iQOO has started rolling out FuntouchOS 12 based on Android 12 according to schedule, and the iQOO Z3 has become not just one of the first offerings from the brand to get treated to the same, but also the very first phone in the sub-₹20,000 segment to receive Android 12 stable.

The update carries version number PD2073BF_EX_A_6.72.7, has a size of 4GB, and is currently being seeded to India. A slew of new Android 12-specific features and some FuntouchOS-exclusive features have been added including new widgets, stickers, small window functionality, and much more. Along with this, iQOO also claims that the system performance and security have also been improved.

• Added the app hibernation feature. If you haven’t used an app for months, it will be denied access to all permissions by the system.

If you haven’t received the update on your device yet, then it could be possible that it is currently being rolled out in stages. It would thus be advisable to simply wait for a while. Still, you can always head over to Settings > System update to manually check if there’s any new version available.

Along with the iQOO Z3, the iQOO 7, 7 Legend, and Z5 are also scheduled to get updated to Android 12-based FuntouchOS 12 this month. However, the iQOO 3 will be a bit late to the party and will only receive FuntouchOS 12 later in March 2022.

Chinee smartphone brand iQOO made its debut in India in early 2020. Since then, the company has released five handsets. Yesterday, the firm revealed that all these phones are eligible for the Android 12 update. It even shared a beta rollout timeline.

Smartphone brand iQOO says that it will upgrade its entire portfolio sold in India to Android 12. This means even the affordable iQOO 3 and the expensive iQOO 7 Legend will get the tases of the latest version of Android.

As per the schedule shared by the company, the devices released in 2021 will start receiving beta builds from the end of December. On the other hand, the iQOO 3 launched in 2020 will get the beta update by the end of March 2022.

Last year, iQOO, the sub-brand of vivo made its debut in India with the iQOO 3 series. A year later, the company launched its next devices in the form of iQOO 7 and iQOO 7 Legend in late April. Now, according to a tip, the brand will be soon introducing its first budget smartphone in the country.

iQOO started as a sub-brand of vivo for affordable flagship smartphones. However, with growing competition, the company ventured into the mid-range and the budget categories. But these phones still remain exclusive to China.

Thankfully, that’s going to change, as per Mukul Sharma, a popular Indian tech influencer on Twitter. According to him, iQOO will be launching its Z series (mid-range smartphone lineup) in India in mid-June. He also mentions that this series will be exclusive to Amazon India, just like the iQOO 7 series.

Unfortunately, Sharma does not say the name of the phone. Neither he reveals the number of devices launching since he uses the word ‘series’.

Going by a recent report, one of these handsets could be iQOO Z3. This device has been registered on the Indian IMEI database.

Vivo’s sub-brand for premium smartphones — iQOO has been launching interesting devices in the market and it recently launched its flagship smartphone iQOO 7 and iQOO 7 Legend in the Indian market.

Now, the company is gearing up to launch another device in the Indian market, this time in the Z-series. A tweet from Mukul Sharma reveals that the iQOO Z3 with model number V2073A has been registered on the Indian IMEI database.

This new development indicates that the official launch of the smartphone in India could happen pretty soon. Earlier, the smartphone’s moniker appeared on the IMEI database for the Indian market.

For those who are unaware, the iQOO Z3 5G smartphone was launched in China in March of this year. It features a 6.58-inch FHD+ LCD waterdrop display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. There’s a screen resolution of 2408 × 1080 pixels that offers 401PPI pixel density, supports HDR, has a 90.61 percent screen-body ratio, covers 96 percent NTSC color gamut, and has a 1500:1 contrast ratio.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G 5G chipset and is paired with up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. It also comes with  Multi-Turbo 5.0 for smartly managing the storage while gaming. There’s also Eagle Eye Mode 2.0, multi-channel support, and 4D game vibration along with a Game Box function.

The device features a triple-camera layout on the back. The setup has a 64-megapixel main lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide with 120-degree FOV, and a 2-megapixel f/2.4 macro lens. On the front side, there’s a 16-megapixel f/2.0 selfie shooter. The iQOO Z3 5G runs the Android 11 operating system out-of-the-box with OriginOS for iQOO 1.0. Earlier this month, the iQOO Z3 was launched with 120Hz high refresh rate and Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G. Now, a new leak has suggested that a Pro variant is on the way and will feature a higher end Snapdragon 780G along with a 144Hz LCD display.

According to a Weibo post (a Chinese microblogging website), the company is working on an IQOO Z3 Pro, which is a higher end version of its newly launched mid range handset. For those unaware, the base Z3 was launched back on 25th March 2021, and featured notable specs and started from a price tag of 1,699 Yuan (roughly 260 US Dollars). It featured the Snapdragon 768G 5G enabled processor and a 120Hz high refresh rate display.

Now, a leak has revealed that the Chinese smartphone maker’s Z3 Pro will support Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 780G processor and a 144Hz high refresh rate on its LCD display panel. Qualcomm had just recently announced the Snapdragon 780G mobile processor. This would mean that the Z3 Pro would be one of the first smartphones to feature the newly announced 5nm chipset.

At the moment, this chip is expected to first be featured in the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite. So, we can expect other smartphone vendors to launch their own offerings soon. The iQOO Z3 has 3D curved glass on the back and a slimmer body for better ergonomics while gaming. That is, the device has a 2.75mm ultra-narrow middle frame, 8.5mm thickness, and weighs just 185.5 grams.

Further, it has been revealed that the device also supports high-frame games. The upcoming handset is expected to arrive with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G processor along with 55W flash charging as well. It is speculated that the iQOO Z3 will be powered by the Snapdragon 768G chipset. The listing further reveals that the phone has 8 GB of RAM and Android 11 OS.

Recent reports have revealed that the iQOO Z3 will be sporting an LCD panel with a punch-hole design. It is likely to support a Full HD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The 6 GB RAM variant of the handset was seen at its Google Play Console listing.

The company started with the reservations of the smartphone through multiple retailer sites including Vivo China’s online store in China. An updated listing of the phone at JD now has a new poster, which confirms that it will launch on March 25 in China.

The poster gives a look at one of the corners of the iQOO Z3’s back, which does not reveal anything significant about its design. The listing has no information on the specs of the Z3. However, it mentions the model number of the device as V2073A.

The V2073A model number has been recently at Google Play Console and 3C. The latter revealed that it is a 5G phone that may arrive with support for 55W fast charging. The V2073A’s Play Console listing states that its display supports FHD+ resolution, 6 GB of RAM, and Android 11 OS.

The Play Console listing reveals that it is powered by an SM7250 Qualcomm chipset. The SM7250 model number belongs to three chipsets such as Snapdragon 765, 765G, and 768G. However, a tipster claimed it could be driven by the Snapdragon 768G.

Other reports have claimed that it has a 144Hz LCD panel with a punch-hole design and a Sony IMX589 48-megapixel triple camera system. There is no word on its pricing. The handset will be arriving as a successor to the iQOO Z1 from last year.

At the same time, this handset has been also spotted on Google Play Console. According to the listing, the iQOO Z3 with model number vivo V2073A will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G.

The device will come with 6GB RAM and an FHD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2408 pixels Further, the screen will have a DPI of 480 and the handset will run Android 11.

As per previous reports, the forthcoming iQOO Z3 will arrive with 55W fast charging, a centered punch-hole display, 144Hz refresh rate, LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 2.2 storage, 4,500mAh battery, and a 48MP Sony IMX589 primary camera. 

A leaker even claimed it to feature a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC but that may not be the case going by the Google Play Console listing.

In the previous week, a mysterious Vivo phone with a V2073A model number was approved by the 3C certification platform of China. The listing revealed that the phone may arrive with support for 55W rapid charging. The rumor mill is of the view that the V2073A could be the upcoming iQOO Z3 smartphone. A tipster from China has shared a few key details of the iQOO Z3.

According to the leakster, the iQOO Z3’s body and middle frame will be made from plastic.  Its appearance could be similar to the predecessor iQOO Z1v that went official in India back in May 2020. However, it is unclear whether the Z3 will sport a display with a top-centered punch-hole. The leakster claims that its screen will support a refresh rate of 144Hz.

The iQOO Z3 may feature the Dimensity 1200 chipset. For photography, it will be equipped with a Sony IMX589 48-megapixel camera. The upcoming iQOO Neo5, which is slated to go official on March 16, is also expected to feature the same primary camera. While the Neo5 will carry support for OIS, the Z3 is unlikely to feature it.

Lastly, the tipster revealed that the iQOO Z3 will be announced by the end of this month. Another phone named the iQOO U3x may launch alongside it. The iQOO U3x is likely to arrive as a cheaper version of the Dimensity 800U powered iQOO U3 handset that debuted back in December 2020.

iQOO is yet to confirm the arrival of the iQOO Z3. It is advisable to wait for further reports to know whether the Z3 and U3x will be launching by March-end.

The iQOO Z series made its debut last year as a line of affordable phones. The first model in the series, the iQOO Z1, launched last May as the first phone with the Dimensity 1000+. It also packed a 144Hz refresh rate and a 44W fast charging. Now a successor, which should arrive as the iQOO Z3 is coming and it has received its 3C certification.

The iQOO Z3 was certified as the Vivo V2073A. Just like its predecessor, it is a 5G phone and according to Digital Chat Station, it will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 chipset.

The 3C certificate reveals that the phone will support 11V 5A (55W) charging an upgrade from its predecessor’s 44W fast charging. The rest of the phone’s specs are unknown but we expect more details to surface in the coming weeks.

The iQOO Z1 had a 6.57-inch LCD display. iQOO may decide to stick to LCD or make the switch to AMOLED for this year’s model, though the refresh rate will likely not be as high as 144Hz.

Another area where we expect upgrades is the camera department. The iQOO Z1 has 48MP triple rear cameras which also includes an 8MP ultrawide angle camera and a 2Mp macro camera. With 64MP sensors being more common these days, we won’t rule out the iQOO Z3 also getting one. We also expect it to have an improved ultrawide angle camera and maybe a depth sensor.

Seeing as the iQOO Z3 has been certified already, there is a chance it may launch earlier than its predecessor.

iQOO will be launching the iQOO 7 later today in China. A Weibo user has shared a couple of screenshots to share the specs of the upcoming iQOO phones such as iQOO 7 Neo, iQOO Z3, iQOO Z3x, and iQOO U3x. Before reading ahead, readers are advised to digest the leak with a grain of salt.

iQOO 7 Neo specifications (Unconfirmed)

The iQOO 7 Neo is expected to arrive with specs like an LCD display that offers a 120Hz or higher refresh rate, Snapdragon 888 chipset, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 55W fast charging support. It could be coming with a 48-megapixel main camera and a 16-megapixel selfie snapper. The iQOO 7 Neo is expected to arrive in the second or third quarter in China with a pricing of around 2,500 Yuan (~$385).

iQOO Z3 and Z3x specifications (Unconfirmed)

The iQOO Z3 and Z3x phones are expected to arrive as the successor to the iQOO Z1 and iQOO Z1x phones from last year. The iQOO Z3 leak reveals that it has a 144Hz LCD display, an unknown 6nm chipset, LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 2.2 storage a 4,500mAh battery with 44W fast charging technology. For photography, it may come with a 16-megapixel front camera and a 48-megapixel primary shooter. The device could be priced at 2,000 Yuan (~$308).

The iQOO U3x is expected to arrive with a 60Hz LCD panel, Dimensity 700 chipset, LPPDR4x RAM, UFS 2.1 storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. It may feature an 8-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel main camera. It may release with a price tag of 1,000 Yuan (~$154). This phone will be succeeding the iQOO U1x phone from 2020.
