At the time of launch, the phone was available in limited color options like Racing, Flame, and Legend. Now, iQOO has introduced a new color variant called Photochromic Orange(a.k.a Combustion color).

The main highlight of the new iQOO 8 Photochromic Orange is that it changes color in direct sunlight. The smartphone has a light White finish but when turned towards sunlight, the color of the back panel changes to Orange.

iQOO 8 series Design

The iQOO 8 series have gotten a design refresh while still keeping some features of its predecessors. There are now two devices – a standard model and a pro model. The former has a flat display while the latter has a curved display. However, both have a centered punch hole and triple rear cameras that are arranged in the shape of an L.

iQOO has kept the orange-colored power button from the iQOO 7 and even retained the partnership with BMW for the Legend Edition. There is also a new racing edition with a black carbon fiber finish on the back.
According to the Weibo leaker that goes by Bald Panda, the iQOO 8 will have a flat display, unlike the iQOO 8 Pro which boasts a curved screen. However, it will have a centered punch hole like its sibling.

iQOO will ship the phone with the Snapdragon 888 Plus processor, the more powerful version of the Snapdragon 888 which boasts higher CPU and GPU clock speeds. The phone will also have support for 120W fast wired charging.

The same source had also posted earlier on Weibo that the iQOO 8 Pro will have a 6.78-inches 2K120Hz LTPO curved screen which is the new 10-bit Samsung E5 AMOLED panel. The pro model will also have a centered punch hole, DC dimming, and a 517 PPI.

He also mentioned that it will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 Plus, have a 1/1.5” main camera, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, a ~4500mAh battery, support for 120W fast wired charging, and support for 50W fast wireless charging.

To begin, the ChinaJoy event will be held from July 30 to August 2, and we may anticipate seeing several iQOO 8-series phones there. Now, news about its display has leaked ahead of its unveiling, bringing us closer to the actual announcement.

According to a tipster, the iQOO 8 series will feature an E5 2K resolution display. It will be an LTPO panel with 10-bit color. The phone will also sport a high 120Hz screen refresh rate. Interestingly, it will be a variable refresh rate that will switch between 1Hz and 120Hz depending on the content consumed on the screen. Previous rumors suggested that it will be a large punch-hole panel.

Additionally, another popular tipster revealed that the iQOO 8 series will be the first to come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset. It is expected to be paired with 12GB of RAM and it will have an additional 4GB of virtual RAM support. As for the storage, it will have 256GB of onboard ROM.

The smartphone is expected to pack a 4,500mAh battery with a whopping 120W fast charging support. This will be an upgrade over the 4,000mAh battery in the predecessor iQOO 7.

Recent teasers and other details sourced about the device show that it will be debuting with some innovative components and features.

Notably, the iQOO 8 will premiere the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC, as the first-ever device powered by the new chipset. The iQOO 8 still has some features that have not been captured in the teasers and leaks. We expect some of these details to become public as we inch closer to the August 4 date of its launch.

However, a teaser from iQOO has indicated a possible Flash Charging capability for the upcoming smartphone. The teaser showed a new FlashCharge sign, which close watchers have interpreted to mean a possible fast-charging model for the smartphone. In fact, it has even been rumored that the device is going to pack 160W charging on its battery. As per the speculation, we know that 160W charging has been tested successfully in some devices. Indeed, Xiaomi has also demonstrated 200W fast charging on a 4,000mAh-rated battery on the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro (both wired charging and wireless at 120W).

The Infinix Concept Phone 2021 has also been put through the paces for 160W charging on its 4,000mAh battery. The test on the Infinix Concept Phone 2021 showed that a full charge could be accomplished for the device in under 10 minutes. Therefore, there could be some substance in the speculation regarding fast charging for the iQOO 8 smartphones. However, it has to be stated that there had not been any official or definitive statement from iQOO on the authenticity of the FlashCharging status for the iQOO 8.

As we inch closer to the August 4 launch of the iQOO 8, we’ll keep you in the loop on any further leaks or teasers that may come from iQOO. There are still some loose details to tie up for the device.

It features 12GB of RAM and 4GB of additional memory expansion option (which seems like a virtual memory option).
