iQOO U3x gets a MediaTek 4G version with a ¥899 (~$140) starting price

The iQOO U3x 5G launched in March with a Snapdragon 480 5G processor. Now, the brand has announced a new variant with a 4G MediaTek chipset, some toned-down specs, and a cheaper price tag. This version is called the iQOO U3x Standard Edition and is already on pre-order in China.

iQOO has replaced the Snapdragon 480 with MediaTek’s Helio G80 processor and has made the phone available in two configurations – 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. The spec sheet says the storage type is eMMC 5.1 which is slower than the UFS 2.1 storage type inside the 5G version.

The screen is also smaller now at 6.51-inches and the resolution has dropped to 1600 x 720. The 90Hz refresh rate is gone too but it still has a waterdrop notch. You still get an 8MP front-facing camera and a 13MP main rear camera paired with a 2MP depth sensor.

The iQOO U3x Standard Edition has a 5000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. Unfortunately, iQOO has replaced the USB-C port with a micro-USB one. The device runs Origin OS for iQOO based on Android 11, supports Face Unlock or you can use the side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and has Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi.

The phone measures 164.41×76.32×8.41 millimeters and weighs 191.4 grams. It is available on Vivo’s online shop and on Jingdong in Morning Frost and Light Black. The base model with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at ¥899 (~$140) while the 6GB RAM version with the same storage capacity is ¥1099 (~$170). It will go on sale on June 9.

iQOO has silently launched the iQOO U3x 5G smartphone in China. It is the cheapest 5G-ready iQOO branded phone to arrive in the home market. Some of its key features include a 90Hz display, Snapdragon 4-series 5G chipset, and a huge battery with fast charging support.

The iQOO U3x 5G has a 6.58-inch IPS LCD screen with a waterdrop notch. it supports a Full HD+ resolution, a 20.07:9 aspect ratio, a 401ppi pixel density, and a 90Hz refresh rate. The handset offers a screen-to-body ratio of 90.61 percent.

The Snapdragon 480 chipset fuels the iQOO U3x with up to 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM. The handset offers up to 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage. It runs on iQOO 1.0 based Android 11 OS. For security, it has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and it carries support for face unlock.

A recent leak revealed that iQOO will be launching the iQOO Z3 5G and iQOO U3x 5G by the end of this month in China. It appears that the leak has turned out to be true as the company has not only confirmed March 25 as iQOO Z3’s launch date but also it has started reservations of the iQOO U3x handset.

The iQOO U3x 5G is now listed for reservations through Vivo China’s website, JD, and Suning. The official renders of the smartphone have appeared in these listings. It can be seen in Magic Blue and gradient gray colors. The JD listing reveals that iQOO U3x 5G will be available in three variants such as 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage.

The official renders show that the iQOO U3x has a teardrop notch display. Its rear side has a square-shaped camera module has a dual-camera setup and an LED flash. The right edge of the phone has a volume rocker. Its pre-sale will begin on March 22, which indicates that it may launch on the same date.

Yesterday, a tipster from China shared the key specifications of the upcoming iQOO U3x smartphone. A new Vivo phone with model number V2106A was recently spotted at Chinese certification platforms such as 3C and TENAA. It is speculated that this device could be the forthcoming iQOO U3x smartphone.

The TENAA listing reveals that the purported iQOO U3x smartphone has 164.5 x 75.35 x 8.4mm dimensions. It is equipped with a 6.58-inch display with a teardrop notch. A fingerprint scanner can be seen on the right edge of the device.

A squarish camera housing is available on the backside of the Vivo V2016. It seems to be equipped with a dual-camera system and an LED flash. The smartphone is preinstalled with Android 11 OS. Soon after its launch, the company released the first teaser of its upcoming Z-series smartphone, which is speculated to launch as the iQOO Z3. A fresh leak suggests that China may soon receive a 5G-ready iQOO phone with entry-level specs. This may debut in the home market as the iQOO U3x.

A reliable tipster from China claimed that the upcoming entry-level iQOO phone is likely to cost around 1,000 Yuan (~$154). At this price, it is expected to offer users major specs like a 90Hz refresh rate screen, Snapdragon 480 chipset, a 5,000mAh battery, and a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual-camera system. Hence, it is highly likely that the iQOO U3x could also be a rebranded device. It is unclear whether the iQOO Z3 and the iQOO U3x will go official together by the end of March.

iQOO will be launching the iQOO 7 later today in China. A Weibo user has shared a couple of screenshots to share the specs of the upcoming iQOO phones such as iQOO 7 Neo, iQOO Z3, iQOO Z3x, and iQOO U3x. Before reading ahead, readers are advised to digest the leak with a grain of salt.

iQOO 7 Neo specifications (Unconfirmed)

The iQOO 7 Neo is expected to arrive with specs like an LCD display that offers a 120Hz or higher refresh rate, Snapdragon 888 chipset, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 55W fast charging support.
