Some of the contenders include <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/realme">realme</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo">OPPO</a>, and its sisters <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo">Vivo</a>, iQOO. Among this, iQOO has already <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/19/iqoo-7-officially-confirmed/">confirmed its next smartphone iQOO 7</a> which going by the number, will be the next flagship from the company. Now, a tipster has details regarding it&#8217;s charging and cameras.</p>
<figure id="attachment_361249" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-361249" style="width: 1051px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-361249" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/iQOO-7-BMW-edition.jpg?x10805" alt="iQOO 7 BMW edition" width="1051" height="704" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/iQOO-7-BMW-edition.jpg 1051w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/iQOO-7-BMW-edition-300x201.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/iQOO-7-BMW-edition-768x514.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/iQOO-7-BMW-edition-1024x686.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/iQOO-7-BMW-edition-696x466.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/iQOO-7-BMW-edition-627x420.jpg 627w" sizes="(max-width: 1051px) 100vw, 1051px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-361249" class="wp-caption-text">iQOO 7 BMW edition</figcaption></figure>
<p>According to Digital Chat Station on Weibo, iQOO 7 could be the smartphone with the shortest charging time in the first half of 2021. This falls in-line with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/16/alleged-iqoo-7-v2049a-spotted-with-120w-charger-at-3c/">3C certification</a> that reveals a possible 120W charging support for iQOO 7. If we recall, iQOO unveiled world&#8217;s first commercially viable <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/13/iqoos-120w-ultra-fast-charging-technology-officially-announced-first-120w-iqoo-phone-could-be-coming-in-august/">120W Ultra-Fast Charging Technology</a>. This tech can charge a smartphone&#8217;s typical 4,000mAh battery in under 15 minutes.</p>
<p>In fact, the iQOO 7&#8217;s predecessor, the iQOO 5 series already has <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/17/iqoo-5-iqoo-5-pro-launched-with-120w-fast-charging-120hz-curved-display-and-50mp-triple-cameras/">120W charging support</a> along with a 4,000mAh battery. Hence, it will be interesting to see how iQOO manages to improve this on the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iQOO-7">iQOO 7.</a> We feel that iQOO might hold this crown by increasing the battery size to about 4,200/4,300mAh and achieve similar results.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-361488" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/iqoo-7-charging.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="898" height="274" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/iqoo-7-charging.jpg 898w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/iqoo-7-charging-300x92.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/iqoo-7-charging-768x234.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/iqoo-7-charging-696x212.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 898px) 100vw, 898px" /></p>
<h6 class="related" style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK</span>: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/19/vivo-iqoo-originos-update-timeline-schedule-roadmap/">These Vivo and iQOO smartphones will get OriginOS update</a></strong></h6>
<p>Anyway, this is just speculation from our side and we will have to wait for official news. Moving on, the tipster also mentions that iQOO 7&#8217;s triple camera will have a 48MP 1/1.2-inch sensor and come with <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OIS">OIS</a> support. That&#8217;s surprising considering the predecessors(<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-iqoo-5">iQOO 5</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-iqoo-5-pro">5 Pro</a>) have a 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor.</p>
<p>When asked about the discrepancy between the series, he says that the above is the configuration of the main lens. And the iQOO 7 will be more of a gaming-focussed smartphone. In any case, the iQOO 7 is shaping out to be a device inspired by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/21/vivo-x60-series-to-launch-on-december-29-official-promo-released/">upcoming Vivo X60 series of smartphones</a>.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-339414" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/2-8.jpg?x10805" alt="vivo iQOO 5 5G" width="528" height="528" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/2-8.jpg 528w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/2-8-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/2-8-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/2-8-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 528px) 100vw, 528px" /></p>
<p>A report by ITHome <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/518/076.htm">says</a> that <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-iqoo-3">iQOO 3</a> and <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-iqoo-5">iQOO 5</a> now support GPU driver update via the respective App Store. With this, the company follows <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xioami</a>, and <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo">OPPO</a> who have already delivered the feature to their flagships earlier. That said, the report also quotes iQOO product manager Ge Lan V saying the updates are supported only from Snapdragon 865/865+ and 765/765G. And not 855 from 2018.</p>
<p>This is true, as Qualcomm announced the feature during the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/05/qualcomm-adreno-gpu-updates-will-now-install-via-play-store/">launch of Snapdragon 865 flagship SoC</a>. It basically follows Google&#8217;s Project Mainline like process where Users can update their GPU drivers via the official App Store. Previously, GPU drivers were patched along with System files that gets routed via carriers.</p>
<h6 class="related" style="text-align: center"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/13/xiaomi-mi-10-ultra-is-the-first-device-to-support-qualcomm-adreno-gpu-control-panel/">Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is the first device to support Qualcomm Adreno GPU Control Panel</a></strong></h6>
<p>However, you can now <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/updateable-gpu-drivers">download the GPU drivers</a> separately and update them. This quickly enables games to adapt to the latest driver features thereby improving performance, and stability. As you can see in the screenshot below, the version is currently spotted by Chinese users. And hence, we will have to wait and see if it arrives in the other regions as well.</p>

<p>Simply put, updateable GPU drivers opens a new world where features of OpenGL or Vulkan API can be delivered swiftly to users. Apart from Qualcomm, ARM is another company who also <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/25/arm-announces-support-for-updateable-gpu-drivers/">announced GPU drivers support</a>.</p>
<p>After Qualcomm announced the feature, Xiaomi was the first company to<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/29/xiaomi-gpu-update-app-china/"> bring the feature</a> to Adreno 650 GPU present on its flagships like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Mi-10/">Mi 10</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Mi-10-Pro/">Mi 10 Pro</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi-K30-Pro/">Redmi K30 Pro</a>, and more. Following this, OPPO brought it to devices like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/28/oppo-find-x2-x2-pro-receive-gpu-driver-update-in-china/">Find X2 and Find X2 Pro</a>.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Master Lu is a popular benchmarking platform in China. Like AnTuTu, it also releases monthly lists of best smartphones. Let&#8217;s discover together who is the best.</p>

<h2>Design</h2>
<p>None of these devices has the best design you can get from a phone, but they are all pretty nice. I like the OnePlus 8 with its curved screen and compact camera module, but it is a matter of tastes. In each case you get a premium design including an aluminum frame and a glass back. The OnePlus 8 and the iQOO 5 have a single punch-hole display, while Redmi K30 Ultra has a full-screen panel thanks to the presence of a motorized pop-up camera coming out of the upper border of the phone.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Display</h2>
<p>iQOO 5, Redmi K30 Ultra, and OnePlus 8 come with great displays, despite we are not talking about flagship-class panels. They all feature the HDR10+ certification for very nice image quality on streaming platforms, and they have a Full HD+ resolution. The main difference which makes iQOO 5 and Redmi K30 Ultra better than OnePlus 8 is the refresh rate: you get 120 Hz with iQOO 5 and Redmi K30 Ultra, while OnePlus 8 has just 90 Hz. The Redmi K30 Ultra has a slightly wider diagonal than its two rivals. But at the end of the day, we are not talking about big differences. Note that iQOO 5 lacks stereo speakers, while Redmi K30 Ultra and OnePlus 8 have them.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Hardware/Software</h2>
<p>Even when it comes to the hardware department, these devices are not so different. They all come with flagship-level hardware. Redmi K30 Ultra is inferior because it is fueled by the Dimensity 1000+ chipset instead of the Snapdragon 865 found on the iQOO 5 and OnePlus 8. In order to give you an idea of the performance of this chipset, we can tell you that Dimensity 1000+ got a score of fewer than 350,000 points on AnTuTu, while Snapdragon 865 scored over 400,000 points. Further, with Redmi K30 Ultra you get max 8 GB of RAM, while iQOO 5 and OnePlus 8 go up to 12 GB.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Camera</h2>
<p>The iQOO 5 has the most stunning cameras, at least on the paper. It features the same 50 MP gimbal camera found on the Vivo X50 Pro+, paired with a portrait lens with 2x optical zoom and a 13 MP ultrawide sensor. This camera department is able to record 8K videos. Right after, we got the OnePlus 8 which is the only one to support OIS. With the Redmi K30 Ultra, you actually get more sensors but inferior photo quality.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Battery</h2>
<p>iQOO 5 and Redmi K30 Ultra have the same 4500 mAh battery capacity, which is bigger than the 4300 mAh battery of the OnePlus 8. Unfortunately, we did not test their battery life, but we believe that iQOO 5 should last more because it has a Snapdragon 865 chipset instead of the Dimensity 1000+ found on the Redmi K30 Ultra. With the iQOO 5, you even get a faster charging tech with a 55W power.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Price</h2>
<p>iQOO 5 is priced about €490/$578 in its base variant, Redmi K30 Ultra starts from €330/$390, and OnePlus 8 begins at €479/$565 but it is currently more affordable thanks to a lot of street prices. But despite that, the iQOO 5 wins the comparison because of its great cameras, 120 Hz display, big battery, and amazing hardware.</p>

<p>The iQOO 5 Pro has an AMOLED display <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/05/iqoo-5-render-reveals-it-has-a-curved-display-snapdragon-865-processor-confirmed/">with curved edges</a>. A punch-hole cutout can be seen at the top-left corner of the screen. The Full HD+ display will offer a 120Hz refresh rate. It is speculated that the phone is equipped with the same 6.56-inch curved AMOLED panel that was made available on the Vivo X50 Pro+ phone.</p>
<p>The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 865 mobile platform and LPDDR5 RAM. It has UFS 3.1 storage and is likely to be backed by a 4,000mAh battery. It will be arriving with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/07/video-the-iqoo-5-5g-with-120w-fast-charging-support-tested-by-tuv-rheinland/">support for 120W fast charging technology.</a></p>
<p>In related news, the iQOO 5 handset that has a model number of V2024A was spotted at Geekbench <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/29/vivo-v2024a-snapdragon-865-flagship-has-passed-3c-certification-could-it-be-iqoo-3-pro-5g/">in June</a>. At that time, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/07/iqoo-5-master-lu-benchmarks-reveals-key-specs/">8 GB RAM edition</a> had appeared and now the 12 GB RAM variant has surfaced on the benchmarking platform. It is speculated that the iQOO 5 will come with a flat 6.56-inch AMOLED display with punch-hole design and it will carry support for 55W fast charging.</p>

<p>The official iQOO India account shared a tweet earlier today that hints at the launch of the iQOO 5 in the country.</p>

<p>The iQOO 5 will have a curved display with a punch hole at the top left corner of the screen. The display is a Samsung panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. <p>iQOO announced the iQOO 3 in India earlier this year but has not announced any other smartphone afterward. The device is expected to arrive as the first smartphone that will bring support for over 100W fast charging speed and before it hits the market, the phone will have to go through several tests by regulators.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-2.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-336042" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-2.png?x10805" alt="iQOO 5" width="721" height="404" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-2.png 721w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-2-300x168.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-2-696x390.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 721px) 100vw, 721px" /></a></p>
<p>The iQOO 5 has just scaled one of such tests and that is the one by TUV Rheinland. The company has shared a promo video of the next-gen iQOO flagship undergoing several physical tests by TUV Rheinland.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-3.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-336098" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-3.png?x10805" alt="" width="600" height="254" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-3.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-3-300x127.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The test shows us how the battery performs and the state of the phone when it is subjected to such extreme charging speed. The company says the phone will “normal temperatures” in a test environment of room temperature of about 25 degrees. Also, the adapter plug is capable of withstanding up to 10,000 plug-ins and plug-outs of a cable.</p>
<div style="width: 640px;" class="wp-video"><video class="wp-video-shortcode" id="video-336032-2" width="640" height="360" preload="metadata" controls="controls"><source type="video/mp4" src="https://fdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/news/20/08/vivo-iqoo-5-more-details/gsmarena_001.mp4?_=2" /><a href="https://fdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/news/20/08/vivo-iqoo-5-more-details/gsmarena_001.mp4">https://fdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/news/20/08/vivo-iqoo-5-more-details/gsmarena_001.mp4</a></video></div>
<p>Furthermore, the battery is capable of taking up to 600 charge and discharge cycles and the battery life will remain “normal”. Vivo even claims that the battery will stay “as strong as ever”. The device also has some battery protection features while the new 6C cells onboard are said to be of the highest standard. TUV Rheinland, therefore, certified the voltage and current as safe.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-1.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-336033" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-1.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="400" height="574" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-1.jpg 400w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-1-209x300.jpg 209w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-1-293x420.jpg 293w" sizes="(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" /></a></p>
<p>The video also reveals the device will pack a triple camera setup at the rear while at the front will be a curved display which Vivo says will be an AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The DCI-P3 color gamut will be 100% which is more than the industry standard.</p>
<p>The iQOO 5 5G is also expected to pack a Snapdragon 865 chipset paired with an LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage.</p>

The Pro model appeared at the 3C certification earlier today with a 120W fast charging. Ahead of the launch, the iQOO 5 has appeared on Master Lu benchmarks with key specifications.</p>
<p>The listing reveals that the smartphone has recorded 480,403 on Master Lu. This score is an average of 139,720, 229,986, 43,734, and 66,963 points that the iQOO 5 scored in CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage tests, respectively.</p>

<p>The Master Lu listing reveals that the iQOO 5’s display supports 1080 x 2376 pixels resolution and it is powered by 2.84GHz <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/05/iqoo-5-render-reveals-it-has-a-curved-display-snapdragon-865-processor-confirmed/">Snapdragon 865</a>, and not SD865+. <p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-x50-pro">Vivo X50 Pro+</a> that debuted in June in China has a 120Hz refresh rate supporting curved AMOLED display whereas the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-x50">Vivo X50</a> has a flat AMOLED display. Hence, it appears that the iQOO 5 may sport a flat display of 6.56 inches whereas the Pro model could be coming with a curved 120Hz display of the same size. Like the X50 lineup, the iQOO series will have a punch-hole design on their screens.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/29/vivo-v2024a-snapdragon-865-flagship-has-passed-3c-certification-could-it-be-iqoo-3-pro-5g/">3C listing of the Vivo V2024A iQOO 5 phone</a> had revealed that it could be shipping with a 55W rapid charger. The 5G phone was spotted with a 55W charger. This model number is mentioned in the iQOO 5 reservations page on JD.com. It indicates that the model number belongs to the standard version of the iQOO 5. A new smartphone with a V2025A model number has received approval from the 3C certification platform. Since it has been spotted with a 120W charger, it seems to the top variant of the iQOO 5.</p>

A press render has surfaced that shows the upcoming flagship is a beautiful beast.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-335684" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-press-render.jpg?x10805" alt="iQOO 5 press render" width="690" height="811" /></p>
<p>The press render was posted on Weibo by Digital Chat Station and it shows that the device will have a curved display and a punch hole at the top left corner. The design reminds us of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-8-pro/">OnePlus 8 Pro</a>. According to the source, the phone uses a <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate.</p>
<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/iqoo">iQOO</a> has made changes to the design from that of the iQOO 3 which has a flat AMOLED display and a 60Hz refresh rate. The flagship also has its hole at the top right corner of the screen. Lovers of a flat display may be disappointed at iQOO&#8217;s decision to switch to a curved one but we can agree that it does make the device look better.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-335687" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-processor.jpg?x10805" alt="iQOO 5 Snapdragon 865 processor" width="690" height="1219" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-processor.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-processor-170x300.jpg 170w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-processor-580x1024.jpg 580w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-processor-238x420.jpg 238w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>The manufacturer has confirmed the iQOO 5 will have a <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-865">Snapdragon 865</a> processor and not the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-865-plus">Snapdragon 865 Plus</a>. It will pair it with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.</p>
<p>The launch is scheduled for August 17 which is roughly two weeks away. We expect more details will surface before then.</p>

<p>The iQOO 5 is driven by the Snapdragon 865 chipset. The SoC is coupled with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It is speculated that the phone is equipped with an AMOLED display with a punch-hole design and curved edge. A well-known tipster from China recently revealed that the series includes a cost-effective device and a flagship phone. It remains to be seen whether the devices are introduced as iQOO 5 and iQOO 5 Pro.</p>

<p>iQOO is yet to confirm the number of iQOO 5 smartphones that will be made official on Aug. 17. According to <em>Digital Chat Station, </em>the series includes a cost-effective handset and another model with 120W fast charging support. Probably, the device showcased at the ChinaJoy event could be the iQOO 5 Pro phone. Since the handset was well-covered by a case, its rear design could not be seen.</p>
<p>The device that was seen at the Chinese expo sport a curved AMOLED display with punch-hole design. The display supported a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. There is a possibility that this model could be powered by the new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-865-plus">Snapdragon 865 Plus</a> mobile platform. With around two weeks remaining for the iQOO 5 series launch event, the company is expected to release details on its specs and features in the coming days.</p>

<p>The news about the arrival of the iQOO 5 comes from Digital Chat Station, and according to him, the series will launch this month. Based on his Weibo post, it appears we will be getting more than one phone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-335062" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5.jpg?x10805" alt="iQOO 5" width="583" height="131" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5.jpg 583w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/iQOO-5-300x67.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 583px) 100vw, 583px" /></p>
<p>The iQOO 5 series should launch first in China before making is way to other markets such as India. The iQOO 5 should come with the new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/13/iqoos-120w-ultra-fast-charging-technology-officially-announced-first-120w-iqoo-phone-could-be-coming-in-august/">120W fast charging technology</a> iQOO announced last month. The fast charging technology charges a 4000mAh battery from empty to full in just 15 minutes.</p>
<p>We are not sure if it will pack the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-865">Snapdragon 865</a> or <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-865-plus">Snapdragon 865 Plus</a> processor but we won&#8217;t be surprised since some brands are skipping Qualcomm&#8217;s new chipset.</p>
