM8950) and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro (SM8975), respectively.</p>

<p>As mentioned above, DCS claims that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/iqoo-16">iQOO 16</a> will be powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-6-pro">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro</a>. The tipster also suggests that the device will feature a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/04/iqoo-16-2k-display-leak/">2K Samsung display</a> with a flat design and a very high refresh rate. A recent report revealed that the screen may support a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/30/iqoo-16-185hz-samsung-display-specs-leak/">165Hz or 185Hz refresh rate</a>.</p>

<p>The rest of the iQOO 16’s specifications are also expected to be powerful, according to the tipster, but they remain under wraps. Since it is expected to debut later this year, it may come preloaded with OriginOS 7 based on Android 17.</p>

<p>The same source recently revealed that its rear camera setup will be headlined by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/08/the-iqoo-16-and-oneplus-16-could-both-jump-to-200mp-main-cameras/">a 200-megapixel main camera</a>. This sensor will be joined by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.</p>

<p>Its base model is expected to feature a 12GB + 256GB configuration. With the rise in memory costs, this variant <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/04/oneplus-16-iqoo-16-and-redmi-k100-pro-all-tipped-to-launch-at-higher-starting-prices/">could be priced at 5,000 Yuan</a>, which is approximately $730.</p>

<p>In related news, iQOO is expected to launch the iQOO 15T by mid-2026 in China. One of the major highlights of this phone is that it may come equipped with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/08/iqoo-15t-with-built-in-cooling-could-be-in-works/">a built-in cooling fan</a>.</p>

<p>New phones don’t always show up with a launch teaser first. Quite often, they quietly appear in certification databases, and that seems to be the case with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/30/iqoo-16-185hz-samsung-display-specs-leak/">iQOO 16</a> and Vivo V80, both of which have now been listed in the GSMA IMEI database, courtesy of Smartprix.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="512" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/iQOO-15.mp4_20251107_170552.193-1024x512.jpg?x10805" alt="iQOO 15" class="wp-image-714335" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/iQOO-15.mp4_20251107_170552.193-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/iQOO-15.mp4_20251107_170552.193-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/iQOO-15.mp4_20251107_170552.193-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/iQOO-15.mp4_20251107_170552.193-1536x768.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/iQOO-15.mp4_20251107_170552.193-696x348.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/iQOO-15.mp4_20251107_170552.193-1068x534.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/iQOO-15.mp4_20251107_170552.193-840x420.jpg 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/iQOO-15.mp4_20251107_170552.193.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>It usually means the devices are past the early stages and moving closer to testing or certification. So while nothing is official yet, it’s a decent sign that both phones are getting closer to launch.</p>

<p>The iQOO 16 is expected to succeed the iQOO 15 (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/11/12/iqoo-15-review-not-flashy-not-hyped-just-quietly-great-at-everything/">our review</a>), which was very much focused on performance. That’s kind of been <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/iqoo/">iQOO</a>’s approach for a while now: capable chips, aggressive cooling, and charging speeds that are usually higher than rivals. There’s no confirmation on specs yet, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the new model follows the same pattern, just with newer hardware and maybe some tweaks to thermals.</p>

<p>The Vivo V80 should be a bit different in comparison. The V series has always leaned more toward design and camera features rather than raw power. Based on previous models, things like the &#8220;Aura Light&#8221; and portrait-focused imaging will likely return. It’ll probably use an upper mid-range Snapdragon or Dimensity chip, something that keeps things smooth without pushing too hard on performance.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="728" height="341" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-4.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-733887" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-4.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-4-300x141.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-4-696x326.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></figure>

<p>From here, the next step is typically regional certifications, and that’s when more concrete details start showing up.</p>

<p>For now, there’s not much confirmed, but the overall direction feels familiar. The iQOO 16 will likely aim at performance-heavy users, while the Vivo V80 sticks to cameras and design. Nothing unexpected, but still worth keeping an eye on as more information comes in.</p>

<p>The rumor mill is gradually leaking details about the iQOO 16, which is expected to launch in October this year in China. One of the major highlights of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/iqoo-15">iQOO 15</a> is that it features a Samsung M14 OLED panel, which has a 6.85-inch screen size with 2K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Reports have suggested that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/iqoo">iQOO</a> 16 will arrive with an upgraded display, and now, in a new Weibo post, tipster Smart Pikachu has revealed some details about it.</p>

<h3><strong>iQOO 16’s display details tipped</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="573" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-156-1024x573.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-732587" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-156-1024x573.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-156-300x168.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-156-768x430.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-156-696x390.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-156-1068x598.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-156-750x420.png 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-156.png 1300w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The above post by tipster Smart Pikachu indicates that iQOO could be among the first brands to test Samsung’s upcoming 2K display panels featuring 165Hz and 185Hz refresh rates, with the hashtag suggesting a possible link to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/iQOO-16">iQOO 16</a>.</p>

<p>The tipster notes that 165Hz is just the beginning, as the supply chain is also preparing native 185Hz panels from Samsung, while game ecosystems are already being adapted to support such high refresh rates.</p>

<p>The increase in refresh rate will allow the iQOO 16 to take on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-16">OnePlus 16</a>, which is said to be its closest rival that’s rumored to feature a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/01/28/oneplus-16-tipped-with-240hz-display-snapdragon-8-elite-gen-6-pro-200mp-triple-cameras-more/">200Hz or 240Hz screen</a>. While the OnePlus 16 may continue to support a 1.5K resolution, the iQOO 16’s screen <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/04/iqoo-16-2k-display-leak/">may offer 2K resolution</a> like its previous generation.</p>

<p>Another <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/08/the-iqoo-16-and-oneplus-16-could-both-jump-to-200mp-main-cameras/">major upgrade</a> for the iQOO 16 is in the camera department. The same tipster revealed earlier this month that it may feature a 200-megapixel primary camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. This setup is also expected to include a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens.</p>

<p>The details about its battery size, charging capabilities, and memory configurations are not known yet. In all likelihood, it will draw power from the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-6">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6</a> chip. Due to the recent hike in memory chip prices, the iQOO 16 <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/04/oneplus-16-iqoo-16-and-redmi-k100-pro-all-tipped-to-launch-at-higher-starting-prices/">may start at 5,000 Yuan (~$725)</a> for the base variant, which may offer a 12GB+256GB configuration.</p>

<p>The iQOO 16 may be starting to surface in the rumor mill. Last week, we reported that the device could launch at a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/04/oneplus-16-iqoo-16-and-redmi-k100-pro-all-tipped-to-launch-at-higher-starting-prices/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">higher price than its predecessor</a>. Now, a new report from China suggests the upcoming flagship might also get a camera upgrade on the back.</p>

<p>According to tipster<em> Smart Pikachu</em> on Weibo, the iQOO 16 is currently being tested with a 200-megapixel main camera. For comparison, the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/iqoo-15/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> iQOO 15</a> features a 50-megapixel primary sensor. The upcoming phone is still said to retain a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, similar to its predecessor.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="262" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/iQOO-16-200MP-camera-leak.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-729938" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/iQOO-16-200MP-camera-leak.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/iQOO-16-200MP-camera-leak-300x87.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/iQOO-16-200MP-camera-leak-768x224.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/iQOO-16-200MP-camera-leak-696x203.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>The tipster also claims that only the iQOO 16 is currently in testing, while the successor to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/iqoo-15-ultra/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">iQOO 15 Ultra </a>has yet to appear in testing.</p>

<h2><strong>OnePlus 16 could also get a 200MP main lens</strong></h2>

<p>Interestingly, the same tipster says the OnePlus 16 could feature a similar camera setup. That is, a 200-megapixel main sensor paired with a 50-megapixel periscope lens. The OnePlus 15, by comparison, uses 50-megapixel sensors for both its main and periscope cameras.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="262" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/OnePlus-16-camera-leak.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-729939" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/OnePlus-16-camera-leak.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/OnePlus-16-camera-leak-300x87.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/OnePlus-16-camera-leak-768x224.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/OnePlus-16-camera-leak-696x203.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>Back to the iQOO 16, the phone is also tipped to upgrade its display resolution <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/02/01/vivo-x500-iqoo-16-2k-resolution-screen/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">from 1.5K to 2K.</a></p>

<p>There’s currently no word on the rest of the phone’s specifications. As a performance-focused flagship, however, it could feature the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor along with a large battery.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="769" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/iQOO-15-rear-769x1024.jpg?x10805" alt="iQOO 15" class="wp-image-718811" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/iQOO-15-rear-769x1024.jpg 769w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/iQOO-15-rear-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/iQOO-15-rear-768x1023.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/iQOO-15-rear-1153x1536.jpg 1153w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/iQOO-15-rear-1537x2048.jpg 1537w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/iQOO-15-rear-696x927.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/iQOO-15-rear-1068x1423.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/iQOO-15-rear-315x420.jpg 315w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/iQOO-15-rear.jpg 1769w" sizes="(max-width: 769px) 100vw, 769px" /><figcaption>iQOO 15 &#8211; Legend </figcaption></figure></div>

<p>As we mentioned earlier, a price increase also seems plausible. A previous report suggests that upcoming flagship phones that will use 2nm chips could start at around 5,000 yuan (roughly $725).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Since the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/02/10/big-snapdragon-8-elite-gen-6-leak-reveals-block-diagram-months-ahead-of-launch/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 i</a>s rumored to be built on a 2nm process, the iQOO 16 could fall into that category. For comparison, the iQOO 15 launched at 4,199 yuan.</p>

<p>For now, we’ll have to wait for more leaks to shed light on the iQOO 16’s internals.</p>

<p>In October 2025, Vivo unveiled the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-x300">Vivo X300</a> series, whereas its sub-brand <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/iqoo">iQOO</a> announced the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/iqoo-15">iQOO 15</a>. It is likely that both companies will apply the same strategy for the next-generation flagships. While the rumor mill has already leaked a few details about the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-x500">Vivo X500</a> series, details about the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/iqoo-16">iQOO 16</a> have also started surfacing. A new leak, courtesy of tipster Smart Pikachu, has revealed a key detail about the iQOO 16’s display.</p>

<h3><strong>iQOO 16 to feature 2K display</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="952" height="251" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-20.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-729448" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-20.png 952w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-20-300x79.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-20-768x202.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-20-696x184.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 952px) 100vw, 952px" /></figure>

<p>According to the tipster, while most next-generation flagships are shifting to 1.5K displays, Vivo is reportedly testing two upcoming phones with 2K screens.</p>

<p>The iQOO 16 hashtag used in the Weibo post suggests that it could retain a higher-resolution 2K display instead of moving to the 1.5K panels many competitors are adopting.</p>

<p>While he has not mentioned the X500 series, a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/02/01/vivo-x500-iqoo-16-2k-resolution-screen/">previous leak suggests </a>that the entire lineup would feature 2K resolution displays.</p>

<p>The OnePlus 16 is expected to be one of the major rivals for the iQOO 16. This device is likely to retain the 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate that were introduced on the OnePlus 15. Some unconfirmed reports suggest that the iQOO 16’s display refresh rate may upgrade to 165Hz.</p>

<p>At present, there is no information about the iQOO 16’s other specifications. Being a performance-focused flagship, it may feature the next-generation <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-6">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6</a> chipset and a massive battery. Hopefully, upcoming reports will shed more details about the iQOO 16’s innards.</p>

<p>We have already heard a few early rumors about the Vivo X500 series. For instance, the flagship lineup is expected to pack a<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/11/14/vivo-x500-series-is-tipped-with-a-7000mah-battery/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> massive 7,000mAh battery</a>. A new claim now suggests Vivo is also going all-in on high-resolution displays.</p>

<p>According to prominent tipster <em>Digital Chat Station </em>on Weibo, Vivo has decided to make 2K resolution standard across its flagship phones. The leaker says the company is “going all in on 2K resolution.” As a result, Vivo’s upcoming flagships will likely all have 2K flat screens.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="210" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Vivo-X500-display-leak.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-725442" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Vivo-X500-display-leak.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Vivo-X500-display-leak-300x70.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Vivo-X500-display-leak-768x179.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Vivo-X500-display-leak-696x162.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>The possibility extends to the iQOO 16 as well, as it is also a flagship device from the company’s sub-brand.</p>

<p>Another well-known leaker, <em>Panda is Bald</em>, has echoed the same claim, lending some additional weight to the rumor. They also expand the discussion to other manufacturers’ upcoming devices.</p>

<p>According to the tipster, Oppo’s Find X10 series will feature a 200-megapixel camera, while Honor is reportedly planning to equip its mid-range phones with enormous 10,000mAh batteries. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="400" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Vivo-X500-series-2K-screen.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-725443" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Vivo-X500-series-2K-screen.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Vivo-X500-series-2K-screen-300x133.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Vivo-X500-series-2K-screen-768x341.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Vivo-X500-series-2K-screen-696x309.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>Huawei, meanwhile, is said to be exploring new foldable screen designs, and Xiaomi’s upcoming 18 series is reportedly focusing on advancements in camera technology.</p>

<p>All the flagship phones are expected to use a new mobile processor based on the 2nm process. Xiaomi is likely to stick with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips, while both Vivo and Oppo are expected to use <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/11/06/vivo-x500-moniker-dimensity-9600/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9600</a>.</p>

<p>A previous report suggests that at least one of those two brands will launch its flagship <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/01/17/oppo-vivo-dimensity-9600-flagship-launch-september/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">early in September</a>. MediaTek is also rumored to unveil the Dimensity 9600 earlier than usual, which could allow manufacturers to ship devices powered by the chip sooner.</p>

<p>At present, it is too early to talk in detail about the X500 series, as the company has several new phones lined up for launch in China in the coming months. As such, take these details with a pinch of salt, as things could change late in development.</p>
