Popular tipster Mukul Sharma has revealed that a Snapdragon 870 powered iQOO phone is in the works for India. At the same time, the iQOO U1x smartphone which was announced back in October 2020 in China has received approval from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

Last month, iQOO announced the Snapdragon 870 mobile platform powered iQOO Neo5 in China. The tipster did not share any other information on the iQOO phone with SD870 that has been planned for India. Since the BIS authority has already certified the Neo5, this phone is likely to debut soon in the country.

The BIS screenshot shared by the tipster shows that I2009 and I2011 are the model numbers of the upcoming iQOO smartphones for India. The I2009 was previously spotted with Snapdragon 888, mobile platform, 12 GB of RAM, and Android 11 OS at Geekbench in February. It is speculated that this model may break cover in India as the iQOO 7.

The iQOO I2011 model number has been spotted for the first time. A similar model number I2012 with specs like Snapdragon 870, 8 GB of RAM, and Android 11 OS was spotted at Geekbench last month. At that time, it was speculated that this device could be the Indian variant of the iQOO Neo5.

The I1927 and I1928 model numbers belong to the 4G and 5G variants of last year’s iQOO 3. Hence, there is a possibility that I2012, as well as I2011 model numbers, could be associated with the Neo5. With BIS certifications in tow, it appears that iQOO will soon announce new iQOO phones in India.

In related news, iQOO is reportedly planning to launch a mid-range Z-series phone and an entry-level U-series smartphone in China. These devices are likely to debut as iQOO Z3 and iQOO U3x by the end of this month. The Z3 may feature a 144Hz display, Snapdragon 768G, and 48-megapixel triple cameras, whereas the iQOO U3x could be a rebadged version of the Snapdragon 480 powered Vivo Y31s 5G.

Recent reports have claimed that the company is planning to expand its product portfolio this year in India. XDA Developers’ Tushar Mehta had tweeted in February that the company could launch two or more devices including the iQOO 7 in India in the coming months starting from March. Yesterday, iQOO Indian Director Gagan Arora released a cryptic tweet. Probably, he could be teasing the arrival of the new iQOO phone(s) in India.

iQOO will be announcing the iQOO Neo5 smartphone in China on March 16. Interestingly, its Indian variant appeared at Geekbench recently with the I2012 model number. Last month, the iQOO 7’s Indian variant with the I2009 model number was spotted at Geekbench. Hence, it appears that the company be launching to launch both phones in India soon. It is unclear which of these devices will be breaking cover in India first.

iQOO 7 specifications

The iQOO 7 has a 6.62-inch AMOLED FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an in-screen fingerprint reader. The Snapdragon 888 powers the device with LPPDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Its 4,000mAh battery supports 120W fast charging. It has a 16-megapixel selfie camera and a 48-megapixel (main, with OIS) + 13-megapixel (ultrawide) + 13-megapixel (portrait) triple camera system.

iQOO Neo5 specifications (Rumored)

The iQOO Neo5 is speculated to arrive with a 6.62-inch AMOLED E3 display that will offer users an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, an in-screen fingerprint reader, and an independent display chip for a realistic viewing experience. The Snapdragon 870 chipset will power the device with LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,400mAh battery with 66W fast charging support.

Today, the company took to its Weibo account to confirm its battery capacity and rapid charging capabilities.

The poster reveals that the iQOO Neo5 has a pair of 2,200mAh batteries that offer a total capacity of 4,400mAh battery. The phone will carry support for 66W FlashCharge technology. A previous leak revealed that the charger will be included in the retail box of the device.

The company claims that the 66W rapid charging tech can fully charge the Neo5’s battery in 30 minutes. And it takes only 10 minutes to reach the smartphone to gain 50 percent battery juice. The 66W charger is compatible with the USB-PD 45W charging protocol that can be used for rapid charging other products like laptops.

The bottom view of the iQOO Neo5 reveals that it has a SIM card slot, a microphone, a USB-C port, and a loudspeaker grille. It also shows that the phone is equipped with a flat screen.

Rumors have claimed the smartphone possesses a 6.61-inch AMOLED display with a hole punch placed at the top-center position. The screen is expected to support Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The company confirmed yesterday that its display has an independent chip to ensure smoother performance with low power consumption.

The Snapdragon 870 chipset will fuel the iQOO Neo5 and it may come in 8 GB and 12 GB RAM variants. It could be available in UFS 3.1 storage choices like 128 GB and 256 GB. For selfies, it may feature a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear-mounted camera module may feature a 48-megapixel Sony IMX589 lens with OIS support, a 13-megapixel superwide lens, and a 2-megapixel camera. The smartphone is also expected to release in India in the near future.

The identity of this phone is not known yet. The presence of the letter “I” in its label suggests that it could be an Indian variant of the mysterious iQOO phone. Since it is powered by the Snapdragon 870 mobile platform, it seems that it could be the upcoming iQOO Neo5 smartphone.

The iQOO 3 smartphone which debuted in February last year is the only iQOO that has ever launched in India. The model number of the device is I1928. This suggests that the newly spotted iQOO I2012 could be an Indian variant of a new iQOO phone.

The iQOO I2012 smartphone has appeared multiple times on the Geekbench 5 benchmarking platform. One of the listings shows that it has scored 951 in the single-core and 3339 in the multi-core test. All the listing shows that the phone is powered by a Qualcomm chip that is mentioned as ‘kona.’ The source code mentions that the chip clocks at 3.19GHz, which is a clear hint that it is powered by the Snapdragon 870 mobile platform.

All the listings show that the device has 8 GB of RAM and it runs on Android 11 OS. This device could be the Snapdragon 870 SoC-powered iQOO Neo5 that is expected to launch in China in March.

Recent reports have revealed that iQOO is gearing to launch around two or three phones in India. It is speculated that one of them is a Snapdragon 888 SoC-powered iQOO 7 flagship. Now that the alleged Indian variant of the iQOO Neo5 has been spotted at Geekbench, it may go official soon in the country. So far, reports have revealed that Neo5 will be arriving in China with specs like a 120Hz AMOLED display with punch-hole design, SD870 chip, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB storage, a 4,400mAh battery with 66W fast charging support, a triple camera system featuring a Sony IMX598 48-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel superwide lens, and a 2-megapixel lens.

Speaking of which, the iQOO Neo5 is rumored to feature a 4,400mAb battery. The device will likely feature an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Considering iQOO generally makes a lot of gaming-centric devices, the Neo5 could also get the in-game vibrations, stereo speakers, and an aluminum alloy frame.

Other Expected Specs of the device include a Snapdragon 870 chipset, 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB storage variants, Triple-cameras with Sony IMX598 48MP, 13MP, and 2MP lenses.

The iQOO Neo5 is expected to launch next month i.e., mid-March, and begin at 2,998 Yuan (~$462).

It seems that the tipster could be talking about the iQOO Neo5 which is expected to debut by mid-March.

According to the tipster, a forthcoming Snapdragon 870 driven phone from Vivo features an OLED panel that produces a refresh rate of 120Hz. The screen features a top-centered selfie camera cutout on the display. A 4,400mAh battery backs the device, and it supports around 65W fast charging. The rapid charging capabilities of the phone are said to be almost the same as the OPPO Reno5 Pro+ handset.

He added that Vivo has several models featuring the Sony IMX598 lens. The mysterious Vivo phone that he is talking about has an OIS-assisted IMX598 sensor.

The specs shared by the tipster seem to match the details of the iQOO Neo5 that was recently revealed by another leakster. Shown above is the alleged leaked shot of the smartphone.

Interestingly, two Snapdragon 870 powered handsets by Vivo have appeared in recent reports. The V2045A smartphone was spotted last month at Geekbench with a Snapdragon 870 chip, 12 GB of RAM, and Android 11 OS. The device also received approval from the Bluetooth SIG authority, which revealed support for Bluetooth 5.1.

The V2055A was spotted at the Google Play Console earlier this month. The listing revealed support for Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution, Snapdragon 870 chipset, 12 GB of RAM, and Android 11 OS. Its image at the Google Play Console revealed that it has a selfie camera placed at the top-center position. Either the V2045A or V2055A is likely to end up as the iQOO Neo5. The identity of the other SD870 phone from Vivo is not known yet.

A real-life image of the alleged of the Neo5 surfaced on Weibo (via) recently to reveal its design and key specifications.

The leakster shared an image of the engineering prototype of a Vivo phone powered by the Snapdragon 870 SoC. He believes that this handset could be the Neo5. The image reveals that it has a punch-hole screen, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, and Android 11 OS.

Another tipster claimed that the iQOO Neo5 has an S-AMOLED display that produces a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. He further mentioned that the device has a plastic frame, and it will come with 88W fast charging. The handset is speculated to debut by mid-March in China.

So far, recent reports have revealed two Vivo phones that could be featuring the Snapdragon 870 mobile platform. The first one is the V2045A phone which was spotted at Geekbench and Bluetooth SIG in January. The other one is the Vivo V2055A phone that was recently spotted at the Google Play Console.

Apart from the presence of the SD870 chip, the Google Play Console listing revealed that the V2055A phone features a 1080 x 2400 pixels FHD+ display, 12 GB of RAM, and Android 11 OS. The image of the phone that was found in the listing revealed that it features a punch-hole screen.

Today, another Vivo device has hit Google Play Console and rumors suggest that it might debut as iQOO Neo5 in China.

A Vivo Smartphone with model number V2055A appears on Google Play Console listing(via MySmartPrice). It also has an image but may not be an accurate render of a final product. As for specs, the listing shows that the device will have a display measuring 2400×1080 pixel resolution.

For performance, it lists a Qualcomm SM8250-AC as SoC which is nothing but the Snapdragon 870 5G chipset. The attached GPU is Adreno 650 which is a no-brainer.

Other specs like a possible 12GB RAM variant, running Android 11 also appear on the listing. While there isn’t much info apart from the above, a tipster on Weibo has parallelly hinted that this could be the upcoming iQOO Neo5 smartphone.

According to him, iQOO will launch a device with Snapdragon 870 as the iQOO Neo5 in mid-March. Going by the name, it should succeed the iQOO Neo3 that launched back in April 2020. He also says that the iQOO Neo5 will have a plastic mid-frame and an AMOLED panel with a 2400x1080p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

Although it’s a downgrade in resolution compared to the predecessor(144Hz), the swapping of AMOLED for LCD is a great plus. He also mentions other specs like 88W charging, 8GB RAM, 128/256GB storage, and a starting price of 3298 yuan($510). If you recall, the iQOO Neo3 started at $381 so keep that in mind.

Either way, the information on Google Play Console listing seems to somewhat match with the tipster’s info but we cannot guarantee that this will be the iQOO Neo5. Hence, take this info with a pinch of salt and stay tuned to our channels to know more about it in the coming days.
