Powered by the monster MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ 5G chipset based on 7nm, the device has been priced very well by Vivo. The iQOO Z1 offers more than its competitors in the price range of $300 &#8211; $400. Coupled with the 6GB/8GB RAM and plenty of internal storage starting with the 128GB base, it&#8217;s a complete package within your budget. It has a brilliant, beautiful 6.57-inch FHD+ punch-hole display, and keeping its light on is a massive 4,500mAh battery.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-340426" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iqoo-z1-s_3-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="700" height="700" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iqoo-z1-s_3-1.jpg 700w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iqoo-z1-s_3-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iqoo-z1-s_3-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iqoo-z1-s_3-1-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iqoo-z1-s_3-1-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></p>
<p>That being said, you can avail the Vivo iQOO Z1 with a $100 off on Giztop. It&#8217;s a crazy promotional offer as you can grab the device for the price as low as $299 for the base. All you&#8217;ve to do is apply the <strong>promo code QZ100</strong> at the <a href="https://www.giztop.com/vivo-iqoo-z1.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">checkout on GizTop</a>. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It’s unfortunate that </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Snapdragon</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> chips dominate the smartphone gaming market in recent years. Although we know that the HUAWEI Krin series is working hard to catch up, Kirin chipsets are limited to Huawei devices. But the MTK Dimensity series is in a better position to stand up as the challenger against Snapdragon for Android brands. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It might be too early to say this but MediaTek could be a real threat to Qualcomm and its Snapdragon series in 2020.</span></p>

<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;">iQOO Z1 Review: Display</span></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But before talking about its performance, let’s look at the 1080P 144Hz LCD display of the Z1. It also features HDR10 colors to support HDR video play and HDR graphics in some games. We weren’t expecting a lot but with our naked eyes, we can say it’s probably one of the best 144Hz LCD smartphone displays as it covers 96% of NTSC colors. Oh yes, you read that right &#8211; the Z1 has an LCD display.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Like previous models running </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mediatek"><span style="font-weight: 400;">MediaTek</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> chipsets, the iQOO Z1 also has a pretty competitive price starting from 2200 yuan (RMB), which comes to around US$310. Most </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g"><span style="font-weight: 400;">5G</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> models running the snapdragon 865 are priced relatively higher than the flagships released last year. Even compared to the cheapest Snapdragon 865 model, the iQOO Neo 3 which starts from 380USD, the Z1 still has an advantage in terms of its price.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> But is the Dimensity 1000 Plus as powerful as the snapdragon 865? Let’s see the results on some benchmark apps.  </span></p>

<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;">iQOO Z1 Review: Benchmark</span></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/antutu"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Antutu</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> benchmark, the Z1 scored over 520000 points but there’s still a remarkable gap as compared to the 597000 points of the Neo 3 running the snapdragon 865. But we can see that the GPU performance of the MTK chipset is much closer to the Snapdragon than ever. And we found that the snapdragon 865’s peak CPU frequency is 2841 MHz, while the D</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dimensity-1000-plus"><span style="font-weight: 400;">imensity 1000 Plus</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> could run up to 2549 MHz. The Geekbench &amp; 3DMark confirms the performance gap exists but it&#8217;s not really significant. </span></p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;">iQOO Z1 Review: Gaming Performance</span></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As for the actual gaming test, we have to say the gaming experience is not really different from what we have on the Snapdragon 865 platform since there are very few games requiring extremely high CPU or GPU performance from Android phones. Most games only support up to 60fps framerate. The Z1 with Dimensity 1000 plus could stably complete gaming test at 60fps on an average even under the highest graphics in these 60fps games. For example, in NBA 2k20 which has a 60fps framerate-limit, the iQOO Z1 stably runs at 59.9fps under the highest graphics. And in Call of Duty mobile also with 60fps framerate limit, the framerate is as stable as in NBA 2k20, which remained at an average of 59.8fps. </span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-17.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-327973" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-17.jpg?x44794" alt="iQOO Z1 Gaming featured Review 17" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-17.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-17-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-17-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-17-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-17-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-17-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-17-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-17-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But there are still some games even lock the framerate under 30fps like Asphalt 9. In Asphalt 9, although the Z1 got stutter sometimes, it still could reach at 29fps on an average. Then we found some games which may not limit framerate on the Android platform such as Grimvalor. Because our tested tool cannot record the framerate over 125fps, we can see actually the Z1 could run this game at over 125fps, and achieved a super smooth gaming experience with its 144Hz display. But we also found that it sometimes dropped down to 90fps. The possible reason here has been discussed in the last <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/28/oneplus-8-pro-vs-iqoo-neo-3-gaming-performance-review-comparison/">video of the iQOO Neo 3</a>. It could be an active strategy of the iQOO system to maintain a balance between temperature and gaming fluency. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The same result was spotted during the gameplay of Shadowgun: Legends. </div>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">And when we tested the 120fps mode on </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/15/pubg-mobile-was-the-highest-grossing-226-million-mobile-game-in-may-2020/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">PUBG Mobile</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, this performance throttling was again spotted. Sometimes it reached up to 120fps but generally stayed at the level of 90fps. Even so, the average framerate still remains at 95.5fps.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We also conducted a stress test &#8211; like we usually do in our gaming reviews &#8211; 15mins test on Nimian Legends. Well, this time we eventually reached the limit of the Dimensity 1000 Plus. Compared to the iQOO Neo 3, the Z1’s performance in this round is much weaker. The Neo 3 could run at 63.39fps on an average, while the figure for the Z1 is only 41.5 and it also got the 90fps limit. So accordingly, we have to say there is still a performance gap between Snapdragon 865 and the Dimensity 1000 Plus. However, when playing most android games, the gap is really hard to perceive due to those games’ framerate limit and low performance required. And considering its attractive price, we still recommend it as an excellent 2020 gaming phone. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But compared to other professional gaming phones like</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-nubia-red-magic-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Redmagic 5G</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-black-shark-3-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Blackshark 3 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, there are no shoulder buttons for better gaming operation, which should be considered as a drawback especially since it&#8217;s marketed as a gaming device. </span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-19.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-327975" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-19.jpg?x44794" alt="iQOO Z1 Review 19" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-19.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-19-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-19-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-19-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-19-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-19-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-19-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-19-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One more thing I have to praise is the cooling system. As we mentioned, the active strategy of framerate limiting provided an excellent cooling effect in actual gaming. So during almost all the tests we did, the device did not overheat at all. And after our 1-hour PUBG Mobile gaming test, the temperature was only 39.7℃, which is really impressive. </span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;">iQOO Z1 Review: Battery</span></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-21.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-327977" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-21.jpg?x44794" alt="iQOO Z1 Gaming Featured Review 21" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-21.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-21-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-21-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-21-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-21-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-21-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-21-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-21-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the aspect of charging, the included 44W charger is so powerful that it only took us 23 mins to charge up to 50% of power, and 64 mins for a full charge. And the 1-hour PUBG Mobile gameplay consumed around 16% of power. Accordingly, it could be expected to last for around 6 hours in gameplay. </span></p>
<figure id="attachment_327963" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-327963" style="width: 2048px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-07.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-327963 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-07.jpg?x44794" alt="iQOO Neo 3 - SD865 vs iQOO Z1 - Dimensity 1000+" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-07.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-07-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-07-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-07-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-07-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-07-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-07-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/iQOO-Z1-Review-07-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-327963" class="wp-caption-text">iQOO Neo 3 &#8211; SD865 vs iQOO Z1 &#8211; Dimensity 1000+</figcaption></figure>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So that’s it. As we concluded, there is a performance gap between the snapdragon 865 and the Dimensity 1000 Plus as flagship chipsets. However, when we were playing most android games, the gap is really hard to perceive due to their framerate limits. </span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Given that it costs just around $310, you can’t go wrong with the iQOO Z1 as a cheap gaming flagship. </span></p>

Today, the Geekbench result have surfaced.</p>
<p>There are multiple results on Geekbench but the result with the highest score shows the device scored 784 points in the single-core test and 3085 points in the multi-core test. The benchmark result also shows the iQOO Z1 (vivo V1986A) has 8GB of RAM and runs Android 10.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-Geekbench.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-323096" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-Geekbench.png?x44794" alt="iQOO Z1 Geekbench" width="648" height="691" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-Geekbench.png 648w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-Geekbench-281x300.png 281w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-Geekbench-394x420.png 394w" sizes="(max-width: 648px) 100vw, 648px" /></a></p>
<p>If you are wondering how the chipset fares compared to other flagship processors such as the Kirin 990 5G and the Snapdragon 865, below are the benchmark results for two sample devices &#8211; the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-30-pro-5g/">Mate 30 Pro 5G</a> (Kirin 990 5G) and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-edge-plus/">Motorola Edge+</a> (Snapdragon 865).</p>
[envira-gallery id=&#8221;323100&#8243;]
<p>While the Dimensity 1000+ does hold its own against the Kirin 990 5G, its scores, most especially the single-core score pales against that of the Snapdragon 865. Nevertheless, MediaTek&#8217;s most-powerful chipset does pack some punch and should be able to handle whatever task you throw at it.</p>
<p>The iQOO Z1 will have a display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a punch-hole. It will also have support for 44W fast charging and a 4500mAh battery capacity. The device launches on Tuesday, May 19, and is expected to be priced at ¥2498 (~$352) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB version.</p>

Recently, it was confirmed that the device is named iQOO Z1 5G and will launch on 19th May.</p>
<p>Now, just days ahead of the official unveiling, the company has shared an image on its Weibo account which reveals that the smartphone has managed to score more than 530,000 points on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.comt/tag/antutu">AnTuTu</a> Benchmark.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-322455 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-AnTuTu-Score.jpg?x44794" alt="iQOO Z1 AnTuTu Score" width="690" height="1226" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-AnTuTu-Score.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-AnTuTu-Score-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-AnTuTu-Score-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-AnTuTu-Score-236x420.jpg 236w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>Although the benchmark score of the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chipset is not as high as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, it is still among the most powerful smartphone chipsets, easily ranking in the top three.</p>
<p>The chipset is an enhanced version of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/30/dimensity-1000-announced-as-the-first-smartphone-soc-with-av1-hardware-acceleration/">Dimensity 1000 SoC</a> launched a few months ago and comes with MediaTek’s proprietary 5G UltraSave technology that helps save battery consumption. It can also automatically switch between the networks and dynamically adjusts working mode of the modem.</p>
<p>It is powered by four Cortex-A77 cores up to 2.6GHz and four Cortex A55 cores up to 2 GHz. The chipset also uses the latest HyperEngine 2.0 technologies to optimise the smartphone for a more fluid and immersive gaming experience.</p>

The major highlight of the smartphone is that it will be equipped with the recently unveiled Dimensity 1000+ flagship chipset. Today, the Chinese shared the renders of the iQOO Z1 to reveal its rear design.</p>
<p>As can be seen in the new renders, the iQOO Z1 will be available in at least two color variants. The images show that the smartphone is fitted with a rectangle-shaped camera housing at the top-left corner of its back panel. It houses an LED flash and three cameras. The right edge of the device has a volume rocker and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. The rear appearance of the device resembles the iQOO Neo3 phone that went official last month.</p>

<p>The actual renders of the front side of the iQOO Z1 are yet to be revealed. However, the launch date poster and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/11/iqoo-z1-real-images-surface-to-reveal-design/">leaked images of the Z1</a> that appeared earlier this week has revealed that it will be sporting a display with a punch-hole at its top-right corner.</p>

Except for Huawei and Honor branded phones, all Android flagship phones that have debuted this year have featured Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 mobile platform. What’s different about the iQOO Z1 is that it is likely to arrive with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/07/mediatek-dimensity-1000-announced-with-higher-refresh-rate-support/">Dimensity 1000+ SoC</a> that was recently announced by MediaTek. A trustworthy leakster from China has shared two images to give the first look at the iQOO Z1.</p>
<p>As can be seen in the first image, the alleged iQOO Z1 phone has a round-shaped cutout at the upper-right corner for the front-facing camera. After the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-iqoo-3">iQOO 3</a> and iQOO Neo3, the iQOO Z1 could be the first phone from the company to sport a punch-hole display.</p>

<p>The iQOO Z1 is expected to offer a high screen space as its display is surrounded by slim bezels on three sides. The bottom bezel of the device is a bit thick. The right side of the phone seems to be fitted with a volume rocker and a power button that is embedded with a fingerprint sensor.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-321881" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-real-image-2.jpg?x44794" alt="iQOO Z1 " width="2821" height="1882" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-real-image-2.jpg 2821w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-real-image-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-real-image-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-real-image-2-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-real-image-2-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-real-image-2-1068x713.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-real-image-2-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/iQOO-Z1-real-image-2-1920x1281.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2821px) 100vw, 2821px" /></p>
<p>The iQOO Z1 could be sporting an IPS LCD panel. It could be having the same 6.57-inch display that is available on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-iqoo-neo-3">iQOO Neo3</a> smartphone. The second image reveals that the phone will offer users with refresh rate options like 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz and 144Hz.</p>

<p>Recently, a new Vivo phone with model number V1986A was approved by China’s 3C regulatory body. It not only revealed that the handset is a 5G-ready device, but also suggested that it could be shipping with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/08/alleged-iqoo-z1-may-have-received-3c-certification/">44W rapid charger</a>.</p>
<p>iQOO is yet to confirm the existence of the iQOO Z1 smartphone. The handset is likely to soon pop up at the database of China’s TENAA authority through which its specifications will be revealed.</p>

<p>The Weibo posts by the tipster hints that the iQOO Z1’s display may support 120Hz or 144Hz refresh rate and it could be coming with a 44W fast charger. The tipster has removed the Weibo post that hints about the refresh rate and charging capabilities of the iQOO Z1. The presence of the new MediaTek will possibly allow the phone to support 5G + 5G dual SIM / dual standby.</p>

<p>In related news, <em>Nashville Chatter Class </em>reported that a Vivo smartphone with model number V1986A has received certification from the 3C regulatory body of China. The listing confirms that it is a 5G handset. Also, it reveals that the retail package of the device will include a 44W rapid charger. It is unclear whether the phone will be debuting as a Vivo or iQOO branded device in China.</p>

Hence, there is a possibility that the V1986A could be an iQOO Z1 phone with 44W fast charge support. Since it is just an assumption, readers are advised to wait for further reports to know the identity of V1986A.</p>
